True Lust Rayon Violet De Ses Yeux

I don't get the boozy hit some people talk about. On me this is powdery rose/violet/lily of the valley, with a sweet creaminess from the coconut and a background hint of orange. No skank, no animalic notes, no leather. It's gentle and pleasant, but definitely not lustful. Abysmal longevity. I sprayed with a liberal hand, and 3h later it's down to a skin scent that I need to really press my nose to my wrist to find. As my first foray into ELDO I am disappointed by that, but the scent itself is very nice. I intend to try Putain des Palaces and Rien next so hopefully they will last longer. Edited to say: whilst it does quickly become a skin scent, it does then stick around for a long time. So, longevity is actually decent, but it just quickly loses sillage. After about 5h the scent changes and the orange becomes far more prominent. I really love it, but wish the sillage was larger.

This one was a love at first sniff. I have never smelled Putain des Palaces or Dangerous Complicity, but they are now on my list. Immediately, I get a spicy violet from this, that I find really unique, maybe it's the ginger and rum? You don't have to wait long for the full drydown...along with that violet, you have some musky leather and powdery sandalwood. I get very light hints of the coconut and other florals. I think True Lust alludes to some old-school perfumes, but it is very modern. It smells a tiny bit dirty, but in the classiest way possible. It makes me think of naughty trysts and books like The Delta of Venus. In fact, I could imagine Anais Nin wearing this. Despite all that, I find it easy to wear, maybe because I enjoy it so much. It lasts long on my skin and I love getting wafts of it througout the day/evening. This is one of my favorites...Gorgeous stuff.

This fragrance is so strange. Up close, it is a smoky, beef-jerky leather rolled around in powder makeup products. Quite kitsch. But the wearing experience and sillage is more like a sweet powdery floral with a hint of leather and a very refined, light boozy quality. The violet is not overtly violet-y; rather it creates a powdery-sweet-leather veil. This scent has grown immensely on me. I absolutely adore its composition after owning it for a few years and would repurchasing a bigger bottle if I didn't have a million other bottles in my collection (and it seems like this one has been tragically discontinued). True Lust is very beautiful and feminine but and elegant, but with a unique edginess and artistic touch I really appreciate. It smells like a woman in the fall with her well-loved Birkin and suede gloves.

The more I wear True Lust the more it becomes True Love. This is very romantic, all violets and rum in the opening, ylang ylang and osmanthus about an hour in and then settling into coconut, rice and musk to finish. The violet is there the entire journey and it is gorgeous. True Lust sits close to skin, but you don’t have to bury your nose in your arm to enjoy the fragrance. You get soft reminders of the fragrance throughout your day. It would be appropriate to wear for a variety of settings or occasions as it is not overpowering or cloying. This is a win for lovers of violet or musks.

Hard to explain. Subtle, polite, provocative. The booziness and leather, they're there but not super prominent. The rice allows it to dodge the designer vibe entirely. The osmanthus gives it a bit of a mysterious powdery touch. It's the furthest thing from a club fragrance, and yet I find myself drawing closer to my SO to get a good whiff, so mission accomplished, right? Very nice scent to just wear to the office, but also has that strong backbone that gives it just enough oomph to be interesting in a romantic setting. 8.5/10

not powdery at all due to the other notes in the top but gets powdery in the middle and base; the violet dominates but it is rich and deepened by the other notes though still a skin scent. This is not boozy. The rum just makes the violet richer. There is a creaminess due to the leather, rice and sandalwood. There are supporting florals but they do not overpower the violet. The osmanthus is there. The ylang gives it a sweetness. Very well blended and pretty. A unique take on floral.

I really like this. I was looking for a scent that I could wear to work that smelled nice but was not overpowering. I tried Putain des Palaces and felt that it was more like a natural "clean smelling skin", which I liked, but I could barely smell it on myself. I like this muuuuch better. I can definitely smell Putain de Palaces, but combined Dangerous Complicity, it just takes it up a notch or two.

I found this very much as a seductive mix of Putain des Palace and Dangerious Complicity. True Lust embodies the best of two exquisite formulations that combine explicitly seductive powers of rose, violet and powder with the implicit dangers of rum and patchouli. Wow, I like it alot 👌🏼 not a love as in Putain des Palace BUT a big like 😊

A powerful violet dominates! The parfum opens with the strong note of violet, rum and coconut feel a lot. It's semi-dark and dusty charismatic! nightclub,urban scent. The drydown is the part I prefer ... probably unisex! Sillage: 7.5/10 Longevity: 7./10 Scent: 7.5/10 Overall: 7.5 / 10

Comforting scent that stays close to my skin. It is powdery, yet creamy at the same time. I get motherly, nurturing vibes from this which totally negates the name of the fragrance. Don't feel someone will get "true lust" from this. I lean more towards "gentle love".

Fantastic - what a gem. Dusty, floral violet and a jammy/rum essence that lingers. It’s a beautiful scent - sits a little closer to the skin than I would like but it’s formal - and I don’t think I’d want this to be any more pronounced than it is. 9.5/10

To me, this is a grown-up and more androgynous rendition of the original Lolita Lempicka. They don't really smell alike, but they're both violet perfumes with that gorgeously unusual woodsy + gourmandy vibe. I love it!

ok, mostly a kind of intensive version of Putain Des Palaces pimps discretly with the good side (the sweet osmanthus) of Dangerous Complicity. I really appreciate Putain and I appreciate as much this new whore :-).

Immiediatly in love...I just don't know how to justify to myself to buy another bottle. If I hade none and was to buy a signature, it would be this. Rodriguez For Her gone naughty !

Feminine uni that's really fun to wear as a man. Exhausted my 50 ml. The only thing stalking me from replacing it is the price-to-performance ratio. Really fun fragrance.

I may have already reviewed this but I'm not sure. However, I stopped smoking almost 10 months ago, and as a result, it's as if I am trying so many of my perfumes for the first time. True Lust is an excellent example. I own PutainDP already, but I never saw that much of a similarity between the two. I've never tried Dangerous Complicity so I can't speak re that. Right off the bat, I get beautiful, tempered violets and rum. Really nice. It is quickly joined by something animalic. This is noted in the written description, but other than ambergris, the note pyramid doesn't mention anything that leans towards animalic. I suppose it COULD be from the leather and the ambergris, but whatever it is, it's creating a definite slightly worn "panties" accord that is nowhere near as awful as it sounds! It's most definitely the Lust part of the fragrance. Id go so far as to maintain that this out-putains Putain, but in the most luxurious, high class, slightly powdery elite escort way possible! It's really very pretty and naughty at the same time! Unfortunately, one thing that hasn't changed now that I no longer smoke is the performance on my skin. The longevity is only about 2 - 3 hours, and that's a stretch. Additionally, I need to really spray quite heavily to get any type of projection or silage. Still, that might to by design, as this perfume and the image it creates in my mind screams for discretion! I've moved this out more towards the front of my collection for more frequent wear and further exploration. It's not for everyone, but it's not so off the wall that it's not worth a try by the more conservative perfumista. I am really enjoying it!

I get violets, a lot of violets and then some other notes. Unfortunately, the smell disappears before I can even begin to enjoy the fragrance or even try breaking down the notes. What a shame because the initial smell is very promising. I so badly want more out of this but I just cannot get what I want, even when I have oversprayed. So frustrating! The assertive red bottle is like a perfect deception unlike the black bottle of rien intense which is a monster. Going by that, one would expect that kind of monstrosity but nope, it's dressed in deception just like the fakeness of the postmodern times that are seemingly perfection personified but inside they are without any substance, being real is just out of question. I am a new fan of the ELDO line after having encountered Une Amourette which is so fantastic! If Putain Des Palaces smells like this and allows enough time for me to enjoy it then I'd rather have that.

"True lust" doesn't smell bad, but it's a bit messy. The overall sweetness is just a bit too much. Firstly it did remind a lot of baby wipes and shampoo, the violet and osmanthus gives this syrup vibe, making it almost unbearable for the first hour. On top of the powdery leather it's a bit suffocating. It does get more calm and floral at the heart part, but it still feels more feminine and romantic than sexy and lustful as the name would suggest. I don't see this as unisex at all for this reason. I hoped for more depth and sensuallity, but got none of that. The bitterness was also expected, but never appeared. The lasting power was mediocre - around five hours, but it projected rather strongly. As with most perfumes by Etat Libre d'Orange this is a hit or miss. For me it wasn't bad, but also not something I'd aspire to wear/try again.

Sweet and powdery, with the "dust in the sun" kind of smell that some powdery fragrances have. I can smell the violet, rum, and ylang-ylang notes most distinctly. Then the sandalwood and something resinous (the ambergris maybe?). I don't smell any fruit, ginger, nor any other flowers. The leather note only shows up in the drydown, and is very subtle. I like it a lot. Sillage is only moderate, which is fine with me, I like to keep my fragrances to myself (and people I let into my personal space bubble). Longevity isn't so great, after a few hours it was just a skin scent. Overall, I think of it as a cozy scent. Not completely innocent though, there's a bit of the "True Lust" namesake there. But more in the sense of wanting to get closer rather than get busy. KWIM?

I like the opening, it's bright, sweet and powdery. However on dry down this gets sour. Perhaps it's the way the leather is expressing, animalic leathers can be a bit sour on me. Strongly feminine, in my opinion. This is a nice scent, especially at first, but not a love. It reminds me of Hiram Green's violet perfume vivacious.. but slightly sweeter, with tonka and ylang added. There an approximation of orris somewhere in this; maybe the combo of rice and ambergris. Still, lovely on a sweater. I will enjoy this as a cool weather scent. Edit: after wearing a few more times, I realize this drydown smells smells like a post-aldehyde hangover. The ylang really comes out and there’s a faded vintage smell.. with a slight tang. That’s what I’m identifying as sour.
