Paillettes

Paillettes seems to belong in the esoteric category of aldehydic fruity floral chypre-amber hybrid. A soaring and sunny opening of aldehydes, citrus and coriander is soon followed by this sweetness and tartness that makes Paillettes feel colorful and breezy. It immediately recalls the way a fine fruit-scented soap would smell. Blackcurrant is the most prominent fruit, but there are various esters and butyrates that give the impression of a fruit cocktail, especially after the aldehydes settle. This fruit cocktail, however, has these rose and violet accents to its "flavor" and it soon transforms into a flower cocktail, with a straw-like and sunny mimosa most prominent on my skin. The cheerful disposition of Paillettes soon parts the petals of its flowers and discloses a more sensuous and twilit side, with vetiver, benzoin-forward amber and a civet murmur. The concoction of Paillette, traveling through soapy and clean, fruits and bouquets, to its evocative base, could be seen as a precursor to classics such as Dior's Poison and Prescriptives Calyx, daring to move from articulated green and prototypically perfume-y to deeper explorations of fruits in perfume. That is, fruits beyond that of chypre-staple stone fruits such as plum and peach or Roudnitska melons, into the realm of mixed berries and tropical fruits.

A very Italian take on the 80s/90s fruity peach chypre. It's juicy, citrusy, & herbal in the top, quickly moving towards a powdery green drydown. I can't quite put my finger on what it reminds me of. Pailletes has a bit of everything, and yet it's not quite like anything.

Paillettes is a hazy caramel-colored floral woody. There is a very prominent benzoin note, and the most prominent flower is iris, with a hint of the Oriental spice/sweetness of carnation. Everything else is very restrained sweet powder, with a dusting of white flowers. But the lightness of it all I attribute to aldehydes, and maybe some freshness from the rose note. This is classified as a Chypre Floral, but the patchouli is not noticeable, there is no moss, no galbanum...vetiver is present but not noted here. The benzoin, sandalwood, amber and tonka make this smell like a fresher(by 80's standards), brighter Trussardi Python. In other words, smells thoroughly Oriental. This is nice, but is not really my style. I like more prominent florals, and I don't know what exactly I need in Orientals, but I guess on my skin, most ambery perfumes end up boring me, or eventually annoying me.

Ho questo del1983,un tripudio di colori,di aromi,di fiori e di sensazioni muticolor,forte,tenero,piccante,selvatico,animale,colorato... Bei tempi gli anni 80! Questo Paillettes è caldo,riscalda i sensi e l'animo,riporta indietro chi li ha vissuti a quegli anni spettacolari. meraviglioso.

This was such a nothingburger on me. Maybe it was my bottle? It had no strength and no longevity. It made me mad! I would love for it to have had the punch it had when I stuck my nose over the open bottle. But alas, it did not. I can’t even say I hate it because I can’t even smell it on me.
