English Laundry Notting Hill

Another excellent fragrance by Christopher Wicks. This is a classy, somewhat sweet one. I, as usual, enjoy all English Laundry's offerings. This starts off with a very sweet citrus blast of lemon, lime and bergamot. The pepper quickly comes in to spice up the sweetness, the musk enters the fray and this is where it stays for quite some time. Safari by Ralph Lauren, as someone else stated, is very similar though this offers a slightly less green nature. I assume, though, the sandalwood and jasmine give it a slightly green floral tone. Very slight. I don't detect amber at all but I wish I could. Overall, not entirely unique but very nice. Longevity is excellent and for the first two hours you're getting a nice cloud. It's sillage stays consistently moderate throughout the day. Very good. It's not a screamer but it does a modestly good job. I'm going to say a classy sweet frag for men 25+. Well groomed, soft natured. I'd say pretty good for all seasons and most situations. A versatile one. I think for the retail asking price on an EDP, you could do a lot worse. Even better if you can find it at a discounter.

Notting Hill, Signature, and Arrogant are the best from the house, and the only ones worth buying IMO. Better than Creed Viking IMO, no rose, no cloves. It's a flash opening of citruses followed musky woods that has a throwback feeling, without smelling really really old school. Often in retro musky frags you get things that stick out like a sore thumb as "dated" and the number one thing for me and people I know is carnation followed closely in second place by heavy handed use of cloves. The spice they use here instead is pepper. I get all the things I like from a vintage spicy musk, with none of the things I don't. My bottle is older so I can't speak for modern batches or if this is still being made nowadays. Performance is better than any other English Laundry I've tried, vintage or modern. I get around 7 hours with average projection. ----------------------------------------------------- Overall a solid masculine fragrance if you like musk Scent 7.5/10 Performance 7/10

Understated cashmere & pale purple, wearing a cashmere sweater, a ramble upon the heath, words left unspoken, kindness, discovering the first crocuses of spring...these are some associations I get with this soft & wearable floral-woody-musk with spice & soft-purple. Opens with a burst of multi-faceted bergamot with citrus-aromatic shades, that deepens into a floral-musk heart of pepper & jasmine heart with fresh-spicy and soft-purple tones boosted by lavender (not listed), all resting on a musky cedar-sandalwood base. The result is a soft, wearable floral-woody-musk scent with a hint of spice, lavender & trace soap, that tilts masculine with the English Laundry men's DNA. Over time, the soft-purple tones of jasmine come out a little more in the air. This is something I've smelt before, but it's nicely done here, easy to wear unisex leaning masculine, and doesn't turn on the skin. Enjoy!

I'm a fan of the English Laundry clothing line and also the Oxford Bleu and Tahitian Waters fragrances, so this one was my next to try from all the positive reviews. This one starts off with that blast of fresh, clean citrus, but the subtle jasmine adds a nice touch to the start. It begins to dry down into a very warm sandalwood and the jasmine is still subtly there. The dry down is amazing! Just the right amount of woody cedar and sweet amber! I get a peppery, spicy note as this one goes on as well. The projection is great and the performance was about 8 hours on my skin! It being an EDP certainly helps too. I love the middle and I love fragrances that aren't so linear. This one definitely transitions like an orchestra of scent! Overall, I give this one a 8.5/10! Cheers!

Good citrus musky scent SOTD (Scent of the Day): English Laundry Notting Hill EDP: As of 01/31/19 Is a surprising scent, to my nose I detect the Bergamot, Musk, and pepper in the opening, and I pick up the lemon, lime and Sandalwood with the hint of floral that comes from the jasmine. Per several YouTube fragrance reviewers on dry down is similar to Creed Viking, and I don't own Viking to compare the two. At the moment is my favorite English Laundry fragrance for the price is a steal and a gem. TJ Maxx sells all 100ml English Laundry fragrances for $14.99 USD. Is a must have. Rating Scent: 8/10 Design/Presentation: 5/10 Value: 10/10 Longevity/Performance: 9/10: Lasted on my skin/skin scent around between 10-11+ hrs Overall: 7.5/10

This is a really nice gentleman's fragrance. When I smell this I immediately think of someone who is well dressed, well mannered, and well groomed. This is the fragrance for someone who is mature, and enjoys the finer things in life. This fragrance wears close on the skin, while still having a presence. This is a musky cologne without going too old school. Overall I would recommened this to someone in their late twenties, or anyone who is mature and well mannered.

Definitely a classy "night out" aromatic/semi-sweet cologne in my (rather amateur) opinion, something I would maybe expect as a niche version of Blue de Chanel. Sillage and longevity imo are both very good. I'll admit that I may be biased from a very positive basenotes review of this cologne though. Definitely my favorite English Laundry cologne thus far (over Arrogant and Signature, both of which I found as fairly nice fragrances but weak on longevity/sillage).

This is a really nice clean scent. It reminds me of obviously "clean fresh laundry". It gives me a pleasant feeling and also a feeling of well being. It reminds me of something "innocent". I think this is perfect for the spring, so I'm considering this one for the upcoming spring season. I would say more of a day fragrance, but could very well be worn at night. It's not offensive and very "safe". LOVE THE MUSK on this one.

The best $20 CAD I have spent fragrance-wise. THE most versatile, mass-appealing and dumbest grab scent I own. Its clean and fresh but not sharp. I would consider unisex (I wear it as a woman). Not surprising, there is a slight synthetic vibe, but its not a deal breaker for me as a niche junkie. Performance is less than stellar, but it's not the end of the world to reapply. Overall, I would highly recommend.

This is a high quality fragrance. It reminds me of a toned down version of Green Irish Tweed. Sillage is superior to the run-of-the-mill frags from Gucci, Prada and the like. It also lasts and remains consistant throughout the drydown. If you're over 30 and looking for a quality product, this is a good place to start, though I think the new "Bleu" is incredible as well. Good stuff, guys.

Picked up a 100ml bottle yesterday for $8! It’s a very manly sophisticated barber shop type cologne. Definitely a absolute steal for the price and I’m loving it more and more every time I smell it. It blows my mind how little love the house of English Laundry gets for how cheap they have become.

Notting Hill is a very sophisticated and manly musk/woody/floral fragrance. I think it is more woody/floral than musk though. The musk is there to balance out the fragrance BUT not strong, and I like that. I don't smell citrus here, maybe it's my sense of smell. Very good longevity and sillage.

A nice clean lime citrus. The lime is noticeably strong but not in an overpowering way. Washing with a nice strong smelling white bar of soap and then putting on a new white shirt - in the morning. A good and honest man wears this. Wished it lasted longer than 4 hours on me.

guys if you liked Creed's viking...i think you should get this one asap..its so close to Viking on dry down and great performance...i dont know if Viking copied them but damn they are so alike...im gonna buy a full bottle when i run out of my 20ml lil bottle.so good

Beautiful citrus sandalwood. Perfect for early fall when the leaves have just started to turn colors. For the price especially this is a no brainier. Only issue is performance but at this price who cares.

Love this! It does have that Safari vibe that others mention. It smells classy and masculine. Versatile with great longevity and good Sillage.

This is an updated review of English Laundry Notting Hill. English Laundry Notting Hill is a weird an interesting scent. It smells 90's old school but has some elements similar to Sauvage.The 90's scent side is Eternity for Men or a not as synthetic Curve for Men vibe. I cannot stand Aramis on my skin honestly, I sprayed it at a Sears and didn't like it at all. Curve I do like but it smells synthetic. As Notting Hill goes on, it smells somewhat like Sauvage Very Cool Spray, just with jasmine and no ambroxan. I don't personally smell anything similar to Invictus. If anything it is the jasmine, which is a common white floral in fragrances period. I wonder if this fragrance is confused with English Laundry Cambridge Knight. The main reason I havent gotten that is I have enough fragrances that smell like Invictus. Notting Hill has none of that. Notting Hill has several main notes, I think there are really prominent. These are bergamot, jasmine, pepper and sandalwood. The bergamot dominates the citric open and some Eternity for Men like lemon makes way, but this is with an under current of pepper spiciness from the mid and a slight woodyness from the base. The Jasmine is rather prominent in the mid along with the pepper. The base is very woody with the cedarwood and the dominant sandalwood along with a strong musk. I honestly don't notice the lime note at all. Performance is the weakest of the English Laundry house at about 5/6 hours. I'm not sure if it is an EDT or EDP but if.it is an EDP, it is a rather weak EDP. You maybe get an arm's length of sillage for an hour tops. Especially in the dry Arizona heat. Notting Hill usewise is weird. It might able to be used in a kick it situation, but it mostly is a work scent. Maybe it can be used during a summer daytime date too if you aren't afraid of smelling like an ex, brother or dad considering it is a common scent profile. This wouldn't work dressed up despite the English Laundry house doing a number of upscale smelling clones of popular fragrances. Notting Hill is not the best English Laundry fragrance I've smelt. Not even second or third, I put it about fifth out of the six I've tried (Windsor, Riviera, Signature, Oxford Bleu, this and Tahitian Waters.) It is a little bit all over the place on what it is and it just is alright to good. At least unlike Tahitian Waters, it don't smell totally foul on my skin. Notting Hill gets a 6.7 out if 10 for me. Not a strong like, but it I can't dislike it for the complexity of an old school smelling scent with some new school to it.

Very clean and fresh, it's reminiscent of a "cotton" or "clean laundry" air freshener.. but in the best way possible. I've never smelled SMW by Creed, but I have smelled a fake version and this reminds me of it. Don't ask. I get almost a beach vibe for some reason, like a sun tan lotion accord in there. It's pretty creamy (the sandalwood?) and is mass appealing so for a blind buy if you only have a few bottles at home, $14.99 for 3.4 is worth it imo. I like it a lot, but it's not mind blowing. Very safe and soft. Still masculine, but leaning unisex over a "manly" scent. It's kinda hard to describe, and it's a crowd pleaser, but I don't have anything else like it in my collection. It's well blended and there's really no standout notes except maybe the sandalwood, and then the bergamot at the opening. Super clean. Super fresh. But not aquatic fresh. more floral/clean without being too powerful. It has musky quality which makes it a little “heavier” than a freshie, but it makes it creamy and inviting. FYI I’m not a big musk fan. I'd say mid 20's and up, day to night, with ok projection and alright longevity. Great sprayer. I have Windsor which has grown on me, but is really only a reach in winter. Signature has something that throws me off. Not so much with NH. Great light spring/summer juice. Nothing really bad to say about it. Light? Yes. Soft? Yes. Generic? somewhat. Still I find myself reaching for it on occasion. Overall.. good juice.

Clean, fresh, inoffensive. Out of 50 or so fragrances in my collection, this one never fails to garner me unsolicited compliments (if that's what you're after). There's no doubt you've smelled this type of fragrance before. I've never smelled Safari, however this fragrance reminds me very much of Mont Blanc Legend - not exactly but similar - if you replaced the red apple and lavendar notes with musk and a creamy sandalwood. On my skin, this comes across as a more mature version of Mont Blanc Legend with fewer screechy synthetic notes. Maybe I got lucky with my batch because performance is average to above average - projection is fairly soft but with 3 sprays, but I can easily detect it on my skin the next day. Considering you can buy this fragrance for $20 or less, its kind of a no-brainer. If you're a fan of Mont Blanc Legend but you find it a little too juvenile for your tastes, then check this one out. Even if you dont like it, you didn't have to break the bank for a bottle.

This is some fancy stuff, when I first smelled this fragrance I felt I should have been wearing a my tom ford suit and sunglasses ready for the Kentucky derby. The first notes for my nose is citrus and bubblegum. Yep you read that right, bubblegum and it's a beautiful and unique combination. Once it settles down, the sandalwood, musk and pepper take over. You may not get much attention with this fragrance, but you will smell so fresh and so clean (clean). Even though it smells fancy, this scent is very versatile and good for any occasion except for the club. I blind bought this for $13 at TJMaxx and I do not regret it one bit. If you find this fragrance cheaper than $25 it is absolutely worth the buy especially if you like sandalwood scents. I prefer more attention grabbing colognes, but either way this scent is a solid 7/10.

Hello, this is my first English laundry fragrance and while initially impressed, upon my second wear I'm less excited. Open is citrus and woods and it stays like that with a little l jasmine to soften it up. The longevity is great lasting on skin 6 hrs and clothes till they're washed. Projection is decent for first hour and then settles down quite a bit. This fragrance is nothing unique, I don't get similarities to safari on my skin, rather super strong resemblance to the opening of legend and legend intense by mont blanc, as well as skulls and roses by ed hardy. While less synthetic than all of these, it lacks the character of the legends. I think it's 3rd place in that group for me. Less woodsy than a&f fierce but also reminds me of it too. Enjoyable, good for daily wear, clean.

Shame on me for turning my nose up to English Laundry fragrances for the past numbers of years. My children picked me up a few for Christmas presents and I’m pleasantly surprised how good they are for the price. This one, opens citrusy, drying down to a slightly spicy musky DNA. The dry down does remind me a bit of A&F Fierce. Longevity and projection are average. I get maybe 5 hours of longevity. You could wear this year round...but best for warmer days. Value is off the charts when you can find this for under $20 at Marshall’s. Overall, this house’s fragrances are really good and easy purchases for the price point. Do I have many fragrances that are better...sure, but they also cost a lot more than this.

My first English Laundry fragrance was Riviera. I got it for $15 at TJmax and love it. So I bought a sample pack from there a couple weeks later. It has four 20ml samples. Nottinghill is my least favorite of the four I own. I would rank them: Riviera, Oxford Bleu, Arogant, Nottinghill. I’m still waiting to find Windsor and Cambridge Knight. Nottinghill is not awful, but not great. The pepper note makes it less appealing to me. I like the note of pepper in Terre D’Hermes and Dunhill Icon, but not so much in this one. The longevity and projection and below average. I won’t rebuy once this is gone. Scent: 6 Longevity: 6.5 Projection: 6.5 Value: 6 Overall: 6

It is a nice scent, Fresh, Clean, Citrusy and Musky. Some people compare it with Creed Viking and Safari, I must tell you honestly that Notting Hill was launched in 2013 before Creed Viking and I haven't tried Viking yet. It reminds me a bit of Safari but Safari has better quality composition. Overall, Notting Hill smells very pleasant with reasonable price. It opens up with like creamy fresh spicy, citrusy,floral and green notes in the background then dry down is musky woody. Based on English Laundry Site : there are Cassis and Green notes in this perfume. This is perfect for the spring, summer and fall, Longevity is average. Rating : 7.5 / 10

Youthful smelling scent that bursts with citrus, and then cuts down to give a summer/springtime vibe. White shirt, casual setting, and certainly a daytime scent. This fragrance is too young for me, though this would be ideal for the 15 - 25 crowd. The base gives off another earthly layer, while not being too sophisticated. Also, perfect for a young man's budget to smell nice, avoid Axe/Bod, or dad's old storage crap; Hmmm green polo that hasn't been used since '85, why not give it a go? Worth grabbing if you're looking for a young scent, or if you snag this one in the 4 pack sampler for $20. Cheap enough for a blind buy.

Very very musky. Very clean and fresh. The price if you get at marshalls (USA) is very low. Its not my favorite but i still got a 100ml when i saw it. It does not last long but its about 5 hours with about 2 hours projection and that 1 hour being pretty strong. I think its a great smell and for 12.99 that i got it i would recommend it to anyone. I would not buy any English laundry online for $60 plus tho. Only get this if you find it for real cheap not because they are bad but because for that money you can get something better. I have never seen anything better for 15 dollars then English laundry though.

Very inoffensive and safe fragrance. It is clean... soapy... fresh with some spiciness. Spray away and will never offend or project much. It sits close but it is delightful. This was one of my late father's favorites and for that I will have it in my collection just for that sake. The entire house makes great fragrances, but they are gone like a fart in the wind. Beautifully crafted and smelling... Just no performance or lasting power at all. This is a "Like" because of projection and performance. Amazing price value for a great scent.

Fresh and spicy with a bit of soapiness.Versatile but severely lacking in the performance department. Altough I really enjoy this scent, I can't help but laugh and generally agree with the reviewer who called this "Nothing Hill." I'm not kidding when I say that I can put on 15+ sprays of this before going out and not worry about offending anyone. It becomes a skin scent very quickly. It does last a decent amount of time on clothing but is quite faint. I would rate this a "love" if it projected at all, but alas...

Ahhhhhh, this smells soo good. From about 2 inches away you get a spicy berry,very sexy and masculant.Up close, a lot of pepper but in a good way. One of my favorites from the set I got with it.If you like very peppery fragrances I recommend this,smells like a dark and sexy berry cologne with pepper mixed in.If not than you might like English laundrys other offerings. I love it. For note, try not to overspray with this one Good projection Decent longetivity For the scent: 90/100 For knotting hill overall: 85/100

Tried this twice through Birch Box. I love the opening--beautifully citrusy. However, the mild wood notes are impatient and show up after only about twenty seconds, combined with a slight alcohol presence. I got a sensation of drinking a glass of champagne with crunchy twigs in it. I'm not a big fan of the musk, but later it did get a bit clean and soapy which was nice. This largely felt polite, not loud or aggressive, and pleasant. I prefer Invictus, which I found similar, but I'd wear this again.

Smells like a lot of different things, but most like Safari by Ralph Lauren. I don't know if this was intentional but given English Laundry's name and general approach to fragrances, I wouldn't rule it out. Performance is below average on my skin, especially for what's supposed to be an EDP. As with other offerings by this house, Notting Hill is inoffensive, "nice" and office-friendly - and totally worth a buy as long as you can find it for half its retail price or less.

To me this smells just like Aramis the original one but a little less harsh. This is a strong old school rugged scent but it's pretty tame. A nice metallic smelling working man cologne. This makes me think of trucks, guns and steel! This is a good one to try if you like more manly scents! I give this a 8.6/10 This is like Aramis just a little more polished. It's slightly sweeter up top but not by much. This is smooth but pretty rugged to! I like it!

This fragrance strikes me as the bigger and better curve for men. Of course, nothing will compare to it's nostalgia factor but as both of them are arguably green fragrances they're similar. Notting Hill smells very fresh spicy and aromatic, with fruits I only find in the opening. It's like a less complex version of Curve for men and feels like a walk in a wet forest in the summer time. You won't impress, but you'll be sure to smell good!

I selected the like option, instead of the dislike or love choices...because it's not gross, but it's not good...it's mild and very feminine. Kinda reminded me of Lacoste's 'Style in Play'...gawking on here says they both share cedar, jasmine and musk, so maybe that's why...because it was opened already in Marshall's, I almost thought it was the women's I sprayed until I saw it was in fact the correct "male" one, lol

Smells nice - I would say this is like a lighter version of Ralph Lauren’s Safari for men with a little more citrus at the top. Perhaps, this fragrance is a little too much for summer, especially for terribly hot and humid summer in Japan, where I’m located. But, it would be a good one for spring and fall.

I've never tried Safari by Ralph Lauren, but this definitely *feels* like something that Ralph Lauren could have called 'Safari' back in 1992. Our own MrAramis has called Aramis: "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly" in a bottle. This is "The Ghost and the Darkness" in a bottle.

As a female, I wear a lot of male fragrances in the summertime. Nottinghill is a fresh, clean, citrus perfume which is nice and crowd pleasing. It is generic and pleasant. An everyday "throw on and go" citrus summer type. No real character but an easy dumb reach.

Pretty decent clone of Ralph Lauren Safari. Performance is pretty similar so if the price difference is $10 or less, just get the Safari for the quality and presentation.

To me this kinda smells like invictus without the bubble gum.

I usually only write a review if I really like something. I feel compelled to write this one because a certain YouTuber I follow used to rave about this fragrance, so I had it on my “Get if found cheap” list. I found it at Marshall’s tonight for $12.99, so I grabbed it. Put it on, and it was only slightly more fragrant than water. I don’t think I’ve ever smelled something so faint. The generic hand soap at work is stronger. The beard oil I use is definitely stronger. I have a few cheapies in my medicine cabinet that I’ll use if I’m going to the gym or just running an errand but haven’t showered yet — things like CK Eternity Acqua and Air, Cremo, etc. This is weaker than all of them. It might be a bedtime scent for me. It’s not an unpleasant scent. I do pick up pepper, and slight amber and musk. But if I paid any more for it than I had, I’d be upset.

So I picked this up at a TJ maxx for $20. I think it was mis-priced though because it was $20 for a full 100ml, a 50ml, and a bottle of body wash. I feel like that would go for at least $40. So anyway I couldn’t resist the urge. The scent is okay, it’s super boring to me and there are plenty of scents with a similar profile that can get me excited. But this really does nothing for me. The bergamot and musk are kinda nice but too synthetic, and I don’t get much sandalwood in the mid to dry down on my skin which is a shame because I love sandalwood, and it is a really detectable scent for me. I don’t regret the purchase, but I don’t visit this all that much and I won’t be rebuying

If you're looking for a fragrance to *WOW* you, this one won't be it. It's a pretty good amalgamation of a few fragrances. The first one that comes to mind is Curve Pour Homme, minus about 2/3 of the notes. This leads it to be a safer choice, if less exciting. The sandalwood comes off Pasha-esque. The musk relates it to Fierce. It all comes together in a safe, yet unexciting way. It's a good dumb reach personally, but it's not something I'd compliment if I smelled it on someone else. 5/10

Meh. Generic daytime scent for warmer weather. Not going to attract anyone's attention for better or worse. Better than nothing but not better than most. I wouldn't buy it again but it was so cheap I can't hate on it.

A decent citrucy/green scent when compared to genetic soap bars, but too uninteresting and dull to compete with designer fragrances. Perfect for an old man who wants to go out to the local shopping center to have a coffee and a game of cards with his buddies at 7am on a weekday. It's inoffensive, smells nice, but won't make you stand out in any way and I definitely wouldn't expect any compliments wearing this. I don't really have a use for this. Maybe I'll use it as an after shower fragrance before bedtime, but more likely it'll join my Dior Sauvage in rotation for when working on my car. Oh also, the bottle is terrible; it's like a bad chanel knockoff. There's a gap between the nozzle and the topside of the bottle, because the later is rounded. Even worse, the bottom of the bottle is rounded in the same manner and is therefore unstable and wobbles around quite a bit. Feels cheap.

You guessed it - another drugstore cheapie I picked up. Musk. I don't need to say anything else. Very barbershoppy. Its just not for me - its a dated smell from the late 80s. VERY european old man that likes to walk around the mall with their hands behind their back along with his old man friends and eventually sitting down with a napkin in their hands wiping their mouth - JUST like my father :) Its not for me. I'm here to use colognes as tools to seduce. I would pass on this one unless you're wearing checkered dress pants, a newsboy cap and holding a cane. 2/10 for a drugstore cheapie. I have no clue where anyone got 'fresh' and 'berries' from in this cologne. Edit: I forgot to mention there is something shaking around in the cap..It sounds solid. I almost want to break it open to see what it is. Very odd.

After the nice citruses leave in 20 minutes or so, the dry down is straight up salt and pepper. Must be a Salty amber in combo with the pepper and woods. It smells like steak seasoning in the dry down and I really don't like this one. So if you think salty pepper wood is your thing, you might like it. I kinda think this is aweful stuff. Super masculine if you like smelling like meat.

@javimascara @Benrobles_2 It also happened to me. At the time, I had Cambridge Knight and Notting Hill. Compared them side-by-side. They smelled identical.
