Sultan Leather Attar

Stunning Attar. I think i could pick out a ensar oud attar blindfolded now. His attars are that much superior to the rest out there and you can tell he uses alot of high quality oud in this one its beautiful. Starts with a leather oud with a hint of rose, i didnt personally get any tobacco and thats good because i am not the biggest fan of tobacco. Then on the dry down the rose fades and your left with a stunning fruity jammy oud with leather still there in the background. Really top quality stuff. Performance lasted 9 hours on my skin with soft to moderate sillage, wife caught a few whiffs from me throughout the day. So very happy with this one.

Worst fragrance I’ve smelt. This was described as a bygone era... yeah the 1700s where no one had access to a shower.

Here's another personal favorite of mine. Sultan Leather Attar from Ensar Oud. It's also one of my favorite attars ever, one of my favorite Oriental blends, and one of my favorite Leather compositions. It could easily make it to several top lists for me. For those who might not know, this is the predecessor of EO1 parfum. Without the ethanol. I might be in the minority here, but I always preferred Sultan Leather Attar to EO1. The oil is deeper and more leathery, and the ones before 2019 have an even greater depth to them. Maybe because most people in the fragrance community have this "attar phobia" they shy away from them. Just don't. If you are an EO1 fan, at least get a sample of this. Going to the perfume itself. This is not complex, it doesn't change much and feels monolithic. However, the way the main notes are blended just works. This is also all-natural, using high-quality raw materials, hence, you don't need to employ many, just the right ones. In this case, rose, various ouds, and ambergris. These are the main notes that are present throughout but there might be some other small additions for complementing and fixating purposes. Overall, it feels like the most rich, luxurious, warm, Oriental leather accords that I have come across, which is built using various ouds. I'd say Chinese, Merauke, Indonesian, and Sumatran, but I know there are quite a few iterations therefore, some might differ slightly. Creating a realistic leather accord with only natural is no easy task, but here, it surpasses most. And what better way to contrast the leather than using rose? Natural smelling, velvety rose, none of the syrupy and jammy accords one might come across so often in commercial Oriental perfumes. Lastly, ambergris, to fill in the gaps. Clean, salty, sweet, with an almost resinous and musky aroma. It truly adds that extra touch to the composition. Wearing this makes you feel like a Sultan no doubt. It's opulent and lasts forever, creating this most addictive, luxurious Oriental aura around you. Truly compelling. IG:@memory.of.scents

SLA is the precursor to EO1. It’s essentially an identical fragrance however in Attar format. It’s rich, leathery, and smooth from start to finish. If the opening of EO1 pure Parfum was a bit much to handle, try out Sultan Leather Attar. The only difference between the two is that SLA takes a moment to warm up on your skin so it gently orchestrates all the notes into a beautifully dark symphony of Oud and ambergris verse the overpowering opening of the Pure Parfum version albeit a welcomed sensory overload. No matter how you look at it, Sultan Leather Attar is a masterpiece in the leather category. The price is much easier to digest especially if you get it on sale. A few drops goes an incredibly long way. If you’re completely new to this fragrance the opening is rather vintage and reminiscent of a by gone era where both men and women were tough as nails and leather filled anyone’s wardrobe. Try and imagine a beautifully rich, dark, and intensely green Rose on top of powdery notes of lavender and violet. The Oud is wild and untamed yet refined in a way that smooths out any harsh edges. The ambergris completes the show by enveloping the fragrance in a golden oceanic amber. As the scent progresses you’re left with 12 hours of beautifully rich Oud drowned in the amber like sweetness that only the real deal ambergris can provide. This is one of the best uses of leathery Oud I have ever smelled. This will last all day and then some. Performance is stunning. Give it a few moments to warm up before reapplying.

The bar for Leather! My favourite Attar and in my opinion the magnum opus of leather scent! I was late into Ensar, but i do own EO1: Assam, Siam Reap and the latest variation, Sultani. I’m in the hunt for the OG still but nothing beats the Attar. To me, the denser composition just blooms the facet of the ingredients especially the leather and oud. The scent bubble i got throughout the wear was just exquisite. One drop of Sultan Leather goes a long, long way and this Attar will take you on a beautiful and profound journey! Sadly, i’m low on this. Waiting patiently for this to be back in stock. Can’t do without this in my collection.
