Etienne Aigner No 1

Aigner No. 1 is a well-mannered glow, smooth and unobtrusive, bergamot and greenery muted into pastel by a nutmeg, the gentle breeze of florals, leading to a heartbreakingly beautiful masculine accord. It is awesomely archaic compared to what passes for suave today: a lambent sandalwood blended with orris, a lean and weedy patchouli, and a musky, soft suede dry down as dreamy as a sunset through dancing reeds. It has an aura, with a halo of sweetness, distinct in its stride. The bottle I own is from the early 90s, with a scan-code on its box, and it's a sort of bliss that I doubt could be surpassed by any older round, brown bottle version that risks the disappointment of a bruised juice. Its supple salve is a relief from the spikes and coarseness of having sampled recent releases that lean so heavily on heaps of Akigalawood, Ambroxan, Ambrocenide, and the like.

This an excellent, warm masculine fragrance! It's from the 70's but still can easily be worn today, though some mind find it dated. It is a warm, soft, smooth and longlasting fragrance for cold fall/winter evening/nights! The drydown is a good mix of mainly patchouli, vanilla, oakmoss and amber which are made of mainly natural ingredients and therefor smells like niche quality! It's discontinued but I am happy I could score a 50ml splash bottle of this which I decanted! Thumbs up! Rating: 8.0/10

It's very odd that leather isn't listed in the notes above. Since leather is the main player here, for sure. Smells like your dad's old leather shoes. Included with footsweat from years of old wear & tear. Also a few dried drops of urine from dribbling on them.

I have the vintage round, brown colored bottle version. It is still have the same bottle cap design compared to the modern batch. Tested on: spray on my wallet. (I don't know, but I can't resist myself spraying vintages onto wallet.) Impression: Lipstick, and Patchouli. I'm not gonna wear this. It's strange, since the bottle cap smells beautiful. It gave me expectation of leathery, and tobacco scent. But when I'm spraying, it turns into disappointment.

This is the scent of my Ivory DB9, if I had one. In fact this is the scent of my Ivory DB9 after years of wearing Vintage Bel Ami within and I am dead and gone. It is a smoothed out, gentrified 60's Avon Leather, Musky Spicy thing. It doesn't light up, it glows a warm caramel. And yes, I'll take that Ivory one over there. The one with the Caramel leather and rubbed Mahogany dash.
