Palazzo

The golden palace of FENDI. Created by François Demachy, Palazzo was launched in the summer of 2007, being the return of FENDI to perfumery, three years after when the giant LVMH decided to discontinue all the brand's perfumes. Unfortunately for fans and the perfume industry, this perfume has also been discontinued. The richness and seduction of this perfume are characteristic of its oriental floral composition, built around the orange blossom, an old flower and strongly present in Mediterranean culture, made on a sweet woody base. Its opening is fresh, succulent... citrus fruits with hints of pink pepper that bloom in an almost dry, powdery floral heart, where the african orange blossom is sweetly enriched in a chord with jasmine and roses. The tangerine note remains, bringing freshness to the composition and reducing the sweetness of other notes, contributing to the overall harmony and lightness of the perfume. The darker and smokier notes of guaiac wood, patchouli and sandalwood fill the base, giving a more serious and refined and subtly boozy woody/balsamic aspect. This palace was planned symmetrically by its perfumer, like the Roman architecture. Each note is like a column that works in balance and symmetry to support one of the best compositions I have ever felt. It has a minimalist and smooth feel, but it projects and fixes with dignity, creating an indelible mark, a merit that is given for being so well executed. Palazzo has a classic appeal, of fresh and soapy colonies, bringing an Italian Mediterranean aura, but worked with smoky/darker notes of wood. If Veronica Lake had a perfume, this would be it. A gleaming beauty, inside an intrigue, like her face in film noirs. The bottle is a separate show. The lid is oval and transparent, like a crystal... the bottle, with an artdeco air, is made of solid and heavy glass has engraving on the back, making reference to “Palazzo di Fendi”, a brand flagship store in Rome. An outstanding and modern floriental, made with a unique harmony between the elegant and the sensual. A balance between critus, floral and woody notes that could only result in a discontinued masterpiece. Palazzo is a sparkling cocktail of flowers and fruits, at a golden party in Rome.

I am not sure how to review the fragrance since it develops differently under different weather conditions... The first impression is of a fruit blast, not offensive, not intrusive, juicy sweetness. It only lasts for approx. 2 minutes and then, when I think it cannot get any more fruity than that, it suddenly changes and I can smell roses (for some reason the smell reminds me of roses growing in wild). After approx half an hour, when I put my nose to my wrist and close my eyes, the fragrance changes and all I can smell at that stage are dark cool chambers in Lincoln Cathedral. I cannot describe the feeling better than that I'm afraid and this is why I consider the fragrance a real genius amongst classy, sophisticated perfumes. The drydown is very gentle, mild, woodsy and powdery to me. Palazzo is a must have for an elegant woman who wishes to impress the others and see the heads turning.... I have an EDP and I wish the fragrance had better staying power but it may be due to me applying it very sparingly. Otherwise I might be marking territory whenever I go :-) It is a shame it has been discontinued. Dear Rose Lovers, I would say grab it while you still can :-)

Till this day, I'm still shaking my head and asking why? Why? Why?? Why did they discontinued such a beauty? I was so upset! One time I even found a bottle in my city amd wanted to buy it the next day, but the lady already sold it! I was in bad state the rest of the week. The perfume was pure glam. It opened with a very warm explosion. Very woody, floral even a bit incense like, one that I never smelled before. It turned heads, everybody wanted to know what I was wearing, my best friend got addicted to it (she's asking why as well) it was just pure genius! Excellent sillage and holds forever. The reason why Fendi discontinued it was dissapointing sales in the first quarter and they felt like it was too oldfashioned for their image. If you look to what they produced now, I would say it was a big mistake. They could have easily kept this in their collection for the sophisticated lady and keep something for the younger people as well...... Fan di Fendi was horrible. Plastic synthetic smell that gave me nothing compared to this.... I will never understand it, and still be asking WHY? Every time I think of it......

Palazzo is probably the most unique, strange and dramatic perfumes I have tried. First of all not even a single note smells as it should be on me. No citrus, no white flowers, no nothing. Its smell of... Palazzo. Of course I could admit that most prominent note that I able to detect is guiac wood and earhy gloomy patch. Otherwise it smells of realistic empty refurbished palace/building in Venice. Perfectly named! Each country has its own smell, you feel it straight from the airport, and Palazzo Fendi smells like Venice to me. Its slightly dump smell of buildings with long history. Imagine you was walking for a long time with your backpack in hot weather among narrow canal-streets and suddenly turned and came out in big open plan arched room, the walls were just painted, almost wet from whitewash, they are cold, you can hear your own footsteps echoing across the long corridor, which leads you into picture gallery with dozens of Titian-haired portraits...They look like they are talking directly to you...Ghostly presence of something otherwordly is this fragrance. Not for everyone.

I acquired Palazzo in a swap, and did not know what to expect as it was a blind swap for me and not the usual type of perfume I go for( I dislike pink pepper and patchouli and love vanilla!). Well I love it! It is such a ligtly citrusy yet feminine scent, with white florals and hints of pink pepper... The patchouli base makes it smell deep and feminine. Yes, it has some bubblegum resemblance for the first minute or so, but it is not childish at all. It smells a little bit like a more grown up, sophisticated version of Light Blue (I am not suggesting they smell similar, not at all, but to me they evoke the same feeling of smelling goodness in their top notes:) ) The dry down is a beatiful patchouli blended with flowers, that doesn't feel heavy or overly sweet. I cannot believe Fendi discontinued it, I'd better start hoarding bottles. Palazzo was for me an example of a perfume done right, that wins over even people like me who dislike every single one of its notes on paper!

This is a total Mind boggling scent. I have no idea what it reminds me of, yet it reminds me of so much. It is very Chic. Not romantic or sexual, flirty or cute, but very American Chic. This is for a strong willed and strong minded woman. I just love this and it is a shame I learned to love it so late. I tested it long ago and immediately brushed it off as "too masculine". But, I recently bought a mini for change, and now I need a full bottle of it! This smells fresh and green, slightly spicy/screechy with a citric note, and patchouli and resinous undertones (think prada amber). I imagine a late summer, early autumn party in a huge mansion in the middle of the wooded suburbs of Connecticut. Everyone is dressed to the nines, partying on the huge patio outdoors, sipping champagne and talking big talk. Wow, I need this scent in my life. Extremely Unique and Very Captivating. It just draws you in....

Blind bought a vintage just for the bottle. I remember seeing this on the shelves of a department store years ago and my eyes was always drawn to it. The bottle stuck in my memory but i remained curious cause i never smelled it for some reason🤷🏼♀️ Always just admired it from a far. Maybe i thought it looked to expensive. Then it disappeared. So when a bottle turned up for a ”bargain” (for this one) i took the chance and bought it. Just couldnt let it pass me by again. Reading all the reviews im both dreading and hopeful it will be something really special.. Edit; Oh its Stunning! So airy, ethereal and feminine. Feels like summer and ocean in a classy way. Like being on a yacht. Or in the lobby of a five star hotel near the beach with the sea breeze lingering in the air. This was really a lycky blind buy🥰

I have the edp version and thought I was not going to like this at first because it reminded me of Avon's Skin So Soft (original formula) initially. But I agree with others that as time goes on it is strangely captivating. It really is different than Avon's SSS. It is very rich, warm, comforting, even nostalgic, I think from the woodsy notes, but at the same time energetic and intense, from the peppery and fruity notes. A wonderful and very different combination! It was created to capture the spirit of Rome and I think it pulls this off very well as I do think of Rome when I was there with beautifully sunlit architecture, sipping capuccino at an quaint outdoor cafe with my husband all the while noticing an alluring mediterranean sort of aroma. Enchanting!

It still breaks my heart to think of all the (now) classics that I tossed or gave away because I didn't wear them anymore... But not this one! So happy that I still have half a bottle left! At the time of buying this, I've worn it mainly during summer vacations abroad and I can still feel the carefree vibes when I close my eyes and sniff the bottle. But tbh I don't wear it often now, it smells very sophisticated and grownup and back then I really wanted to be that but now that I am I'm not really that into it anymore, if that makes sense ;). It still has great sillage & longevity and it's a really outstanding combination of citrus (sweet ones), flowers, herbs and wood, very nicely balanced.

Getting hold of an iconic perfume like this creates great expectations. So far I'm surprized two ways. It is not really what I expected as the total perfume experience , but the drydown is Magic ! If that wouldn't have appeared this wouldn't be mine to keep... The topnotes immediatly got me thinking of the top of Estee Lauder - Adventurous . very similar top whith both sweetand sour nuances , but there the similaritys end too. I will wear this for the heart and base note with a happy heart for a great catch ! The subtle patch sandelwood and guaiac wood creates a dreamedone base. The drydown is really different from what I've tried so far. Thanks fo handing it over, my way ...

I only have a half sample of this my mother gave me, I rarely dare to test a tiny drop, but I absolutely love this. To me it smells expensive, and blonde, a cool, focused woman with money, it screams self control to me, almost haughty, but yet I love it. A perfume to wear when you need a little bit of a shield, it picks you up, straightens your back and polishes you up. It's orange blossom and patchouli but in a fairly cold way, not your biker leathers patchouli here at all! Others have mentioned Insolence which is interesting, another scent I would put on for exactly the same reason I would wear this. Yet I need to find something more similar, can anyone recommend anything?

An incredible perfume. I have to agree with so many of the reviews - Elegant and Expensive, Warm and Smoky and a bit Aloof. She is not so much floral to me as the scent of worship and sacrifice. When I wear this I feel that am entitled and doors should just open for me. It has a transforming personality. I just love it and wish I could always wear it - but that would be a common and tasteless use of such a masterpiece and I would soon feel unworthy to possess it. So I shall savour the rare moments I spend in her presence, knowing the day will come when she, like her sister Fendi, will gently disappear, leaving me with the memory of having walked with a Goddess.

I received this as a gift recently.It is the most loved gift ever!!! from the beginning there is a soft woody floral scent that forms a base for the other notes to meld with.There is sweet pink pepper dusted on a bowl of juicy oranges that maintain that smokey earthy base.Shortly it morphs into the most lush,intense jasmine vines ever. Huge deep,blood red roses drip their nectar into the tangle of jasmine. The deep woody scent of this fume keeps it grounded throughout.Patchouli gives it an even woodier scent,smoky,sexy,rich and most of all a fume with substance. Excellent sillage and lasts 8/10 hrs on me!!

Palazzo is the perfect summer scent for me because of the citrus notes which really stand out. The citrus is blended with orange flower and rose, tempered by woody notes and patchouli. I find it to be a complicated and very energizing perfume. I can't stop sniffing my wrists all day. The fragrance lasts and lasts, but you have to be careful not to spray too much. It can be strong. The bottle is beautiful. It's too bad it's been discontinued because it's one of a kind. I found my bottle from one of those on-line discount retailers and will use it until the last drop is gone.

This is superb. For a long time now, I am trying to find a new signature scent, after years of 'opium abuse' in the 80's. Although I think I will never have just one signature scent again, this one certainly deserves a big chance. Got hold of 10 little samples on the net, and am terribly in love. First impression: a bit harsh and loud, but after a couple of minutes it developes itself into a delicate yet firm, soft yet crisp, high society yet bold perfume. Big ten !!! Update 22/04/11 I am now the happy owner of a 50 ml bottle with box. Thank you, Turquoise.

This is a beautifully orchestrated symphony that only a genius could have created (thank you Mr. Demachy). I couldn't believe they discountinued it 'because it didn't meet sales expectations' ohhh the sad world we live in :( There is no other like it and Fan de Fendi (the new one) is a joke compared to this one. This perfume is luxe luxe luxe in a bottle. The smell, the bottle, the sillage, the longevity, the compliments it draws, I could go on and on .... It was definitely a masterpiece! I AM IN MOURNING!!

I got addicted to the sample I got, that's how it started. I was sniffing it a couple of times a day. It belongs to this nice kind of perfume that changes along with your mood, you can make it either heavy and seductive (my version), or lighter. On my as I said it's somewhat heavier, smoky. Whenever I think of it I imagine XIX century boudoirs, actresses preparing for the stage in the first days of theatre, men smoking cigars during the antract, baroque architecture... Very intriguing.

This is gorgeous scent. Smells expensive and stands out. Woody notes are present at the beginning. I'd personally would like to wear it in winter, because it's really warming. Luxurious woody scent it is. So demanding it requires a dress code, like black tie. Unfortunately it can cause headache, so for me it's occasions only. About champagne... nooo... it's not sour, but idea is close. Why does it have to be discontinued? I think for this reason I'll get the 3.4 oz bottle. T_T

I am head over heels with this shrine of a perfume!I have never ever come across such a distinct scent in my life! It is most definitely classy, refined and very sophisticated. It is sweet without being cloying, spicy without giving you a headache. You would never dream of wearing it every day (that would ruin the magic...)It is made for those special evenings - and I would recommend it for winter use only. Its sillage is simply amazing!

This is one very pretty, very distinctive warm floral perfume. I love it! So sweet and bubbly. Has great sillage and is very long lasting. I've been testing some fragrances this afternoon and made a little discovery. I had applied Palazzo on the back of my hand and Yves Rocher So Elixir on the inside of my elbow. They are very similar. I think So Elixir would be a great substitute for the increasingly hard-to-find and expensive Palazzo.

Palazzo has a distinct waxy characteristic to me. It starts off wonderfully smooth and citric with sweet, gentle florals peeking through. Then it smells very much to me like rose-scented candles and peppery wood, which creates a faintly smoky effect. Very smooth, very polished. The wood sort of transforms into an earthy smell that defines the base. Overall, it is understated, elegant, mature, and refined.

I just bought this beauty through ebay. It is really perfect, harmonious, charming ... My husband, who never says anything about my perfumes, said to me: "Oh my god ! please, what perfume are you wearing today ? It is delicious" ... and yes, he is right: it is luscious. Also, very long lasting and excellent sillage. I cannot understand why it is discontinued ... a shame, truly a shame :-(

Unlike many opinions here, I do not associate Palazzo with warm honey. From my side it's not warm at all, on the contrary - I feel it metallic cool, sharp, bitter. Super chic, unusual and interesting fragrance - absolutely recognizable and unlike any other. Currently I have only a small amount of it and I use it sparingly and with great pleasure :)

My signature,my love,my loss.... I could wear it day,night,summer,winter,in moments of joy,in times of sorrow.... Lasts for ever,filling my hours with happiness,brightness,elegance,joy... Few drops left in the bottle,alongside with my lamentation.... Dramatic, I know.Discontinue such masterpieces is a stupidity if not say a crime,at least!

This fragrance is so beautiful and it's such a horrible shame they chose this one in particular to discontinue. I love it so much that I use it only during winter and especial occasions, and even bought a second bottle that I have put away, for when the 1st one runs out. After the second one runs out I think I'll probably cry.

Smooth, warm honey Beautiful like Red Door, Dolce Vita or Poeme, oriental - floral, warm, sunny. Lasts 9-10 hours at least. Italian. It also describes the scent in some way. It smells warm on the skin with warm liquid honey. Floral also side by side. I would not say it's a seducer. Maybe I'm missing, more sexiness.

I find Palazzo resembling the Trussardi Fresh for women (blue bottle). The bottles could not differ more, but the notes are very much resembling. I have them both and they give me the same white blanket feeling!! :)

I must have it, it is one of the most interesting modern fragrances for me at the moment ;o) White flowers with fine tartness of fruity note, like champagne, so thin and refined, so intensive.

Got my sample of this, and of course, anything with patchouli and citrus is an automatic win for me. I am heartbroken that it is discontinued.

Refined and elegant perfume. Smells very natural of heavy sweet citrus and orange blossom. Bright, juicy and some kind of crystal light

I’ll be honest, I bought this for the cool as hell bottle. BUT — I read that this perfume was created by Annick Menardo, Thierry Wasser and Jean-Pierre Béthouart, so I was looking forward to trying it. If you can find one, there is also a matching Fendi Palazzo handag, with the buildings on it. This opens and unfolds quite loud, if a bit more intimate in the drydown. The opening is hard to take with the sour bergamot, tangerine and lemon over a woody base, combined with a punch of patchouli and this strange plasticy chemical melange. A bit floor cleaner, to be honest. But, the florals open shortly after, blooming over a warm honey glow. That strange synthetic plastic and chemical ‘something’ hangs around, and has to be waited out, as it does eventually subside somewhat, in roughly 20-40 minutes (though it is always sort of under the surface). What is left is that warm, round, syrupy glow with the orange blossom and jasmine, and the florals maintain a bit of a waxy and indolic impression. The whole concoction feels warm, and honeyed, and night blooming, like it is hanging heavy in the warm night air, but yet is light and intimate, and seductive, and it works. It feels like a nighttime scent for a formal affair, or something to warm you up on a cold day. There Is somewhat of a moderate projection to this, and it’s long lasting. It is sad that this perfume is lost to discontinuation. It is beautiful.

Hmmm, very citrus aromatic. A wellcrafted beauty that is soothing for the mind. I smell mostly citrus, woods and something sweet, perhaps tangerine? It's very low on the patch. As it dries down it becomes more dry and citrusy and I'm not sure that I'm as found of the base that I was with the heart. I like it a lot but I don't see it joining my collection, at least not in the nearest future. The projection is good but it's halflife short. After a couple of hours it doesn't radiate much, but I can smell it from my wrist for the rest of the day.

It reminds me of Insolence, not much by the notes (though they have the orange blossom note in common) but the character itself and I want it to take over when I am short of the Insolence bottle. There is the same bright independent essence, it is not for the faint-hearted, you have no choice but smell of a challenge: "catch me if you can..." The scent is provocative and gives a hint to some status as well as Insolence with all that it implies....

Clean fresh jasmine floral; has some power to it as well. Smells sophisticated and expensive too. I like it because even thou it smells clean it gives a strong statement as a perfume. Something nostalgic about this one.....growing up in Europe as a child, everyone's always dressed up when out. Pretty much you look and feel great you want to smell amazing, you wear this luscious floral. Excellent silage and quality.

Only recently have I discovered Fendi scents, much to my dissappointment that they are discontinued. First, I tried Theorema and now got my hands on Palazzo. The bottle itself is beautiful and so is the scent. It is an elegant, floral perfume. It is so warm, feminine and captivates you straight away. Even though the name is Palazzo, the scent is quite modern. Very good staying power.

Reminds me of Armani Code without the honey note--and it looks like they are both composed of similar notes. Which is better? I admit to having both in my collection. I find Code has a stronger vanilla drydown and the honey note is hit or miss with me. I think the Palazzo is a safer bet.

This is soft and elegant, with excellent staying power! I am impressed by Palazzo.... The style is elegant, balanced on stiletto pumps, a bit ostentatious, but not loud or heavy or having any strange indolic or dark and dirty notes. This radiates, not in an innocent way, but with the sexy confidence of someone who never plays the seductress. I love Palazzo EDT, and I'm waiting for a bottle of it, but for now I have this Eau de Parfum from a swap, and I find it delightfully similar to the EDT, although not nearly as sublime. I was worried about the amount of patchouli, but this is my 3rd time wearing it-on my neck-and I feel no irritation of the nose. Palazzo is rather sweet, but the sweetness is necessary to make the fluffy rich bouquet just slightly more approachable-the sweetness seems to come from the citrus notes which lift the whole composition. I love Palazzo EDT because it is so clean-smelling, fresh, with a cool woodiness-the woodiness here is very subtle-this is not a wood fragrance. This is a very floral fragrance-and the citrus notes are neither juicy nor sour. I guess I smell wood too, but the flowers stay for the ride. The pink pepper is hardly there on my skin, just an aldehyde-like lift and then it's big poofy flowers protecting me from a patchouli plant.... The model in the ad looks like Palazzo would fit her-arrogant, confident, elegant, and bitchy...But that is not me-I make Palazzo my scent, and you can make the feminine Palazzo yours, however different from (or similar to) that Fendi model you are....

I really wanted to love Palazzo. It has so many great reviews by friendly Fragranticans whose taste is similar to mine. The bottle is gorgeous. A lot of the notes I usually love are in this scent. I love Fendi's Theorema and their original "Fendi" scent, too. Alas, it wasn't meant to be. Palazzo was the first "scrubber" I've encountered in quite some time. It smells like someone dumped my beloved Theorema all over the janitor's freshly-waxed floor. Very strong smell of industrial cleaning chemicals on my skin. I could detect a faint hint of creamy floral, and I waited and waited for it to emerge from the chemical haze, but it never blossomed. I couldn't stand it anymore and had to wash it away. It appears I am in the minority here. I hope to someday smell it on the skin of someone who wears it well. It might be one I can better appreciate from afar.

I don't regret if this scent has been discontinued. I always thought Palazzo is too synthetic, too contrived (poor notes of jasmine, synthesized in a laboratory bum). A perfume cold and without heat (Ok, it has a beautiful bottle, but is it really important?- I don't think so!). I still got a full bottle of 50 ml, I can't use it. I dislike completly. Ughhh! Scent: 1* / 5***** Bottle: 5*/5*

After reading about the ingredients, I wanted to try Palazzo with impacience. And I did it, to my negative surprise. It was the smell of a washing powder factory. I don't want to be mean, but at a second try it was soap and low quality washing powder. Conclusion is evaluating perfumes on the basis of their ingredients description may be deceiving.

It is soapy on my skin but there is something underneath it that is so captivating. It's feminine and interesting is a great word for this scent...There is something clean and sexy about it that make you want to keep smelling it. I really like this one alot-I'm a fan of Fendi perfumes in general, but I find this one to be very lovely.

I got this perfume as a present. I'm wearing it only to show to make the buyer happy but I find this perfume quite average. It's too sweet for me and not floral at all... it's kind of like a slightly soapy orange juice. Because it's so orange-y I cannot detect the rose... It is very long lasting though and a bottle is nice too!

Think it was a mistake trying this in summer.Sickening. Smells so cheap and plastic on me, it gave me nausea. Overwhelmingly floral, but in a bad way. I'm no blonde, maybe that's why... Not sure if I'll try it again this winter. Hate this bold jasmin scent.
