Super Amber

So far, this is my favorite from Ellis Brooklyn. I gravitate toward these types of smells - you know, Another 13, Nemat Amber, Dedcool Milk. My only gripe is that I wish they were beastly and not the faint whispers of something beautiful that I can't smell after 5 minutes. But maybe that's the point? Anyway, Super Amber is lovely - warm, enveloping, ambery musks that smell like the feeling of being wrapped in a warm blanket, the feeling you get when the sun warms your cold skin. It's only slightly woody, made a little sweet by vanilla orchid. Airy and elevated. A touch chemical. Pleasant, safe office scent. I would definitely purchase the full bottle. 8/10

I kind of love this and can’t figure out why! Definitely a straightforward amber/musk but the fact that it’s basically a single note makes it seem weirdly sophisticated. I feel like, to me, this smells the way Santal 33 smells to other people - like I’m sexy and I have my shit together and I remember to wash my face overnight and my apartment is decorated in a cool, unisex way. You know? Like, this is the scent of someone who owns a lot of neutrals, but in nice fabrics. I wish it had better projection - a scent like this needs it. Not sure if I’ll buy the bottle but definitely using up my sample.

I love this fragrance. It's cozy and lovely. I agree with reviews that describe it as warm and musky. Personally I smell some sweetness. To me it reads as very feminine, but really there are no rules so anyone can wear it :). I use it in the fall and winter, and every so often in spring/summer. I like to spray my sweater drawer with it too so there's a faint fragrance when I wear sweaters. It's insane to me that some say they can't smell, but I have a strong sense of smell. For me it's incredibly pleasant and unobtrusive. Feels like a hug in fragrance form.

Smells just like Xtra Milk by Dedcool, which I wear on a daily basis and adore. Strongly a “skin-scent” fragrance. I find it intoxicating and perfect for mixing with other perfumes. I’m surprised to read from others that it smells like JHAG’s Not a Perfume since I’m anosmic to that scent, but this one and Xtra Milk read loud and clear. I could see myself getting this after running out of Xtra Milk but no reason otherwise since they are so similar (and Dedcool is much cheaper).

I have no idea what others are smelling but for me this is such a beautiful, comfortable fragrance. I purchased the travel size from Sephora and I’m in love! To me it is not sweet, does not smell like JHAG not a perfume or garbage as others have stated. It literally smells like bare skin but better. When I first sprayed it on I could barely smell anything at all but within 3-4 minutes it bloomed. Definitely getting a full bottle when my travel size runs low

Blast of perfumer’s alcohol, quickly smells pretty close to JHAG Not a Perfume but I catch a difference because of the virginia cedar note. It’s more like, Not a Perfume and Superdose (both JHAG scents) combined to make one big scent. Not what I expected from the notes or the bottle color. I don’t think I would buy this. I would just stick with Not a Perfume because it has strength and longevity on me with a very similar scent profile.

Beautiful layering perfume. I like to layer it with dry woody scents, and it gives them a bit more depth and a hint of sweetness. Even just on its own, it dries down to be an absolutely beautiful skin scent. I want my skin to smell like that all the time. HOWEVER.. it is overpriced and the longevity is not great. I'm on the hunt for a perfume just like this that performs a little better.

I go back and forth with this one. One minute I love it, and the next minute I'm indifferent. Luckily I don't notice any nauseating undertones on me personally. On my skin, it reminds me a lot of Another 13, but more rounded, warm, and just a bit sweet. Definitely a skin scent that wafts about randomly during the day. I feel that I can notice it for about 6 to 8 hours of wear.

*Sigh* Another Ellis Brooklyn frag I need a full size of. I adore this amber. For some reason I feel like I get some patchouli from it. It's a well-rounded, woody amber and it develops beautifully on my skin. Sometimes amber can smell a little like a hippie shop to me. This doesn't, it's elegant and to me it's an evening smell. Perfectly unisex too, I love it!

This has become a staple in my fall and winter lineup. I smelled this when I received a sample of it with another Ellis Brooklyn fragrance and immediately had to have it. This is perfect worn alone or layered with other fragrances. I find myself picking it up when I want to transition one of my late summer scents into an early fall fragrance.

This perfume is so deliciously warm. It's not the smell of sitting by a fire, but the feeling of it. It's the feeling of being cuddled under a big warm blanket on a cool fall or winter evening. This layers so well with gourmands, giving them the feeling of being freshly out of the oven. I am absolutely obsessed with this perfume.

i got this as a christmas gift and i'm so so excited over it! i'm a huge amber lover so this to me could do no wrong. the strong musky and vanilla notes seem to linger on my skin for an insanely long time, YESSSS. this fragrance is so mouth-watering to me.

I find it a bit like Another 13 but less floral, less fresh, but more woody (the wood here is like old paper). This is an incomplete version of the A13, feel older :v but still good for me

Wasn't sure what to expect, based on reviews, but it's a solid like for me. On my skin it has a similar experience to not a perfume, where I get a lot of alcohol when I spray but it instantly dries down to a nearly undetectable, vaguely clean scent. I find the drydown on super amber to be a bit more cozy, with a hint of vanilla, as opposed to the like sterile freshness I get from NAP. Almost like skin by clean reserve if it had the projection of NAP. Luckily my nose doesn't pick up on any pencil shavings or bad breath/mothballs, like other comments have mentioned. I don't smell much but what I do smell it good and not identical to any other skin scents I've tried. I could definitely see myself picking up a bottle of this if I found it on sale, but the price is a little high for what it is, especially since it's the only type of fragrance I actually go through quickly. Personally I prefer to stick to cheaper options like dossier's NAP dupe, nemat amber, bbw indigo dreams, etc, so I can spray as much as I want.

I destroyed the pen spray in a couple of weeks and ordered the the 50ml bottle ASAP after finishing the mini. On me this smells like Nemat Amber + my skin after being in hot sunshine all day + a tiny bit of a refreshing, light sweetness (like lotion from the night before). Within 30 min of application it smells lived-in and clings close to my skin, at the same time I can smell it rising with the steam when I take my end-of-day shower and wafting off my clothes when I do laundry days later. I also enjoy Salt from this same line, so whatever is in their scents to give them an animalic twist works well with me, but that might be what some are finding to be funky about this one. TLDR - For me? Super Amber Super Awesome:)

This is sweeter than I was expecting, which is a good thing. On a cool late Fall day, this scent is pleasant, warm and cozy. I don't have a ton of experience with ambers, but back in 2005 I used to wear Amber Romance by Victoria's Secret and this reminds me somewhat of that scent. Update: Several hours later, it's still the same. But it's kinda boring. If I was into layering, this would be an excellent option for an amber for that purpose. I can still smell it on my skin the next morning.

Very similar to not a perfume for me, where on first spray it's like straight alcohol but dries down almost instantly to a hardly detectable vaguely clean scent—although the drydown on this has a hint of vanilla sweetness to me. I don't mind it, and I think I might eventually buy a bottle if I found it on sale, but personally I prefer nemat amber, decool milk, and dossier's NAP dupe for my go to skin scents since they're more affordable (and it's the one type of perfume I use up quickly).

I have almost all of the Ellis Brooklyn fragrances and this is one of only two that I actually like (The other one is West. The rest have a weird note that smells like pickles to me) so I am a bit surprised to see such negative reviews. On me this perfume smells like a spicy second skin. It is definitely a skin scent and it feels warm and is soft and inoffensive. I don't know that I will rebuy but I do enjoy the bottle that I have and will wear it.

This reminds me of Juicy Glistening Amber without the smoke/incense accord. In the opening there’s this weird dank note, so I get why people might think it smells like morning breath, but after that it disappears and dries down into a straight forward, strong-projecting amber. I can smell this in the air all around me even when I just spray a tiny bit on my wrists. I think it’s nice and warm on my skin but it probably doesn’t work for everyone.

When you first spray it the sillage is a beautiful warm woody scent however on skin it smells a bit dank or moldly. It's not listed, but it reminds me of the note of cashmeran. This only lasts an hour or so and then that note goes away. It’s not a heavy perfume but has a lovely sillage. I can smell it wafting around me. I’m really enjoying it so far and will pick up a bottle!

The scent of this amber is beautiful. I really love the way it smells but it doesn’t project at all and doesn’t last long. I’d purchased a travel spray and used it up quickly but wouldn’t purchase a full size because of the lack of projection and longevity. It’s a shame because it’s one of my fav amber fragrances.

As a nemat amber stan I do love this. Its the closest ive come to a edp that smells like the nemat oil! She is polarizing but I love her on my skin so creamy cozy fuzzy Edit- the drydown is where this shines. There is some funk in the first like 15-20 mins and I can see where ppl get the mothball thing.

Literally what the name says- she's super ambery. Nemat amber and Dedcool Xtra Milk serve the same purpose- just a solid, grounded amber that is nice to layer with or put on on those days where everything is giving you a headache or you just need something super linear/with minimal notes.

Begins very ambery it smell almost exactly like Not a Perfume. It smells earthy and warm, and it’s relatively faint on my skin. It’s woodier than JHAG, but a little sweeter too. I wish it was stronger. The definition of a skin scent. It’s like someone forgot to layer the top notes.

If Althaïr farted, it would smell like this. The most faint whisp of Amber and Musk. I am not much of a fan of either, but it's truly not a bad fragrance. It's just very faint with no projection. I also could see someone's relation to cigarette smoke if I really focus on it.

This is lovely! I was sure it would have caramel in it as I smell that but alas it does not. The vanilla orchid is really strong in this one. The dry down is super beautiful but it does not last long, literally gone in half an hour and I spray a lot!

Sooo I left a sample of this in my jeans and I did laundry. All my clothes have this sweet amber scent that now makes me want to get a big bottle and spray all my clothes with it. It’s very pleasant and not imposing.

i get that rose isn't one of the notes but why does this remind me of a lighter version of elizabeth and james "rose"? am i crazy? am i trippin? either way, i love it. it's simple :) lacks longevity though.

Soft amber musk with a boost of cedar. Office-safe, skin-scent and despite the intimate silage, I am frequently complimented when I wear it

Am a little surprised to se the many very strong opinions about this rather simple fragrance... So as I had a small bottle of this that I got the other day on an advent calender I decided to try it out today and see for myself what all the fuss was about... To me however this is a rather simple amber scent that once it dries down really becomes just a nice but rather simple amber heavy frag with a tiny bit of woodyness and if I try really hard and am kind I can maybe detect some tiny hint of a sweetened flower note in the very far background as well. (I have no idea what a vanilla orchid is or if there really is such a thing but I would say that whatever that is it is not something particularly detectable in this composition...). The beginning however seems to be what most people review here is however a bit different. I do certainly think comparing this to things like semen however is taking things quite a bit out or proportion... unless people who think so has some seriously funky smelling spunk... 😝 But there is some kind of rather unexpected overtone of something different in the beginning which is not really pleasant. (Or it is depending on preference...) And I can’t really tell if it’s thought through and there for a reason or if it’s a by product of the rather strong synthetic form of amber that still is the main feature of this scent once it dries down. This “overtone” or side note reminds a bit of the kind of scents one can detect when walking into a mechanic work shop or a tyre changing shop... A k a some heavy rubbery and petroleum kind of note. Which can be a bit off putting especially if you are drawn to this fragrance thinking it will be a yummy cozy amber fragrance perfect for sitting by a fireplace waiting for Christmas... Or like a more simple amber scent for warm summer afternoons in the sun... But this side note will subside and disappear almost completely once the scent dries down on the skin. At least if you can refrain from over spraying this as then the rubbery petroleum mechanic shop thing will be able to linger on a bit longer... But if you don’t over spray then what remains once in dry down is a simple but still ok warm ambery frag with a bit of woodyness.

I'm surprised to see so many negative reviews for what is, to my nose, a really basic and even boring musk. It's similar to one of those molecule/not-a-perfume scents; EB's own Iso Gamma Super is probably the backbone of this fragrance. It's a little bit heavier on the musk and lighter on the pencil shavings, and with a hint of vanilla, but the "molecule" DNA is strong. To me, it smells as artificial as similar fragrances, but no more. I think this is a perfectly nice, inoffensive skin scent that's fine on its own and good for layering. More than is the case with other houses, I sometimes feel out of step with other reviewers' assessments of Ellis Brooklyn's fragrances. The cozy sweetness others get from their "Bee" is, to me, a mountain of Sweet'N Low. And the nightmare-inducing halitosis disaster of their "Super Amber" that raises others' hackles is, to me, a very ordinary skin scent. But admittedly I'm now hesitant to wear it in public lest people around me pick up on the sewer/toxic sludge vibes it's giving others. I don't know, if your morning breath smells like generic white musk and ambroxan, tell me your secret!

An ugly alcoholic sharp opening and you'll quickly go anosmic to it but yes it is neamat oil but a perfume version on the dry down. It has that faint sweet and woody amber-vanille and possible iso-e-super, IGS or timbersilk base smiliar to Molecule 01. It's a pretty and delicate skin scent. Edit: somone mentioned it smells like JHAG not a perfume, also somewhat true. Also this perfume kind of comes off as the combo of Molecule 01 by Escenteric Molecules and Amber by Neamat. Edit #2: did a quick comparison with Molecule 01 and they are not the same, M01 leans masc as this leans a bit feminine and is more lightweight, anyways both are 1 of a kind and I might get them. Edit#3: got a bottle, it's small, plus the scent is barely there (cost: 122$, at ULTA), I'm starting to hate it so before I completely regret buying it I'll be returning it soon. Edit#4: disowned. I got me the neamat edp instead. Projects more than the oil version.

I bought the travel spray to check it out and the house. At first spray it smells intensely like a mix of Warm Butter and Amber. That’s probably not a thing whatsoever but that’s what it smells like to me. I think it’s the Vanilla Orchid that gives it that scent for me. After a bit that buttery note fades away and then it starts to get woodsy. I don’t know...on one hand it’s a nice Amber scent but on the other, I don’t want to walk around feeling like I smell as if I’m ready to butter someone’s biscuit. I know I definitely won’t be buying a bottle...I don’t like it that much but I’ll hold onto the travel size in case I ever get a craving to wear it.

So, I have been searching for a musky amber skin scent that I'm not anosmic to and finally this is it ~ and luckily, on my skin, it smells absolutely BEAUTIFUL! 🤩 I've tried DedCool Milk, Xtra Milk, JHAG NAP, Nemat Amber and other similar fragrance profiles but could not smell them at all. I'm aware that this one is not as popular with most but, perfume is subjective so the low votes on any fragrance don't ever deter me from sampling them. This is a win for me! Yay! 😊 Update: I ended up decluttering this because I never wore it. Oh well.

This one is a very woody skin scent, and I'm not very fond of the way the cedar mixes with the rest of the notes. One thing I will say, is that each note is very distinct and plays a part in the final fragrance for sure. I just am not a huge fan of the final result lol. Not nasty by any means (I wouldn't even say I dislike it), but JHAG NAP and Myth by EB are so much nicer to my nose. This one sort of contradicts itself, one second I find it a little too sweet, the next, too woody.

um.... at first, when i sprayed it on paper, it smelled very warm, ambery with a hint of vanilla somewhere in the background, without being sweet. In other words it smelled amazing.... Until, i sprayed it on my skin... and it LITTERALY began smelling as though someone spray this beautiful perfume on a pile of cow manure. Seriously, cow manure without exaggeration, even with hay notes..... Beautiful scent on its own... but worked terribly with my skin's chemistry

Starts off with a big hit of alcohol, then settles to a nice, but *barely* there amber-vanilla. There's almost something sexy about how faint the scent is. It's like having a delicious secret, or wearing lacy lingerie just for yourself. But at the end of the day I want a perfume I can smell without having my nose literally touching my wrist, and the longer it sits the more I get what people mean when they say it smells like breath, so this is just meh for me.

Initial spray: nothing. I checked after 20 minutes and I could barely, I mean barely smell amber. Started thinking I was crazy and sprayed on my husband. Initially again I could smell nothing but after 5-10 minutes I could finally smell what it’s ~supposed~ to smell like. Pleasant and sweet and amber-y, truly unisex, but my goodness virtually nonexistent unless you’re smelling the skin.

Wants to smell like Nemat Amber, smells similar to Dedcool Xtra Milk to have all of these in your collection is redundant. There is nothing to me that makes this stand out. It is now taking up space amongst the other ambers that all smell the same. We get it. It's amber. I'm bored.

I don't know if it was my skin or the formula, but this is SHARP in the opening. The first spray is headache-inducing like a chemical, and it felt like it was choking me. Once it dried down, it was a nice soft sweet fragrance, but is that really worth the suffering?

This is faint on me but I can smell it considerably better compared to Not A Perfume, Another 13 etc. Super Amber has the added "cold smell of disinfected wood" as a reviewer below so perfectly put it! A bit strange but not unpleasant.

Another 2nd hand purchase. Smells like JHAG's not a perfume on me, but more ambery. Actually, I quite like it. The longevity is great! 6 hours guaranteed. Changed my rating to love from like.

I don't see "burnt tires" as an ingredient, but it's there. Could it be the cedar? I don't know; however, I do know, I don't like it and it is headache inducing.

Maybe I’m anosmic here, but this is SO so faint to my nose. Can’t justify the price for the performance. There are plenty better out there.

Makes me think of a Replica By the Fireplace skin scent.

I am quite perplexed by all the negative reviews! This one is so cozy and makes me want to snuggle down into comfy pyjamas. If this fragrance was a collection of images, the images would be a soft brown rabbit, a warm tea, a familiar and comforting book, a window looking out to falling autumnal leaves. Very Beatrix Potter. Update: Ok so I took a really deep breath in after spraying lots of this on and all of a sudden got a sharp spooky chemical smell that was in complete opposition to the Beatrix Potter vibes. I think I understand the polarised views!!! Either delightful or disturbing depending on the concentration, whiff intensity, and perhaps skin chemistry.
