Ungaro Pour L'Homme III Oud

A bit different for a "designer oud" scent, as it is leathery but it doesn't go into that fruity Tuscan Leather direction. The oud-ish element is mild and while I get some dusty cocoa-ish quality, it's mild too. Instead, it's mostly a dry leathery scent fortified with a little non-animalic musk and spice. It's not especially strong but it persists well. I think the cocoa had to be strengthened to get this to the point where many (including myself) might say it's a great, niche-like scent for the price. As it is, I'd say it's a good light oud scent that is mostly notable for the dry but not harsh leathery quality. If you don't want to spend much on a strong medicinal oud scent along the lines of Montale's Black Aoud, there is Jovan's. And I do agree with those who see a similarity with Derby Club Ascot, but that one has more notes and I think the composition is a bit cruder.

The cacao pod being prominent here is a good thing as it adds originality, gourmandise and masculinity to an otherwise neutral scent. The combination of pepper, cardamom, and medicinal 'oud' merge into a faint smell of woody ash and embers. It draws in my mind the picture of a man warming himself up, on a cold winter night, sipping hot cocoa by his cabin's tiny fireplace. It's a warm, bittersweet, deeply contemplative, serious but enticing, timeless and highly masculine smell. The main downsides for me are: no actual oud, slightly dry, and very much limited to winter nights. This is a phenomenal men's winter fragrance. With higher quality ingredients, this could've absolutely been a masterpiece. Scent: 8.5 + Versatility: 2.5 Value: 10

A fabulous fragrance. I love the original Ungaro iii pour Homme which is a fantastic rose fragrance that smells avant-garde. This smells so much darker, deeper, woodier, spicier. It borders on slight gourmand territory almost like the wood was soaked in dessert and keeping the sweetness in check. The dry down has some pumpkin spice like feeling and it happens towards the 12-hour mark and it last even longer than that on the skin. Absolutely worth the bargain price that it can be found at.

This one grew on me, now I like it. It's a strong cacao oud combo with apocalyptic performance. Ultra rich, dark, sweet, warming, cuddly, drinking hot chocolate in a cabin in the woods. Middle way between gourmand and woody oriental. It's a "love it or hate it" one, some will say it's for mature gentlemen, others will find it even unisex, you have to try it. It's bargain price definitely unexpected for such a creative and good performance fragrance.

Hated this at first. Put it away. Then one day sprayed it on my shirt before bedtime and kept smelling something oud and coca sweet. Then realized this smells awesome on cloth and not my skin. Finding myself reaching for it over my other more expensive fragrances. The sweetness is not the boring sugary sweet like most designers, but it is deeper sweet of cocoa with pleasant oud. this is now top 5 in my collection.

I blind bought it. It's underrated, it's inexpensive. Does not smell cheap or synthetic. Very good performance. It's a very VERY GOOD Oud fragrance pour homme. The Oud and the Cacao make an extraordinary blend. Spices and Cardamom provide the necessary opening notes base for you to be prepared for what's comming.. I do recomend it. EDIT: By the way, I already bought a backup bottle. That's how much I like it.

I have been discoureged to buy this fragrance by some bad reviews. This oud chocolate EDT turns out to be a very well above average cold weather cologne, with a magnific scent and performance. I do recomend it!!!!!

Performance update: After wearing it couple of times from early morning till evening; I am more than satisfied. This simply does the job, it projects very well, 4 sprays goes for 6-7 hours easy with significant projection. The scent is much better when it tones down a bit. Simply exceeds expectations for its price. I tend to love the trend of European takes on oud, and Ungaro Pour L`Homme III Oud did not disappoint. It’s best described as an oud infused aromatic with fougere touches. The fact that it doesn't have any common oud-rose accord is a big plus in my opinion because you immediately move away from the floriantal, middle eastern vibe. I think the clean oud rendition is a very versatile accord and novel when used in Mediterranean style scents. This one opens up very peppery sharp, crisp - almost citrusy but surprising to not find any citrus notes in the official notes. Instead of cardamom, I would blind guess notes of nutmeg, patchouli, oakmoss, geranium (or just its dark Citronellol aspect). I agree with @Cdmca, it is giving hints of salty/aspirin scent in the background. It's not disturbing but can only be noticed when smelled close on the skin.

To my nose, when sprayed on skin, the cacao is very dry, and comes off smelling a bit like an ashtray. Either this, or there is a dry tobacco accord in the scent. On clothes the scent is different, and is more of a clean tobacco which I like better, so I spray this on my clothes rather than skin. The oud kicks in fairly quickly for me, and again, it all smells very dry. I wish the cacao pod was more like what I experience with Guerlain L'Instant, but contrary to other opinions below, I don't get that. The final drydown is all about the oud for me, and it is very pleasant. This is not a beast mode oud scent. It is a good, inexpensive cold weather everyday scent, and I can wear it to the office. It has decent longevity (6 hrs). I prefer One Man Show Oud Edition, and Franck Olivier Oud Touch to this, since they are in the same cheap oud category, but it's not bad.

This is an excellent designer oud offering for the budget-conscious fragrance enthusiast. I would second zakkarah assessment that this does not deviate too much from the average designer oud, as far as the rose-free oud aspect is concerned. For example, I found it quite close to Jacques Bogart's One Man Show Oud Edition from an oud-note angle. However, oud is not the whole story here, and what sets Ungaro pour l'Homme III Oud apart is the cacao note that is as prominent as the oud. The cacao is done quite well, and reminds me of L'Instant de Guerlain pour Homme. Performance is at least good, as far as I can tell from my first few samplings.

it's Discontinued 💔💔what a shame!! no Alternatives either this reminds me of child hood back to early 80's (81-82) with a 70's vibe ladies this should be a hard pass this is not feminine at all!! how ever it is cheap enough for a blind buy may be something to spray a body pillow for those lonely nights imagining a man there (I'm a realist) this has a very deep Cocoa oudy-ness to it it don't smell synthetic either honestly is not a love at the moment or a like but not a dislike either at least not enough to market as such will have to give a few wearing's to figure that out any who GodBless<3

This is a nice one. It lasts for hours and projects really good. Opening is a bit sharp but the drydown is much smoother. In my opinion, it could use a bit bolder cardamom or some other supporting aromatic notes to smoothen out the dark dirty oud in it. Overall it's a good take on oud in my opinion. It's very masculine; like a lot! -- to the point that I was surprised.

So i think of the Armaf line of fragrances with this one. It's not gonna blow your skirt up at first, you will warm up to it, and at the price point, you realize this is a pretty solid fragrance. Opening, not my favorite. it's pretty pungent to start. it's not horrible but it's just personally not my favorite. Doesnt take too long though for it to settle on clothes into a warm, dark, smooth scent of Cocoa and oud with the cardamom lingering about. Once it settles, thats where it shines and it does for a fairly good amount of time. sprayed it on over the weekend during the afternoon, going into the cold winter evening and it was performing well. GF noticed the new scent without me telling her. I think this is a good oud winter scent for someone new to dark oud scents, once you get past the opening, i think it can be a pleaser for men in the cold. i like it. i think many would too. blind buy recommended.

Under the radar worth collecting perfume. Imagine Humphrey Bogart sitting and smoking at the corner. Just observing and staring on everyone. A reserved man, refined breed with classy stance but carrying a stunning appeal. This is how I describe Ungaro III Oud. Although the scent only has an hour or two projection, the interesting part is the lingering warm spicy, mild cream, dry sensual either or/with tobacco, resins and woods at the dry down. A nuance of body odor smell, in a good way. Ungaro III Oud will compliment cigarette smokers. It also has some impressions from other perfumes. The smell initially is very spicy, soft oud and yes, no rose this time. It reminded me of a very mild Faqat Lil Rijal with amped spices. It is mysterious and classy. Then cocoa pod kicks in for a vibe of Jean Paul Gaultier's Kokorico. It was a brief nuance so do not be put off, for Kokorico haters. Soft cocoa and oud, with spices and woods. No florals, no oakmoss not even citrus or patchouli but there is mild freshness (non-soapy, non-aquatic)and sweetness. Just the classy woody spicy and an oriental fougere category. By heart to early base, I can also smell some here and there of Creed Royal Oud and Halston Man Amber. It was a cozy, upscale and classy scent adventure with surprise compliments despite it's stunning softness. Again, a very impressive, lingering close to skin aroma. Seasons? Colder days and nights. Ungaro III Oud is for formal (for smokers too), party (when sweating)and close quarter scenarios. The black bottle, font with gold plating presentation looks high end and stunning. The juice, no contest for me; worth a back-up.

The middle notes get complicated, with the woods and spices peeking through, a bit of a mess but not in a bad way. Very powdery and creamy in the dry down and there is an unmistakably sharp salt/aspirin deep note that remains and remains every time you take a deep wiff, not in a bad way, but it is there in a very chemical, metallic, medicinal (think taste of a pill) manner. I like this as it is unique. Starts fresh with the pepper and gets dirrty. Oud? Yes, it's hiding there but it's not the lead role. Fleeting moments are reminiscent of Creed Royal Oud but the other aspects are too weird and present to let oud steal the spotlight.

siemrpe me han atraído los extremos... Conocer los límites de los cuales siemrpe se puede llegar más alla!.. Y entre los perfumes creo que ungaro III Oud es digno de mencionarse... No solo por su olor a Oud chocolatoso con un toque de humo que llega a ser.. smog... Sino también por esa sensación que me dejan sus acordes dulces, que me recuerdan al poco minucioso aseo de algún lugar pecaminoso. No sólo el olor es retador, mención honrosa se lleva la botella... opaca, de plástico dorado, con burbujas que no deja ver cuanto contenido queda para dejar de sufrir el tormento.. Ungaro III OUD tiene un lugar especial en mi colección

This fragrance reminds me of Ted Lapidus black soul Imperial. It is very masculine. For this one, 99% of the ladies will want to skip out on. The black pepper and cardamom are well proportioned. The oud comes off leathery and oily in the beginning. In the middle, it gives off a nutmeg type of vibe. In the dry down, I get a trace of oakmoss. The cocoa comes and goes throughout its scent life. All and all, this is very nice manly fragrance for cold weather. The longevity is 6 hours plus with a nice projection and respectable sillage. I recommend 4 sprays. I am very satisfied. I remember a few years back when this was released. It seemed to have left quicker than it arrived. It’s a shame because for those who love mature, dark stuff....Ungaro III Oud was an ingenious concoction of dark chocolate meeting an ultra masculine ashy cigar. I just can’t imagine that there was a huge factory run on this. You can’t find it anywhere now, and if you’re lucky enough to spot one on eBay, you’d better snatch it up because lightning usually never strikes twice. Ignore the cheap packaging. What’s inside is really good considering budget house standards. 9/10

Ding dong....the post man just called.....bottle received and applied. Not that much to write home about. It is surely rose-free which is a blessing but it smells quite like a lot of designer brand ̈ouds ̈.....no true oud there to begin with. It is smokey/burnt with a touch of bitter chocolat. It has a lot of siblings like Davidoff Leather Blend, Mark Birley Charles Street, Fendi Homme Assolute, Aigner, Oud Alif (same nose)....im not disappointed as I kept me expectations low...:-) Cheers Matz

Phantastic.very masculine woody warm dark oud scent with soft sweet cacao and enough sharp black pepper, cardamon blend. Old school traditions in classic italian ungaro style. For me personaly close to Ferarri Leather Essence... super❣
