Volpe

Volpe is the name of the latest men's perfume from the Eudora brand, launched in October 2020. The concept speaks of the man who makes it happen and inspiration comes, precisely, from those who are able to question and evolve in order to achieve their goals. The name Volpe means fox, cunning (in Italian), and comes from the Latin Vulpes. The perfumer responsible for Volpe's fragrance was Hernan Figoli, from Givaudan, who was very identified with the project since he is a marathon runner and likes to exceed his limits. To compose the olfactory pyramid, he made use of notes such as Indian cardamom Orpur®, an accord of marine notes, Italian bergamot, and sage, on the top. In the central part, he combined notes of black pepper from Madagascar, Black Agar, lavandin Orpur®, Hercules Club (also known as pepperwood), cinnamon from Laos, and ginger. The base features notes of patchouli, vetiver from Haiti Orpur®, leather, and Virginian cedar. At this point, you must be wondering what this Orpur® word next to some notes means, right? I had already talked about this in other reviews, but it's worth repeating. Orpur® is part of an exclusive collection of higher quality ingredients patented by Givaudan, usually from sustainable cultivation. The collection is vast and includes cardamom, cypress, cedar, lemons, lavender, mint, etc. On the skin, Volpe behaves like a beautiful woody scent, exactly as it is classified. As soon as it is sprayed on the skin, it already brings a lot of cinnamon, as if it were there, in the output. Then, a strong and spicy smell appears and brings cardamom and black pepper, a note that has been extensively explored. And so the fragrance remains for a long time, making you forget about evolution. Subtly, a sweetness emerges and the nuance of OUD begins to exhale, at the same time that an incense facet appears. According to the perfumer himself: “vetiver is a note that is present from the head to the base notes”. However, it was not an ingredient that stood out on my skin. Volpe is not the type of fragrance for those who want to draw attention wherever they go, because there is not much projection. It is more restrained and conveys elegance, something that is seen less, every day, in the perfume industry, except in brands with this characteristic, such as Bvlgari and Cartier, for example. The lasting is good (it could be better) and the fragrance pleases. Even though being from the woody family, it does not carry any traces of the classics of yore, so if you're not a fan of the heavy, mossiest, and most striking woody fragrances, you don't have to worry about the term "woody". The bottle is beautiful and typically masculine, with a little bit of the design used by brands like Azzaro (Pour Homme line), Boss (Soul), and L’ancôme (Hypnôse).
