Greene Street

Another great “Quarantine Perfume”, one that is easy to wear and loved by me and enjoyable for my husband—the only person within my six foot or less projection zone. My mind is continually blown with this brand. I never heard of Etro until I started reading reviews here, prompting me to purchase an inexpensive discovery set a few weeks ago. The opening is a wonderful spicy fresh oriental with a strong and dominant nutmeg. All of this sits on a soft floral bed of lush violets. Perfectly pulled together with all the other notes. A very nice sandalwood rounds out the base. What’s also remarkable is the performance. This is an EDT—like the others I have sampled—and it performs better than many EDPs. With soft projection, this is a Winter scent, but Green Street can be worn in Fall and cooler Spring days. All three Etro Perfumes that I’ve sampled I want to buy—Heliotrope, Etra and now this one, Green Street. This brand has the potential to bankrupt me. Luckily all can be purchased on the grey market for good prices.

Love it! Warm, resinous and spicy. First and foremost it is a warm scent on my skin. The labdanum, benzoin and ambre gris seem to doninate. I definitely get some kick from the nutmeg, basil and pink pepper. I find it hard to pick out the incense as it is a very well blended scent. It makes me think of an autumn walk along a rocky coastline. It's warm in the sun. I already have Ivory Route which I love. They may have similar notes but they are different. There is no sea in Ivory Route. There are no herbs or pepper. I'm equally perplexed about Let it Rock being mentioned as this is a very patchouli centered scent. I get good longevity and sillage with this very unisex scent. Etro create another winner.

This fabulous fragrance smells as if it was a mixture of two already existing, excellent male fragrances, namely "Midnight in Paris" and "Fahrenheit 32". Both of them are - just like this one (see the comments below) - often misunderstood as being "unisex", too, or even more suitable for females. This is not the case. It has definitely a male undertone. Remember, girls and ladies: Just because something is sweet, that doesn't mean it's here for you. Nevertheless, this neither means that it suits any man. I think it suits men of any age who have a sense for exclusive fashion, which is, of course, just a small fraction. All others should go for something else. *****

Etro Greene Street. Wow, do I ever love this! Such a unique fragrance.... I want to take a trip to the actual Greene Street (where ever it is) just because of this scent. I never realized that I love the smell of Nutmeg before now. It's front and center here. (Now seeking more nutmeg scents!) Greene Street is just so meltingly delicious, spicy, resin-filled, a delightful Oriental. Rather Bohemian in feel. I get a subtle powder, but not overwhelming. Now I wish I had bought the larger bottle! It could be worn by a man, but I feel it's more suited to a stylish woman. Good in both sillage and longevity. I'm anxious to try more from this house.

Oh my what a perfume. Got a sample yesterday and it's a gorgeous perfume. I feel soft violets and something sweet and a little spicy at the same time. I could also feel vanilla and there is no vanilla, well it's a wonderful fragrance. Oh one more thing, it also suits women perfectly, I am a woman and it smells divine on me if I may say so.

warm spices, just like opening a spice box... that's how it started. my favorite powdery iris and wisp of smokey incense creeps in slowly, finally leaving creamy amber. rather unique for me, i never have something like this in my collection... non intrusive, warm and lasts quite long too... this one keeps me calm...

The information sheet that accompanies the EDT informs us that this one "...suits an inquisitive man who looks for the best without ostentation...". Therefore, it is unambiguously declared by the producer as a scent for men and should be classified accordingly.

I think it is more for women and it smells as good as other ETRo fragrances. I am strongly thinking of purchasing it soon :)

I smelled this blindly and I am very pleased by the notes. The initial spritz is smoky and nutty, I see those nutmeg and incense notes mixing very well with subtle + balancing base notes for a masculine leaning fragrance. But then that dry down - so different! It smells like absolute baby powder! that violet is working overttime! sure it's pleasant nonetheless, but just be warned about the uber photorealistic baby powder. as I write I retract my "unisex" rating... this is feminine.

That's funny they called it "men's perfume". At least unisex! Maybe I'm insisting because I bought it today and never even noticed it's a men's one :) Anyway, it's really spicy on me, though in the shop it smelled more hay-type something (guess it's basil). Sweetish. I bought it for summer, but now I'm thinking I will be using it more in the autumn. Tricky one.

Yes,It's unisex! This one is a mild,sweet,balmy, and spicy fragrance. The opening is a bit green and spicy,masculine side.then turn into sweet,balmy,and powdery. The dry down becomes feminine.

This sweet creamy semi-salty herbal-spicy thing reminds me of Serge Lutens Chergui a little! Job well done! One of my top 3 from this brand

Greene Street is initially a full blast dry wood frangrance, with a soft background of floral sweetness that avoids the smokey-bitter road of incense, which is absolutely there and won't leave you, but doesn't get overpowering as it's well rounded. It is indeed intended, in the words of Etro, as an "homage to the ancient art of loom weaving", but apart from the wood of the loom, I don't really get this vibe. It is also described as luminous and delicately floral - another quote from Etro - but it's not, I am actually surprised that there's no oud listed. It becomes a bit more flowery only after many hours, when it becomes more of a skin scent. Here is the pungent sweetness of the nutmeg. At this stage, I find the frangrance well balanced with its, however dominant, woody part. Remarkable longevity and good sillage. I would like this on a man, while I won't wear it again on myself.

I bought Greene Steet because of the "similarities" with Chergui, I was very disappointed. Greene street opens very smoky, resinous, churchy - dry down very resinous, powdery, ambery scent. Not a bad scent, but too feminine and for older ages. Chergui is complex, and is a masterpiece. If you buy Greene street and hope to get "Serge Lutens Chergui" vibes, you will be dissapointed.

I agree with the other ladies, I just bought this one never even knowing it was supposed to be a men's scent... It isn't mentioned on the box, not that it would have stopped me. This scent is perfectly suitable for women. I smelled a whole lot of different perfumes yesterday and this one just jumped out. It seems to have the unique "je ne sais quoi" I'm looking for. The powdery sweetness is there, but it's not cloying to me. On the contrary. It has a slightly mysterious quality which is always good. A perfume needs to make you dream, has to have the power to transport you to other places and different times. Greene Street delivers. The name seems a bit ill chosen, it's simply the address of one of Etro's boutiques. The scent is wonderful and unique. To all the women out there, give it a try. If you like it a little bit unusual, this scent might be for you.

Lovely fragrance from this brand, it's really a pity such a wonderful scent isn't more famous because it would totally deserve a place in the sun, more than many others. It's wonderfully interesting, definitely for winter time, really spicy and quite sweet. At the same time it does manage to have an edge and it's not just your usual "sweet oriental" perfume. The opening is very peppery. I get no basil at all (no fresh note here, at least now) and loads of nutmeg. The perfume is at his best after at least a couple of minutes: the benzoin kicks in and melts with violet and a faint note of licorice. After that it gets sweeter, setting on a wonderful balsamic carpet. So lovely, so unique... it truly deserve to be worn by everyone (completely unisex to me) that loves spices and great scents.

Sweet mother of balsam! This fragrance has enough powder to make Tony Montana blush. Greene St. is obviously not in reference to color. There is nothing green to report(not even the basil). Here we have nutmeg, pink pepper, powder, more powder, then an avalanche of powder. Wearing this, I feel like a figurine inside of a snow globe. A sleeper hold of a fragrance; 100% cloying. Scary longevity; hours upon hours. I'm hooked. I guess I have to add this to my growing want list. Aaaaahhh...it just dawned on me. This smells almost identical to Robert Piguet Calypso.

herbal amber, relatively sweet, it always takes me a while to decipher this type of compositions, it takes me a while to understand what I'm smelling. it has something a little dissonant for me, but a pleasant dissonance, like a "defect" that provides charisma. I have a bottle and I use it on days when I have strange intuitions, it usually gets a lot of compliments!

Uninspired gourmond dispointment that is next to Mon Guerlain, Dior Feve Delicieuse, Miss Dior Parfum (new), Carner El Born, Olfactive Studio Indigo...

This is a lot woodier, drier/scratchy and less complex than Chergui.
