Modern Muse

Buckle up, this will be a long one. So I have this grandmother... No! This is not the beginning of a "matronly" diatribe! My grandmother is unrelentingly chic - more than I will ever be. She has a talent for choosing clothes/patterns/colours/smells that seem random to the uninitiated but, upon closer examination, turn out to be masterpieces of class and originality. One of the few things I have in common with this force of nature masquerading as a grandmother is a love for perfumes. We also both love white florals (although she seems to prefer creamy indolic tuberose, while I prefer green LOTV etc). Makes sense then that she frequently buys me a new scent for my birthday. This is how I discovered every single one of my favourite white floral smells. And I kind of resent her for it because, without fail, I always open the perfume package and have to hide my disappointment when I see a bottle that I have already tried and dismissed at my local perfume counter (or, even worse, havent tried but have decided against purely based on Fragrentica reviews/note profiles). Every year I think she's missed the mark but EVERY YEAR it turns out she saw (or rather smelled) something I had missed. This year, she gave me Modern Muse. And I was like: "Oh, yay, a boring floral from a house that peaked with Pleasures (just my personal view), in a pink (bleh) box and a stupid little bow. I'm pretty sure Fragenticans called this one 'Office Appropriate. What high praise..." And now I love it. And, most importantly, I disagree with almost every review here. Let me qualify that: I am most certainly not a "nose" and dont purport to be a scent savant. But I am enthusiastic and obsessed with smells, so it perturbs me when my take on a smell differs so vastly from other reviewers' takes. Let me just say it. Honeysuckle and leather. Yes, you heard me, I smell leather. And no, I'm not getting confused with the flanker Modern Muse Chic - I tried it and get no leather from it. But in Modern Muse, a smell described as a boring but well-blended floral, I smell honeysuckle with a touch of gardenia hiding the smallest hint of leather. And not the faux leather of Tom Ford or Dior's Leather Oud. You see, I wear a lot of leather. I love leather. And I collect leather smells, but (shhh, unpopular opinion alert) none of them actually smell like real leather. And yes, this perfume is well blended and inoffensive (although more unique than the word "inoffensive" makes it sound). Now I am in a bit of a quandary, because I dont want my signature scent to be a something in a pink box that people more experienced than me dismiss as mainstream! But I keep reaching for it... Damn. My grandmother wins again...

I’m in love with this fragrance. To me it smells like Chanel No 5 should’ve smelled. (Not a fan of Chanel No 5, other than its history and its image.) I’m glad I found ‚Modern Muse‘ I had different fragrances in the past, with a similar vibe, like Le Parfum by Elie Saab (The EDT version!) and Idôle by Lancôme. I wanted a sophisticated, „grown up“ scent, which was still young and sexy. The opposite of girly girl but still feminine, not tomboy. I loved Elie Saab (the EDT) , but it became too womanly for me after a while. Maybe it was my fault, bc I stored it in my bathroom, I might give this one a chance again. Same happened to me with Idôle. I smelled Idôle on a female neighbor of mine, it was gorgeous on her!! Simply gorgeous, but somehow it was too strong on me, and became much too orange-y and scratchy after a while. ‚Modern Muse‘ with the soft musk and Jasmine reminds me of Narcisso Rodriguez For Her (edt) but ‚Modern Muse‘ is fresher, cleaner, and more natural smelling than the former. ‚Modern Muse‘ smells like a rich girl that is the personification of the ‚clean girl aesthetic’ . She got old money, she’ll never wear a monogram bag or anything too loud. She’s vibrant yet chill, she’s lean and healthy. Her skin is glowy, her nails are always done but natural looking. Her hair is long and shiny. Her makeup minimal. she wears a crisp white shirt, perfectly fitting blue jeans and ridiculously expensive lingerie underneath. Everything about her is sexy, yet effortless. Her fragrance is merely the cherry on top, not the whole desert. This to me, is what ‘Modern Muse’ achieves! You don’t get a crazy silage, but anyone who comes close, knows you’re wearing something that elevates you. It doesn’t overpower who YOU are, it just makes you a bit better. I made the comparison to NR For Her bc of the jasmine and musk combo. It’s got a very similar dry down, but a completely different opening and overall vibe. NR too often than not, smells like damp laundry of a heavy smoker, combined with the sweetness of laundry detergent. It doesn’t matter, who I smell this on, this unfortunately is always the impression I get. NR’s jasmine smells artificial, while the ‚Modern Muse‘ jasmine smells like you‘re standing in a garden. It also has honeysuckle in it. When I smell honeysuckle, I think of huge, elegant mansions in the South and endless summers. The opening of ‚Modern Muse’ smells like the green of freshly cut flowers and then the Jasmine & Honeysuckle come through, and something soft and woody afterwards. To me this fragrance is perfection. It’s my personal Chanel No 5. A modern classic. It could last longer, tho. 9/10

Modern Muse is the first non-classic, post-1990 Estee Lauder fragrance that I ever enjoyed. Before that, I loved White Linen, Private Collection, and Tuscany Per Donna, while Knowing was my signature scent for 15 years after it was first released. Because I've always thought highly of Estee Lauder perfumes, I picked Modern Muse up, blind, when I found it for much less at TJ Maxx back around 2014/15. I wore the juice in that first bottle a fair amount, actually, back in the day when I only had 8 or 10 perfumes; only now, I just cracked open my second bottle that I had as a backup... Modern Muse has always been a scent that I low-key love, as opposed to "love with absolute abandon," but I do really enjoy the stuff. I'd describe it as cool, collected, put-together, a bit in the same family -- especially in the clean, fresh opening -- as aquatic florals like Elizabeth Arden 5th Avenue and Tous Gold (though it doesn't smell like those, it has a bit of the same effect). As it dries down, the jasmine + honeysuckle really comes forward -- I ADORE honeysuckle and MM has the best honeysuckle note I've ever come across in a perfume! -- along with an astringent note that sort of reminds me of tea, over a clean, white musk in the same vein as the original Tous with the silver teddy bear top. It's subtle and very well-behaved -- some might say TOO well-behaved to make much of an impression -- and very fresh and pretty. I have to positively BATHE in it, spritzing a ridiculous amount of times, to create the kind of scent cloud I enjoy. It's an understated, classy, cool, sophisticated yet easy-wearing fragrance for when you just want to smell nice and don't want to make much of a statement. I find it clings to the skin, wearing fairly close, for about 4-5 hours; this is when I spray about 6-8 sprays up and down each arm and another 6-8 on my neck & decolletage (I think that qualifies me as an oversprayer...?). But, in spite of this crazy spraying, I got no complaints, nor compliments, for that matter, from my somewhat discerning husband, so that cements my impression that Modern Muse "reads" as just clean and fresh. Clearly, I really enjoy it and will always have a place for it in my collection. Incidentally, I don't think it's that similar to any of the Narciso Rodriguez for Hers (which I also love) mostly because they have so much sweet osmanthus that give those perfumes a fruity, apricotty warmth, while Modern Muse is so resolutely cooly FLORAL.

It is March 1st and I just returned from walking my dog and collecting the trash barrels. It's 36◦ F in New England. The fragrance was definitely projecting at least arm length. When I first sprayed it on I could detect fruit. I see mandarin orange is a top note. But the fruitiness gives way to the flowers -- for me these florals remind me of spring. I know Lily of the Valley/muguets are not part of the scent profile, but that's what I pick up or I am reminded of. I see quite a few comments writing this off as "Meh, nothing special." I dunno. We or I at least live in a time where people seem to have a lot allergies or asthma etc. This fragrance is very well blended like a good smooth whiskey. It doesn't tickle the nose or elicit a sneezing or coughing reaction. This fragrance was inspired by the New York- based ballerina Misty Copeland. If you're a dancer, you probably want to minimize wearing strong or for that matter any kind of fragrance.I could see Misty Copeland wearing this once the top and middle notes have dried down. It has a pleasant and friendly quality to it. I can imagine the dancer and the choreographer working together and being envelopped by this fragrance. Not everyone wants a beast mode fragrance or a fragrance that demands attention. Sometimes you just want to smell pretty or pleasant and invite others around you to appreciate your scent. This is a good choice. It's good for everything, every occasion and priced at $40. Holy moly! Sure, there are plenty of other choices. Fine. But if you want something that is classy, well-composed, pleasant and easy to wear that suits everyone, and won't kill your purse, you won't be disappointed with Modern Muse. It smells as good if not better than J'adore by Dior (no hate on j'adore - just comparing). This is marketed as a female fragrance, but it might be an interesting choice for a man. Men like flowers too. For what this perfume is I rank it 9/10 for longevity (6hrs +/-), composition, affordability, likeability and mood enhancement. It's an easy reach.

I've had this perfume for sometime and I have just never gotten around to reviewing it. Which seems crazy to me, because I find nuances of loveliness in its breath every time I spray. Come to think of it, I don't particularly wear it often, and again, why the heck not?! There is a gentle stream of the most realistic honeysuckle babbling through each layer of this perfume. For a gal from California, fragrant honeysuckle could be found around any body of water, natural or manufactured, and always projected the clearest, sweetest nuances of crisp white floral, summer ever knew. The smell itself was radiant light, and touched some of my earliest, and best childhood memories. Jasmine is also present, with its regal stature and tender expression. This seems uncharacteristically simple for a Lauder, but I think that was an intention manifested properly. Dry down offers some woodier, musk driven chords placed surely, as a means of balance and symmetry. Without looking at the press release from 2013, I would say that Modern Muse offers us a precise experience of the entire honeysuckle plant...from the satiny petals, to the sweet nectar you can pull from the stamine to anoint your tongue...to the wooden branches, limbs, and bark...and the fertile earth containing its tender roots. I just love it! I see that it has received fairly lack-luster reviews here on Fragrantica - my home away from home - which is also slightly perplexing. Then again, when we love something, it's hard to think of any other valid perspective. This takes me back, for a moment, to a time when the sun shone brighter, and kids ran barefoot down dusty roads. Bright colors housing the world, whizzed by the periphery, carrying the most miraculous fragrances of our fleeting youth. There was such freedom found there, amongst the swimming holes, salty skin and soft blooms. All things warming under an omnipotent sun - lazy exhilaration! What nostalgia saturates my soul when I glimpse into that expansive soul, and find such bliss!

The more fragrances I test from Modern Muse line the more I am convinced that my favorite is Chic. Modern Muse, the initial release comes right after. It just has a less intense character than Chic. Maybe it's because I love florals, mostly white florals, and not only, mainly tuberose and jasmine, honeysuckle, gardenia, and I'm never saying no to a lily, the calla lily and the lily of the valley. This would sound as a headache inducing white floral fragrance. Fear not: in Modern Muse the floral heart stays true to what it states without becoming what you would name "screechy white floral" , it is therefore : "modern". And if anyone would still insist that it's "grandma perfume", well I'm sorry, but they are too damn narrow minded. After a completely indifferent opening that did remind me of acetone at times, here comes the array of all white florals: jasmine, honeysuckle, lily of the valley, lily, tuberose, gardenia(?) somewhere behind. There is also a lot of greeness holding these florals; you would call it a floral green. It could be the patchouli. There are woodsy tones as well. It does get headier as time passes, only to start fading after four hours when it will be felt only from close to skin; it will eventually fade. Reminds me of Diorissimo. Then of Tuberose Gardenia. Then of London (another underrated classic...). Can't get enough of this bottled spring. An absolutely lovely, lady-like, classic floral, beautiful and polished. Appropriate for any occasion I believe and will enhance every look. I think I might need her along with the Chic sister. As for the comparison with Chic, as I see them voted as similar scents, I would add that Chic is centered around tuberose with a suede background, which is what differentiates her from MM. They are close. But one you smell Chic you will be able to tell them apart. Also, MM is more lush while Chic is dry.

As soon as I perceived it, there is just one thing that comes to my mind; That rich girl who comes to visit the neighbourhood once in a while and that you wish she stayed longer to know her better. The one that looks like she is mature, travels a lot, knows the best things, she is sure of herself, she knows what she likes, good manners, so clean, respectful never easy to manipulate neither intimidate, nothing makes her run, she goes her way, she knows when to go home without needing the parents to be calling her from the door. And she is beautiful since she takes care of her beauty at an early age. The girl who is your age yet you have a special admiration for her, you were in the same group but never could meet. It also reminds me of the visit of a rich, down to earth and decent family who experiences life a lot and are wise! The family who is never intrusive. I perceived it when it was first launched, I was young and couldn't purchase the bottle. Then it discontinued in my country (and still is). I had to bring it to my country from abroad. I don't understand how Estee Lauder has the most lame perfumes in the country where I live and not this one. It's precious. The ingredients are so well balanced, no one fights against no one. You can tell these pair of perfumists adored the idea to work for this perfume and they had everything to make it perfect. They gave time, heart and thought. Regarding the notes, You definitely feel the jasmine, lily and tuberose, fixed by the woodie notes. The rest of the notes are so strategically added that give a very nice body. The bad thing is that I have to bath on it because the intensity is too weak. I would say is way less than my Dylan Turquoise EDT. On me it just lasts 2 hours. Cheers

Modern Muse was on my want list for 3 years and during the Christmas period I took full advantage of a promotion on a 50ml bottle and I'm glad I did! Modern Muse was always a love at first sniff for me, whenever I went into a department store or drugstore which had an Estee Lauder concession, I would always spritz myself with this. When I first sprayed it, which was the first time in almost 3 years, it was like being reunited with an old friend, it made me feel so happy and optimistic, Modern Muse is very comforting, clean (but not stripped and sterile clean), almost unisex to my nose, it reminds me of a soap Lush sell called Sultana of Soap which is just one of the best scents in the world in my opinion! Modern Muse opens up with a blast of tuberose, but not your typical punch-in-the-face tuberose, this one feels gentle, modern and creamy, the tuberose then settles and makes way for the rest of the notes; musks, some mandarin, honeysuckle, woodsy notes and vanilla, they all come at once, but it doesnt feel like an olfactive overload, its more like a symphony where all the notes blend together to create a harmonious, well blended fragrance that isnt too heavy but isnt boringly linear; its just the right balance. Longevity of Modern Muse is very good, I remember getting ready for Christmas day at 9:00 am and by 8:pm when i was getting ready to shower and put my pyjamas on, I could still smell this lingering on me, the silage is soft, its close to skin, however, for me this isnt a deal breaker. Will I repurchase in the future? definitely, its full of happy memories and its so comforting and versatile: dressed up for formal events or dressed down for casual daily wear, its never too much or too little <3

I don't actually smell jasmine with this predominantly, I actually smell orange blossom! I *can* pick up on the jasmine, but it takes some time after it dries to catch it for me. But wow...I really, really get orange blossom 😅 I think this smells like *PERFUME*! It's not at all that "modern", because it's lacking in overt fruits or vanilla that hallmark many current releases...and I'm more than fine with it. I really enjoy this and truly didn't anticipate it. It's a shamelessly floral fragrance, and on my skin personally it really sings. I played some air hockey in the mall, and as this was heating on my skin I was enveloped with such a beautiful, present, but still tastefully light white floral cloud 🥰 But then...it got even better. I kept thinking that this reminded me of Narciso Rodriguez For Her, and come to find out that is a common impression here! I'm so thrilled, even if it is redundant, because I adore For Her! It's a beautiful, snuggly sharp but crazily femme musk. I'm not sure what aromachemical produces this effect, but I'm a huge fan. I happened to wear a leather jacket today while testing this, which is also my go to while I wear For Her, it just feels right 🖤 This is lovely. I'd rate it a 10 if it had stronger patchouli in the base, but goodness, it's beautiful. Easily a 9.

I've read a lot of other reviews about how Modern Muse is boring or derivative, and this was completely how I felt at first. I bought this as a blind buy for prom in my last year of high school, and I was underwhelmed, regretted not getting the flanker, Le Rouge Gloss, which makes me think a little of Loverdose. After wearing it for a whole summer, and then looking back on it now, I think it's actually a very well-made perfume, and really hard to forget. It's fresh, floral, and absolutely not soapy or powdery. It makes you feel like you're wearing water, but without any synthetic notes. It's just nothing like similar ditzy florals, and it really has staying power in your head. I don't really know how to describe it, but it makes "white floral" into something completely different. That being said, I would disagree about this being an "office" scent. Is it inoffensive and sophisticated? Yes. Does it smell anything like a muse? No. Modern Muse is more like that really innocent underage girl you absolutely can't have sex with. It also doesn't have a lot of musk or longevity. You're lucky if you get a couple hours out of it.

A lovely white floral, much, much better than its reputation. I adore most of the Narcisos, really adore, but the original black For Her edt is the one I like the least. THIS one is what that Narciso wants to be! This one is bright and almost bubbly, which is not very common when this much jasmin is used. Its got a green pick-me-up factor coming from the lily and the mandarin. Honeysuckle keeps it from being too animalic, but there is an animalic aspect, just balanced enough so that this is work friendly. Its also grounded and not fleeting, in fact it lasts a long time on me. Its very sophisticated, smart and still friendly and soft. It's super versatile and the musk IS amped up, but not clean and fabric softener like, yet not skanky. Its less sweet than the aforementioned Narciso, less sour than Lanvin Rumeur (new version) and more distinct than Idylle- all three cousins of this one. But this one wins the competition. Mandarin softens the lily and there is not a drop too much of lily, thank you very much. Extremely classy fragrance. Dry amber and I smell no vanilla.

I got this as a gift and didnt love it at first, it just smelled like this sharp citrus and flowers and I’m not a fan of citrus scents. But then my mom and my sister wore it one day and it smelled completely different, it was clean, fresh, feminine and intimate. So I started wearing it myself and oh my god I have never gotten so many compliments before. When I give goodbye hugs my friends ALWAYS have to comment how good and clean i smell. Also after long days when I come home and change out of my clothes I can always smell the scent, so it lasts all day! There’s this citrusy yet woody note that dries down really beautifully to light flowers and musk! It’s the lightness and freshness that makes it so appropriate for every occasion. So yeah I’m done with my second bottle which makes me sad cuz the 100ml doesn’t exist in my country, I got my previous bottles from the duty free shop and I’m not planning to travel any time soon:(

Smelling Tocca Cleopatra again today has made me miss this scent quite terribly so I've purchased a very lightly used one at a good cost This scent smells of a citrus talcum powder, before slowly turning into a pleasing musk. The honeysuckle is a little stronger here than I've smelt it in other perfumes, but I enjoy that quite a bit. For people who say this is generic? Perhaps it is, but this is one of the white floral rich scents I've tried that don't overwhelm a room completely in heat. I've also compared this against a few other popular musky florals ( Narciso Rodriguez for her toilette and parfum, SJP Lovely, Tocca Cleopatra) and simply enjoy this one the best; perhaps it's slight greenness that comes with so many florals. It's professional without seeming cold. Definitely a scent to wear with a light touch to interviews and/or the first few days of work.

Modern Muse was my first ever "grown up" perfume, way back before I got really into fragrance and developed a taste for musky, skanky niche powerhouses full of amber and patchouli and spice and filth. However, despite that predilection I still do always return to this scent in Spring. It's a realistic honeysuckle, with jasmine providing an undertone, and enough musk, patchouli, and amber in the base to keep me happy. Modern Muse is sophisticated and classy, but the musk keeps it a little bit naughty. It's expensive pencil skirts and crisply ironed shirts and suit jackets, with scarlet lace underwear and stockings hidden beneath. Work appropriate, or date appropriate, but noticeable enough to make a statement rather than blending in to the background. She may be more mainstream than most of my collection, but I don't think I will ever be without her.

Oh dear... I think I may have fallen in love again. Thank God I'm not as easily swayed by men as I am by perfumes, or who knows how I'd end up!! I've teetered on the edge of liking the whole Narciso Rodriguez/Lovely/Idylle type musky-patchouli floral for a while. They always ended up being either too sweet, too sour, or too quiet for me. This one however... Oh boy. It really reminds me of those old school white florals like Fracas and Jardins de Bagatelle that just sweep you off your feet. Modern Muse is in no way old fashioned, though, not at all! It is a sleek, modern confection, with a dusky, almost autumnal feel to it. The usual brightness of Lauder's flowery perfumes has been turned down exactly halfway, and the smooth musky woods just peek in behind, like a handsome companion with his arm around your waist. Love it! My new fall fragrance!

Super pretty ultra beautiful floral She smells light she’s elegant she looks amazing and she probably lives in the countryside The patchouli is sooo subtle and not as sharp as in narciso for her edp This thing and narciso for her, comme une evidance yves rocher, lovely sjp , idylle guerlain smells almost the same but every single one of them just has there own touches Probably modern muse is the most subtle one of them Yes i get patchouli but super subtle and inoffensive With the ton of flowers and strongest one being jasmine Projection is meh i think u need to reapply 2-3 times a day An absolute love but I dont own a bottle yet so im gonna keep it at like for now and later i’ll update !

Simple but in a best way ! It has no twist in it , it's just smell like a green , natural jasmine , the jasmine is not synthetic at all , at first sniff i said to myself that this is nothing special but when you wear it give you crisp , self_confident vibe which is really nice This fragrence is about "THE VIBE" Usually heavy floral/white floral fragrences are propper for well_matured womens but this one has no limitation , every women in every age that they has can wear this IMO some comments said that this is propper for office but i think it's more than that , i see signature scent potential in modern muse Thanks estee lauder ;) never discontinue this beauty 🩵

This was a pleasant surprise. I received a mini bottle in a lot and had no idea what to expect (and didn’t check Fragrantica first) - Modern Muse is like a softer SJP Lovely, with rounder edges. The two are like sisters: Lovely is a bit more extroverted, stays out a bit longer, a bit sharper, and is lavender forward. Modern Muse is more introverted, quietly slips out of the party sooner, she’s softer and jasmine forward. Lovely is one of my top favorites... so it was no surprise that I loved this one. If I ever see a reasonably priced full bottle, I will pick it up. But until I find the right price, I’m perfectly happy with Lovely.

I love this perfume and it kinda makes me sad that so many seem to be completely underwhelmed by it. I wish I knew how to write reviews better so I could explain why I think it is wonderful. It opens with a soft, clean blend of white flowers that is bolstered by a warm honeysuckle and dries down to a warm, woodsy musk. I usually hate patchouli, but thankfully I can't detect it at all. I guess Modern Muse is considered so boring because notes like patchouli and tuberose and cleaned within an inch of their lives. But to me, all those clean scents blend beautifully together to create what is a quietly strong and uplifting fragrance.

This is one of my favourite scents of all time. I had my first bottle years ago as a gift from my mum -after I helped myself to hers on d daily basis while on holiday together- and so it always reminds me of her (not sure this sells it well lol). Now, 5 years later it has me in a chokehold once again and I feel that as a mature working woman I embody the scent and carry it much better. It has a light and simple springtime feel to it which exudes professionalism and femininity. I was lucky enough to grab a big bottle at duty free, and it has been put to use almost daily for the last few months. I cannot recommend it enough.

At first, the citrus opening completely put me off—I usually can’t stand citrus scents. So I gave the bottle to my mom. But one day, I hugged her and caught the most clean and sensual scent. It was exactly the kind of fresh, soft fragrance I’d been searching for forever. I’d tried Replica’s Bubble Bath before, but it was a disaster—harsh, synthetic, and gave me a headache. So you can imagine my surprise and curiosity when I realized this was the one. Of course, my mom refused to tell me what it was right away (she knows I end up stealing her perfumes). Long story short: I’m now on my third bottle this year.

For me this is a very seductive, "diva" perfume :) When you want to stay "clean" but in the same time very sexy and ellegant woman, choose this ! it ́s classic, very charming ...for any age after 22 :) I am a singer and performer and usually wearing this perfume during my night concerts - the best is to put it right after, mixed with my skin full of adrenaline and then going to meet my family and friends and other people who congratulate you and you just feel awesome with the cloud of this masterpiece...black dress...nacked kneck...little wind in your hair... ohhh just love it:) sexy night scent :)

I have near early used up the whole bottle. It was poetic, romantic and lovely Jasmine based perfume. It feels like a gentle, feminine yet also sophisticated girl. I would name it “ First love” but “ Modern muse” is also very apt. It has an innocent and gentle vibe to it. This is a timeless kinda scent and it would be perfect if you are a fan of jasmine as a fragrance. I would buy it again. I so think it is a likeable perfume so in my opinion it is a safe option to be bought as a presents. I would wear it to an interview or a date. I think she is easy to use and versatile.

With this perfume I can see how the tastes can change. For me this perfume is 5/5, the perfect fragrance to my nose. Maybe the only perfume which I wanna fill my lungs with when I smell. I can only detect slightly sweet and fresh honeysuckle jasmin combo and that’s it. It’s amazingly blended. So beautiful. The vibe is either a princess with velvet powder pink dress or middle aged privileged woman in nyc living far away from world problems. So clean and fresh with a mature feminine character.

We have been blessed with unseasonably warm weather this week. I have taken this opportunity to test spring/summer fragrances I got after the weather turned cold. I got this in the mini size as a gift with purchase from Estée Lauder. I could barely smell it in the cold weather. I’m trying it out today because it’s warm. What a surprisingly pretty fragrance it is! Now that I read the notes, I’m not surprised I love it. I’m looking forward to buying a full bottle when my mini runs out.

Modern Muse is a musky white floral that, on me, comes across as pleasantly “soapy.” Six hours after spraying I still smelled like I was fresh from either showering or shampooing my hair. I’d put it in the same vein as a Philosophy or a Clean brand fragrance. It’s light, simple, and effortless. The kind of fragrance you choose when you want to smell nice without doing too much. A white cotton shirt type of scent. I can’t wait to see how this will perform in the Summer.

This received potentially the highest honor of all at work today. Multiple colleagues have asked what I was wearing multiple times over this week and I offered sprays and now 2 people have taken pictures of my bottle to find their own. It's really proving its power as a office scent. It's unisex by the way. I'm a man and half of the people assume it's for men and half assume it's for women. Get yourself some if you want something easy and likable for work.

To me, Modern Muse and SJP's lovely smell very similar. Modern Muse however is a better blended fragrance and its main accords are Jasmine and musk. Its classy and suitable for any mood or occasion and sits close to the skin My own issue is it doesnt habe great longevity and l really dislike the atomizer. I might give Modern Muse Chic a try after my bottle finishes though as it is a beautiful and inoffensive perfume

What an underestimated beauty in the sea of Blah! I have re-discovered it recently having put it aside for years. On me it have so many layers that come with the hours I wear it and the warmth of my skin. I really, really sorry that when the Rouge, Chic and Nuit were still available a couple of years ago I did not buy them. I believe they are discontinued and could be found on eBay and Amazon for ridiculous prices.

Considering the notes behind this one, I expected something special. This is a floral with a patchouli base on me. An unabashed feminine one. Jasmine, honeysuckle and tuberose are prominent for the first 5 - 6 hours on me, then a musky, cozy patchouli with flowers in the background. I recommend, especially if your like classics with a twist. Not "dated" and not "trendy".

I think using Kendal Jenner as a face of this fragrance wasn’t really suitable. Don’t get me wrong, I have nothing against Kendal but youthful and playful is not what I see in the fragrance. This is something Meghan Markle’s character in suits would wear. A no-nonsense career woman. It’s good for the office, strong but not obnoxious. Lovely fragrance, poor marketing.

I would not characterize this as “modern” like the moniker implies because I think this is timeless. This is quite lovely. I like lush floral, and this fits the bill. Jasmine, honeysuckle, notes I really like. Very feminine and well formulated. Update 4/20/2023. I sprayed again today, and this is so gorgeous. I am upgrading to love. So so nice. 10 out of 10.

I smelled Modern Muse for the first time today (very late to the party - yes I know) and I was surprised by how clean it smelled. Beautiful jasmine, not to heavy but prominent, layered over white musk. The patchouli and amber rounds it well nicely with some warmth to keep it from being too high pitched. It's a beautiful formula.

Modern Muse is a lovely perfume with good lasting power...the combination of its standout notes of sparkling jasmine, hypnotic honeysuckle and airy musk is a divine olfactory symphony; singing in harmony throughout top, middle and base notes. I just want to smile and hug myself wearing this lovely perfume - an absolute joy!!

Jasmine, honeysuckle, musk, that's what I get. Extremely feminine. I don't understand the dislike for this, it makes me think of some sweet, beautiful girl walking in a field of flowers. I feel super girly (yet not in a childish way) when I wear it. Yeah it's not the most complex scent but sometimes simplicity is beautiful.

This is probably my favorite perfume to wear to interviews, assessment days , and general conferences. It has a soft,approachable energy but it is also just interesting and unique enough to stand out. It may just be that I'm a man with a love for a musky or powdery floral, but it never fails to get good results.

This may be similar to narciso Rodriguez for her edp But, I have both and I love this one more. I much prefer this one and reach for it all the time. The NR one is more serious this one is airy and easy to wear. The musk here is more toned down also. Great for everyday, running errands or work. Very versatile

I'm not good at discerning notes, but Modern Muse is a lovely sweet floral with a hint of citrus. It is not too sweet or powdery to my nose (I don't like overly sweet). Another reviewer wrote it's like honeysuckle, and I can agree with that. But it is not heavy or cloying. I could wear anytime.

Got the mini version from my uncle who shares the same passion as i do, perfumes. This is a straight white florals bouquet which i love. To me it's more to a Classic Muse instead of Modern Muse. I got tuberose, jasmine, musky and woody scents. For me personally, it's a perfect fragrance!

Opening with a light citrus, it's a bit floral and the musk and woody notes are noticeably there and keep it from being too girly. It develops into a sweet-ish, musky scent that stays for hours. This would work in an office but is also elegant enough for evening wear.

Modern Muse smells extremely beautiful, when I caught a whiff of it 5 mins after spraying, it brought back the feeling of getting an instant crush on someone as they walk by 😆 I feel like it would be hard not to feel attracted to someone wearing this.

So far I am using my 3rd or 4th bottle. I really love this perfume. Yes it is not long lasting but it's very classy. You can smell the classic Estee Lauder Pleasure. I really like the elegant Jasmine in it. My signature perfume. I will keep buying it.

On of the few fragrances I can not describe. It is heavily feminine, it sits on the skin like a warm velvet. I feel musk, amber, dark flowers. There is some herb, may be cardamom. I think I like it. Not for very young audience I am sure.

Fresh, bright and slightly musky floral. I really like it on me - I love sweet perfumes with musky base notes. My boyfriend likes this one too. I actually like all of the perfumes from this range, though they’re quite different.

When i smell it for the first time, it's reminded me of my childhood when I hugged my mom. I don't know, it's just smells like Bvlgari Blv Pour Homme drydown's (did anyone think same thing?). Very nice n calming, love it.

This oxidises/matures quite well. It originally just had a powdery orange hairspray smell I liked before it went subtle. Now it's more like a very fresh orange honey smell from the honeysuckle really getting center stage.

Beautiful jasmine/mandarin perfume. Scent of a no-nonsense business woman. Classy, serious, feminine, office friendly. No matter how many perfumes I try, I always come back to Modern Muse. It’s just so elegant.

Hopevilla - I am wearing Modern Muse today and I also smell the leather.It's faint but it is there, relatively early in the dry down. I really love this fragrance. It's perfect for transitional weather.

Yo le encuentro más parecido a "Baiser Vole" de Cartier, ambos me parecen enfocados a floral blanco muy natural y fino. Es juvenil y a la vez formal. No ponerse demasiado, porque da dolor de barriga...

A very classy combination of elegant, crisp jasmine and soft woods. My favourite combination 🤍 🪵 I adore this perfume, signature worthy, a repeat buy for me and a modern classic.
