English Laundry Signature for him

Clean... Fresh... This fragrance is for Gentlemen... I am fast becoming a fan of the English Laundry fragrances. I have all but Notting Hill. I had purchased Signature a few days ago and tried it for the first time today. Wow, I am pleasantly surprised. This fragrance is easy on the nose and is a "safe" fragrance for those of us who work in an office environment looking not to offend those with a more sensitive nose. Out of the bottle, Signature is a blast of clean citrus that settles somewhat to skin level with musk and woodsy notes. It is classy type of fragrance that is meant for Gentlemen - with tailored suit and tie - but offers that flexibility that, to repeat, Gentlemen can wear with those comfortable jeans and a designer shirt. Further, it is the kind of fragrance that can be worn any time of year, either day or night, and any occasion. The only requirement - it is for Gentlemen... I fully expect the English Laundry fragrances to increase in popularity - the "older brother", Arrogant, is taking off and the unheard of sibling, "Tahitian Waters" ranks in my Top 5. Longevity and Projection/Sillage are moderate, but given that Signature is a Eau de Parfum, perhaps exceeding moderate level. While no compliments today from the opposite sex (a.k.a. "Wow Factor"), I have complete confidence that it is only a matter of time. Trust me - you will be noticed. In addition to the beauty of the scent, you will also admire and appreciate the classic design of the bottle and packaging. Two words - First Class..!! For those of us who want a great fragrance, but want it fairly inexpensive ('cheap' is a 'bad word' and will not be used in any of my reviews..), the only downside of the English Laundry fragrances is that these are on the upper end of that price range for me. Yeah, I have the money to spend on a great fragrance - I am trying to save $$$ to get that convertible... You know the deal - looking good and smelling good... My final rating for English Laundry Signature is 4.5 stars out of 5. This rating comes with a solid recommendation to add to your collection. The Daily I.M. - "It is OK that you get lost sometimes - as long as you can always find your true self... Be happy who you are..."

This scent was an instant love for me and after all this time of collecting frags it takes a lot to wow me. To get this out of the way, no this doesn’t smell like Le Male but instead it smells similar to the scents that smell similar to Le Male( Cuba Gold,Fujiyama Gentlemen, and 212 Sexy Men) Even though Signature is similar to all those in my opinion this is easily the superior scent out of the bunch. On its own, this scent has 3 stages. It opens up very bright,sparkling light,fresh and airy but then once it dries down in the mid this starts to get really nice and smooth when the citrus fades and the lavender and cedar make this more masculine, and smooth. Then once this dries down it goes from being airy and smooth to creamy and smooth when your left with a beautiful blend of lavender,cedar and amber. This scent is divine and is very sexy,elegant,appealing,and professional smelling ! Sidenote— first day I wore this I got 3 compliments and the last compliment was 7 hours after application. Performance- this projects well(Not beastly) for 1 hr and a half hours and then lasts 8-12 hours. Overall rating-8.5 out of 10 ! Very sexy scent that’s also elegant and has great performance,gets compliments and at a very good price as well 1 thing I love about English Laundry is yes they clone scents but they always do a better job at the original scent and don’t just do a cheap smelling imitation.

I remember smelling a bit of Versace The Dreamer directly from the atomizer for the first time and thinking it smelled awesome. I then proceeded to spray it on my arm. That opening was not so pleasant to me, unfortunately. The tobacco was just a bit too harsh and sweet. I ended up buying myself a bottle, though, because I loved that far dry down so much. Fast forward to when I first smelled this and I instantly fell in love (opening and all). While it’s not an exact dupe of The Dreamer, it still sort of encapsulates the best aspects of it into its own scent. I’m also sure that Signature takes inspiration from other scents, too (definitely at least a little bit from Le Male), but I like to think of it as what I always was wanting from The Dreamer all along. As for the scent itself, it’s very lavender and sandalwood heavy. I can see why people have compared it to soap or detergent, but I think that that’s a little reductive. It’s still very appealing and accessible and isn’t really tied down that much by its older fashioned sensibility. I also get fairly decent longevity, although I probably overspray it by one or two sprays. I was probably still smelling it after about 6 hours, but it was pretty close to the skin at that point. All around love for me. Can’t get enough of it, honestly.

Clean Lather of Soapy Sandalwood, Lavender & Nutmeg with White-Musk... The first thing that struck me about this scent was the gorgeous woods that have a faint hint of sweetness. This isn't an exact clone of anything, but there's a lot of similarities to Le Male Jean Paul Gaultier, and this likely qualifies as a dupe. In the first couple of minutes I can feel the woody aromatics from lavender & cedar with a hint of citrus, and already a musk that leans to white-musk is swelling through. As the sillage starts to open up there is wonderful spicy diffusion of nutmeg & coriander. Nutmeg is more forward here than the notes would suggest, and its delicate spiciness is projected by the musk. As it starts to dry down I get a creamy sandalwood that's worked into a soapy lather by the nutmeg & lavender. The overall result is a soft & wearable white-musk & creamy sandalwood scent, accented by lavender & nutmeg. I've loved this scent from the first spray. This has average or slightly above average performance but the softer scent profile might feel weak to some. Anyone could wear this. It's a love for me. Enjoy!

This stuff is kick-arse! Without a doubt my new favourite. I have never smelt anything quite like EL Signature or Arrogant before. Signature is just an amplified version of Arrogant. They remind me of my classrooms as a little boy...that musty smell of the classroom, books, the library, old furniture, even of the teachers. These fragrances scream conservative traditional values, decency, smartness, education and respectability. I liken their character to dark blue Italian pin stripe suits, a beautiful English manor estate, posh crocodile skin luggage, a Rolls Royce or Jaguar parked in the gravel drive and a bottle of fine champagne waiting in an ice bucket sat on a round cast-iron outdoor table on the terrace. Or maybe the silence and atmosphere of the inside of a dark, cool, secluded, centuries-old church, library or cathedral. Signature is quintessentially English.

Picked it up for 12 dollars at TjMaxx, sprayed it on my hand really loved it and came back to buy it a little after that. In my personal experience this is a dude magnet. All of my friends complimented it on me and were asking me to give it to them, I peronally loved it too. My mom (she's the only woman who smelled it on me as what she said traumatized me into not wearing it) literally said it's so f-cking bad I have to go take a shower asap or disappear from the house. I don't know if it's only her, but I am literally scared to put it on myself. Even though this is weirdly one of my most complimented fragrances, even though it's always men who compliment it which is cool but not what I am looking for.

I absolutely love this fragrance.This is the one that got me into fragrances and it is one of my favorites.Basically my signature scent.As of this post I dont have many bottles of fragrance but this one is the best. I have other english laundry fragrances and I love them too, plan too get as many of them as I can. Back to signature, its manly,seductive,sexy,gourmand,and something a man would wear who gets things done and will attract people while doing it. I will love this as long as I'm alive and it will always be in my collection.This is a definent buy if you see it around at discounters. projection is decent longetivity is good In terms of the scent, 92/100 Signature as a whole, 84/100

Its one of my favorites. Its not a bomb but it lasts for about 5 hours and projects for up to 2. I got it for 12.99 at marshals and the smell is so good. I do not however see the similarities to le male or cuba gold at all. I think its 100% a safe blind buy. It does not last long like how some of us like but the scent is great. This is not one of those since the price is cheap this is worth it, no this is worth it because it smells great and the fact that you can find it cheap is just the benefit of it. Once this corona thing is over if i see more at marshals i'm buying a back up bottle.

Just picked this up at Nordstrom's in Chicago. It's a very clean (English Laundry? of course it's clean!), spicy, woody, and overall classic but unique Oriental fragrance. I'd say it's a safe scent, but in a good way... nothing offensive about it, not huge with projection but definitely respectable (this is a good thing in my opinion...choking out an entire room with a scent is never appreciated), great longevity, and nothing of what some might call "common" or "synthetic" either. Definitely a memorable scent that is as good for every day as a night out. Absolutely love it.

S-tier fragrance. This is clean like freshly laundered clothes, but also sensual and rugged. This is the quintessential every man fragrance. Inoffensive but alluring. The unsung hero here is the vetiver. Which you can only really appreciate by over applying. Something I encourage. Ubiquitous but under appreciated this one. *Note-I believe this has been reformulated recently. Newer batches seem to have way too much citrus in them. Makes it smell like bathroom cleaner. Look for bottles with only 4 or 5 ingredients listed. Unnecessary, unfortunate and disappointing.

Everyone says this about everything, but this really is the best cheap soapy scent available. In fact, the smell punches into Prada territory Comparisons to Le Male? Maybe 10%. More like Versace the Dreamer.The base of this smells like high end luxury soap. Performance is atrocious and you will need to spray 10 to 20 times for any projection. Your bottle will go fast, but this frag is great. I wish they would make an extrait version because this is not an EDP that's for sure. It perfoms like an aftershave. Scent 9.7/10 Performance 1/10

this fragrance was one of the first I ever purchased and I still love it after growing my collection. I love the sweet lavender barbershop smell of it that sticks throughout. it's longevity is great I get 7-8 hours and I don't need to bathe in it either. it's my signature scent and a very easy dumb reach although I think it smells quite unique and it's definitely the best English laundry scent out there. if you can find it at tjmaxx or another discounter for 25$ or less absolutely get it!

I got this for my husband a few years ago, and I definitely think it is a lavender-musk bomb. There's some sandalwood and a hint of citrus, but the freshness and slight astringency of the musk-lavender combo are the main things I smell on him. It's got monster sillage, so this one is not for the faint of heart in my opinion. It smells nice, clean, fresh, but a step up from Axe body spray or something. The bottle is very luxurious given the price, and all you'd need is one or two sprays.

Really enjoy Signature. As others have stated this is very much a gentlemanly, borderline barbershop scent. It is inoffensive enough for work, but sufficiently interesting to wear out. Don't expect groundbreaking, but it is nice and unique enough to merit addition to most people's wardrobe. good longevity...a couple of squirts should last you the day. The English Laundry line as a whole is beginning to impress with their offerings.

Wow, I’m amazed at the different reviews for me this has descent sillage and logivity has a real nice barber smell, non offensive and pretty much fits all occasions I cann see younger guys who love the newer sweet syrup like fragrances like 1 Million or Invictus might not like this bot for the mature man with a great attitude and a wallet full of money and a beautiful wife on his arm, this is a home run.

I love this stuff. Such a great signature scent! The lavender is beautiful smelling! Reminds me of Cuba gold which I also love but it’s more mature and well rounded. I got one of the originals before the reformation. Lasts about 7-8 hours. Silage is minimal but it’s an everyday office/around the house scent. I also got the body wash with mine. I love this profile. Simple but done right.

Ever since I started wearing cologne, which honestly wasn’t that long ago, I’ve been trying to find a lavender fragrance I really love without much success. I finally found it with English Laundry Signature for Him. It’s a very clean smell, almost soapy. I suppose it even smells of laundry. I get a decent amount of compliments when wearing this but I wear it mostly for my own pleasure.

This is a great value. I prefer Arrogant which despite its name seems like a more subdued version of this. Soapy, Smokey, One toe in the water of the Barbershop pool. I wouldn't exactly put it in the barbershop scent class but I wouldn't correct anybody from calling it that either. A great scent that I'd put in the $25ish bracket. Pretty safe blind buy but probably not for everyone.

Very clean, not a lot of people know of EL brand; which makes it better when asked what I'm wearing, this one smells different from the other English Laundry except for arrogant which is close with more citrus. It does project but people do not smell you coming down the hall. Similar to the Prada line of fragrances. Clean, lavender, fresh and a light citrus smell

What a surprise. I bought this to add to my collection and it only cost me 20 dollars for the 100ml bottle. Thinking this would be a mediocre buy I wasn't expecting much until I actually sprayed some when I arrived home. What a scent... It nearly took my breath away. Out of all my collection this would easily rank in my top three. A budget masterpiece.

I bought this for 12 dollars at a discounter so I cant really go wrong. It smells to me like lavender and sandalwood soap. Relatively harmless and its not horrible. Gave myself about a million sprays and it has no sillage. This is a pleasant safe conservative scent. Gives you a fresh out of the shower feel, but there is nothing spectacular here.

Got this in 2019 and I don't know if this has been diluted but it's lasts a very long time. Projection is way above average but not sickening or over powered. The lavender and cedar combo is just too smooth and manly. Just those two ingredients in here make it the smoothest leathery note ever. So glad I paid $14.99 at Marshalls 2019

Really enjoyed this one while I was out today. Very pleasant and clean woody fragrance. I am really enjoying a lot of what English Laundry is putting out there. I would like really to be able to test this more to get the full effect instead of just on paper, but from what I can tell this will be going on my want list 9/10

Soapy, clean, fresh lavender. It really is a great scent, can definitely dress it up or wear it casually. Truthfully I wear it out of the shower at night, as I find it incredibly relaxing. Really wish it lasted a bit longer and had more projection. Still, for $12.99 at the rack stores, it's a steal.

Good one for traveling-safe, non-offensive, versatile. It's quite nice and pleasant. I agree with the comment below mine, he said it well.. This is something i'd like to keep in my collection. Layering this with Kiehl's Original Musk produces an intoxicating, clean aroma. Highly recommended. ;)

All of these English laundry scents are clones but they all have their own little thing that differentiates them from the Jews they are trying to imitate. In my opinion some of them are better than the originals. For the price you absolutely can’t go wrong with any of these.

Beautiful, soft, smooth lavender perfume. As a woman, I can easily wear this all year long. The lavender is not very loud and this fragrance is fresh and smooth. Not a huge projector but lasts about 6 hours. Perfect in summer. Much smoother than Jicky.

Not sexy, alluring or anything like that. It's just a nice, pleasing scent. To me, bananas and pencil shavings are the prominent characteristics. One of my favourites. Smells nothing like Versace the Dreamer. Signature actually smells good.

Edit: I already left a review but I will add this. For some reason my wife loves this on me! I can barely smell it but she says I smell incredible. I usually wear scents for myself but I guess I am going to keep wearing this one.

I found my longer lasting Musk from the body shop. To think I had this scent here all along. Great clean musky scent than leans soapier with that lavender. Lasts longer than Musk from Body Shop and the resemblance is strong.

On the day I tried it and got to the drydown, I was reminded of Versace The Dreamer. Checked on here to see if others agreed, and sure enough I they do. This does come across more citrus. I like it, cheap and yummy.

It's a more smooth, refined version of le male!! Love it!!! English laundry is my new favorite budget friendly house!! I love chasing down these beauties at my TV max, Burlington factory!! Happy hunting yall!!!

I got this at TJmaxx for my husband for $15! This pleasant, clean, slightly soapy, and kind of sweet. I find it very addicting to smell and find myself wanting to wear it! If you see this, GET IT.

Everything Prada Lhomme should be but isn't at a much better price and performance. Fresh clean linen scent is what I get all day long. Mass people pleaser. Highly recommend.

It smells amazing, I’ve received tons of compliments when wearing it. I gave it a try without knowing about the brand and now I love it. It has a great price for being an EDP

I get a citrus/cedar blast on the initial spray, but the dry-down is Le Male with a slight cedar note. This is an excellent fragrance at an excellent price.

Signature is so smooooth. Take le male dna without the smokiness and make it creamier. This scent is perfection. Masculine without it being too loud.

Smells like fresh clean linen w great performance. One of my favorites out of my entire collection. Very easy to go anosmic aka nose blind

Fell in love with this smell instantly. I found at my local Marshall’s and for the price it’s a steal. Great lavender scent, really clean.

Edit 03/06/21 @ 9:56 a.m. Alright here's my review. This can be very useful for someone starting a collection. Cheap, versatile, and potentially compliment pulling. I bought my bottle from Tj Maxx for $12.99. Personally I didn't find a cap, and it was down 1 or 2 ml, but I didn't mind. This wasn't a tester; I've never seen testers at discount rack stores before. The top is very sharp with citruses, mostly lemon. It's very bright and uplifting with the citruses, yet the lavender and cedar ground this scent. In the heart nutmeg is pronounced, overpowering the top; the lavender pokes out every now and then. The nutmeg here is similar to the nutmeg I find in Azzaro Pour Homme Night Time (at least on my skin). I don't find the two as identical scents, but they share that subtle, powdery/spicy nutmeg that adds a warming quality to the fragrance in the heart. The base on this gets quite musky on my skin (clean musk) with a light touch of amber; it's creamy, so my assumption is that the sandalwood blends in the dry down. Signature for Him lasts 12+ hours on my skin, projecting for a good 2 hours about arm's length. This could be easily dressed up and dressed down, worn all year, any weather, and for any occasion. It does lean slightly more masculine, but a woman could easily pull this off. It does have a classy feel to it, would be a great office scent. Anyone could wear this, but it's suited more towards people 25+ due to the soapy, sharp nature in the top, which gives it a slight mature feel. Part of my original thought 02/27/21@ 6:59 p.m. I've never smelled Le Male, but I can't imagine that Le Male smelled this fresh or soapy. This doesn't smell clubby to me, but I've never been in a club so how would I know. Plus this was the first fragrance that my mom immediately complimented me on. She said something like "who smells good? It smells like soap." She's usually indifferent with my fragrances, this was the 1st one she gave me an unsolicited compliment for.

English Laundry Signature for Him is a really nice Le Male substitute. Well before the recent Puig formulation (I haven't smelt it but I'm going by accounts.) To me, it (Signiture) is a less synthetic and expanded upon eau de parfum version of Cuba Gold. That said, I cannot comment how close the English Laundry Signature for Him EDP is to their previous EDT Arrogant, because I haven't smelt Arrogant and it is seemingly off the market. Signature for Him is a bit of a weird scent but I do like it. The lavender note is very different as to me, it feels dry and not as clean as it normally would be (possibly due to the wood in the open and the spice from the mid) but it smells awesome. It is pretty unique. I find there is also some citrus in the open I can't tell if it is more lemon or bergamot. The mid is spicy with coriander and some nutmeg and I think part of the reason the lavender is dry. The base is mostly vetiver and musk to me wiih some sandalwood. The amber is the only note that is undectable. Signature for Him lasts about 10 hours on me with about two to three hours of moderate projection and you will get wiffs well into the six, seven, eight hour mark off the wind. I see that is above average but I noticed that it will last at least 8 hours on my skin. I find Signature for Him works best in work settings and upscale settings, perhaps dates, more so than Cuba Gold. This is a day or night scent in fall and spring. If you want a casual scent, use Cuba Gold. If you are looking for a club banger, look for the Puig Le Male. I rate English Laundry 7.8 out of 10. It is so close to being a love, but the usability and the price can be a problem if you don't find it at say Ross for $25 or less, like I did. As I've said earlier, Cuba Gold is good but this far better, even if it is less usable season wise and situation-ally. It is really nice but honestly overpriced.

Signature is definitely not identical to Arrogant as some are suggesting. They are better described as flankers to one another. The musk and nutmeg make this distinct. There is definitely a spiciness present. There are also stronger woody notes in Signature as well. As they dry down they become more similar. These two are different enough to own both and not be redundant IMO. I enjoy wearing Arrogant as a casual scent in the warm weather. Arrogant is undeniable similar to Le Male, but less bubble gummy. Signature is less casual and more of an office scent, but could be worn casually. It is less similar to Le Male. This works best in the spring and especially in the fall. But if you are indoors you could pull it off anytime of year. The projection is lacking, but the longevity is decent. I’d go a little heavier in the trigger with this one. The scent itself is nice, but likely not going to cause people to stop you in the street to ask what you are wearing. Well worth the $20 I paid (100 mL, 20 mL, and body/hair wash). Grab up any English Laundry for that price if you see it. You really can’t go wrong. Scent: 7/10 Longevity: 7/10 Projection: 5/10 Versatility: 8/10 Value: 9/10 Overall: 7.5/10

This is a nice, fresh, clean, barbershop scent that starts off kind of citrusy and bright, then mellows to more woody notes. It's a bit powdery and smells of freshly washed laundry that was dried with dryer sheets. It's not going to get you a lot of compliments, but people who smell it on you are going to think you smell clean. This is a great value at $12.99 at TJ-Max or Marshalls and a good fragrance to keep in rotation with other every day fragrances to keep things from getting boring. You're not likely to "love" this fragrance, but you're also not likely to get tired of using it, either. If you see it, pick it up. You won't be sorry. Nice bottle. It will look good sitting on display with your other fragrances. And, it would make a nice gift for a coworker - not too intimate of a fragrance - or, a young man in high school or college. Nice warm weather fragrance.

I wouldn't describe this one as soapy, but it does have a clean linen smell like freshly washed shirts. I guess in America they call washing detergent soap, so maybe that why some prople refer to soap.. interesting. To my nose, Signature is pretty one dimensional. There is no evolution throughout the life of the scent, this one is linear, but one thing i will give it is that it's very long lasting. Some people compare this to JPG Le Male and Versace Dreamer, but that association only works if you strip away the key components that make those ones so special. For Le Male, it's the Mint and Vanilla, for Versace Dreamer it's the Tobacco. All things considered i would give this 6.5/10

my husband says it smells like his body wash that he uses at the gym and i have to agree. it definitely starts out lime and lavender on him. then after a time it stops being body wash and the sandalwood starts to come through making it more creamy and smooth. my husband likes it and would buy it. i think its more for a guy who wears collared shirts and khakis, but casual. an older man in his 40s. its nice and sophisticated but not for my husband in my opinion. a boarding school reunion weekend fragrance. definitely safe for business professional and business casual. though i would say that to me its a certain type of man. quiet, strong, sophisticated, clean cut, and polite.

I purchased a tester of this after falling in love with the scent of their hair wax; hoping it would be the same. We were in luck! It opened much muskier/woodier and masculine than the wax, but dried down into the very slight skin-musk/fresh laundry/powdery scent I was hoping for. This makes it very flexible in terms of wear, but it’s certainly not a scent for everyone. To me it’s clean and comfortable, but to others it may be too soapy/laundry-like. I have a hard time pulling specific notes from it, as it’s more of an experiential - walking into a traditional barbershop with a laundromat in the back; everything spick and span.

not bad. smells like a 'masculine' clean laundry scent with a hint of citrus. the lemon and bergamot goes nicely with the lavender, and i would say those three are the most prominent notes. longevity is okay, probably lasts a couple of hours at best, but it's cheap for a full bottle and the scent itself is fairly decent. nothing extremely ground-breaking or special, but it's decent and it's not a bad choice for a cheap clean-smelling cologne. non-offensive and doesn't smell too strong. solid for a post-shower fragrance or a quick outing for a cheap price.
