Rrose

Snagged this for $35 at TJ Maxx... a steal. This was already on my list to purchase as I live for an aquatic floral, so seeing the midsized bottle at this price was awesome. Rrose is a bright and uplifting aquatic rose. She’s a woman who has been here, she has understanding and is also still learning, her steps are grounded but light, future is bright. I get a beautiful take on lush rose water... lemon to keep it light and fresh, pear to add to sweetness, cassis for depth, lotus and peony take the edge off while dancing beautifully with the rose, musk and cashmere to soften the landing and bring grounding. It’s lovely. I don’t have longevity problems at all with this scent. It is not the type of rose I would want to smell heavily projecting for hours on end as a rose this fresh can become headache inducing. Instead, after a few hours, it dries down to a soft musky rose and stays close for a few more hours. Perfect. I find that this scent is also great for layering when I want to bring out rose notes in fragrances where they are muted. My favorite combination so far is with the 2023 release Lancome La Vie Est Belle L’extrait. It lifts the rose out of the incense and oud and sets it beautifully beside the iris where they both shine. Gorgeous!

at first this wasn’t what i expected from a rose scent. i thought it would be a bit muskier and richer, but instead it’s much truer to the actual scent and feel of a pink rose petal. it’s sparkling and fresh. i almost think it macerated a bit because it’s gotten stronger since i first opened it. the description states that the name comes from marcel duchamp’s feminine alter ego, Rrose Sélavy, a play on “eros! c’est la vie,” or “love! that’s life.” duchamp was an artist who pushed boundaries and made paintings that were a bit more brutalistic. i don’t know much about his feminine alter ego, but i believe it was meant to reflect the exact opposite of his artistic identity. in that sense, this is perfect. it’s not bold but it’s not quite soft either, it’s a safe rose, it’s fresh and slightly fruity. i think this is probably the perfect fresh rose. i’ve also gotten compliments on it! and not the “i love your perfume” compliment but the “something smells so good” compliment, which to me signifies that a scent is very natural, not necessarily in the skin like way but in the “this smells like nature” way. really pretty perfume with decent performance (but don’t expect a musky rose or jammy rose because that’s not what this is)

This is one of the most beautiful roses I have ever smelled. It reminds me of MFK A La Rose. If you don't want to pay $300 for A La Rose, this will scratch the itch at a fraction of the cost. It is a very realistic powdery rose with a stem-like fragrance. If you are a fan of Delina, you may like this, but it is not as sweet as Delina, and it lacks the sandalwood note. My grandmother and my mother both had rose gardens, and this reminds me of the smell. It's just beautiful! It dries down to a fragrance that is PERFECT for the spring and summer. It's not cloying, but it is pronounced. Any person who is standing within a foot of you will take notice. The sillage falls between intimate and moderate. It's stronger than intimate, but it's not in the moderate range either. I can't speak to its longevity yet, but I'll update this review when I have a full day of wear. It's perfect for spring and summer. I would potentially wear it in winter and fall, but I don't believe that it's 'loud' enough to make an impact in the fall or winter. It can be worn in day or night, but it's better for the day. It's also perfect for office environments.

It’s funny how many people are giving this a negative review because it smells like rose. Not sure why you would even try a fragrance called “rose” if you don’t like the scent of roses. As far as rose scents go, I think this one is absolutely lovely. It starts out really fresh and kind of green, and very rosy, like a fresh picked rose. Which I really enjoy for a little bit, but I am glad the rosiness calms down. As it dries down, the peony comes out more as the rose becomes less prominent. After a while it sweetens up a little, and is a soft, sweet, clean floral on the dry down. This feels like a great signature scent for someone who loves fresh rose scents. I love to mix it with other fragrances, but it’s great on its own too. I really enjoy this. Bonus points for being less toxic than other fragrances, which is the reason I tried this in the first place.

I picture sunlight dancing on water, like glitter, and floating atop with you are millions of pink rose petals as you are blissfully enveloped by the fresh aroma of roses. Rrose is light & fresh, yet strong. It is pure rose water as perfume and is truly a vibrant pretty natural rose water scent. It’s not like putting your nose to a rose flower, which would smell green and earthy. It is a perfect signature fresh rose scent. I’m a very happy person whenever I smell it as it is so bright, cheery, and vibrant. Lasts a long time on me in a leisurely manner. I know it’s not voted high to wear at night, but I put it on, and it’s so lovely. There’s something so magical & romantic about smelling like watery roses on summer nights.

I love this fragrance so much! It relaxes me. I love rose fragrances, and I love freshies. With that being said, I hate it when rose is mixed with “fresh” musks and I hate it when rose is mixed with clove and other “spices”. So for me, a “fresh” rose fragrance has to be just right and this one is it for me. It’s like floating in a fresh, spring-fed pool, surrounded by rose petals. Longevity is great for me. Sometimes I spray it on right before bed and in the morning it’s still there lingering. It’s also great for layering when I go out. I love using my husband’s Terre d’Hermes with it...and something special happens with a few sprays over a modest spray of Chanel’s Egoiste.

So I'm a big fan of the perfumer jerome epinette so I had to give this a try. I'm very happy I did because I quite like this. I starts off as a light, aquatic rose with some citrus brightness. Then the cassis and peony comes in with the musk. Peony is my favorite note and this is definitely for peony lovers. It almost has a slight soapyness on the drydown like Myth does. Its uncomplicated but definitely not linear and is something I could see wearing for spring or summer. Edit: This quickly became my favorite fragrance of all time. And I get an insane amount of compliments

This is a very soapy rose perfume. Personally, I like that. Rose in general is one of my favorite scents and this is a nice, fresh, clean take on it. For me, Rrose starts out smelling strongly of rose soap. Then, it mellows out a bit to become a more soft, feminine, soapy rose. Really nice for when I want something feminine that is not heavy or cloying. I'd say this is mostly a daytime fragrance, but my boyfriend loves it so much that it may be a good date fragrance as well. I get told how good I smell every time I wear this.

Youthful rose scent. Like fresh flowery roses, nothing harsh or heavy. Very good for summer and spring. Great daytime scent and makes for a playful and fresh nighttime scent too! It's a bit musky and smells so closely to Chloe Eau de Parfum but if the primary note were young and fresh roses. The sweetness in the floral is in no way cloying and it can be very close to the skin. The type of scent you'd wear on your first date after a nice shower on a spring or summer day or out in a white tee and jeans.

Rrose is one of my favorite easy-reach, casual rose scents. And I own and love a LOT of rose perfumes. The closest comparison to me is DS & Durga Rose Atlantic with a bit more sweetness. This is not a challenging scent. No oud, screamwoods (looking at you, Delina), sourness or leafy green photorealism here. Sometimes you just want something pretty and easy to wear. Rrose fits the bill perfectly. It's fresh, feminine, floral, clean without being soapy. I can't help but love it everytime I put it on.

A bright, clean, slightly soapy rose. This is beautiful. If you don’t already have a nice green rose fragrance in your collection, this would be a good one to get. It’s classic rose but also fresh and a little zesty. Rrose bears resemblance to a couple other rose frags I already own, as I’m a big lover of rose-dominant fragrances, but I still ended up buying a travel-size spray of this. It’s just so versatile — you can really wear this for any occasion.

I tried this nearly a year ago at Blue Mercury and fell in love with it, but couldn't justify the cost at the time. I just picked up the 1.7oz at TjMaxx for less than the travel spray typically costs. It's even better than I remembered. A sweet, citrusy, rose fragrance that smells clean and feminine. Strong citrus-floral opening to me and bergamot mid notes, fade to a light, powdery, barely-there rose. I adore this fragrance. Perfect for spring.

My first proper introduction to the world of fragrances. This perfume is a stunning take on a fragrant rose at the heart, with brightening citrus wrapped around it from the top notes, finishing with a vanillary base. Performs very well on skin and clothes and a prolific compliment getter.

I love this kind of rose, very fresh, good for summer days. I like the idea behind the brand of a more natural ingredients in perfumes. As much as I love perfume, sometimes I have a feeling that they negatively affect my health. I would try more from this company.

I usually hate scents that are really rose forward, but I adore this. I wouldn’t wear it on it’s own, since it’s my really my vibe, but I do love layering it with a darker scent like Velvet+ from Commodity.

This is just a beautiful old fashioned rose. I love it. It's also less harsh on your skin and doesnt leave a nasty rash from abuse like synthetic perfumes do

A rose scent for those who dislike rose! This is clean, fresh, and a touch soapy. Moderate sillage and longevity. I can't wait to wear this in warm weather.

Fresh rose and lemons. Simple and clean. Really lovely to wear in the winter for a pick me up on the coldest Chicago days.

As a child of the 80’s, it reminds me of a modern day Liz Claiborne. The og triangle perfume and I’m here for it.

This is my most favourite rose scents! So fresh and beautiful

Rose scented fragrances tend to be hit or miss for me, but Rrose is the exception here. Unlike the jammy rose found in Delina, or the potent rose in Tea Rose, this is a wonderfully blended rose that's mellow and almost a bit creamy. The base notes really help to calm down the tang that a rose scent can bring, making it light and inoffensive. Outside of that creamy, fresh rose scent though, I don't get much else. I can't particularly pick out the peony or cassis, and I don't smell pear or lemon at all. This is very linear rose, on me at least, and so while I do enjoy this scent, I don't find it to be remarkable or entirely unique. The projection is fairly good, though, as is the longevity. It lasted for a good five hours on me, and that was with only spraying it once.

This is nice and fresh, though it's initial blast is UBER soapy! I was trying to put in the "Reminds me of" section, Ralph Lauren's Romance. I've tested Romance time and time again, (first time being 2012ish) I purchased a sample vial recently to see if my feelings towards it changed, and it has but it's not a like for me, just an ok. What I get in the top notes is what I basically got throughout my day's dosage-harsh soapy cleanliness in a bad way, if that makes sense. And don't get me wrong, I LOVE me some soapy goodness but I think Rrose Ellis Brooklyn smells better than Romance in the sense that the fragrance actually develops into some pretty lush roses and tea while wearing it. I may just purchase a small size.

I bought this because I love rose scents, Marcel Duchamp and androgyny. On me, this smells exactly like Milani lipstick (from the early aughts, at least -- they have changed it since then). Sweet sharp floral-powder candy wax, cloying in the back of the throat. I was disappointed every time I wore it. On my wife, it smells excellent. Lemon, rose and a little vegan musk blending with her skin into something greater. It's not even particularly sweet and has that rose-but-make-it-skin quality it's supposed to. I'm glad I saved it all those years so she could have it and wear it now. Maybe I just low-key smell like lipstick as a baseline. But this definitely is affected by body chemistry; not a blind buy.

This is basically a rose scent. It is nice tho. It starts off with a crisp, clean, slightly honeyed rose. Clean but not soapy. The citrus is not obvious just in the background adding a little bit of a clean, bright quality. Stays this way for most of the wear. The dry down is similarly rosey but the musk and cassis come out more prominently. ( I never got the pear.) Basically an all season rose. But I personally would prefer it in spring. Longevity is pretty great. Especially for a floral. I like how it stays rose dominant for hours. A pretty, clean (but not soapy) rose. I will wear it. Not my all time favorite rose but as a floral lover I definitely enjoy it. Worth a try for rose fans.

I'm not a fan of rose perfumes, but I do love this brand and I blind bought a travel size for a decent price. And while it definitely is rose forward, it's very fresh and dewy. Aquatic for sure. And as many other mentioned this is a rose scent for people that really aren't into rose. It's the main star, but the lotus, peony and the muskiness prevents it from being one of those nasty, vintage rose perfumes. You know which ones! I rarely use my travel size so it's not full bottle worthy for me. The price tag is a bit high for the poor performance. If you love rose perfumes don't go blind buying this one.

This is quite a nostalgic, 90s-early 2000s scent. A bright, fresh rose, with a slight acerbic twist from the lemon note. Very similar to Clinique Happy or even Elizabeth Arden Green Tea, but slightly more complex, more garden-y than soapy. Perhaps I was also tempted by the Duchamp-inspired name, but I find this to be quite an intriguing scent that develops beautifully and sometimes surprises. Like most Ellis Brooklyn fragrances, it's elegant without being showy. Don't expect any sexiness from it, but something perfectly clean, sterile, and generally likeable.

I bought the Ellis Library discovery set. I agree that this is a rose for those who typically don't like rose. It's a type of fruity floral scent that Victoria's Secret would feel comfortable selling. It's not heavy whatsoever, it's very bright, fresh, and clean. It also smells vaguely familiar to me. Reminds me of the mid-late 2000s, maybe there were some popular fragrances back then that smelled like this. Despite it's lack of originality, it's the most pleasant that I've tried out of the set of 8.

I truly think this is one of the best simple rose fragrances out there. While some may say it's generic, I truly find the rose to be vibrant and green, with the perfect amount of clean coming from the peony. The dry down is super gentle and creates this cozy skin musk. I don't get the lemon at all, which I see are most of the complaints. Longevity isn't great, but that's because it becomes a skin scent very quickly. If you're looking for an everyday gentle rose, this is a really simple and safe one.

Let me start off by saying I am NOT a fan of rose scents. This, however, I adore. It’s a fresh, green, vibrant rose and it harmonizes so beautifully with the peony - I gave a hard time deciding which one of those two accords is more dominant. They seem to fade in and out equally strong. A very young fragrance, great to dip your toes in if you’re wanting to go more floral when previously you weren’t a floral fan.

Imagine sitting in a white claw foot tub with the warmth of the sun hitting your face and the tub is overflowing with bubbles and rose petals. Rrose is a clean, smooth, soapy rose and it gives me flashbacks of something from the 90’s that I can not quite put my finger on yet. But she is pretty, feminine, and nostalgic and likely a safe blind buy for any rose lover.

The opening was a strong green rose! I can also smell the hints of pear and cassis which brings this perfume to a different level. As a male, I find this rose fragrance unisex and a very clean scent! Something you can wear in the office or on a lunch date! Blind bought this because it was on sale and am pleased with it, especially if you are a rose lover.

Soapy, clean rose. Very fresh, pleasant and non offensive. An easy wear during the spring and summer months. I typically like a jammy, deep and sexy rose but I like this for days when I don’t want to “stand out”, and just want those “clean girl” vibes. Lasts and projects really nicely for such a soft scent!

This is truly a lovely fresh, rose peony on me. I like that even after dry down, you still have some freshness and that the base notes are discernable and balanced with the fresh floralness. I don't know if I love it enough to buy a bottle, but I certainly wouldn't turn one down in a swap.

A safe, fresh rose scent that you’ve likely encountered many times in your life. Still, it’s a very pleasant perfume and my favorite from this brand. The longevity isn’t great; after about three hours, I need to reapply. Overall, many of Ellis Brooklyn's offerings seem generic to me.

A clean, soapy fragrance where rose and peony are the dominant notes. Rose can be very hit or miss for me - often I either love or hate rose fragrances, but this has a rose note that veers fresh rather than heavy. Inoffensive, light, enjoyable, but not quite a love for me.

Dew-flecked blushing roses, peonies sticky with sap, and bright and watery citrus. A springtime float in a flower-filled canoe, lemonade in a crystal goblet, hair piled up into a cloud like a Belle Époque beauty.

This was in a discovery set and it's my favorite. Very light rose scent with a light citrus smell to balance it out and keep it from being heavy and too mature. It reminds me of clean laundry in a garden.

Very fresh rose scent. Nothing special about it, it doesn't last too long, it's not overwhelming, doesn't smell like grandma. It's pleasant and fleeting, like a cute barista you met one day.

It's rose. There's not a whole lot to say. It's a pleasant, on-the-nose rose. Not dusty, but I can't pick up the fruity notes. Just... Rose.

Let me potentially deinfluence anyone who is currently tempted into buying a bottle just because it's currently 50% off. Rrose reminds me of a rose water that's been sitting in a cabinet for a few years and still smells nice for the most part but has also gone slightly off. In theory, Rrose should be a light, airy, even soapy (as others have said) floral: and it almost almost almost is, but some notes in it are clashing and manifesting as a sort of "dirty" aftersmell. I'm almost certain that one of the culprits is cassis, and I think it's clashing with the musk because the musk is trying to pull the fragrance into the realm of the soft and gentle while the cassis is trying for brightness, overt sweetness, and sharp edges. I feel like this would have been a great hit a few decades ago, but today, it feels a little dated and ever so slightly "off." Ultimately, this is nothing special but not actively unpleasant either.

Rose for those who dislike rose. Like all Ellis Brooklyn scents, this one smells very synthetic. Which is not to say bad, just that if you're looking for a super realistic rose, this one may disappoint. This smells like if a rose were created in sterile lab. This is a very modern take on rose, with none of the vintage, old fashioned feeling many (not me!) dislike. The synthetic rose is the dominant note, nearly eclipsing everything else. I do get the pear note, which EB does well. Other than the rose and pear, I can't pick out anything individually. A bright, fresh, sparkly, fruity rose. Nothing to write home about, but could be very appropriate for the office or a garden party.

Amazed how much people love this. To my nose, it opens with a strong petrol gasoline smell..not sure where that comes from. Although it quickly disappears, it becomes a typical rose perfume, nothing special. There is something in the drydown that smells off to my nose. Fortunately, I only have the travel size. And it doesn't have much in the way of performance, so I didn't have to live very long with it. I do have some wonderful rose perfumes, so maybe that's it. My favorite rose perfumes are Nirvana Rose, and Fleur Fatale by Kk. I guess I don't need another one.

I don't dislike this one, but it's another Ellis Brooklyn that doesn't even last an hour on my skin. However, it will last into the next day on clothing! A fresh, slightly soapy, citrus-scented rose. Very pretty and realistic. This rose perfume is fresh and not too citrusy/too musky/too powdery, etc. It's just right for a wearable fresh rose. If only it lasted much longer.

This has that weird sour rose scent. It does get better as it dries down, but the rose is completely dominant and very heavy. It might be the lemon contributing to the sour note, but either way, it’s not a pleasant sour note. I’m really just not a rose person, so this isn’t for me. But to be fair, it is an interesting blend.

A fresh, crisp, simple rose. I like rose scents, but I'm also picky with them. This one is just a tad too sharp for my liking, although it's not horrible. Ellis Brooklyn definitely has better fragrances in their lineup, imho, but someone looking for a simple rose might love this one.

It's a slightly sweet, very soapy rose scent. It's not exceptional, but it's not so bad that I want to scrub it off. Honestly, it reminds me a bit of my grandmother's decorative soaps in her bathroom. Nice to have tried in the discovery set, but nothing I would add to my wishlist.
