HAENYEO (해녀)

Not my usual fragrance family, but I ordered a sample of this based off name/meaning alone, and love it! Clean & marine; maybe I’ll be an aquatic girly this spring/summer?

I think if you enjoy Jo Malone Wood Sage & Sea Salt, you will enjoy this. To my nose, it’s crisp, salty, clean, floral. It’s very natural feeling and refreshing.

This was REALLY interesting, and I'm not saying that in a snide way at all--it is an intriguing scent. I don't know if it's because I don't have a lot of experience with aquatic scents, but this is the most realistic saltwater scent I think I have ever encountered. Upon the initial spray, all I got was the pepper top note, but that dissipated fairly quickly and then it was just...ocean. So realistic it made me miss living near the Pacific (I live in a landlocked state now, unhappily). Over time the other notes started to come out and I could smell the iris/florals and amber, but they stayed very much suspended in saltwater. It is unquestionably a gorgeous aquatic scent, but my issue is that I wonder if it doesn't smell TOO oceanic, to the extent that it will be difficult to wear--it's SO unusual that it seems more like an art piece or high fashion, something weird and conceptual rather than intended for everyday use. This also didn't project much on me, and after about three hours it had died down to a very subtle watery floral. I'm going to give it a few more tries (maybe applying with a heavier hand) and see if my thoughts on it evolve--honestly, I am in awe of it but due to its limited wearability I'm not sure I could justify a full bottle.

I really like this smell, and the other commenters gave some good descriptions over the scent. It is aquatic and floral and is just super pleasing. The marine quality elevates it above other “clean girl” or “clean boy” scents but is still adjacent to clean scents. It is unisex IMO, and the scent will transform on a person. If we’re comparing florals, I find this floral to be more masculine than the YSL MYSLF Le Parfum. What I would add is that this scent smells almost exactly like the Mikimoto EDP. In fact, the marketing description is even similar. That’s not meant to cast a negative light on this scent; it’s just meant to provide you with a comparison to add context. I have the Mikimoto EDP and love it for daytime relaxation (e.g. going for a coffee or brunch). If you happen to be able to go to an Elorea store, I would recommend that you spray their scents on you then sit and have a drink at their cafe to revisit how the scent sits on your skin. If you purchase fragrances, your drink will be free (which they can comp if you drink first and buy after).

Pleasant aquatic scent- Leans a little more masculine that what I would find myself wearing daily. I personally enjoy saltier marine notes so I liked how it settled on me. I agree I would've liked just a hint more floral but as a unisex perfume it works. I appreciate the longevity and sillage strength on the Timeless Legacy series is a lot more substantial than the Forgotten Words. However, it won't be a full bottle buy for me.
