Rockin' Rio

Around 2006/2007, I was shopping in a department store when I came across some brightly colored Escada perfumes. I tested maybe 1 or 2 and was drawn in quickly to fruity sweet scents I had never experienced in a perfume before. However, I am cheap, so I grabbed the mini dabber set of all 5: Rockin Rio, Island Kiss, Moon Sparkle, Pacific Paradise and Sunset Heat. I don't think I paid more than ~$30ish for the set. I became smitten with the tart, fruity scents. However since I am also stingy, I rarely used them and eventually stashed them away. Moon sparkle is a little more than half full and Rockin Rio more than 3/4 full...clearly liked them the most 🤣. I believe this to be one of the best Escada summer collections ever released. If you can snag a bottle of Rockin Rio, go for it!

A lot of the seasonal Escada fragrances are similar, and this one is quite similar to Sexy Graffiti, which I also like very much. Most of these seasonal Escada scents have a fruity undertone, and this one has both the undertone and overtones! It's a fresh and lovely fragrance, like a summer picnic in the park, and lasts about as long. I wish it were a bit more lasting without getting any stronger, because the freshness is just right. The pineapple note is especially divine in this fragrance and is, in my opinion, the only thing that differentiates it from Escada Sexy Graffiti. I love the way another user described the new Escadas as "tutti-fruttis" because that really is an accurate description -- they're delicious, but definitely not a seven-course meal.

This was my frangrance was it was first released in spring 2005, I was a freshmen in college. It was one of the Escada yearly fragrance that year. Now they have recently re-released 3 of their most best selling annual fragrances a couples years ago, with Rio being one of them. It is a nice fruity-floral fragrance but not a long longeivity. It is a scent for younger women for high school girls up to college. The comments about it being similar to a Victoria Secret "Body Spray" are kind of insulting to the brand (comparing a cheap-o perfume company to luxury Escada), never-the-less the comparissions are kind of spot one, lol.

One of my faves from Escada because its full of Summer & energy. The main reason that I love it though is because it smells just like a discontinued Shampoo from the 80's called Body on Tap...I used to love smelling it when I went to my big sisters place when I was a kid. It was made to make your hair gleem because they added Beer inside the ingredients...Not that Escada Rockin Rio smells like beer or anything and neither did the Shampoo Body on Tap but it smells similar and I love them both. Such a happy Childhood memory :) I'm going to buy this one very soon :)

I have a nice memory of Rockin' Rio. My family was on a cruise to Stockholm, Sweden the year this was launched. It was advertised in the tax-free shop. My daughter was only 8 years old, and she went to test it and fell in love with this rich, sweet punch of exotic fruit. I had to buy it! It is my favorite of the Escada's summer editions. This is the ultimate fruity perfume, you cannot beat this. I do prefer more subtle and fresh scents for summer but I could buy this again for nostalgic reasons, maybe in the mid-winter just to melt the ice :)

I absolutely loved this perfume when I was 18. I sprayed it on every single day that summer. It is super fruity and fun and absolutely perfect on a hot summer day. It was the first perfume that I finished the entire bottle of because I loved it that much. I repurchased this version on Poshmark a few years ago just for the nostalgia factor and it brings me back to that summer. Definitely a fun fragrance that is definitely young but I think anyone can wear it as it’s definitely a mood booster.

This has got some punch to it! I was looking for something with a pineapple note, but got a bonus peach, papaya and mandarin. A rather fun tropical fruit smoothie to start (prompted my husband to say 'It's delicious, but isn't it intended for someone younger?' grrrr) and dries down nicely into the coconut, musk and sandalwood base. Lasted for about 8 hours on me. It will be fab in the summer..not that it isn't now

My mom had this when I was little, and I remember spraying it on myself because I was so in love with this scent. Actually, I loved it so much to the point where i still think about it today. This sweet, tropical smell never failed to comfort me. This is perfect for a hot summer day.

Not very long lasting but smells delicious! Very young, energetic vibe to it. The best way to wear this: after spending a day on the beach, take a shower and then spray this generously and go out!! It doesn't break new ground but it is pleasant for humid summer nights.

I can’t believe I found an unopened big bottle of this for very cheap. Smiling from ear to ear, this brings back memories from my teenage years. Still love it - very fruity and sweet and perfect for summer. Perhaps this 2005 fragrance is my summer scent of 2025.

i just love this scent for the very first time i smell it ;) the strong scent that longlast in my body keep up my mood.. but i stop using this because there's so many friends out there using this perfume :( i think i just want smell differently than others hehe

I really enjoy this scent. It's not my signature scent, but I love to wear it when the weather is warm, or even occasionally as a cold weather pick me up. It's a happy, uplifting scent, and I think it's appropriate for a wide range of ages.

Absolutely loved it as a teen! A generous, sweet, fun, flirty fruit salad topped with candy floss. It's the type of scent that would appeal to most boys I think... I couldn't wear this nowadays but Rockin'Rio is all good memories...

Absolutely summer fragrance. Sea, sand and sun with margarita in your hand or coconut juice. Happy, relax and vacation time. Love all fruity in this bottle especially coconut scent. It melt me down.

It is perfect for the winter. Interestingly I have a strawberry-like feeling although it is not among the components. For me it's more like a winter scent than a summer one.

Summer in one fragrance! I really love the opening, so sweet and fruity, an energising perfume, I smell the papaya and sugared pineapple! Quite good lasting too!

I had this scent in university (the original version). I remember it was super sweet and yummy. Wish I could buy it now for a reasonable price!

The year was 2006 and I was a careless 19 year old rockin’ this fragrance day and night. I bought it again for the nostalgia factor and effectively, this is a blast from the past. Although I don’t quite yearn to be a naive 19 year old again, I kinda do crave that era of the early 2000s, being in college and partying in the clubs with my friends and having that kind of fun again. As for the fragrance, it is exactly as I remember, a juicy tropical concoction that retains its citrusy core till the very end, so it doesn’t dry out vanillic or cloying on me. It's papaya, maracuya, and unidentified florals in the background. A crowd pleaser for those summer days where more is more. Not as long lasting on me this time as I remember it to be, maybe my skin chemistry changed?

This one is like a flashy guy who really impresses you at first sight, but once you get to know him, you realize that you'll never want to be more than friends with him! I got it for full-price too- I shouldn't have! It smells like candy, fruit-punch, and pina colada (galorrreee)! Like twenty bikini-clad teenage girls having a beach party or something. I did get this when I was still a teenager, so that might explain why I loved it at the time. Sillage is good and it's quite linear on me- there weren't any detectable notes/layers- it's all just one big party from start to finish! I don't hate it- it's just not one I'll keep close to my heart!

Review of the old version, one with pink/yellow bottle, as the new one has different notes. This is a fruity tropical juiciness 😍🍊🍍 bright and cheerful. Fruits is all I get, this is simple and straightforward, it's exactly what it says it is. It has really good projection and longevity for a fruitbomb, I'm curious to get my nose on new version of this to see how the scent and quality compares. But if I see this version sold somewhere, I'll definitely buy it and use as a happy summer scent.

I thought this was really good! A fresh tangy tropical without being too sweet or cheap-smelling. This was my sister’s first perfume back in the ‘05 era. She was 13, I was 15 and wearing Tommy Girl at the time, though I thought her escada always smelled bomb. I mentioned to her that she used to wear it and she looked at me blank-faced and said “Yuck.” Whatever! I liked it!!! Guess she’s moved on. She wears Tom Ford rose d’Amalfi now, haha. Maybe I get too hung up on nostalgia.

This perfume is one of my faves its very fruity! Long lasting even on my skin! My skin tends to drink up all the scent leaven nothing behind. Surprisingly it can be a little overpowering. I sprayed it on at 11:30 am it is now 5:19 pm and i can still smell it as strong as i did when i first sprayed it on. This perfume does not have layers all the fruit blend into a sugary sweet scent.

I wore this perfume for a whole summer when I was at high school, I didn't care to smell like a fruit coctail at the pool then :) It's sweet fruit punch for young ones but there's something powdery in it that makes it lovely. I remember wishing it lasted more because it was practically lost in an hour... It's a typical Escada fragrance.

A sweet fruit salad but very well balanced. I wore it in my late twenties when I was carefree and dancing all night long by the sea. Good projection and lasting power. Very fresh and summery. I really enjoyed in back then when it first came out. It was original and age appropriate.

haha this was my scent in my early tweens. i won't wear it now or even admit to having had it before but i would hide it at the back of my closet for a nostalgic sniff. it's sun in a bottle. coconuts, palms, beach, lovely sunny weather. it's very sweet but not offensive IMO.

Cute! Very similar to BBW Pink Pineapple Sunrise but way less sweet. I can't quite notice the rest of the notes besides the pineapple - perhaps the mandarin and sugar cane and that's about it. Mostly wore this to the beach and reapplied mindlessly thorought the day.

Sweet without being synthetic, what you spray is what you get. Scents of pineapple, orange, and candy linger for a few hours. Dry down is a similar scent. Very liner. Longevity is good. Great for the pool or outdoors.

Figures! The perfect long lasting summer perfume and I Really like it but It seems to be giving me a headache. Everytime I spray it I get one. It has a nice coconut to it that doesnt smell like plastic too!

Fruit fruit fruit. This is so yummy. It takes me away to the beach, sunshine and fruity cocktails. It has the scent of summer! I mostly smell pinapple, papaya and sugar cane. A sweet sweet fragrance, YUM!

This is also my college staple. It smells like fruit punch, but still fresh and not overly sweet. The longevity is poor...the scent is gone in 1 hour. I liked it. But I'm not going to purchase it again.

i used this perfume today but in oil version, received many complimentss and my boyfriend somehow said that i smelled like "victoria's secret"...hmm. anyways very sweet, fruity, and i like it... <3

What does hot and cold means in the recommendation list? Is it if a perfume smells hot and spicy or fresh and cool or is it just if the perfume is "hot for the moment"? :)

I loved this when it was out. I used to wear it often. It is a bit intense on the sweet side. But it was a fun flirty fruity scent. I wore it for years. I do so miss it.

A much better perfected version of this perfume is Lopez's Live. "Live" is much more long-lasting and has better packaging, formulation and better EVERYTHING overall.

Blast from the past, I used to wear this back in 2005. It's a pretty tropical scent, not a lot more than that but i enjoyed wearing it

So sweet and fresh but not lasting!

This smells exactly like a less sweet version of the new 2011 Taj Sunset. I prefer this one because of its hint of sour notes. However, this is still EXTREMELY sweet. like tooth-ache cavities sweet. I don't like the ridiculous price tags on these now discontinued escada perfumes, nor do I like the almost non-existent lasting power, but overall I do enjoy this perfume for its sweet summery goodness while it lasts.

Based on the notes this was supposed to be a true gourmand. But it’s not. It’s floral fruity and I don’t really like it. It’s not badly done. Very much Escada.

I just do not like it. Well, when I was 16 -17 years old it was ok... Maybe. But now... Never-never-never!!! It is disgusting, I'm sick of it. Just a story to think about. Today I was in the bus near a woman (!!!!), not even a girl wearing this perfume. Well, maybe she had a rhinitis, and could not smell her perfume correctly, but she seemed as having spayed half a bottle of "Rocking Rio". I immediately felt sick, my head was heavy and I was feeling myself like having a nausea. Sorry, but it was really awful. After I went to the subway and fainted. And what do I have now? Headache and knee scratch. Sandalwood and musk are too heavy and bitter as wormwood. Suffocating perfume like the most of Escadas are.

I stole this from my sister years ago because I liked the fruity-gourmand scent at first... but like every gourmand I've ever bought, it was wayyy to sweet for me after a while and made me feel ill. This one is another one that was cute when I was younger but now it's just another one of those sickeningly sweet scents that are all so similar and aren't memorable at all. It's like an EDP version of a body splash you could buy at the drugstore.

I was given five small bottles of escada scents. To be honest they all kind of smell the same at first. Very sweet and fruity. Escada Rockin rio was one i didn ́t like. It ́s pineaple overload and I feel as if I spilled some overly sweet drink on me. After a while I feel a bit nausuated. I will give this away!

I loved this scent in the bottle, it was ridiculously sweet and fruity and a little trashy (in a good way) - unfortunately on my skin it almost immediately turns, until it takes on this slightly off, alcoholic smell which goes for musk but is more body-odour-on-old-clothes. Shame.

opening is summer perfection but the dry down smells EXACTLY like Ralph Lauren Ralph in the blue bottle

The Papaya, is VERY dominate in this one. When i first smelt it, i was like..... This is a dupe of a Bath & Body work's scent, that i already have. So, i went through all of my B&BW lotions smelling, and found what it was. RIO RUMBERRY. They are not similar, THEY ARE THE SAME. EXACT SAME. Papaya, is the top note in Rio Rumberry too. It's funny... BOTH scents, that smell IDENTICLE, are RIO DE JENIERO themed. Is papaya like, a main export there, or something? The scent, doesn't have much lasting power. AT ALL.Overall, it is a really nice scent. PERFECT for summer. All this smell consists of, is Papaya & Sugar. Sugared Papaya. Im not sure why they listed Pineapple as one of the notes? I get NO pineapple. Or, any other note besides Papaya & Sugar. I guess... if the only two listed notes, would have been "Papaya & Sugar" It wouldn't attract too many people. Lol. It's great, i can use Rio Rumberry Shower gel, and lotion, and use this Rockin Rio perfume. To make it last longer!
