Ilang 62

I’m a 23-year-old male. I bought a discovery set from Emper, and this one was included. I had no idea what it would smell like. I only had a rough idea because of the name Ilang. When I first sprayed it and smelled it, it immediately reminded me of Fragrance Du Bois Cavort. Mind you, I had a tester of Cavort about five years ago and haven’t smelled it since, but it was the very first fragrance that came to mind. I don’t see anyone mentioning this comparison. From my perspective, I loved it. To me, it smells fresh, yummy, and rich—like a floral shampoo. But when I asked my sister to smell it, she didn’t like it. She said it was kind of sharp and not her taste. It was almost the same with my mom: she liked it, but her reaction wasn’t “wow.” Both of them also prefer more designer fragrances... the kind that are easier to like. At first spray, it smells very juicy with strong ylang-ylang. As it starts to dry down, it becomes stickier, but the ylang-ylang is still pushing upfront. It gets sweeter and more dusty, which I think is because of the patchouli. The woody notes are very soft, in my opinion. This review is written four days after I received it, so I can’t really talk about performance yet. Right now, it’s mid. But because it’s sticky, I’m pretty sure that after maceration it will become a beast. I only got the 30 ml bottle, but I’m 100% sure I’m going to buy the full bottle, because it’s already one of my favorites to spray after a shower or when I’m comfortably stoned in bed.

Pleasantly surprised. At first spray I couldn't understand what was happening so I wasn't sure if I like it. I revisit after couple months and i can smell the vetiver blended with the gardenia and the patchouli.. it's kinda masculine leaning and quiet heavy so I would recommend to wear this more in the cold seasons 😉

5.5/10 I received this as part of an Emper travel set and haven't worn Ilang and likely won't. Blasts off with the white florals and I can't help but associate the notes with a spray air freshener. I'm guessing it's the jasmine and gardenia. Anyway, bears a strong resemblance to Gulf Orchid Hikma which is equally not my jive. Update: Gave this a run on skin and it's much more pleasant. All of these Emper fragrances need extra sprays to register, but you're rewarded if you do.

Starts out very vintagy old fashion soapy, harsh. It mellows out a little bit the longer you wear it. I imagine high brow old professor or elderly teacher who would slap you with a ruler and goes to bed wearing her fav Chanel # 5... I think people who like orpheon by diptyque would enjoy this profile... I got discovery set and this is by far the most hard to wear out of 4. I put on this perfume to test run on skin and see how it lasts. While playing his game and not even looking at me my husband said: damn you stink.
