Aliage

A gorgeous classic green chypre that evokes the green, fresh outdoors. Suitable for any season, but I'm leaning toward warmer weather. The rose and nutmeg add a splash of floral spice to the citrus moss. It definitely has the Estee Lauder DNA. Will definitely add class to your wardrobe. This is a clear "love" for me, but the drydown does suck a lot of the power away. Clearly this fragrance is in the genius category, and makes you appreciate these genius parfumers for creating these gems.

Even though this formulation of Aliage is disappointing, you can still get a whiff of the bitter glory of the OG's galbanum/oakmoss juggernaut. But it fades pretty quickly into a pretty and inoffensive green floral. It cracks me up to think of Aliage as a sports scent (rich lady tennis doubles or golf MAYBE), but I will concede that it is much, much better in hot weather than most of my perfumes. Today the heat index where I live is 106 thanks to the ungodly humidity; I made the mistake of wearing a very lactonic perfume yesterday and felt like the Dumpster behind an elementary school. Aliage, much like Eau de Private Collection and Estée, makes me feel clean, but not in the contemporary clean-girl way. More like some eccentric heiress who likes to go forest-bathing in the Japanese way. I'm still hoping to track down a well-preserved vintage formulation to compare with this version of the juice. I have a feeling that the reissue in the terrible, terrible bottle (my Cinnabar atomizer broke apart in my hands before I could even use it for the first time) will still be better than its "Legacy" version, assuming they bother to continue that fruitless reboot. Update 11/5/2025: Rather than write my third review in a row, I thought I would just tack this on here. I'm liking Aliage, even in its current formulation, een more than I did before. I'm not sure if my tastes are evolving or if the juice is just maturing as intended in my refrigerator, but it was just right for this unseasonably warm day, when I'm longing for a chypre in t-shirt weather. As it dries down and the citrus and green notes are less piercing, the spices come out more, especially the nutmeg and artemisia, and the floral notes are more detectable. It reminds me of white or jasmine tea that has several squirts of fresh lemon in it, along with some fanciful leafy garnishes. It's not exactly like Elizabeth Arden Green Tea, but it has some overlap, just with more citrus zing in place of the earthier, more vegetal rhubarb. I still would like to compare this to a vintage formulation, but something tells me that old bottles of this won't hold up all that nicely, since citrus top notes tend to be the first to degrade.

Much greener and citrussier than I expected it to be--when I smelled the cap, it reminded me of Cabochard, but it's not nearly as mossy or chypresque. I like this, but I think I would need to smell the original formulation to judge it properly as the fragrance created by the estimable Bernard Chant.

Herbaceous, chypre, clean, and a little bit soapy. Vintage Aliage is greener, modern Aliage is more earthy. Completely unisex.

Ive always wanted this, in addition to Azuree. Whenever I’ve smelled them I was so amazed by how beautiful their openings were. But now that I’ve bought it I’m not too sure I like it. The opening is just as amazing as I remember it - strong sharp & tart green citrus opening, and it’s one of the best opening I’ve smelled ever! But unfortunately that opening doesn’t last long. It quickly begins to dry down and settles into this insanely bitter and almost gross oak moss... and the more time passes the grosser it gets. I think I would still wear this only for the opening, but god I cannot stand that middle and end. Be sure to fully try this one out - and take your time before purchasing it! Needless to say I have mixed feelings about this. But that opening is so beautiful that I’m tempted to say I LOVE this, but that middle and end... make it difficult to do so.

This was a blind buy. It’s hard to describe because (to me) it doesn’t really have distinguishing notes or features. Initial spray is a bit green, white floral, but mostly citrus. After about half an hour I become unaware that I even put it on, I don’t even get an occasional waft of scent as I go about my day. If I really search & sniff my arms up close, I just get a vague smell of faded top notes & maybe some faint artemisia? Surprised to see rose listed, I can’t smell any rose at all. I don’t smell very much of anything, tbh. I don’t usually have a problem, or complaints about scents being weak, but I’ve sprayed this quite heavily today. I still feel like it has very little to say, & any scent progression (on me) is non existent. Feel like it doesn’t go anywhere, & has no backbone. To sum it up I’d say this version of Aliage is a very “ho hum” boring Chypre - with terrible longevity. It reminds me of a very dilute version of Diorella. I got a recent bottle of Givenchy lll (Les Mythiques version) & imo it blows this out of the water. It’s 100 times better than this ( both in actual smell & performance). Current Miss Dior Eau Originale is also lovely & a far better choice. I think this version of Aliage is just totally underwhelming. This wasn’t exactly what I’d class as cheap, & for the money I expected better. ETA: 9/9/21 Just finished the whole bottle, that’s how weak it is. I ended up using it like a body spray, won’t ever re-buy.

I love this style of perfume and I'm so glad I went for this and azuree! It's not fashionable and to my mind smells like lentheric tweed, the vintage but I enjoy its no nonsense sensible feel! I wouldn't say its sporty or citrussy and I doubt it would work well with sweat but its enjoyable on a cool spring day for myself.

So excited to revisit Aliage after using it some years back. However - the new formula is weak, no sillage at all, lasting power about 30 minutes on me. I'm gutted. Sent it back for a refund. What have you done Estee Lauder - did you think we wouldn't notice?

Lovely, very green perfume. Light, reminds me of a walk in the woods. A classic green perfume.

Is in common shops and stores or is only exclusives places??
