Into the Blue

The Opening of Into the Blue starts off with a scent of freshly cut grass that dominates 15 minutes of applying, Watermelon note starts steeping though but the synthitic overtones fails to deliver the picture of a fruity paradise but still bring an air of interest, Lotus know for it's delicate elegance and with it's powery watery nuance quietly drifts placidly The drydown is a confusing hodpodge of musk and peony, the note from the Peony with it's sweet and powdery smell pleasent but shy and unobtrussive Amber and Musk notes IMHO don't blend well with the grass and watermelon bring a sour tinge to In the Blue, The real showshoper has to be the botle Conjours the feeling of diving into the seas of different shades of Azure of Bali where the Ocean meets the Flawless Turqoiuse sky Suspended in time the sense of oneness and tranquillity overcomes the senses in a Zen Paradise.

The most beautiful chemical perfume I have ever smelled. Perhaps it's the nostalgia. Perhaps it's the reminder that it was one of my first perfumes that was not meant for kids. This perfume never decided whether it was created for women or men. It never intended to remind you of any natural note. It was a pure nuclear beast, the most gorgeous toilet freshener, the absolute stench neutralizer, the most immature perfume for grown-ups. And yet, it was so '00s. I can still feel it burn my nostrils. I could smell it for days after the initial spray. When I realized that it had been discontinued, I kept the last sprays so I could smell it from time to time. Alas! It went bad after a couple of years. Rest in peace, you little beast. We will keep your memory alive. We were too naive to understand how ahead of your time and, at the same time, behind the times you were.

This was my mother's signature fragrance for a long time, so I have very fond memories of ITB. It's true that it has the super-aquatic quality that seems to mark masculine fragrances now. Personally, I find it interesting that citrus/fruity=masculine... When she wore it, it smelled fresh, and it evoked the feeling of moisture and coolness. It smelled really classy and lovely on her, and it projected well and lasted for a long time. This was my first real exposure to aquatic fragrances, and it was exactly how I wanted to smell for a long time after. She still has a bottle on her dresser that I'm pretty sure she never uses, as Coco Mademoiselle is now her signature... Contemplating asking her if I can steal it :).

Escada Into The Blue was nowhere nothing compared to any of the famous floral green aquatics like Aramis New West Skinscent for her which is totally different in all the senses... Try Escada's Sorbetto Rosso if you're looking for watermelon fresh and dewy smell since New West Skinscent is so expensive and HTF! I'm glad I bought a sample of this Escada Into the Blue, but for me it's not worth the bucks for a whole bottle! Thank goodness I didn't take a big plunge into the blue! OBLIQUE Fast Forward Givenchy is a great floral green aquatic that I like more and it smells just like Into the Blue but it's also discontinued and hard to find.

Like the name implies, I am transportered to a sailboat in the Caribbean when I smell this. I'm on the boat sailing at a pretty decent speed, mind you, and not stationary or at the beach--very different feelings are invoked. I am usually not a fan of most aquatics since many of them turn to a sharp masculine smell on me. Not this one. It fades into a fresh floral musk on my skin after a few minutes. When I used to wear this regularly to work, some men always remarked how "lovely" and "fresh" it was...it's not manly on me. It lasts fairly long as well, about 4 hours on my skin.
