Libre d'Esprit

Être is one of my favorite local fragrance brands from Indonesia. It’s rare for me to come across an Être scent that I genuinely dislike. Their fragrances are usually very well blended, with balanced notes that feel smooth and refined. Nothing feels overly sharp or harsh to my nose. With Libre d'Esprit, I immediately thought about the Wavechild trend that gained a lot of attention in late 2025 and early 2026. After trying several dupes inspired by that DNA, I personally found many of them difficult to wear. While they often feature a fresh and juicy watermelon accord, the combination of synthetic amber and cacao can become quite cloying, especially in a hot and humid tropical climate like Indonesia. Libre d'Esprit offers a fresher alternative (Not a dupe or clone btw). The watermelon is juicy and smells natural, and the fruity character feels more complex than just watermelon alone. After checking the official note listing, I found that it indeed contains both pineapple and peach, which explains the rich fruitiness. The coconut is also quite prominent, but it never enters gourmand territory. It adds a creamy texture, supported by soft sandalwood. Still, this remains primarily a fruity fragrance. The juicy watermelon takes center stage, accompanied by pineapple and peach, while the coconut and sandalwood provide a smooth and creamy backdrop. For anyone who finds the Wavechild DNA or some of its clones too synthetic, too cloying, or simply unsuitable for hot weather, Libre d'Esprit could be a much better option. It feels fresher, cleaner, and significantly easier to wear in warm climates. That being said, the bright and uplifting fruitiness can make it feel slightly youthful or juvenile at times. Because of that, I would still describe it as a unisex fragrance with a slight feminine leaning. This is the kind of scent I would happily wear on vacation, especially near the beach. Despite containing sweeter elements such as coconut and sandalwood, it never becomes heavy or headache inducing in the heat. The watermelon, pineapple, and peach all come across as surprisingly natural and refreshing. Overall, this is a very enjoyable fragrance. Projection is good, while longevity is moderate at around five hours on my skin. If you're looking for something bright, uplifting, fresh, and centered around a prominent watermelon accord, Libre d'Esprit is definitely worth trying. 8.2/10
