Dark Night

This was a free gift with purchase during a sale at one of the discounters. After trying it out, I can see why they had to give it away. It's not terrible, but it's not good either. I imagine this is what fragrances bought at the dollar store smell like (it probably is). It opens with dark red fruits and tamarind which gives an earthy sweet/sourness. But that is quickly overpowered by a syrupy sweet patchouli and it drowns out all the other notes for the entirety of the wear. And it's they sickly, sweet patchouli that can turn your stomach when sprayed to heavily. That's not much of an issue here though since the performance is lacking. The performance is pretty poor. When first sprayed it smells like something that is going to stick around for a while. It smells heavy, dark and sweet with a huge dose of patchouli, a combo that is often long-lasting. It settles into a skin scent very quickly and fades away completely within a couple hours This smells like it's trying to smell like a sexy night out fragrance. But it smells to cheap and messy to be all that sexy. It smells how you feel at the end of a drunken night of bad decisions. I have never smelled Black XS, so I can't say how this compares, but if it's close, I am glad I have never blind bought Black XS. Though I have come close a couple times. The bottle is dreadful. It is cheap plastic and quite ugly. It looks like a dollar store knock-off of a DKNY NBe Delicious flanker. The atomiser is suprisingly good though. I saw Dark Night available for around $15CAD (100ml bottle) when I got mine as a gift. It's hard to find fragrances for much less than that, but I still can't really recommend this one since there are many much better options for just a little more money.

Very VERY weak smell. This reminds me of Black XS - but only in body spray strength. I am not remotely exaggerating. For a few minutes, I thought my nose was broken, but then I spritzed some Theo Fennel, and was reassured. Major breakdown averted, I have bathed in Atkinson's My Fair Lily as I am home alone and I can't upset anyone by reeking of lilium longiflorum.
