Modern Muse Chic

I'm obsessed with Modern muse.it's among my top ten favorites and I've already purchased a back off bottle of it(something I rarely do,very rare) I've been looking forward to test modern muse chic for months.I couldn't accept risk of blind buy for it has very risky notes.I highly dislike oud,labdanum,strong woody notes and animalic scents.I also thought adding plum to modern muse won't be a good idea and in whole I didn't see much chance to like it.finally I found an opportunity to try it on my skin.I was surprised to see it's more than 70c/o similar to modern muse! actually when first applied I thought I'm testing original modern muse by mistake.the same adorable fresh white floral bouquet,jasmine sambac being strongest floral note,blended with best type of the musk,which is sexy and clean the same time.but soon first difference showed up.modern muse chic is less sweet.it lacks honeysuckle sweetness of it's first born sister.I believe if I wasn't so familiar with Modern muse I wouldn't detect this slight difference and I would find first half an hour of these two almost identical.but as time passes other differences become clear.modern muse chic has a woody base which make it deeper,less sweet and even more sophisticated and adds a hint of dark undertone to it's bright floral theme.in modern muse,musk and a hint of patchouli add a sensual naughtyness to Innocent florals but here there's more than just patchouli.this woodsy base makes modern muse chic dryer and give it a mysterious vibe opposed to floral innocence.I usually don't like woody scents but I like cashmere wood and I find woody base of modern muse chic pleasant and not heavily masculine But woody notes and less sweetness aren't only differences between the two sisters.This floral-woody-musky scent is wrapped in a warm,soft piece of high quality and expensive suede. Suede/leather is something I may hate in a perfume,when it smells like car tyres or when it's dirty,oily and animalic but I adore it when it appears soft and feminine.it can add unique softness,warmth and refinement and it's done right in modern muse chic All in all there's enough similarity between MM and MM chic to see them as sister perfumes.MM chic is less sweet,a little dark and mysterious,warmer,deeper,more sophisticated,more complex,more serious,formal and classy while MM is brighter,more fresh and playful,more feminine,more youthful and more sexy I love them both and I know that I need a bottle of chic flanker too.they're both wearable year round but while MM is more of a spring scent,MM chic can be great for fall.I see MM as a perfume without age limitations but I believe MM chic is better for+25,even +30 I can't detect any of oud or labdanum and I don't miss them even a bit. I also couldn't detect plum but it was my first test MM has amazing longevity on my skin.MM chic is also very long lasting and I could smell it on my skin after more than 12hours.I can't comment on it's sillage yet but I feel it would have good projection like it's sister

When I was testing Modern Muse Chic in the store the only notes I would pick were tuberose, a soft leather/suede (obviously) and jasmine. And it does have a good woody base. Lasted up to 5 hours and then became a skin scent. Moderate projection. I'm fine with any projection really as long as I'm happy with the longevity. Modern muse le rouge gloss was a terrible experience for me, and for a long time I would not come even close to Modern Muse line, but oh well, hopefully I did! Not disappointed at all! I like the drydown very much, well I love tuberose and I'm happy with jasmine too, and leather/suede is welcome if blended well. And it is blended well here. Rather linear, a seamless blend. Not too girly. Not too chic either. I see some 25 and over lady dressed in a seductive dress but at the same time very stylish, hair done in a wavy style, someone like Blake Lively and her formal yet sexy outfts. But if you are over 15 and like florals instead of foodish scents, unlike your peers, you sure can experiment with Modern Muse Chic, and I say that because the base, despite the woody notes, is not fully-developed: an untraceable patchouli, no labdanum, no vanilla, no musk, ebony wood and guaiac wood also not there for me. Cashmeran is the strongest of the wood notes. And cashmeran is lovely! And also don't be hesitant because of the animalic claim, yes it it a bit more sensual than the usual, but not unwearable. The right amount of sass for a white floral. Sometimes I swear the only thing I get is tuberose, and that the rest is there to amplify the tuberose. A rounded scent, not a screechy floral, it says "modern" after all doesn't it? A yes from me

This perfume is, in my opinion, vastly superior to the prior "Modern Muse." Modern Muse Chic is the quintessence of a woman with a masculine edge who knows how to make that masculine edge sexy and doable. When I spray on this perfume, I feel like it's putting a cherry on top of a sundae cone, because it's like the finishing touch to my wardrobe, my makeup, everything. It's like tying myself together before I step out the door. It's not a fragrance I would use at home, but it's a fragrance I would use for everything from stepping out of the door to an evening out and even to a classy cocktail party. The downside is that it is not suitable for use in hot weather. But any other kind of day and this is a signature scent, go-to fragrance. It makes me feel confident, ready to take on life, and I feel as though it balances my feminine-masculine energies. The only reason why I have not made it my signature scent yet, is because I live in a tropical climate and I need to have a scent that I can wear even on a hot and humid day. That needs to be a part of what makes my signature scent. Otherwise, it is a perfect fragrance and I believe it is attractive to both male and female, because the notes are masculine but also feminine. A woman who likes to climb trees! A tomboy in high heels! A noble woman who likes to ride wild horses in leather boots! Speaking of leather... I smell leather first thing when I spray this on (which I really like).

I picked up Modern Muse Chic after I discovered I really enjoy Modern Muse; I believe I found it in a TJ Maxx for less than typical retail price around 2015/16 or so. It's definitely similar to the original Modern Muse, with lots of jasmine and clean, white musk, but it's also less of an aquatic floral because it's so much woodier, with an appealing -- to my nose, at least -- bitter, black olive-smelling ebony woods note, especially in the opening. Jasmine just goes sooooo well with woodsy notes! I think I may also smell a little suede in there, too, but can't say I smell any oud at all, and I'm well-acquainted with the note. MM Chic is primarily warm, slightly bitter woods with lots of cool, fresh jasmine, giving it such a lovely warm/cool simple sophistication. In fact, I might actually like MM Chic just a hair more than the original, for its greater depth and complexity. But, like the original Modern Muse, MM Chic does not really make a statement; it just smells good. And, like the original, I have to overspray in order to create the kind of scent cloud I enjoy. Even overspraying, you won't blow anyone out of the water; you'll just smell like a sophisticated grown up. I love this stuff and I'll always have a bottle in my collection. <3

Never thought I would buy this as I am not a typical Estée Lauder Fan , besides their make up I don't buy much from them. ,,,As I walked by their counter I was taken by the nice smell that hovered around there and then saw the attractive display of the modern muse chic ! Hmmm a new one? I didn't particularly love the first one so I didn't expect too much from this and ,,,Wow it hit , me like a smack in the face!! Este Lauder ??? Really? This does not smell like a Este Lauder fragrance by any measurement. It's quite dark and niche quality. With notes like oud and Artemisia/vermouth it starts of spicy and plum like with a nice smell of oud present from beginning to end mixed with vanilla and patchouli, Labdanum and suede and the dark ebony wood , not your typical Main stream scent this can be compared to some niche fragrances. This is still a floral woody musk, it still has jasmine lilies and tuberose in there but it has a much darker more daring side to it. I like it, this is different. I happily bought a little 30 ml bottle and sprayed myself with theirs. Once home I still loved it and decided it was a keeper. This is nice , more original than the first, and maybe more nighttime and for the cooler days.

I received a large sample of Modern Muse Chic in a swap. I've been testing it out for 4 days and find myself craving the scent and spraying a little on the top of my hand just to smell it even when I'm wearing a different perfume for the day. I decided i need this and Just placed an order for a 3.4oz bottle. This is something i can see wearing every day. First of all... i don't get any plum, oud or patch. What i do get is a beautiful indolic Jasmine and fleshy tuberose. Suede, musk and the fleshy white florals give this an anamalitic/ dirty quality underneath the classy and sophisticated exterior. It adds depth and sexiness to the fragrace. Its not a super strong obvious anamalitic but noticeable and it's really addictive. It dries down to a woody musk. Imo this is the perfect blend of class, darkness and sexy. Does anyone else get the anamalitic notes? Sillage is an arms length and after the two hour mark sits closer to the skin but people will smell it when you are standing close to them or walking by. It wisps in the air. Longevity is between 8 to 9 hours. I think it's a great perfume.

The original Modern Muse was my first "grown up" perfume, way back before I really got in to fragrance and developed a love for skanky, animalic, niche powerhouses. However, it has remained in my perfume cabinet to this day as I do still love it. I stumbled across this flanker on here when writing my review for the original and was immediately excited by the notes so I ran off to eBay and secured a partially used bottle for a good price. A total blind buy, based only on my long standing love of the original, and the appeal of the listed notes. However, I absolutely love it. It's like a deeper, sexier, less honeysuckle more animal (and kind of inky, like fresh ink in the bottle) version of the original. I've worn it for Spring, and cooler Summer, days and am looking forward to adding it to my Autumn/Winter rotation. As with the original, it's more mainstream that my usual fragrances but it's definitely staying.

I love love love this scent and I hope it never is discontinued! It reminds me of a more complex modern version of Annick goutal's Passion and is a perfect balance of being womanly but not girly, not a lot of fruity florals and sweetness. It could be a cologne but the advantage is it would never be as sensuous on a man as a woman, still retaining a beautiful sense of mysterious deep femininity. Beautiful and very sexy, I don't think it could be more perfect! The animalistic tuberose is accented wonderfully and the base notes soften that bite making the scent earthy and deep. I have waited my entire life for this fragrance! It is put together very well, long lasting, balanced and with great silage. This is definitely not a typical Estée Lauder frag. Well done Estée!

I sprayed for the first time today and instantly thought, "this is so familiar and GOOOD!" Well, the scent memory instantly came to mind! Chic totally reminds me of one of my absolute favorite frangrances that I've had since the 2005, Pure Turquoise by Ralph Lauren. The notes they share are Lily, Patchouli and Vanilla. But that's enough for my nose to instantly fall in love. So glad I have Chic because now having them both, I'll never be without this luscious fragrance. I also have Le Rouge, Le Rouge Gloss and Eu de Rouge and while these have the rose thing going on (which I adore), there's not a hint of similarity with Chic! It's a stand alone awesome scent; much more green and lush in a different way.

if original Modern Muse is a knock off to Narciso Rodriguez - so this is mimicking Bottega Veneta. Im surprised nobody mentioned it yet. they share a lot of main notes and the feel is the same - with Lily being more pronounced in this one but otherwise undeniably similar. much better dupe than Rihannas Rogue. love this one almost more than Bottega coz slightly more feminine and frutier and sweeter and flowery with lilies..Bottega feels more unisex/cold/daytime, whereas this is sexier and juicier btw i love the Modern Muse line but they are by no means flanker - rather completely different scents in a same shaped bottle. all of them are completely different and all very beautiful

This limited edition flanker is one of my best-loved designer fragrances. It is like Modern Muse but with richer textures and more depth. The floral heart is similar between the two, but the musk, cashmere, plum, and super-mild oud notes make Chic much interesting. Whispers of deeper woods underpin the composition, but in the subtlest manner. I like the original, but this is a better version of it. It is a truly versatile fragrance, good for every season, day or night. Very good longevity and moderately strong projection. Feminine

I just bought this perfume yesterday. Actually I more preferred to buy Miracle frag by Lancome. Anyhow, the sales girl advised me to have this perfume due to strong and heavy scent like I preferred more. After I tried to smell this perfume, I really love it. I think the smell a bit similar with Dolce frag by Dolce and Gabanna. When I wearin it, I feel like I'm walking in the flower garden, full with Jasmine and tuberose. Smellin so flowery! This fragrance wearable for all occasion. Let's try! <3

Went to the mall to buy Modern Muse because I was given a sample and loved it. I sprayed both Modern Muse and Modern Muse Chic today and ten minutes later Modern Muse was gone. Without a trace on my skin. This definitely made up my mind. I love the scent, to me the two fragrances are very similar, the Modern Muse is just a little more fresh and floral. Modern Muse Chic was the right one for me. Now, six hours later I can still smell it and it smells divine. Definitely a new favorite for me.

" in Just- spring when the world is mud-luscious.......when the world is puddle-wonderful.....and bettyandisbel come dancing from hop-scotch and jump-rope and it's spring the goat-footed balloonMan whistles far and wee"-ee cummings. Such a quintessential spring fragrance! Some flowers like lily and tuberose are so season-specific that they are best appreciated from April through June. Just a little spritz in the middle of winter transports me to the first warm day in April.

As a gift I was critical of the bottle design, and niether am I an ardent fan of soliflore Tuberose nor Lily fragrances. But Modern Muse Chic combines these two white florals in elegant harmony with Jasmine so much that I like wearing it daily for work. MMC is a lovely, understated feminine fragrance great for situations when I want to wear a pretty fragrance that sits close to my skin. I feel quietly gorgeous wearing this perfume.

I loved this perfume and disappointed it has been discontinued. I love the original Modern Muse, with its elegant, crisp Jasmine and soft woods.....my signature.... Modern Muse Chic has the same crisp Jasmine but turned up the dial on the woody notes, which was perfection to me. White florals and woods 🤍🪵, my favourite combination for a timeless, elegant and sophisticated perfume. Please bring this back EL.

After two wearings: agree it is very much like the original Modern Muse. But it is a love for me, because after seeming like it might be different (more woods, more tea-like jasmine), it slips into being like the original but "amped-up." I love the original, so more of a good thing.

This one is my favorite and maybe my signature perfume, I am not sure and still I am exploring, but to this moment this is the perfume for every where that I want to smell nice and make people like me (yes I think one of the top ways is perfume).

Don't ask me what I'm smelling, I read the notes and don't recognise anything. It has the bite of dolce and gabbana light blue, something Givenchy ou demon has, and the demon the light bottle too, it's thicker. I'm lost. Help Like it though

The most delicate and feminine parfum i've ever smelled. I love using this fragance after shower, before I go to sleep, I find it so relaxing... Its smell transports me to a beautiful universe. Try it!

This is lovely! I love OG, and I could detect the fruity note on top, which must be the plum. That fruity note goes away and there is definite DNA of OG. Very nice. Too bad it’s discontinued.

If anyone knows perfumes with a similar DNA but slightly more “unisex” please lmk !🙏🏻 i love layering this with a woodier fresh scent and so sad it’s discontinued pls lmk!

this is exactly like Michael Michalsky Berlin, lily and musk are very dominant on my skin. Get Berlin, its practical the same scent and costs a quarter of this

Many vibrant, white flowers. A very similar fragrance is Avon's Today, which comes in a classy, heavy-weight, square bottle.

This is the year of the PLUM for me and I quite like this frag!!!

Right off, if you are sensitive to Iso E Super I would stay away from this. There seems to be a ton of it in Modern Muse Chic. I am disappointed in that. I really respect Lauder, and I wish that the woody notes used were a little truer to nature than they are. I understand that Suede, Cashmere Wood, Musk and "Ebony Tree" are synthetic accords, but I feel that these notes are better executed in other compositions, in Modern Muse Chic those notes just come off as 'woody' without having much personality otherwise. Meanwhile, the Oud, Patchouli, and Labdanum can be a bit more natural smelling, and they are not. I hardly detect the labdanum, and the Oud is very subdued and not too smoky or in your face. So it sounds like I don't like this perfume, I do. I like it because of the way it acts on the skin. True to Lauder form it lasts a really, really long time, over 10 hours on my skin, especially if some of it is caught on clothing. It has nice silage too, the perfect amount, enough for a bit of a trail and fragrance halo, but nothing more than that. This perfume has subtle changes over time, which I love. What really does work here are the plum notes and the white florals. The plum is rich and dark and only a little sweet, and it lasts forever. The white flowers start to peek out about an hour in, and the slowly get stronger and stronger the longer you have it on. The jasmine is smooth and only slightly dirty, the tuberose has a nice green tinge that almost makes it smell gardenia-like. Way into the drydown I can smell a bit of vanilla. These are the big players here, not the woods underneath. The woods are the backbone, and make the perfume smell kind of musky and dry, but the woods don't make up the character of the perfume. If you are sick of perfume that smells like chocolate, praline, cookies, candy, and sweet fruit & flowers, give this a sniff. It does smell elegant and tasteful, just like EL usually is. I just wish the woody notes had a little more dominance and personality.

I bought it hoping to find a variety on the Cleo theme that I recently discovered and love instantly. I saw that many said it brings with it modern muse Estée so I said I would try, also because I'm an old Estée fan and I thought it can't be a really disastrous investment. But when I entered the Muse page I realized that the cleo notes would be closer to this than the original one because the classic Muse had a lot of jasmine. Since I wasn't decided, I did what any sane person would have done, or not, I took them both blind buy 😂. I was a little scared because many said that it smell like Lovely and Narciso too and after my nose it's not really like that so I expected the package unsure of the outcome. Well honestly I don't know which one I liked the most, maybe this one though because even though I'm not a fan of oud at all that note gives it an aromatic touch, which I like it somehow reminds me of a younger, more modern interpretation of Azuree, actually I really think that this was the desired intention, and that's because even the leather note is reminiscent of the Azuree. It is definitely a perfume that goes accessorized to a power suit, it is certainly in the young feminist spirit, I can't say that I like it better than the one I was looking to replace it from time to time but it's ok, I like it. The classic version is slightly sweeter and that jasmine didn't smell much like the Egyptian jasmine from Cleo but it has that mandarin note that attracts me. If you are looking for a business perfume that will complement a sharp and strong woman this will do the work. About the Marketing image of some Modern Muse line campaigns, I only say that Estée would have died of a broken heart if she would have seen who they hire for commercials. My dear young ladies stay in schools, only the education will bring a real career and the respect for those around you, the money that comes easily flies slowly at some point.

Crisp and elegant white florals on a politely Bohemian base of musky suede and wood. The lily and tuberose are the stars of the show, and they display both springtime floral lightness, slight soapiness, and a twist of leaf-greenness. The tuberose is restrained and never goes meaty or indolic. The basenote suede is soft and buttery, with just enough warm-skin muskiness to avoid smelling sterile. The woodsiness is a bit interesting, as it is mostly an abstract woods effect with touches of saltiness, but oud can sometimes be found peeping above. I can also detect a pale brush of modernized patchouli, and oddly, a pleasant savory scent that I can't quite identify. Through the initial spray to the drydown, Chic stays classy and stylish, but occasionally meanders into more exotic tones. The white flowers soften over time, and as a whole the scent becomes warmer. I do wish I smelled more oud and maybe even the unique artemesia note, but I am still happy with Muse Chic. It's very contemporary and stylish, but still artfully uses heavier notes without letting them overcome the star florals. I like it better than Modern Muse OG and Rouge Gloss, which comes across as generic or artificial, respectively. Chic is best enjoyed on a hot day, despite how the notes might look. It has a bit of a frigid personality and benefits from warmth to help it bloom.

On me this is a richer more musky sister scent of SJP's lovely minus the magnolia note. That one disappears into nothingness on me within minutes, this one has the beautiful peppery notes but is much richer and full bodied. It also reminds me alot of Senusous, this is the woodier sister to sensuous again minus the magnolia which irritates my nose. The intial blast of this is actually quite sweet for me with the intial sweet vanilla/tuberose blast but it soon mellows out into a woody musky wonder. Don't let the pink juice inside the cutesy bottle sway you away from trying this, you would be forgiven for imagining this is another run of the mill fruit-chouli scent, but give it a try if you are a woody floral oriental fan this would probably be too overwhelming for most modern noses and is definitely more mature than it's intended audience. This is very long lasting and the woody base notes and luscious plum/honey note last right till the end of the day, but despite this it's not overly strong and is perfect for a daytime office scent on me. A great alternative to Sensuous for me less sweet/floral, more musk and the depth of patchouli with this one but I would categorise them as being in the same family. Smooth and velvety like cashmere. Draws you in for another sniff without being BAM in your face.

Chic. Ive seen this reviewed for 30s and up but my young daughter LOVES this and it quite suits her too. I think perhaps because this is a confident fragrance. She is a confident girl. That said, this frag, at a steal, has been a very positive experience. Firstly, woods are the main player through this non linear darling. To me they are indistinct, a better nose might be able to identify the kind of woods Secondly, I do see the link between the original and this but to my nose, Chic has more evolutions and has a darker story to tell. On warmer days the plum opening is airy and from the fore start to climb to the height of the scent supporting the flowers which are similar to the original MM BUT underpinning those fresh and delectable plummy flowers are smooth and powdery woods. The woods sit in the base and middle of yhe scent reminding me of a plum orchard that has been recently been ppruned back. Its important to note the floral bouquet does not triumph here. My only criticism would be that on cooler days this had a harsh opening. It quickly dissipated but it was there. In all I love it. Complimented by both males and females with this beauty.

Modern Muse Chic is clearly in the same family with original Modern Muse, but to me it's way more wearable as it's better blended. It opens with a realistic jasmine on a bed of light woods. A hint of plum rounds the scent, but it's not a sweet or fruity fragrance, it's rather dry. Over the time more notes join in. Musk and patchouli are noticeable, but subdued, while they were harsh and sharp on me in the regular MM EDP. The scent dries down to an almost skin like, creamy and feminine blend of musk, light patchouli, and soft leather with a hint of dark plum and white florals. To me MM Chic is an allrounder scent that could be worn anytime and anywhere, except on very hot summer days. It's pleasant and subtle, but not generic or boring, soft but with a darker edge.

I first felt this perfume on an american client lady and she had a small sample in her purse that she gave it to me.I held on that for almost a year searching the perfume in the shops.I didn't find it so in the end i had to buy it on line. It's the only Estèe Lauder fragrance that i like.At the first spray is very synthetic.After a few seconds white flowers emerges and a very feminine fragrance comes out.It definitely has a strong character and from my point of view it's not for under 30 yrs old women.For me it's a certain RE-buy.

The opening is definitely grown up and serious. A woman that means business. The plum developes in the drydown for me and gives me instant Bottega Venetta Eau de Velours vibes. Not an exact dupe but in the same vein. Lovely mix of deep masculine notes and the fruity and white floral notes stand out more because of them. Just like the metal grommets and faux leather ribbon in this bottle, this scent gives off a "don't f*** with me" vibe.

This is gorgeous! It’s so unfortunate that it’s discontinued and I’m just discovering it! Luckily it’s still pretty available on the secondary market albeit a bit pricey. Honestly, I still think it’s worth it! I have the original on order also so I haven’t sniffed it yet but this is so beautiful! I also think this would work beautifully in any season or any occasion so it would be a wonderful signature scent, if you’re looking!

A very soft, friendly and airy scent that fades away after just 2 hours (that's so not worth the price!). I can only detect the florals close to the skin. Nice for the office in summertime but I'm more fond of scents with a little depth. Unfortunately the lack of woody notes (which sounded so promising) makes this one too superficial for me. Only thing I really like is the weight of the bottle.

Its like modern muse but skankier. I pick up a lot more musk and patchouli, plus the suede. And a definite earthy wood smell. The sweetness of the plum really balances everything out well. To me this is a sexy scent, i see it as something to wear with a sleek black dress. I really love how this smells a little oriental but also classic musky mixed with a sweet bed of florals

a nice clean floral, my only issue with it is the dry down smells like discarded banana peel. Like after you peel a banana the banana stink that lingers on your fingers no matter how much you wash your hands or the aura around the trash you tossed the peel into. I'd be a wonderful scent if the banana wasn't there...

I like this so much more than Modern Muse. Modern Muse Chic has a beautiful woodiness to it. I think it smells as if you have layered the original Modern Muse with Cashmere Glow from Bath and Body Works. The white flowers and clean musk are still there but blended with a lovely soft, gentle cashmere woodiness.

I found Modern Muse Chic to be very heavy with tuberose. The tuberose note stood out for me more than jasmine or lily. If you love tuberose perfumes then you should love this. I’m not a big fan of tuberose so I won’t say I love it but it’s not a bad perfume... it’s a nice white floral fragrance.

I think it's quite similar to the original, just more subtle and less white flowery. It's slightly warmer and sits closer to skin. I do like it, but it disappears so quickly I'm not sure it's worth it? Need to try my sample a few more times before deciding, maybe in cooler weather it stays put?

After receiving a miniature of Modern muse (wich I love) I won on eBay Modern muse Chic on good price. I was thinking I will love it like Modern muse,but no. This one is darker and deeper,more musky. The longevity is better, but I prefer Modern muse.

This is the stronger version of the original. It's strongly white floral and oud note is also dominant. Interesting, but not my type of fragrance. A little too much. I liked the original better.

A lovely fragrance. I really like the MM line, they are all nice. I hope they dont get discontinued as I use all of them quite a bit, and they last on my skin. Very happy with it. Love it.

Sophisticated and beautiful. I just don’t know why they named it “Chic” there’s nothing chic about it. Minus the name, I like it more than the original.

Heavy on the tuberose but still very soft not like Gucci Bloom. It is dark no sparkly aldahydes not sweet. Sophisticated. Nice!

after the syrupy/fruity top opening, this, after an hour, gave me the mixture of JPG Classic + Mugler's Alien + NR's For Her..

Tried the original Modern Muse and the original version was so-so. Then tried the chic version and it made me sick

Not a common perfume, the typical fragrance for Estee Lauder. Is not one of my favorite but is an ok perfume when you want something different and kinda classy and mature. Doesn't smell cheap at all but also doesn't give me that sexy and seductive woman vibe just an mature, serious one. I think is a safe fragrance. I feel powdery woods notes in beginning and after an hour it transforms into totally white flowers.The persistence is ok but not impressive.

Nice idea in theory - a leathery white floral with plum. Kind of a mashup of other fragrances that test well. On me it turns very shrill and indolic, the jasmine and lily are like big trumpets just slightly out of tune. The equivalent is like a wannabe Instagram makeup artist who has strong contouring technique but bad blending skills.

I tried Modern Muse Chic a few years ago, liked it a little better than Modern Muse, and promptly forgot about it. I tried it again today on a whim and I really like it! It's going on my "want" list. It's definitely floral, but underneath the clean white flowers a naughty musk winks cheekily. The musk is not heavy or too skanky, but it dirties up what would otherwise be a run of the mill, pretty, innocent floral. The woods really anchor this fragrance, but it's a light wood, not heavy or masculine feeling, at all. One spray from a tester on my wrist filled up my car and I am not sensitive to scents, so you know you are getting a good deal. I am not smelling much fruit but I am perfectly okay with that. This really is a chic perfume. It reminds me of an eighties high end perfume without the stuffiness that can sometimes date those scents, if that makes any sense! (Also, not bashing 80s scents, I LOVE them but I know they are not some people's cup of tea). This is safe but not boring. I am sorry I dismissed the Modern Muse line straight out of hand.
