Just Oud

Noobish nose here, sniffed this over half a day and took notes before looking up the notes here (but knew the name, so). Opening (few minutes in): surprised, fruity? + a little candy sweet-spicy underneath? Surprisingly fresh/light top. Deep deep sniffs do get me another note "beneath" the gourmandish ones. Doesn't evoke "wood" for me particularly. But some classic heavier possibly a little masculine and oriental perfume note. 25 min in: I mean it's vanilla, and fruit. (I do have my weird paranoid vanilla struggle with almost everything. But it's really pretty strong in this.) But yeah, there's that other "deeper" non-sweet layer, spicy or "oriental/exotic/masculine". Could get suffocating fast in like a closed car. Drydown (5+ hours): sweet warm spicy skin scent - a bit like cinnamon rolls, but maybe woodier. -------------------------------------------- Still not getting saffron after reading notes. Sweet warm spices but more cinnamon or cardamom direction.

It's not only oud! It has vanilla, cedar, sandalwood, and over doses of sweet saffron. The colder and the calmer it goes the sweeter (not cloying) it become. It remind me allot of "oud vendome" by ex-nihilo but sweeter and less saffron, and "cuir garamante" but weaker, sweeter, and less saffron as well. "Just oud" is another variation of the above mentioned fragrances and it's a stand alone one, meaning, "cuir garamante" & "oud vendome" aren't substitutes, they're just variations of an European style oud fragrances. European oud: Sweet = "Just oud" SWEETER = "oud vendome" Leatherier and tougher = "cuir garamante"
