Riviera

English Laundry Riviera is my third from this house and it doesn't disappoint at all. I might actually go so far as to say it is my favorite from the house and if I were to replenish any of the three, this would be it due to its uniqueness. I found Riviera in a TJ Maxx and to date is only the second I have bought from there since my local TJ Maxx's aren't that good with selection if not, pricing. Riviera was the cheapest English Laundry find I found at $15 for 100 ml while my signature was a $27 for 100 MP and Oxford Bleu is a decant. Riviera's scent is basically Chanel Allure Homme Sport but with some YSL L'Homme spice to it and Chanel Allure Homme Sport Eau Extreme sweetness. It is a little bit unique and not a total clone which is what this house is mostly known for. Riviera opens woody but has some strong citrus in it with the lemon turning to mandarin orange. The wood is supported by the nutmeg and pepper mid. The base has some Tonka and more woody. This scent is very creamy and nearly aquatic. Performance is nice. An hour to hour and a half of moderate projection and about 4/5 hours of being a lingering skin scent. From what I hear of Allure Homme Sport, it is about the same but nearly five times the price for the same sized bottle. Can't go wrong with that. Wearability may be a problem though. It is very much a summer spicy scent. You can wear it outside in spring and even fall. It can be worn in the office all year and casually, but it is only OK for dates (especially if your date knows frags) and it isn't an active scent to me due to the spice and sweetness in the base. Don t wear this dressed up. Overall I give English Laundry Riviera a 8.4 out of 10. I love it, but it isn't a skeleton key all time all occasion scent.

Soft & Wearable, Clean WOODS, CITRUS & AMYRIS. Opens with a woody-citrus burst of cedar supported by a trio of citruses (bergamot, lemon & lime). There's a lot going on here in the heart, but you get some spicy aromatics with pepper, nutmeg & lavender, and a near-fruity sweetness that slowly emerges from mandarin & a grape-leaning jasmine, supported by multi-faceted coumarin & vetiver that bring some sweet, warm and grassy touches. This all rests on a shades-of-wood base with amyris bringing some piney-balsamics with a citrus nuance. I particularly enjoy the amyris here - the longer it's on the skin, the sweeter it gets and nearer to fruitiness. This has the English Laundry men's DNA, which for me is an enjoyable, soft, wearable, faintly-soapy & woody vibe. This isn't a beast mode performance, but that's one of the things that I like because it never overpowers. This is targeted to men, and does lean masculine, but anyone could wear it. Has average performance for a spring-summer wearing experience. It's a love for me. Enjoy!

This is my first English Laundry fragrance and I love it. After initially seeing English Laundry Signature and Arrogant at TJ Maxx and noticing they got fairly good reviews plus were generally around $12 so I decided to keep my eyes open for one that was a fresh scent. I saw this one today boxed and wrapped at Burlington for $12 and decided to jump on it since I had never seen this before. I am getting down to the last few squirts of my discontinued Kenneth Cole T-shirt (which I do in fact spray on my t-shirts) so I badly needed to find a replacement. I saw others complain about the longevity of this frag but I gave it one test spray on my shirt 5 hours ago and it's definitely still there. It is probably due for another soon. I would say for work purposes, longevity is just right. If it's anything like KC T-Shirt on skin, yeah, it will disappear quite quickly. Well, I definitely lucked out on this frag, just in time too. Certainly worth $12 on clothing.

I get a little bit of La Nuit De L'Homme for the first 20 minutes; probably from the spices and brighter aspects of the citrus creating a cardamom-y illusion. Other than that I get a very fresh, tangy citrus blend on top of mowed grass. Reminds me quite a bit of Sauvage EDP, kind of a candied lemon vibe. Hmmm. No detectable ambroxan though Gonna need to think this one through, it's sort of a mess but also very pleasant. My brain is still trying to make sense of all the notes. Right now it's a solid "like" for me. I'm just on the cusp of loving it. What’s confusing is the heart; I get a bit of Jergens lotion under the aquatic citrus scent.Slightly creamy/oily and just a bit smoky/medicinal. Florals+sandal+guaiac perhaps? **edit** at the far edges of the drydown, I get jasmine and woody notes+vetiver. Interestingly, this final phase reminds me of a very toned down Mugler Alien.

I love the English Laundry clothing line, so I'd decided to try out some of their fragrances and heard a lot about Oxford Bleu and Tahitian Waters. This one starts off with a fresh blast of citrus. The acidic scent is pleasing and it quickly dries down into the sweeter, woody scent while keeping its freshness. This fragrance certainly projects and the longevity is up there with some of the longer lasting EDT's. If you want to be a different kind of fresh-smelling and stand out, give this one a shot! It's got the power and projection to get you noticed in a social setting. 7/10 for me! Cheers!

Just getting in to fragrances, but I love this one! Good balance of fresh, sweet, floral, woodsy, spicy. Some people complain about longevity, but for me 3 sprays can still be smelled on my shirt 10 hours later. Maybe I got a good bottle! Silage seems decent as well in the first hour or 2. I walked in to the room and someone 6 feet away smelled me instantly and said they liked it. Probably inconsistencies with a cheaper product, but how can you go wrong at this price? 16.99 Canadian from fragrancebuy.ca.

This is such a clean scent. Kind of a Soapy, Aquatic, Jasmine, Lilly esque scent. Hard to put my finger on but Riviera is a fitting name, it's easy to imagine wearing this scent while walking along the beautiful villas with their gardens in full bloom. I hope to God none of my friends find my account and read what I just said above BUT I'll stand by it. A great scent and I'd pay around the $40ish range for it. Very unique, safe & pleasing scent.

It's 4/03/22...Bought this fragrance 4/2/22...yesterday! This smells Extremely similar to Dolce & Gabana Light Blue! Pour Homme I would venture to say almost a 1 for 1(?)! I wanna' say, that in all categories, Riviera matches D&G Light Blue!...just my opinion! This is definitely a Best Buy Cheapie!...and doesn't smell cheap at all...! You must add this to your collection!

After seeing comments comparing this to La Nuit De L'Homme I checked for myself. This does, somewhat, smell like La Nuit Bleu Electrique + Bleu De Chanel or some other fresh blue frag. However, this definitely isn't a clone fragrance, but the quality is off the charts for as cheap as you can find it at discounters, only thing lacking is the performance.

This smells great! It smells slightly sweet, slightly aquatic and it has a nice amount of spices and depth to it. I think this is a unique one. This to me is an adventurous type of scent for a guy that has excitement in his life and that is outgoing. I like this one! I give this a 9.3/10 This is backup bottle worthy for me!

I have just get this Fragrance today and it is a nice summer Fragrance with a citrus, aromatic and hidden touch of woody notes very will blended with high quality it is a safe choice with above average rating 4 out of 5

Very nice inoffensive scent. Lasted all day in the winter even though it's more a summer scent. Picked a 1.7oz at Burlington Coat factory for $5.99. Best value purchase ever. Reminds me of Acqua Essenziale Colonia.

it’s super fresh in a floral way it’s very clean and not synthetic it gives a out of the shower feel with no soapyness but overall it’s really good just not that long lasting

first off I would like to say I am unable to find a batch code on this fragrance. But I have enjoyed this fragrance since I purchased I think a year or 2 ago this is most definitely a summer spring scent great for going out around town and maybe hitting the beach great when worn throughout warm days. Although the big downsides are the projection and the longevity today I sprayed 6 times and drove to the bank then straight to my girlfriends house (1 hour drive after being sprayed) and she was completely unable to smell it so projection and longevity are non existent and it was probably on my skin completely intimate for about 2 hours tops. So I would recommend overspraying the shit out of this fragrance but for around 10 to 15 bucks its definitely a good entry level fragrance to get you in the game it smells fantastic don't get me wrong but its so weak performance wise it would be so much better for example if they dropped an edp of this smelled exactly the same and made it have decent projection and longevity they could easily up the price on this to an average designer fragrance. but for someone like me who has 50 fragrances you can leave this one to the side for better performing fragrances but if you want to try for the price its definitely worth a shot may use this as a room spray to keep my room smelling good. Also the comment below by FragranceAnon is completely right and I would say factual although I have not smelled YSL L'Homme.

I saw this at TJ Max for $15, so I watched some YouTube videos reviewing this (there aren’t many). From some reviews was expecting a Versace Pour Homme, Chanel Allure Homme Sport vibe. I was hoping this was not going to be redundant. My first whiff of this was a surprise, at not at all what I had anticipated. At the same time it was both different but somehow familiar to fragrances I have smelled. It dawned on me that this is much closer to Yves Saint Laurent L’homme than VPH of CAHS. It’s not a clone of L’homme but definitely similar. I don’t get the Sauvage, Dylan Blue reference another reviewer posted at all; there is no ambroxin in this what so ever. This projects an arms length for about 1.5 hours, not great but acceptable. It’s longevity is average, about 6-7 hours. I can smell the quality of the ingredients though. It’s nice. Not the best scent I own, but well worth $15. This can work for spring, summer, and fall. Scent: 8.5/10 Longevity: 6/10 Projection: 5/10 Versatility: 7.5/10 Value: 8.5/10 Overall: 7.5/10

Another really good underrated release from English Laundry..This is their version of the Sauvage, dylan blue, ambroxan scents. Sure, it isnt anything super unique or special, but it is very nice. The performance is very good.. To the person below that sprayed each arm 11 times at 7am and couldn't smell it on themselves at 11am, thats because you probably choked yourself to death and everyone around you. I hope you got the necessary medical assistance and were revived to continue your frighteningly aggressive fragrance journey.

Bought this at a going out of business event, got the shampoo, travel spray and the 100ml. This is a nice freshie. When you first spray it there is a decent amount of citrus but that only last a short while, then the flowers come in and it settles down to the woods...but it really has kind of a cold cream vibe going, but it smell really fresh and nice. For me it is moderate in performance on all accounts. Would I recommend this as a blind Buy sure. This is good for the office, church or a social gathering.

First notes are citrus, slightly spicy and very fresh. Once the scent settles it becomes aquatic, woody and slightly peppery. I do enjoy putting this on any occasion and I consider it a versatile blue fragrance. This scent is a great bang for your buck, I found this for $12 at TJMaxx and I bet you can find online other 100ml bottles for around $20. Different twist on your average blue fragrance, I highly recommend to anyone who enjoys smelling fresh, solid 7/10.

In the same vein as YSL L'Homme. Versatile, clean, creamy, woody, a bit soapy. Longevity and projection are on the low side, but this remains a "like" for me because the scent itself is great (and YSL L'Homme doesn't last any longer). At the price this goes for you can buy more and spray more. Perfect for the office as it smells refined, fresh and masculine, gentleman vibes. You probably couldn't offend anyone with it, even if you over-sprayed.

A Fresh, Clear and Soothing fragrance. It opens up with like semi sweet fresh citrusy, green, floral and spicy notes in the background then dry down is semi sweet creamy green woody. This is perfect for the spring and summer. I like Riviera English Laundry EDT for Men. Longevity is not good but it smells so good and very pleasant with reasonable price. Rating : 7 / 10

Very fresh and clean scent. Something i cannot wait to wear in the heat to cool me down. It lasts a decent amount and i constantly get wiffs of it in the air. I would easily blind buy this but not online because they're like 45+. Go to marshals here and there and you'll catch these frags for 12.99. I had a travel size one and bought a full 100ml.

Pleasantly surprised with this one. Has kind of a fresh-spicy-woody-powdery thing going on. I would say that I find it somewhere in the neighborhood of Versace Pour Homme and Allure Homme Sport Extreme. Limited experience thus far, but I was impressed with the longevity of my first wearing.

A very pleasant smelling summer fragrance. I like the woody counterpoint to the citrus in the initial blast and the combination of scents in the drydown...oakmoss, sandlewood, etc.. Office worthy year round. really comes into its own during the warmer months. great longevity.

Not bad, reminds me of Chrome united like others mentioned. I sort of get a hint of La Nuit de L'homme as well. It's not bad stuff, its toned down and very wearable for all seasons. A little underwhelming, but it's decent juice overall. I wouldn't buy it personally.

Smells really good and I speak for myself when I say this.. it lasts a good 4-6 hours on me projection about an hour for $13 I’m very satisfied.

If you are really pinching pennies...you can’t go wrong buying this for $8 at TJMaxx or Marshall’s. IMHO, this is somewhere in between YSL L’Homme & Chanel Allure Sport Extreme. Longevity and projection are not great. Maybe I get four hour longevity on skin/clothes. Projection in pretty close right from the get-go. Super versatile and could wear year round by varying sprays...certainly good for any occasion. If money isn’t an issue, you are certainly better off buying one or both I previously mentioned. The longevity on this is so bad, I don’t want to have to reapply every 4 hours. Giving my bottle to my 8th grader.

Ysl la nuit de l'homme with a little blue note and citrus. Maybe a touch more powdery. Great scent worth getting a cheap sample or smell to tell if you like la nuit de l'homme or not. Unfortunely this scent lasts only 30 minutes. Date night fragrances need to last 2 hours imo which la nuit de l'homme still can even after reformulations. I used to love this, preached that the smell was amazing and it was good because the fact that it smelled good despite being weak. But then I discovered it's a clone after I got the real thing and have to give that credit to the original.

Nice, simple summer fragrance. I paid $15 at a TJ Maxx so it was a deal. A good summer spray on if you're just needing something to run around town and don't want to use something more expensive. I get little performance though, really only a couple hours with little sillage.

Pretty much a generic stuff. very weak performance. it is more like a deodorant or body spray than a EDT. the scent is very nice though. it is sport type, green, herbal, with a hint of white floral notes. perfect for summer time.

Another generic blue mess. Citrus and a whole lot of nothing.

After reading the comments, I thought I would give this scent a crack. I get maybe 2 hours, and that's it. It's weak sauce and very light. I pick up the citrus but it's not like you think. The middle and base of the cologne overpower the opening to the point where the citrus feels confused in here. One thing I'll give it is that it's a safe scent that you can wear in the office. It's been done before, and many of the comparisons are incorrect. Allure Homme Sport really? No. Chrome United? No. Yves St Laurent sure, but it's nowhere near the strength of that scent. 4/10 and I'm being generous.

A really pleasant scent that is fresh. Unfortunately has no projection and longevity is horrible. Scent is gone off my skin within 30 minutes. Too bad cause it has a such a fresh and delightful scent. I only paid 12.99 for it at Ross but feel like it was not worth 2.99 because of the terrible performance. I will not be buying anymore English Laundry fragrances.

waste of money. just got one yesterday 5 min go away on my skin and is more alcohol than scent. ....paid $13 at Burlington I should paid that money for signature blend by original penguin it smell much better it cost $15. guys don't buy riviera save that money for a shirt ( saw a nice puma shirt that day for 10 bucks )

The only place I found this perfume worth to use it is on my arms ( under my arms like a deodorant) otherwise on my skin or cloth only thing I smell is alcohol

Smells like generic men's cologne. This is a pass even for 12 bucks. Signature, Arrogant, and Throne are still the winners from this house.

Scent 6/10 Weak juice,I sprayed my arms 11 times each,at 7am it 11:18am i can't smell nothing! Riviera doesn't work for me.

I get orange and pepper. Base notes are pretty weak unfortunately. Synthetic and pretty bad

#157 in my "Tour de Fragrance" and my second trip down the road with English Laundry. Thank God for the scent notes or I'd never know what I'm not smelling. As with "Nothing Hill", the perfumers must have been vacationing on the "Riviera" when the factory ran out of perfume and substituted water. This smells okay for about three minutes, is barely a skin scent at ten. And it's the same citrus, wood and body powder scent you've smelled a hundred times, before it completely dissipates into a vague impression of the 2x4 you've had sitting in the garage since you moved in back in '06. Think "Yacht Man Red" and "Cuba Paris Shadow" with maybe worse projection and longevity if that were even possible. There are scents in this price range worth owning, mostly Arab imports. Try one of those. This scent is an absolute throwaway at any price and believe me when I tell you that's a hard thing for me to do. I still haven't been able to bring myself to throw away a bottle of Cuba Paris "Copacabana" (it works, sort of, as a bathroom deodorizer).

Not what I expected, and I’m glad! I’ve bought all of my English Laundry scents as blind buys because I’ve been fortunate to find them at Ross and TJ Maxx (and eBay) for absolute steals. My first were Notting Hill and Signature for Him (both outstanding) and then found Signature for her for my wife (amazing). So, with Riviera, I thought if the other three were so good, this one must be as well. I was expecting a very aquatic scent given the name and description, but what was hoping it wouldn’t be anything like Polo sport or Cool Water--not that those are bad, but just have that almost grape bubble gum smell that I can't shake. So, I am pleasantly surprised! Riviera starts with all the freshness of a citrus/cedar aromatic, but dries down to a very smooth, almost leather-like woodsy musk that is slightly powdery (don’t think talc, though) and still light enough for Spring and Summer. Could wear this one year-round, though. Not generic at all to me—very unique but subtle. PERFECT balance—nothing stands out too much. My one and ONLY gripe with English Laundry scents is their longevity and projection. To be fair, I think their EDP are more like EDT and their EDT are more like EDC, so just one step down in strength from what they’re labeled. But for me, that’s not an issue, since I don’t like filling a room with my fragrance. If you can find this or ANY English Laundry scent for under $25 on eBay or in a TJ Maxx, Ross, Burlington or Marshalls, GET IT!

It's got a combination of sweet, woody, citrus and powder aromas. That really shouldn't work together as they sound like they would clash, but Riviera is actually really fragrant and pleasant. It dries down to pleasant musk and white flowers to my nose. It does a good job differentiating itself from all the other English Laundry colognes. Unfortunately, and I am sounding like a broken record on this, it shares the same weakness as all the other scents in the English Laundry line. It has very weak performance overall and will require massive overspraying as well as repeat spraying. Anyone used to doing 3-5 sprays on themselves will be shocked at how much they need to spray Riviera just to get a decent performance out of it. Fortunately, it is very affordable so it is easy to replenish. This is good for Spring, Summer and Fall and leans younger. It is good for all occasions including formal ones. Best suited for men ages 40 and under.

I just wanna start by saying that this smells nothing like Allure Homme Sport. I'm astounded by all the people comparing it. Are their noses broken or is it mine? 🤷♂️ who knows. Anyways, from my perspective this fragrance is gorgeous, beautiful, elegant. BUT, and for me personally it is a big but. I don't care how cheap fragrances are, for me personally if a fragrance lasts less than an hour then what is the point? I don't wanna be reapplying several times through out an event. These companies really do try to take advantage of consumers, charging them for something that is like a fart in the wind. Ever since I bought this fragrance I decided I'd check reviews first before I buy. If they don't last at least 4 hours I don't buy, no matter how cheap. And unfortunately these day, a hell of a lot of fragrances don't last passing time because of the greed of some designers. Reformulated to save a few $$$$ but the prices keep going up. Rant over 😶

For me this is like a deeper and woodier YSL L’Homme. At first sniff this smells very mainstream, and generic, but there is more going on with this one than something like Sauvage or the other clones in that ballpark. The woods make this a scent that you can take a little bit more serious. Overall though I wouldn’t get super stoked about this one. It’s clearly just following a trend. Performance is quite good. This is a safe summer buy. If you like L’Homme but don’t like it’s lake of performance, try picking up this one. I sold most of my collection and am looking for a new summer scent. For now this will have to do.

I had this bottle unopened for the past couple months , just tried it 🤙🏼I’m happy with it and I’m not a big fan of aquatics or even freshies ... as far as that goes Terr’e de Hermes is about as fresh as I ever wear .... but this is good ! Riviera is not bad if you can get it for 15$ US ... only goes well for 2-4 hrs but at the price point I’d say just SPRAY AWAY - SPRAY ALL DAY. It’s inoffensive enough to go heavy on the trigger on a summer day BBQ type situation ... cheap enough to not care. This will be an easy reach for me when I’m not sure what else to wear

Blind bought this on sale out of curiosity. Smells nice...doesn't smell cheap. Nothing special in my untrained nose opinion. Sweet ending...nice. On my skin it becomes a skin scent pretty fast...within an hour. I would just wear around the house or casual outings to run errands. Maybe even after gym on way home because not strong. It punches above the price I paid. I bought for $12.99 so well worth the price and expectation but I'm sure there are other options. Find an inexpensive one you like.
