What a fantastic perfume. Roman Wood was the first addition to the Essenze Collection (the second one was Javanese Patchouli), released during the 2020 pandemic and it is a true hidden gem .Not sure what is going on with the Zegna perfumes, they are so well blended and the Essenze collection is amazing but very few stores have it for sale, except for the official Zegna boutiques and a few online discounters, while the promotion is limited even through the official Zegna online accounts on social media. Roman Wood opens with a beautiful blast of pine and cypress on a sweet base of vanilla and moss. It is so well blended and it feels like such a top quality perfume. The smell remains linear for all of its longevity, which is 7 to 8 hours. Projection is quite good, it is a safe office scent, I don't think that anyone will get offended by this, if you don't overspray of course, it is quite a powerful juice. A must try and I am so happy to own this one. Solid love from me. PS. Fragrantica should FINALLY add the rest of the EDP Essenze line, they only have the discontinued 2012 EDT versions of the line on the database, which are quite different to the current EDP versions.

Amazing Smell ! I happened to be walking through Bloomingdales (here in San Diego) the day after they got this release and smelled it, and was hooked ! I am a bit of a fragrance enthusiast and have way too many already but this one was an instant love. It is an Eau de Parfum and smells extremely high quality but I do wish it lasted a little bit longer. The smell itself is a very high quality fresh mix of cypress, rosemary, pine, and with just a touch of smokiness from the moss. All in all it reminds me of a mix of VERRRRY high quality Irish Spring but with more wood and a perfect touch of bergamot and vanilla to smooth it out, and something like a sweeter and smoother version of the new Dior Homme if that helps anyone. Have already gotten compliments from a couple of younger women who are generally very picky with colognes, so that says something. Most importantly, when I spray this on and get wafts of it throughout the day, I definitely feel more confident and like I belong in the "Elite Society of Rome". Happy Sniffing !

Tried this one at the Zegna boutique in Vegas, it is by far their best latest release. The opening is a blast of luscious and refreshing bergamot. Moments later, it transitions into something green, comforting, and warm. The cypress and pine are blended perfectly so one does not supersede the other. Woods, rosemary, and moss peer in through the base adding a touch of herbalness. Vanilla is there but it’s not sweet, instead works as a texture to the likes of sandalwood. Overall, very classy, refined, and absolutely chic.

What a beautiful and fresh scent. Green and early but somehow sparkly as wll. Perfect for any occasion and season really. I was at the Zegna boutique today and I was told that this along with some others are going to be discontinued and instead something new is coming. Unfortunate, I really love Zegna scents and own a couple now. I know they are marketed for men but most are really unisex and can be worn by anyone.

Update after a few years: it is nice but i rarely wear it considering it is a bit bland/super original. Wore it today and didn t regret it though. Remember though that it is meant to be sold alongside you buying a tuxedo or a suit so for formal occasions. It is also a factor of having so many frags to chose from. Well blended, classic, classy, very masculine and somewhat original. I have no other scents like this one. Don t look for a beast mode fragrance: it is fairly faint and soft but lasts. People do smell you from afar though. Remember it is meant to be worn with a tuxedo as a signature scent.

I really like this fragrance line, amazing quality, bourbon vanilla, indonesian oud and mediterranean neroli, they are both amazing. This fragrance looks promising, I really like green fragrances, it seems that this frag will be dark green woody fragrance, worth testing.

Tries so hard to be classy that it forgot to be special. Pleasant but forgettable - unlike Rome itself, which is so often UNpleasant (gutters, grime, and gouging), but still completely unforgettable. Yes yes, OK, it is a high-class, un-vulgar, nicely nuanced general fresh-woods deal which would be appropriate and elegant for any mid-market middle-aged male, fit to take to any venue without causing embarrassment. But that's because it has so little real character. Unlike a lot of the generally very impressive Zegna line here, it just doesn't stand out. Yes, you can - vaguely - detect all those nice fresh outdoorsy things mentioned in the note pyramid, yes it's subtly woody, classy conifers all the way, yes indeed it's a little bit aromatic, a touch herbal, a tiny bit citric. It could even be unisex, for those adventurous nichey girls who like an upmarket wood scent like CDG Kyoto or similar, something generally zingy and not too rough. But yet, for all the attempt at gravitas, Zegna's treatment is just ... not making an impression here. Discretion over distinction. Perfomarnce is also very poor, and the price overambitious. NEXT PLEASE....

not breakdown should have been homerun for me, i could hardly smell this, tried 4 diff times, .0005 on performance, sometimes id get a hint of some pine but thats it, super odd

Totally agree with trabuquera below. Shockingly generic. Seems the company was trying to capture a piece of that giant average-guy-with-money market with this one.

Designer-like fresh pine and woods. A disappointing release in an otherwise solid range

Boring routine designer exercise on spicy-aromatic woods. Notes looked very promising but the result is disappointing. At most average performance on skin. For half the price one could consider buying it as some dumb-reach daily driver for colder weather but I expect more for a niche-like price tag. There are so many more interesting alternatives to it that I would recommend everyone to don't bother with Roman Wood.

I blind bought this and was really rather disappointed. For sure, it does smell nice, but it has terrible sillage and wears extremely close to the skin. It is probably one of the weakest scents I have in my collection. Very disappointing, considering Zegna's Indonesian Oud can be smelled from half a block away. There is a subtle smokiness to it - like the smokey hints you get in Amouage Interlude, but very watered down, then the pine cuts through and you're back to green coniferous hints.

Well made and very nice, albeit not strikingly original. This is a cool, earthy, damp, and green woody scent with zero spice but that is fine with me. Interestingly, I get a slight oceanic feel, as this could be a distant cousin to Tom Ford Oud Minerale. High quality, well done, fine ingredients by a top notch design house and you can't really go wrong here. Projection and longevity is between very good to above average. Thumbs up.

Great scent , just sniffed it at the mall .. has alot of vanilla going on and alot of earth.... i dont know why most reviewers say it doesnt last long.....

This is a more natural smelling version of Abercrombie’s Fierce. It’s rather enjoyable for the brief time it’s around.

Have a bottle for sale! Based in EU, but could ship almost anywhere.
