Diva Pépite

I love this one more than the original. It is is a little less mossy and slightly tangy-er/more like a red wine. I REALLY appreciate sweaterfreak offering info on this scent below - thank you! - but the info from Gilt's website is incorrect. The info they provide is for Ungaro L'Amour Fou (2012). I found notes listed at PerfumeNZ as well but I don't think those are accurate either; rather they correspond to "Diva Limited Edition EDP", the version in the striking silver bottle. Is it possible that Pepite is just a rebottled version of that limited edition? I don't think so as I don't really get any of the amber or vanilla that are listed in that one. I was able to track down a review on a Russian fragrance site for the silver edition where the reviewer suggested that iris and clove, along with the honeyed moss and rose are the standout notes. If so, then perhaps Pepite actually IS a rebottled version of the silver EDP!?! Pepite translates from French as nugget, as in "nugget of gold".

A fortunate mistake! As I noted below, I purchased this thinking I was purchasing the original Diva. I have no complaints whatsoever! Big, bold, and beautiful, the name Diva suits the fragrance quite well in this instance. I enjoy the tuberose and rose combination here, enhanced by a woody and resinous base. The notes aren't listed here, but I definitely get something slightly balsamic, which prevents the middle notes from becoming too powdery. Someone below mentioned sandalwood, and the more this dries down, the more I can detect it. I am not sure if it is necessary to purchase the original, though it is affordable enough should I choose to. Wearing Diva Pepite is all about attitude, and when I get my inner diva on, I feel perfectly comfortable wearing this with jeans and a sweater, but concede that it would shine brightest at night on a formal occasion when you want to dazzle and be the center of attention!

@Anamandy I have both pepite and original Diva and I can say it's very close to the original but the description on Amazon is not for this one it's for the classic Diva Ungaro These are the description for the Diva Pepite limited edition: :Top notes of mandarin and tuberose, forming a juicy-intoxicating opening which disarms the senses. A heart adds powerful ylang-ylang and Turkish rose, while a base encompasses sandalwood, Florence iris and fine vanilla. Enjoy them both Diva and Diva Pepite which means gold nugget in French there very good 80s vintage feel to them and long lasting IMO GOOD LUCK!

The ultimate Chypre scent but with a stronger powderry honeyed fruity yellow floral nineties feel than the original. As if they poured equal parts original Diva, Bijan, Valentino Vendetta and Nino Cerruti into a vat and created the ideal daytime scent for my chemistry. I get compliments on this one regularly and it is just so beautiful I bought 3x backup 100mls online from a discounter. Buy it if you love 80s and 90s fruity chypres you won't regret it.

Baby Diva indeed, the bold florals have been softened and made gentle, taking a backseat while the powdery sandalwood is given precedence. For some reason I feel like Audrey Hepburn would wear this in Roman Holiday; bright eyed and charming, but no youthful pushover. Good length (8hrs) and no less than arms length sillage, very much floating in your own cocoon. Shines in cooler weather but has to be on a sunny day.

As others have noted this is a softer version of the original with less skank (civet and oakmoss) and slightly sweeter with amped up honey and yellow ylang and narcissus. It's reminiscent of Vancleef, Vendetta, Fendi and Coco. I prefer it over the original. A bargain beauty if you love classic powdery honey floral chypres.

Oh rats!! I just accidentally purchased this thinking it was plain old Diva! Oh well - maybe Fortuna will be kind to me and I will love it. We shall see...

I find the dry down smells like watered Magie Noire+Agent Provocateur's opening. LOVE IT.

Just like OG Diva, this is a powerhouse of the yesteryear, reminiscent of the all-big-everything 80s. It is milder, less animalic and easier to wear than Diva, but very, very similar. As another reviewer said, if you hate Diva, don't bother with this one. I love Magie Noire and was hoping this would be similar to its older editions but I don't find them much alike. MN is way more spiciness and less aldehydes. The notes listed don't make sense to me, there's something sharp, persistent and relentless about Diva Pepite that I could only describe as "Paloma's signature" because so many of the perfumes of that era remind me of Paloma Picasso and nothing from the pyramid looks so assertive. I had the OG Diva and she was a handful, so I gave her away but kind of missed her afterwards. I'm glad I found her sibling and albeit not a love at first scent, this has all the potential to evolve in a mutually respectful relationship.

What I'd like to know for anyone who has it, does it smell like the notes from the Amazon seller above or does it smell like a tuberose, ylang, mandarin, etc. scent, which is another one of the descriptions?

Having just re-bought and experiencing the original Diva EDP.....which was love at first sniff....I thought about giving Pepite a shot. I do like Pepite alot....but it is very different....IMO...on my skin...than DIVA og. I agree with one review below that it has a Magie Noir-ish vibe for sure. Also, this performs way less than the original,but I expected that. It seems to be very unisex too. The woodsy vibe is there from the beginning.....with the florals, IMO, taking "the back seat". As it is drying down, the florals start emerging more....but they are not, IMO, "punchy" like in Diva og. Easier to wear than Diva edp for some people I am sure. Pretty decent performance/sillage. Happy blind buy !!!

If Diva is too much for you, Pépite might work better. Mind you, this remains a powerhouse. Don't lavishly spray it on if you wish to remain low key. Being an old woman, really, I can easily pull off both, but this is like a daytime version as it is less skanky animalic, less deep bellowing, less boudoir heavy, with still a good touch of cream and powder to not lose sight of its iconic mom. A strong like, with increasing iris, ylang-ylang and clean tuberose in dry down. Even more: dry down is divine. Finally, the stopper on my bottle keeps toppling off. I guess it is hinting I should wear it more. Which I will. :-)

Wow, I think I like this more than the original. I'm still getting rose, which was in the original Diva, but here its top billing as star has been upstaged by the tuberose. I can still tell it's Diva, and she's still a Diva, just a little more sensuous, a little sexier (if you can imagine that), and a little headier - and just as gorgeous, glamourous, and over the top as her sister. I love this, but again as with her big sis, where will I ever be able to wear this dramatic masterpiece?

Just to get it out of the way, I hate Diva, Rumba, White Diamonds, Giorgio Beverly Hills, Prophecy, Amarige, Bob Mackey, Maja and Ted Lapidus Creation. That group of vintage floral chemical warfare bombs. Yet I like this perfume a lot, not an absolute love because it's still Diva but I'm not averse wearing this at night or cooler weather. I get oldschool body powder vibes with this one, it's a break for my nose with the gourmand and fruit heavy frags in my rotation.

Diva is in my top 10 for life....so this one is a strong love for me. Is not lighter than the original. It's as loud but not that creamy. Is like the rose is crispier and more realistic. if you don't like Diva you won't like this either.

I am finding all sortes of notes for this perfume...I am so confused! Here is one I found : Subtle notes of oakmoss, sandalwood and patchouli intertwine with notes of jasmine and iris to create a women's perfume that is as unforgettable as the wearer. Or : Top notes:Mandarin, Tuberose Middle notes:Rose, Ylang-Ylang Base notes:Sandalwood,Vanilla,Iris If anyone can clear this out please?

I never liked the original because I thought it was too harsh, so I was happy to see it, unfortunately, no it's fresh true, lighter but stil de honey in it is very sweat and...it's the kind of perfume that can clog your nose and not only that but if you accidentally end up, in an unfortunate case, to deeply inspired it on the mouth...you will need a lemonade because it will actually cause you nausea. It's obvious that Jacques Polge created this because it has some waves that we find in the modern Chanel too, as an aldehyde not aerated but rather fruity but it is the fruit of that past which has already entered the process of sugaring for fermentation and obtaining of ethyl alcohol. It's that melon I think you buy before Christmas and put it in the fridge until January 7-10, it's drowning, sticky, alcoholic, that type of fruit is this aldehyde. Otherwise there are white flowers and it would be a beautiful compound for me, if it were not for this aldehyde or if it were different and if the honey was a little non sweeter, and yes there is less sweet honey in real life, acacia honey, but also in perfumery are types of notes that smell of citrus honey or coniferous honey. I'm sorry that I'm not in the same space with this perfume but not for me. I think you have to like the sweet and heavy things to be able to wear this one, Alien, Chanel 5-9-allure, Givenchy Angel ou Demon, Magie Noire and maybe Organza, things like that. It has nothing to do with Knowing, Estee K is a business perfume, a strong woman perfume, this is I'm sorry, but it may be the girl from a rich family who dreams of finding a man with at least as much money as Dad

I will start by saying " hurray " this one does a bit of the " sour " with an alcohol beginning on me for a few minutes and goes straight for my "jugular " . I get the Ylang Ylang & Iris with a oakmoss and patchouli , musk . I have to be honest , this is a strong scentual in that I spritzed once on right wrist and placed left over it . It is just as strong on both . I do not get any rose right now , I'm hoping I will be able to separate that note once the dry down is longer than 30 minutes , It has continued to get sweeter , now I can smell the pepper which I do enjoy , it is not overwhelming . I do remember the original which I agree with other reviewers , it is a bit stronger than the Pepite. I prefer this one much more . I remember wearing Diva on a cold day and all of a sudden the sun came out and it got a bit warm the scent became a bit cloying , not her fault , but it was not a pleasant experience . I could smell myself coming and going , so could everyone else { Ha } I will wear this winter and autumn as it is the most fitting time for these lovely notes . The name also fits well ~ ///=^}~

Just received Diva Pepite and very well pleased. I also have the first Diva and usually wear it to bed,(hubby enjoys it). I must say the diva petite is really enjoyable. Fresh, light,in not as heavy as the original but the original is still a love. I dont wear it out as much, I have to be in that mood but with pepite I could wear everyday. I you're a Diva lover, then Diva Petite you will really appreciate. I cant say much more than what's already been said about the notes and they're basically correct. Its a love for me. I do get a nice feminine powdery smell which I like. I must say too, that after a couple of hours it has a juicy green but lovely floral smell to it. The original Diva is sweeter and deeper but still good, shes my boudoir frag for sure, but DP can go outside and play even if shes an oldie shes still a goodie!

Interesting I do not pick up any of the notes listed above - I wish it were!. I agree with there being likeness to Knowing & COCO & Magie Noire ..if these were all in concoction and watered down and sheered out. What I do get is a restrained floral Chypre - somewhat honeyed floral Narcissus & hyacinth in beginning, clean powdery aldehydes, roses and moss, and bitter notes (but not galbanum) and a restrained opulence. As it develops the Rose Chypre vibe is more obvious, along with dusty bitter powder. This is a fickle one, it will be dependent on weather and own skin as to how it will play out, right now it’s not singing on me, it’s a cool but highly humid cloudy day, maybe it’s better in spring? Or depths of winter? We shall see.

The notes are missing on Fragrantica. Here is the pyramid translated from a French site. I'm not sure it's 100% accurate, but it seems to match with what I'm smelling. Head: Mandarin, Tuberose Heart: Ylang-ylang, Turkish Rose, Sandalwood Base: Florentine Iris, Vanilla Pépite translates as nugget and sometimes as an affectionate nickname. Diva Pépite is a little nugget of the original. It's a lighter, slimmed-down version. This flanker is missing the oakmoss and civet. The rose is more dewy fresh than overly ripe as it is in the original. The fruity and iris notes are more prominent giving Pépite a lightness and freshness that makes it work for day. If the original is too much for you, then Pépite is a great option.

From my saved notes when this used to be for sale previously on the Gilt website (not sure of their accuracy), for those who might be wondering the difference between this and the other/original Diva(s): FRAGRANCE NOTES: Pear, blackberry, pink pepper, violet, rose, nectarine, cashmere, vanilla, amber. The floriental - woody composition is developed by Veronique Nyberg. The fragrance opens with fruity and juicy notes of pear, blackberry and pink pepper. The heart includes violet, rose and nectarine, while the base is created of cashmere, vanilla and amber.

If you read the accords and notes imagine pot pourri overlaid. Imagine dried moss over top of the notes. A slight cleanness but overall it is what it is. The honey is bark like, these days I think I'd describe chypre as mossy overlay of whatever the notes say. This isn't animalistic at all.. This is I the realm of estee beautiful, and the other 80s bombshells... I mostly don't like them, this is tolerable. Not my genre really, but might be worth a layering?

I got a bottle of this, very reasonably priced, at fragrancenet.com. Similar to the original, but with its own personality. I wear it a lot.

Does Pepite have tuberose as one of its notes, like the original Diva?
