Bijapur

Folks tend to throw around the term, "cannabis accord." Black Afgano has always been a go-to scent for me, and it's purported to be a cannabis-forward scent, but I've always felt it smells a bit like hashish without venturing into the raw, skunky territory that a pot smoker might be used to. I enjoy Cannabis Santal and Mancera's Hindu Kush quite a bit, but in my experience, those perfumes hint at a ganja vibe without fully committing. I'd never make the connection that weed was an aspect of those scents if I hadn't been notified going in. Ganja Kasturi and King Cobra (both Prin creations) come closer, but his penchant for adding other varieties of verdant greenness to his creations keeps the balance such that marijuana exists as an aspect of the whole without being the centerpiece. To my nose, Byredo's Open Sky has the opposite issue, fully jumping the shark into smelling like a photorealistic bag of weed with almost no blending to temper the blunt force of the experience-- a scent that will fully ensure you get attacked by a police dog should you happen to encounter one. So, that one's a close-but-no-cigar situation, or maybe close-but-no-blunt, as it were. This, however, absolutely nails it. When I graduated from high school, a friend and I flew to Amsterdam to celebrate the completion of that chapter of our lives, and spent a week strolling through the tulip markets, going to concerts, and passing our free time having deep conversations while smoking good weed over cups of coffee in Amsterdam's coffee shops. Bijapur is a perfect olfactory snapshot of that experience. It's all there: an absolutely amazing cannabis accord paired with strong coffee and balanced out with florals and oud that, to me, depict the wood and ambient scents of the buildings themselves. The accuracy is uncanny. I realize the brief has nothing to do with any of those experiences, but this is one of those triggering scents that keeps me from relating the perfume to anything other than a very specific memory. Somehow, a balance is struck here in which the perfume exudes class without being the least bit office-friendly. The blending is absolutely gorgeous, but it will also absolutely divide a crowd. I love this, but if you don't enjoy the smell of marijuana, do proceed with caution. However, if you are looking for the holy grail of cannabis scents, this very likely marks the end of your journey. Not everyone's cup of tea, but an absolutely heroic release for a particular customer. You know who you are. Unisex, excellent longevity, and works great in all weather except during times of oppressive heat. And yes, eventually the cannabis does give way to florals and woods, but as soon as you spray this on, you'll understand what the main event is here.

I really like this fragrance – it feels luxurious and masterfully crafted from the very first spray. You can tell the ingredients are of high quality; everything smells natural, rich, and perfectly balanced. It opens with an unexpected mix of cannabis and saffron before unfolding into rose, coffee, and vanilla. The tobacco and oud base adds depth and warmth, making it both sophisticated and bold. An oriental, spicy, and floral composition that radiates character and craftsmanship.

This is just an amazing set!! They are both so unique and extremely well crafted. The silage is just right. I love the creaminess of Golconda with the cardamon, it is sublime. And the aromatics of Bijapur are juxtaposed with the beautiful rose perfectly. The rose in both is a lovely connection! That price is incredible -so well worth it!! Especially for the quality of ingredients, the oud alone is special. And the shipping was extremely fast and smooth! Well done gentleman!!

This fragrance is ONLY for the serious fragrance wearer. It is dark, deep and thick. Starts with a heavy hand of cannabis, tobacco and coffee. I mean like planting your nose in a planter full of the mixture. I thought I was going to hate it, so I was surprised when it shifted gears. It is one of those fragrances you need to sit tight with for 30 m to an hour. That is when the floral notes begin to develop and even out the darker bits. Ultimately and rather quickly, for the way it came on strong, it mellowed to a nice musky dry down. Thank you Dr. Raj for creating something, as you always do, unique in the world of scent!

Coffee and Cannabis Bijapur opens up with an intense dark roast coffee note that's strikingly authentic. The saffron here beautifully complement the coffee, until the cannabis accord kicks in which is very herbaceous, green, and occasionally overpowering, but undeniably present throughout. Jasmine and rose notes skillfully balance the potential unease of the cannabis, creating an elegant blend. As time passes, oud and tobacco emerge, leaving a beautiful aroma on the skin. With exceptional longevity and decent sillage, am sure Bijapur would truly shine during winter.
