Oxford Bleu

First off, let me start this review with a preface. Fashion & fragrance have been entwined since the beginning of the 20th century. Lest we forget, COCO CHANEL was, first and foremost, a fashion designer and her fragrances were meant as olfactory accessories to accompany her sartorial elegance. Myrurgia (Spain) was the first fashion House (according to their designer page here in the database) to create fragrances: think Maderas de Orient ('20s),Joya ('50s) and Maja ('80s). WEIL manufactured perfumes meant to cover the odor of real furs, making them pleasingly fragrant as opposed to primal or fetid. Not much has changed, nearly a hundred years later, yet people continue to "dis" fashion houses who release perfumes. And, it's true to an extent: many are mass produced "off the rack" releases meant to make money but many live up to the legacy of legendary iconic brands; despite IFRA meddling and the bean-counters constantly pointing to the bottom line. Some companies, just like many fashion designers, throw the budget to the wind creating posh and over-the-top designs that, while flamboyant and interesting on the runway, would never be worn by someone of the rank & file...let alone be afforded. Others take simple designs emblazoned with pop culture symbolism and add a three-digit price tag. Why? Because a) they can & b) someone will pay it just to say "Oh this? It's an original _____!" Somewhere, isn't there a happy medium? A just right scented "Goldilocks zone" where fashion and fragrance balance each other? Where the accessory costs significantly LESS THAN the fashion itself, while still radiating the same panache and class? I thought those days were behind us, both as a parfumista and fashion-ista; that is, until I recently was gifted a 4 piece 20 ml men's coffret from English Laundry. (Thank the gods for Macys one day sales!) Two stunning metallic EDP's and two gradient colored EDT's were handsomely packaged in tight foam in a faux (but tres chic) leather chocolate-colored box emblazoned with "English Laundry by Christopher Wicks". Before I removed a single cap or pressed an atomizer I knew I was in for a treat! Though the caps were silver plastic over black inserts (and not glued together very well, all four came apart upon uncapping) yet they fit tightly on the flacon and had a classy engraving "English Laundry" in cursive. I wasn't too upset-I bought them to wear and smell NOT to display. The sprayers delivered a wide fine mist of fragrance that instantly made me smile and not regret this "scent unsniffed" impulse buy. This masculine EDP is the best of all possible outcomes. Many disparage this company (and others like Perry Ellis) as creating "dupes" of other already popular releases. I find this mentality to be a tad bit pedantic and rather narrow-minded. Does one "dis" a Bugatti for not being a Lamborghini or Alfa Romeo? DO Saturns rule and Honda Civics drool?! They are all cars with engines, doors, windows and seats. The difference is in the way each model rides, how much it costs, and (ultimately) how well it performs, depending on what you bought it for. One does not expect an MG to tow a ton of cargo or a Ford F150 to go from 0-70 in 4.3 seconds. Let's be real here, folks... Oxford Bleu shares many attributes with VERSACE Eros, some with DIOR Homme Eau and even some of Sauvage. Yet, from this gypsy's viewpoint when you can find everything you want in an SUV or a Crossover, do you really NEED a convertible, a van and a day-to-day grocery getter? Some do; I however do not. Oxford Bleu EDP takes the best parts of many mass market high-end designer frags and synthesizes them into a superb "hybrid" while remaining very affordable (even by designer prices, let alone the niche and luxe market) resulting in a stunning luxury utility fragrance! The top notes of green tart apple, cool mint and luminous lemon keep pace with Eros, lasting a bit longer and IMHO smelling a bit less synthetic and more refreshing without any cloy at all. Fusing the debonair heart note of smooth iris from DIOR Eau and adding it to the toasty nutty coumarin of Tonka (Eros) and dry floral spiciness of geranium (also found in Sauvage) is much better to my nose than Eros with its ambroxan core, but less luxurious and complex than Sauvage: something I am willing to concede considering the price difference. The drydown of vetiver, vanilla and moss (I doubt seriously if it is actual evernia prunasti, more likely an evernyl isolate) maintains poise and elegance; while radiating warmth, earthiness and a hint of mysterious woodiness. Eros, with its double dose of Altas and Virginia cedar is more sweet and slightly balsamic where the sandalwood used in Oxford Bleu (and in neither Sauvage, nor Homme Eau) is smooth and sexy without trying too hard. All in all a completely competent creation that hits all the en vogue "marks" of the Big Guys and delivers in longevity (all day or overnight if applied for evening wear) projection/sillage and is an EDP concentration (not just in title but in its presence and throughout its duration) and behaves as such. Very proper very dignified and though it may have some things in common with the trendsetters, it takes everything I really liked about all three and funnels them into one beautiful manscent without it smelling like a chemical mess or an "if you like ___, you'll LOVE ____" dupe. Smart, sexy and everything I was looking for in a modern EDP-without having to spend over 300 dollars at the counters. Just like their fashion, English Laundry takes the normal and ubiquitous and embroiders it with something extra (but not "too much") and the result is fantastic! Sillage: moderate to heavy Longevity: very good to excellent Overall: 4.5/5 I tip my hat to Mr. Christopher Wicks. I have always adored his designs (have a couple shirts hanging in my walk-in) and though I knew he had began a scent line in 2010, I was almost afraid to try them for fear they would be ubiquitous and trite. Nothing could be further from the truth. And, for the record: I love the fraiche opening of Homme Eau and how ethereal Francois Demachy made when he streamlined the original DIOR Homme without drowning it in "calone". I also think that Sauvage (while not all that WILD) smells fabulous and its spicier woodier incense-rich composition is masterfully blended and utterly worth owning. I just think Oxford Bleu is easier to wear, less cloying and (though every bit stiff upper lip and "English" perfume) doesn't take itself too seriously-but smells seriously good! Disclosure: I have a full gift-set of Eros and a deluxe mini of Sauvage. What makes a successful designer is seeing what the market wants...and then giving it to them. Oxford Bleu does that, without being vulgar or overtly copy-catting anything. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, or in our case the nostril of the sniffer, and I can tell you without a doubt (and before wearing the other three in my coffret) I will definitely be adding the other SEVEN men's scents...and, quite possibly the five "femme" ones, to my collection as well. Smell swell & be well...GP

03SEP21 (1423) Received my bottle of this today. From the first whiff...VERSACE - EROS!! BUT... It doesn't have that "Funky" note that smells like stale sweat. I had a sampler of "Versace - Eros" last month and after wearing it for 30 minutes I kept smelling my clothes to find out if I was wearing something that was funky or had been worn before somehow...cause I kept smelling funky old sweat. Needless to say, once I figured out that it was the "Eros" causing that nasty note...it got pitched in the "Donation" bin. Now "English Laundry - Oxford Bleu" is everything great about Eros PLUS better longevity, better projection, better mixture of notes, better dry-down and I have a feeling it will layer better as well. The Mint in this at the start is much more prominent, while I'm not getting much of the Apple and it seems to jump directly into the Vanilla...which I don't mind at all. I'm really hoping this will act as a good base-layer for layering other scents with lower longevity. I will try it with my favorite, "Burberry - Touch" tonight and we shall see... I will be testing it out in full performance tonight at an event. I will spray it on at 1600 this afternoon and head out the door. I should return by midnight so I'll know if it actually still lasts by that time. I'll post an update after. 04SEP21(1823) Whoowee...this scent lasted through the whole gig, dinner after and equipment breakdown. So Oxford Bleu DEFINITELY lasts a long time!! 7 hours last night...very nice. I could still smell it in the vehicle on the way home even after getting a little sweaty putting up equipment. I am going to layer it with my favorite violet scent tomorrow to see how it blends. 06SEP21 Oh man oh man...completely confirmed...this is my new base-layer vanilla cologne!! Not only does it last more than 10 hours when sprayed 3-4 times, it boosts whatever you put on top of it. I layered it with "Ajmal - Violet Musc" yesterday morning and I still smelled great last night! The "Oxford Bleu" actually outlasted "Violet Musc", that's a first...but I'm completely pleased. I'll be ordering a backup bottle in November, this is going to be one of my mainstays. "Insurrection - Reyanne Tradition" will be going in the "Donation" bin...it's not as powerful or nearly as "Vanilla" as "Oxford Bleu". This is so awesome!

Got this at TJ Maxx for 16 dollars for a 2 pack including a 30ml bottle and a 100ml bottle. I agree with the sentiment that this is a more mature, professional friendly version of eros. The opening of my bottle is quite minty but smooth and the lemon shows through in a nice way. The floral notes combined with the base offer this fragrance a mellow dry down, and all I can think when smelling it on my skin after the dry down is "that's kinda nice." And that's exactly what it is. Just a nice, mellow, inoffensive brother to Eros. Is it an effective clone? Not really, but I'd say that's not the point of this. Think of this as a flanker of Eros maybe. Slightly different for a different purpose. If you like the eros dna, I say get it. Save the real deal for clubs, parties, situations where you can really blast off and let loose. Use this version for low key hangouts around people in closer quarters, going to work, slightly more professional environments, anywhere it's louder, stronger, younger brother might not be welcome. Imagine it's as if Eros put a cologne on itself to go to a meeting. Longevity and performance are good. Safe to overspray slightly if you work in an environment where you'll be moving a lot and not necessarily in other people's faces. Projection is inoffensive and lasts a good 6-8 hours before I would really consider reapplying.

Woody-Floral-Musk TONKA-APPLE-MINT with Vanilla & Iris. This is a dupe of Eros Versace with good approximation and moderate performance. Once the spray dries and the sillage starts to open up I can feel the diffuse aromatic-green & faint fruity nuances, but already vanilla is swelling through. As it transitions to the heart I can feel the tonka-bean with its sweet woody & soft-spicy tobacco-blossom-like tones, along with the powdery facets of iris. The tonka here, combined with apple from the opening leans to apple-pie underneath the minty-aromatics. The base is gorgeous with its vanilla-woods accented by vetiver & oakmoss. Overall I get a tonka scent with some minty-apple aromatics in the opening, and that gets sweeter, fruitier & powderier as it dries down with vanilla & iris. This has average or slightly above average performance for year-round wear. Contrast to Eros Versace: These are different, but this scent is no doubt inspired by Eros, and there's a similar vibe with tonka, vanilla, apple, mint & vetiver. However Eros has a more forward ambroxan note, while Oxford Bleu has a more forward iris. Both have good performance, but Eros outperforms. Overall: gorgeous, affordable tonka scent, with minty-apple opening and vanilla-iris drydown. It's a love for me. Enjoy!

I'll say it up front. This is a Versace Eros clone. I'll also say this. I like it a lot better. This is an EDP as opposed to Eros' EDT concentration although this one isn't quite as in your face. It retains the smell without the attitude. The top is a little different, though, I will say. It's a bit linear. I get the full mint/vanilla/soft wood right up front and the scent lingers in this mode for the entirety of the fragrance. The best part of Versace Eros is on full display the entirety of this frag. That's not a bad thing. Longevity is killer on this one, 12+ hours. Sillage is enormous too but again, it leaves the obnoxious edge of Eros at the door so people will likely not be put off by it. Since it is a little more refined, I'd say if you like Eros and you're over 40, here is where you should spend your money. This could work in many different situations but is probably more suited to cooler weather or at night.

I'd come across an English Laundry set of four at Marshall's for $24! Jackpot! I'd had this one on my hit list for colognes to buy. Unfortunately most have to be a blind buy as the perfume shops around here don't carry a wide variety of things other than the big name designer stuff (and at outrageous prices!). As soon as this hit my nose, bam! Eros! But a different Eros. An Eros that isn't like high-fiving bros, smacking asses, and dabbing all night, but an Eros that is winking from across the way while just chillin' with his buds with a top-shelf drink in his hand. Its not in your face with this recipe, but this being an EDP, projects and lasts! I would even say it outperforms Eros! (On my skin anyway) Overall, a great scent that is 90% Eros, but how I personally think Eros SHOULD be. A 9/10 for me! Cheers!

I really liked Eros when it originally hit the market, but there were so many people hating on it, that I let that color my judgement and stopped wearing it. Oxford Bleu is very similar to Eros, but has a more gentlemanly quality to it, due in part to the powdery iris note and is less in your face than Eros. It's also an EDP and has oakmoss for fantastic longevity and projection. Now that Eros seems to be a shell of its former self, this is definitely the one to get. Oxford Bleu is a total love for me! Scent: 9/10 Projection: 9/10 Sillage: 9/10 Longevity: 10/10 Versatility: 9/10 Price: 10/10

First review here. Seriously this is one of the best scents I've ever tried. It lasts all day, projection is good without being overkill. I would wear it on any occasion in any weather. Only downside is I could see it being unisex so if you want something purely masculine you might not love it. Also its pretty sweet but I find A*Men by Thierry Mugler to be sweeter and I still like that too. I got free samples as Dilliards and fell in love with this brand pretty fast. A lot of people say this smells like Versace Eros, I find it to be different and much better.

Absolutely phenomenal, I love it and cant take it for granted. First and for most, it does smell similar to Eros. So to give you a quick answer, if you like Eros and see this at a discounter for less, give it a try. Very clean, sexy, and masculine. Will get you noticed in a crowd and loved for it. This thing has good projection and good longevity. If you know Eros you will know this one is a pleaser. Good projection Good longevity For the scent: 91/100 For oxford bleu overall: 86/100

If you can picture Versace Eros as Ronnie Ortiz-Magro while on the jersery shore show. You can picture this scent as a young Ronnie, who decided "no, there is more to life than clubbing and f#&@^ing random girls" I am going work hard, study hard in school and then Ronnie landed a scholarship at Oxford and is a well put, young lad. Oxford Bleu = Versace Eros - Douche bag versace vibe + niche quality box. I like versace eros, but if i was to do it all over again, i'd pick this one.

I like how Versace Eros smells, but I can't tolerate ambroxan. Oxford Bleu is similar to Eros, but WAY more wearable for me. It's vanilla powdery, in a similar way that Le Male and Perry Ellis 360 White are vanilla powdery. The only thing that's missing is that minty top note that you'd get from an initial blast of Eros or Le Male. In my humble opinion, this is the best that English Laundry has to offer (and I've tried just about all of them).

What a sleeper! This scent is a try for anyone who likes sweet, creamy, slightly powdery scents! Don't let the designer branding fool you. Oxford Bleu opens with a minty, green, apple accord then dries immediately into a comfortable Tonka bean warmness. It's not sharp or boastful, but smooth and caress-like. This sucker also has some real lasting power. I certainly did not expect this scent to come from a bottle like this.

This is much better than Eros. Not because of the price, but because of the more wearable smell. This is smooth compared to loud like Eros. I got it from a mini traveler box set from Burlington around 2020. This stuff lasts pretty long too for the price point. 6 hours easy and projects well. From some of the reviews below it looks like they've reformulated this as well because earlier versions are sort of beast performers

This one is nostalgia for me. My first real cologne. I got it from Goodwill of all places. It does smell like Eros, but more luxurious and "serious" in my opinion. It's absolutely beautiful. Top 3 in my entire collection. It is sweet yet also has a freshness to it. Who would wear this? I imagine a 25 year old well groomed law student who attends a prestigious university, but he also a fun social side. 9/10

To me it smells just Versace Eros, which happens to be one of my signature scents. I would use this for casual or office wear as it is very non-offensive. Both the longevity and projection is very good with this fragrance. I have no complaints. I really enjoy wearing several from the house of English Laundry. If you love Versace Eros like I do, than this would be an easy pick up. I give it an 8/10.

super cheap if you look around, lasts absolutely forever, smells a little on the cheap side. Scent stands out for sure. Sweet, vanilla, mint, fresh and sexy. Sometimes can just be too much. Not a daily wear for me, just like how having too many sweet snacks at a time and getting bored/sick of it. Never smelled Eros so I’m not sure how similar they are, but for 10$ why not just get this?

Does smells like Versace Eros. Comes out fresh and light, then takes on the heavier scents of Vanilla, Iris, Tonka Bean, and Wood. Due to that heaviness coming in, I think that's more of a nighttime scent. In the drydown, it does become sweeter with that Vanilla and Iris dancing with each other. Don't see why this can't be a unisex fragrance.

Incredible masterpiece,it does not smell like versace eros,it similar to johane b rich icone. This fragrance is a classic,its a great casual fragrance,its smooth and sneaky. If you enjoy fragrances like perry ellis,tommy bahama,bond # 9 you will enjoy this masterpiece. I love this fragrance,its underated and classy. Break da bed !!!

It does smell similar to Eros, but Eros is "too powdery" & O Blue takes a different path from the opening to a fresher soapier scent which in my opinion is a lot better than Eros. I dont know how long both last but i would rather purchase a full bottle of O Bleu than Eros, not because of price but scent. Its smells amazing!!!👍😏

Honestly...I prefer this over Eros mainly because that horrid "mint" note goes away with Oxford Bleu. You get the creamy decadent vanilla without that putrifying mint note. I gave all the Eros versions a try and the only ones I'm keeping are the Parfum and Flame. The EDT & EDP will get sold or given away...I can't do the mint.

This is a lighter but yet stronger version of versace eros,honestly i like this better than eros,this is a hidden gem.just think eros with about 15% montblanc legend spirit vibe.this may be my new signature scent which my favorite was cambridge knight.10 out of 10

Didn't realize this was a clone of Versace Eros until I bought it. The second I sprayed it Eros came to mind. If you own Eros you don't need this. So so similar. Very nice bottle though and not a bad price.

I'm surprired at how much I'm enjoying this scent. Great option if you want to wear something a lil sweeter without being over bearing. In addition, it's lasts a long time. Definitely worth trying!

Oxford Bleu is a wonderful cheap alternative for eros. Prominent vanilla and apple notes which is very nice but the longevity for me is very poor and is gone after a little over an hour.

This is an 80% clone of Versace Eros....I give it a 8 out of 10 with 8 out of 10 silage longevity...Very very lovely fragrance

Got this on Macy’s Black Friday in July. Best $25 bucks spent. Awesome fragrance. My wife approves.

To me this is a combination of ysl y edp and eros well blended geranium with the vanilla and mint

It is a great cologne other than the fact that it lasts 3 hours at most and it is a skin scent

I have to speak on this one, as I can usually find a fragrance in a store, read one or two of the big hitter comments or reviews from Fragrantica and get an idea of what I'm about to purchase. This is one of those times where ...I really don't agree with you guys. UPDATED EDIT 6/18/26 I wanted to add to this before it got too late. While the fragrance is still pleasant, compared to what it's supposed to be based off of, I have to say. Oxford Bleu has gotten extremely boring for me pretty fast. I would once call this a 'Blatant Blind Buy'; Though as of this date, I can only say it's worthwhile if you can get it cheap. It's just a softer version of what it's duped, and boring. It loses its charm very fast, sadly. 'The Eros-like' Claims... — I simply don't see it. In fact, I don't see a ton of Eros in this. In fact, one of my biggest dislikes about Eros is, once you spray it on you, you get louder notes first, and once it's been on you for at least an hour, the frag then starts to mellow the higher notes out and begin to rest, thus giving you geranium, vanilla, tonka bean, and a very slight cedar. The same doesn't go for this... To fairly rate and compare, I'd like to interject and say, Oxford Bleu is almost as if Guess Seductive Homme Blue, & Versace Eros had a baby. Why this? Oxford Bleu is very soapy. Something I'm surprised I've not seen a lot of mention of. Another characteristic I don't see if Eros. The soapiness note is very reminiscent of Seductive Homme Blue, along with the Geranium note, they seem implemented in the same way, whereas with Eros, the geranium is more of a wayside note. On first spray, it's sweet, very sweet, a light vanilla note, with iris and a hint of mint. These are the beginning notes you'll hit on the first few sprays onto skin. Where Oxford Bleu finds itself differently to Eros is in the green apple note. With Eros, the green apple is prominent and doesn't hide its head, it's a very crisp smell. With Oxford Bleu, it's there, but fairly tucked away by the floral notes, it's also a lot more subtle. The notes on Fragrantica seem to be different from the listed notes on the English Laundry site. Oxford Bleu shares a few keynotes to mention, two important ones that add to my comparison being, cardamom, & amber, both, being notes that take over as the fragrance is trying to dry down. This also leans back to the Seductive Homme Blue comparison, as the cardamom is implemented in a way similar to Homme Blue. That said, this may also be the cost of using more budget friendly oils, that lends to this spreadsheet of notes that appear similar. Oxford Bleu by English Laundry is an INCREDIBLE PURCHASE. $16? You must be mad to turn it down. It's a blind buy all day. I think blindly calling this an Eros dupe, is pure ignorance. As it shares some elements, but also has its own character. It's a matured 'Eros', if say we even feel comfortable calling it that. Oxford Bleu defines itself as a standout rainy weather, dry winter, and crisp and warm colored fall kind of scent. It carries maturity over Eros, and arguably leans more into the seductive elements, while remaining sweet, leaning towards the brighter side of things, but also being enough to grab attention. I'd call this a safer buy than Eros, a true 8.2/10, and an over all charmer of a fragrance. Period.

English Laundry is a house of clones that typically are EDP in strength compared to EDTs like most of what they are duping. They are basically the Armaf or Rasasi of the designer world. I own Signature which I purchased cheap, $25 USD for 100ml (that said I've heard the English Laundry scents can go for less but I haven't seen) and figured why not try Oxford Bleu from the same house. So I bought a decant. What I find with Oxford Bleu is a refined and more sophisticated Versace Eros. It isn't beastly but then again many say Eros itself is a shell of its former self with the more recent formulations. Oxford Bleu has a strong mint, citrus/apple open before going sweet with tonka into a spicy vanilla base. There is some slight iris but it isn't strong and isn't as make-up baggy as most say iris typically goes. As mentioned before Oxford Bleu is not as strong as Eros on my skin. Eros is or should I say was (due to the aforementioned reformulations), a club scent. Oxford Bleu would be a good scent to compliment Eros for dates. I wouldn't say it is redundant at all since you don't wanna wear a club scent for a date but want to wear something similar for your date if you met her at the club. Oxford Bleu is projects in between moderate and soft for about two hours. Then it lasts another five as a skin scent. It works best in spring, fall and winter all day scent. Don't wear this in high heat. Unlike most English Laundry scents, Oxford Bleu is nice but not a must, must buy. Especially since pricing unless you get it discounted is a total rip-off. Even most discount websites when it is stock, I would say it isn't good priced, well unless you are in one of those unlucky area that don't have a good Ross/Marshall's/Burlington/TJ Maxx store that don't ever get anything good. $14.99-24.99 is a great deal for this but anything more and it is not worth it. For this reason I have to give Oxford Bleu a 6.9 out of 10. It is great to replace Eros for dates, but it isn't the club replacement for me. If it is for you, great. Go with La Nuit de L'homme Eau Électrique or Montblanc Legend Night for a club option similarish to Eros.

#161 in my "Tour de Fragrance", the 3rd English Laundry scent I've tried, and to my surprise this is a keeper, whereas this afternoon I gifted full bottles of Notting Hill and Riviera to one of the baristas at the coffee shop I frequent rather than tossing them into the trash bin. There's a lot to like with this fragrance. I get the Eros comparisons though it's really not a dupe. The vanilla, green and powder come through loud and clear. I like that the woodiness is very subtle. I especially appreciate that this scent has some staying power whereas Riviera and Notting Hill were indetectable in minutes. I like that the powder note is stronger than the vanilla, so I smell clean from the shower, and not like a pint of Haagen Dazs. Every woman in my life loves the very vanilla forward scents, but I really appreciate it being a second or even third impression. I'm aware that I may in part be over-reacting to the contrasting bad experiences I had with the Notting Hill and Riviera in my enthusiasm for Oxford Bleu, a kind of whipsaw effect if you will, but I don't think I'm over-selling this when I say this scent is worth $34.99 for the 100ml at Walmart, though certainly not the $85 Amazon wants. You should just get the Eros in that event, and as I already have fresh bottles of Eros and Eros Flame, each of which has garnered tons of compliments, I'm good for this category, at least until those are used up. But this fragrance will absolutely do for every day, non-date, out-and-about, and I'll use this bottle for daytime activity and consider it for future needs.

This is a very great fragrance. I have tried Versace Eros, English Laundry Oxford Bleu does smell very similar to Versace Eros, but they do not smell the same. Oxford Bleu has a lot less of the mint and more of the tonka bean when compared to Eros. There are more note differences, but those are the most noticeable. Keeping in mind these note differences, Oxford Bleu is a lot less sharp smelling due to the less prominent mint, which for me is a huge plus as I like smoother fragrances. Now that I think about it, I am starting to dislike Eros due to the amount of mint it has, especially now that I have smelled something so similar that caters to me better. This is not a perfect scent, when I first sprayed there was almost no projection, and either the lemon and mint or the alcohol itself was very harsh smelling for a short while. After about twenty to thirty minutes, it then starts getting to the creamy smell that most people love Eros for, and on my skin it has a moderate projection. Considering that you can also get this fragrance for cheaper than Eros, I would highly recommend this over Eros. Plus, the fact that so few people know about this fragrance and use it, it makes me like it more as I can be more unique despite it smelling similar to a fragrance that many people do use. Also, it comes in a very nice box that could be easily used for display purposes.

A good fragrance for a man. Very similar to Versace Eros EDT (you could say that Oxford Bleu is his quieter, more well mannered younger brother... They belong to the same family and share a similar DNA) without the minty apple opening. The vanilla dry down is also much less pronouced. Everything is more subtle. Very easy to enjoy. This will not overpower someone nearby, however this does have a very pleasant scent. You can overspray this to increase performance without causing a headache. I went 9 sprays (2 on each wrist, 2 on each shoulder, 2 each side of the neck, 2 chest, and 1 middle chest) and my sister who smelled me still said it was not overpowering (she enjoyed the scent) If you want to get noticed at the club and smell "loud", get Versace Eros EDT. Oxford Bleu is when you go over to your friends house or are in the office or classroom and do not need or want to overpower the senses of those around you while at the same time still want to smell good. Good fragrance. Solid buy. I would go so far to say this is a safe blind buy if you like Eros at all. For the student or professional who wants to maintain a sense of classiness without being overbearing.

This review is for English Laundry Oxford Bleu Femme which is not in the database. The opening is all pineapples and melon which quickly settles into violets, sweet creamy vanilla and sandalwood. It is inoffensive and office safe. The only issue with this perfume is that I cannot smell it after 10 mins. If you bury your nose into your skin, it's still there but, it stays very close and does not project. This might be an effect of the high humidity in FL. Luckily, I purchased a set with the body cream which I'll use together with the perfume, to fortify the scent. I'm curious to see how this performs in cooler weather. I will keep looking out for the male version, which I'm sure will be a bit stronger.

I really like this scent and it’s in between a love and a like for me ! Not quite a love but pretty dang close. To get this out of the way YES it is inspired by Versace Eros but Eros is more sweet,loud and juvenile while Oxford Bleu is more smooth,refined and office friendly ! On its own this opens up fresh,semi sweet and a touch powdery and very similar to a lot of the blue fragrances nowadays. Once this dries down it stays pretty much the same but it does get more smooth,powdery and has a nice sandalwood and tonka combo in the drydown that is just lovely ! The longer this sets on your skin the better it gets ! Performance on this is excellent for a 12.99 fragrance as it has above average projection for 2 hours but is a very noticeable skin scent that lasts 12+ hours on my skin !! First day I wore this at the grocery store I did receive a compliment so it also has great potential for positive feedback! Overall rating -8 out of 10 ! Very solid all around fragrance but still not one of my all time faves

I like Versace Eros...but for some weird reason, I don't wear it as much because it just has this 'loud' vibe, like I should only wear it to a nightclub or something. The problem is, I don't really go to nightclubs, but I do like the basic smell of Eros. I picked up a bottle of Oxford Bleu, and it smells great. The mint/apple top with the sandalwood, vanilla tonka is blended very well. It lasts quite long and projects quite strongly like Eros...it just has a slightly more 'refined' feel to it while smelling 90% the same. I don't know if the ingredients are of a better quality or if it is blended better than Eros...to my nose it just smells slightly better. If i was a younger guy and was hitting the town, Eros would be just fine. I was looking for a similar smell...just a bit more refined and somehow less 'in your face'. I think Oxford Bleu will work for me. One final thing - if you like compliments, I can see this getting a lot of them. It smells great and will get you noticed.

It didn't occur to me that English Laundry was a clone of Eros till I read it in the comments... With that said I immediately tested them side by side on test strips. The opening had them very smelling pretty different, 2-3 hours in when I checked up on them they rode a similar wave, but now almost 8 hours later while similar Eros still has that mint lingering over English Laundry. When I woke up this morning they were on my computer desk about 10 feet away from my bed but my room had their combined scent (not sure which one projected more) at 2 sprays a piece. As a sort of clone to Eros one of the most popular bar/club scents pretty much everywhere. Personally for me it suffers from not being "unique". Will you smell good? Yes. Will you pull compliments? Yes. Will you smell like every guy in his 20s at the bar? Absolutely! Especially since most bars/clubs have a bottle with the bathroom clerk that keeps pushing the cologne to guys.

Clean office fragrance that is a bargain brand, without being a cheap smelling scent. Has a mix of straight office, with 50% Riviera (so now I know where Riviera came from). Top notes described don't come off my skin, as I'm not really getting a citrus scent, nor green apple, though I get a sweet graham cracker aroma, which has to be a blend from the Tonka. Not a fan of Tonka, however they did a nice combo on this one. Base notes are also complimenting as the fragrance finishes. I like to have a cheapie, along with the expensive stuff, and this would be a great find. Most English Laundry you can find at TJ Maxx, or Burlington Coat Factory for $20. At that low of a price, you can blind buy, or even grab a .50ml sampler of 4 frags. Give it a go!

It's good but I don't love it. It's very similar to eros. However, it just doesn't mesh quite right and I can't put my finger on it. I have gotten compliments from it but i feel eros (dont have a bottle just tested in stores) is more mass appealing. This I feel is an older guys fragrance and I think that's why it put me off. I would put it in the barbershop fragrance category as it somewhat smells like shaving cream and I'm sure others can back me up on that and some people genuinely enjoy this category however I do not. Should you check it out? Totally! It's cheap and add some meat to your fragrance collection and who knows you just might really like it I think it has a very classy undertone that Eros lacks.

First impression.. This definitely smells like Ero's. It is in the same genre for sure. A minty sweet semi fresh powdery type fragrance. might come off as almost a floral vibe to some people. It smells nice to me and maybe a little more refined than eros. the performance on this is very impressive. Sprayed my hand earlier this afternoon and its past 2am now. still can smell it on my hand even after washing my hands.. Very impressive. If you like Eros than this is certainly a try . I might prefer this one, not sure I haven't smelled Ero's in quite some time. Yes it is sort of a generic and perhaps a little synthetic of a scent... but it might do the job well Scent 4/5 performance 5/5

This is Versace Eros but for the for the guy who wore V. E. is his youth. This is 95% the same scent but with hints of Iris and less woods! (Vanilla, mint, green apple, citrus and geranium) This makes the scents ''much older''. Very good compliment getter from everybody Not very versatile: night outs, dates or for casual wearing are the occasion appropriate to my opinion. Too loud for the office. Fall winter ans spring scent moslty. Very good longevity around 7 to 9 hours. If you still have a bottle of Eros, this is not worthy to purchase because its redoundant. So recommended 7.5/10

Grown up Eros. The original Eros is known for it being a clubbing fragrance, and it has owned that since the day it was introduced. IN my opinion not much changes in the concentration until you got Eros Parfum, and thats an entirely different review. This is Eros for the office, Oxford Bleu. Its a little more toned down, its a smoother edp concentration. Its really affordable and almost elegant. Sure Eros edp or parfum will do the trick too but, try this if you're on a budget. Have fun on your fragrance adventure! 9/10

As someone who usually finds mens’ fragrances to be too overbearing and loud, i must say that i don’t mind this one at all. The vanilla and sandalwood definitely come through, with the mint also being detectable. I received this as a sample and I may just consider a purchase for personal use, and I also am open to trying the womens’ version of this. It reminds me of some of the higher end women’s’ perfumes that are a bit stronger and have some more unisex notes, but I can’t put my finger on which one.

Smells like an amalgamation of a "greatest hits" list of fragrances that have been released since the 90s. It's a safe, office-friendly, long-lasting generic "nice" scent with that common synthetic undercurrent that seems to tie it to fragances others have mentioned (along with quite a few that haven't been). Oxford Bleu is nothing special. Still, if you can purchase it for what it is ACTUALLY worth - no more than half its retail price - having it in your arsenal as a quick go-to can't hurt.

Yup, Versace Eros Clone indeed.... Sprayed this on one hand, and eros on the other. The only distinguishing difference, is Eros has a more prominent and sharper mint note in the opening. Once they start to dry down....both become practically the same fragrence. However, Eros edges it out in the longevity department. I’ve noticed all of English laundry scents are pretty short lived (4 hours max with the 4 different ones I’ve owned)

Yeah this is a clone of Versace Eros but this has more sweetness and tonka bean up front that is more noticeable. Eros has more citrus and mint to begin with. This is one of the better ones I've smelled from English Laundry. I could have this a regular in my rotation. This is a good one and will get you noticed in positive ways. It smells expensive but it isn't which is one thing I like. I give this a 9.1/10

Its a softer version of EROS. It smells good, it smells a bit like dry down eros to me. I think eros is a better option then this but if you find it for 12.99 then yes grab it. It does not last long or project that well especially compared to eros. I have eros and i don't use this, i gave it to my dad and he likes it a lot.

If you like the scent of Eros but want something a little quieter and more versatile you would love this. Smells 90%+ similar just is not as loud and in your face as Eros can be, this would be something you could actually wear to work. Longevity is serviceable, could be better. Falls in the average range.
