Russisch Leder

My grandfather was a very brave,very decent,very proud and very just man.He fought in the frontline during WWII defending my country and leaving his newborn daughter,my mother,behind.After the war he spent many years as the co-owner of a gambling club,being a professional gambler himself.His spectrum of acquaintances varied from Prime Ministers to labourers.And he always believed that the second were way better people than the first.He lived through so many things that most of us could never meet,even if we live thrice his lifetime.And he made everything look SO easy!He passed away peacefully at the age of 98 in 2009,leaving me with hundreds of fabulous stories and adventures as his heritage.He was always my hero.Russisch Leder was his signature fragrance for nearly 30 years.The iconic white opaque glass bottle with the black disc shaped lid was always in his bathroom and the scent was always lingering in the small apartment he lived in.I always splashed myself with it each time I visited him.He always laughed with my hurry to be a grown man.I cannot be impartial about it.To me this is one of my fondliest childhood memories.Something that will make me burst in tears if I ever sense it again.This is the scent that heroes wear.The scent of a tall,handsome man that holds a straight flush in one hand and a Walther P-38 in the other.A scent of colossal proportions.

I do not follow the Fragrantica note listing in this one to be honest. Vanilla? Fern? (Fern has no smell - and by no means this one has a fougere character - the "fern-like" green category you'd associate with it). What you get is very pleasant leather - what Knize Ten dry-down smells like without all the firecrackers and in-your-face manliness you get at the initial blast of viennese aristocrat. In addition I get whiffs of fresh incense - definitely very elegant, not smoky - more like worn leather gloves left on a pew in the church. Understated version of old-style leather fragrance. Perfect gentleman smell - not sure if you can order online, but the best is to visit Farina's Cologne shop and take a tour in the fragrance museum. Maybe a bit turistic, tacky bottles, etc., but the juice is no bullshit old-school rep of olfactory leather category worth smelling and appreciating.

A pleasant, alluring masculine old-school perfume. NOT a photorealistic leather scent, that makes you smell like a new pair of leather boots, you know what I mean. It may be due to the vanilla and the musk, but this is the softest, most unisex/feminine leaning cuir de russie fragrance I've ever sampled. This is a scent for the confident mature man who doesn't need screechy aggressive ultra-masculine notes to boost his sense of identity. As a woman, I would feel very much invited to cuddle the man wearing this ❤️ I also second the incensy church vibe; it makes sense that there is a smokiness to a leather perfume, but this is not a typical harsh leather-smokiness. It's very gentle and contemplative.

Great value for the price. Bought a small bottle for me and my boyfriend after smelling it. Leans masculine, although I find the dry down VERY powdery and more feminine than the opening. Maybe it’s the musk note used. Good daytime scent for him + good night time scent for her!

this smells like a church, a rich, decorated, swirlimg gothic church. it also transports me to a mid-century airplane, the ones where the pilots wear gloves and goggles. very nice perfume.

This one really smells of old men. Or of men in the old times som 40-50 years ago. I use it when i go to my men's club - there it seems just very appropriate. I would never wear it to a dinner or party, as i only think it would impress ladies of 70+ :-D. It is an interesting, sophisticated evergreen, but no everyday-scent.

I,ve bought a small bottle of Russian Leather in Farina Maison, the oldest perfume museum in the world, Koln, Germany. It's a men's cologne, but i love the smell of it - great, chic and sofisticated leather smell... mmmm.. I keep smelling my hand when i put the scent to enjoy it. Oscar Wild was also one of the many famous clients of Russische Leder by Farina House.

Fragrantica notes are off. Not a very leather forward scent. More soft spicy aromatic with hints of lavender. At the opening I get herbal notes of lavender, sage?, basil and citrus. It is also quite aldehydic and soapy with Woody incense accords of sandalwood. I get hints of musk from castoreum. Very manly and divine

lovely and it reminds me of Grossmith Perfumes type. if i didn't know the name i would definitely think that it's one of Grossmith creations, quite powdery with citrus and light leather concept. light & soft. elegant and classy. it gives me the impression of the french revolutionary army wear.
