1561 Spleen Fever

I got this first because of its name. When I tried it, it was a no brainer. Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. Spicy, bright, somewhat green opening. It slowly develops and adds more depth as it becomes this creamy gardenia, tuberose and coconut scent with a dash of cardamom. A little indolic giving it some sharpness. Beautifully done with sophistication.

Because this perfume has so few reviews, I really hope my contribution will be helpful to those reading it. I'm not quite sure what to say about this fragrance. Certainly 1561 Spleen Fever is an interesting and unique fragrance experience. As an aside, I've been on somewhat of a white floral bender. I recently purchased a bunch of sizable samples with gardenia as a primary floral note. OMG...I really LOVE this stuff!! So, to my nose 1561 Spleen Fever is a floral-gourmand fragrance. The opening is spicy with evident cardamom (a note I love in fragrances) that is well-blended with spicy pink pepper and cloves. Lovely, slightly dirty, floral notes emerge that are gently sweetened with lactonic coconut milk. I DETEST coconut as a perfume note. But the "coconut" note in 1561 Spleen Fever is coconut milk, not coconut itself. The fragrance does wear in a smooth and creamy manner. And in the base notes, I do detect wafts of coffee beans along with woods. And while each note is distinguishable to my nose, there is a perfect harmony between a list of fragrance accords that appear discordant and chaotic. The perfume unfolds in a really lovely manner. My ONLY problem with 1561 Spleen Fever is the current COST. While I have paid upwards of $400 USD for Dries Van Noten Perfumes, I feel the DVN perfumes are worth every penny. I've owned a few Farmacia Annunziata fragrances. And I'm just not sure the perfumes from Farmacia Annunziata are worth their current asking price. Definitely not worth the price if purchased and shipped from Italy to the USA. With this said, I think Scent Split currently has 1561 Spleen Fever x 100ml for $200 plus shipping and handling. At this price, 1561 Spleen Fever is a bit more affordable for me. SNAGGED A FULL BOTTLE at a great price! Happy!

This smells like a hot summer day, having a cold drink with coniferous trees around you. With some cardamom and sweetness added in there. It’s so good, very unique cardamom fragrance that is perfect for summer. Only thing is it doesn’t last long :( sits very close to the skin as well

This is a hard one to review. It's sweet but not quite, it's white floral, yet not quite. One of my most beautiful fragrances in my collection. Upscale, subtle, hard to describe. I absolutely love it. Very sophisticated.
