#23 of My Fragrance Journey Ffern Summer 25 - golden light, bottled I'll be honest: I'm in love with this one. From the very first mist, it didn't feel like just perfume. It felt like stepping into a memory-the last light of a long day, when the sky turns honey-gold and you don't want the light to fade. It opens with grapefruit and blood orange, but not the sharp citrus hit you might expect. Juicy, warm, sun-soaked - the smell of fruit left out after lunch, glowing in the heat. Then something shifts. A soft warmth rises, like turmeric, and it shifts the brightness into something more human, more lived-in. That's where the marigold blooms. Not the usual flower snap. It's green, a touch earthy, a little wild. It carries a nostalgic tug, grass stains on your knees, or the scent of your hands after picking flowers you weren't supposed to. And just when it could get too earthy, white peach water slips in. Gentle. Dewy. Sweet in the quietest way. The balance is breathtaking. Fruity but not syrupy. Herbal but not sharp. Complex, yet effortless, as if it isn't trying too hard. It just is. Maybe it's the all-natural 18 ingredients, aged and bottled in Somerset. Or maybe it's the way it wears close to the skin, intimate, like a secret you keep for yourself. It lingers for hours but never shouts. It feels right, like the scent belongs to you, not the room. Summer 25 isn't just a fragrance. It's golden hour captured. The last bit of sun on your face, juice dripping down your fingers, that hush before evening starts. Beautiful, fleeting, nostalgic. I can't stop smelling it.

If you loved Clinique's Blue Sky Neroli like I did, you'll love this scent, it's quite similar. They both share citrus, rose, cardamom, vetiver/vetiver root, and neroli notes. I think this one is a bit warmer and earthier whereas BSN is more fresh/soapy, but I think if you liked one you'll like the other - which is great for me, because I LOVED BSN and was so sad when it was discontinued. Of course, this is a seasonal bottle, but I'll have to pick up a second one somehow. Personally, I really love this sent - one whiff of the sample and it was an instant hit for me. I'm a huge fan of neroli, jasmine, and vetiver, so I think this one was easy for me. It's a lovely warm scent for the season; they did a good job at capturing that feeling of a pretty, peachy sunset in a grassy field in the summer. That said, the lasting power isn't great. I sprayed on my sample at 3 pm and by 9 pm it wasn't noticeable at all. In the notes that come with the perfume I read that the founder says he likes to keep a bottle of fragrance and re-apply multiple times. Knowing that, I suppose it seems reasonable that Ffern would make scents that aren't super strong and with the idea that eventually you can re-apply and not have it be too overpowering. I think I don't necessarily mind that, because as much as I love perfume, certain ones trigger migraines, particularly strong ones that don't die down. If you prefer longevity though, you might not be as satisfied.

Initial impression : This is beautiful! It's fresh & slightly tart on opening. I can sense the citrus notes clearly. Grapefruit being the most prominent to my nose, followed by the bergamot. It has a sherbet like note which I absolutely love - it floats around gently. After about 30 mins, I can really smell the jasmine - it gives it a lovely warm, sultry, balmy skin quality. The dry down is gorgeous - warm, soft woody, spicy notes. The vetiver keeps it grounded. I'm starting to see a bit of a signature base in these perfumes and I really, really like that 👌 Absolutely does smell like the end of a hot summers day, the sun setting, lying on sun baked, slightly crunchy grass with a really tasty, zingy sorbet. It's soul food for the senses! Lasts around 6hrs but I'm happy to top up more often than that to get those fab opening notes all over again! I really love this one 👌🎊

A Mediterranean sunset, a roll in the hay on a hot summer’s day. The pink grapefruit, blood orange, warm hay and gentle jasmine really sing on my skin. My first ffern scent since I joined the ledger, and it’s a big success. It starts zesty and fresh, then turns warm and sultry. Leave the perfume to sit for a while after the initial sprays - I found on first spray the marigold came out strong, then trying it the next day that bitter note had disappeared, as the perfume morphed into a softly spiced citrus and honeyed neroli jasmine scent. The peach appears alongside an earthy vanilla in the dry down. Day 3 of wearing and I am utterly hooked, it smells like the most delicious pink grapefruit sorbet, addictive in warm weather. Scent of the summer 🌞🤩🌅

This is only my second fragrance from this line. I consider myself a reasonable connoisseur of fragrances and an avid collector with several hundred fragrances in my collection. That being said, I do believe this is a unique and beautiful fragrance. It does capture what it was meant to do which is the essence of summer an innocent and idyllic way. It opens with a very fresh jam, grapefruit, and a middle of somewhat metallic, but pleasant note the dry down is similar and long lasting. Very pleasant.

It truly is amazing how well Ffern can capture a season in scent. For Summer 25 the sun is setting but the heat has not dropped. In a field, dry and lush, the flowers, grasses, and earth hold heat from the day yet. You pluck a grapefruit, or perhaps a peach from a nearby tree and rip into the skin. All is right in the world. Summer is where Ffern truly shines.

This scent smells like Fruit Loops to me. I love it. I wish it lasted longer, though- also, after many hours, there's an animalistic smell lingering, which is confusing, but I'm willing to overlook.

The blood orange mixes with hay for a complex summertime scent. You can lightly smell peach water also. Cardamom comes into the middle, adding a kheer like nuance.

I’ve had my eye on this house for a very long time, I was excited when I finally got on the ledger. I appreciate this house’s commitment to fragrance as an art form, they take a lot of attention to create an experience around each season. Making art prints, tea blends, even short films inspired by the fragrance all while working with artists and small businesses to accomplish this. They even use pyramid-shaped tea bags which tells me they care for quality. I also have really admired their commitment to lowering waster when possible, while the ledger can be inconvenient, I understand that the purpose is for slow consumption which I appreciate, their packaging is minimal and recyclable/compostable which is lovely. Even their sample-system allows them to still ensure that every unopened full-size bottle will be used by someone who will appreciate that season. I like this season’s fragrance quite a bit, but not exactly what I was expecting from the promotional material, the turmeric note challenged me but I do like it quite a bit. It’s a very earthy, yet sharp, citrus. I was hoping to smell more peach which I just didn’t find because an initial spray only lasts about an hour on my skin. I live in a hot and humid climate so maybe that has something to do with it. I got this fragrance two weeks ago but I’ve already made a significant dent because I keep re-applying it. For a house that prioritizes slow consumption and savoring small moments, I would’ve hoped that they did more effort to ensure that the fragrance could perform longer so that the consumer could enjoy the notes and experience throughly, I have a hard time smelling the base and middle notes because it doesn’t sit on my skin long enough. While I appreciated the novelty of the ffern experience I’m reconsidering getting the fall bottle because I would like a $130-ish bottle to perform better.

I’ve written a review of this frag before and I’ve come back to say more. While I agree with everything I safe prior, I will add that I have grown quite fond of this perfume since then. I think the most beautiful and strangely underlooked part of fragrance is its ability to provide the atmosphere and soundtrack to your life. I think ffern’s seasonal model emphasizes this experience. If like me, you use this fragrance near daily through the season you might find that as the dent in your bottle grows so does your attachment to it. The fragrance is no longer an extra flair to your outfit, or a pick-me-up, but it’s the tint for the past couple months. Every outing, concert, and hike I’ve had this summer was colored by Ffern summer 25. I would almost argue that a fragrance is only as good as the memories you choose to make with it. I still have a lot of issues with the staying power of this fragrance, I spray about 2-3 full sprays on each pulse point which definitely grown my dent larger than I would like, but summer 25 has definitely made a nice soundtrack for this part of my life.

An oaken table is littered with spices, roots, and flowers. Homemade tea is mixed by the sink. Neroli and citrus, carried on the wind, come through an open window. The simmering sun sets peacefully. This is surprisingly spicy for a summer fragrance. The expected citruses are present, but they are comparatively subtle. Turmeric, nutmeg, and cardamom are far more pronounced than the fresh notes usually associated with summer fragrances. The marigold and neroli are the most prominent floral notes, and in combination with the spices, Summer 25 almost smells like a classic oriental. It is, of course, patently modern; Ffern is evidently characterized by environmentally conscious, New Age, forward-thinking optimism. There is plenty of shared DNA with the other Ffern I have smelled, but I don’t hold this against any of the fragrances. Any consistency in a brands scents emerges as their holistic philosophy. It should be observed and analyzed. I see a penchant for open air, freedom in nature, a romantic realism in the outdoors.

I got this last year when it was released and did not use it much. Today, I decided to smell it again and wow what a difference the year made. This scent is now absolutely gorgeous. Citrus and fresh in the opening which develops into a spicy floral and woody dry down. I recall it disappearing quickly on my skin a year ago, but now it stays for a few hours, changing as the day goes. I see a lot of negative reviews here, and while I notice many of the Ffern scents lack a diversity in their first impressions. I also notice that when comparing it to other seasons, there are stark differences. This summer scent is exactly what I would imagine a summer in a countryside would smell like. Fruit trees emitting their ripening citrus while the flowers bloom and fields waft their fresh fragrance on a light breeze of a summer day. I’d also like to note the citrus scent (which usually dissipates first) lasts much longer for me here. I’m glad I gave this one another chance.

Like all Ffern EDPs, it opens citrussy and green and then settles into warm spice. On my skin, it behaves very differently depending on the climate: I first wore it in gentle Scandinavian summer, and the initial grapefruit and orange quickly gave way to the spicy cardamom and turmeric. Then I wore it in the Mediterranean on a hot day, and the scent was just pure citrus for half an hour, and then disappeared. On a cooler day in the Mediterranean, it lasts long enough for marigold and white peach to come through - but never long enough for the spice. It is a nice summer perfume, but on a hot day it has less longevity than an eau de toilette - about 30 min for me. That said, I still love it. Synthetic perfumes of any kind can give me a strong headache, so the poor longevity of natural perfume is a trade-off I'm willing to make. I'll keep it for cooler weather.

I got this perfume on Aug 29 and to me it feels like a perfect early fall fragrance. Mid and base notes are so cozy, feels almost like a soft blanket. The projection is low, it should be safe for work if you work at an office. To me it's a feminine fragrance, fairly unique and nothing like what's topping charts at the malls right now: e.g. crazy sweet vanilla gourmands or unbalanced heavy florals and "not a perfume chemical scents". If I were to remotely compare it to smth, then it would be lighter scented, floral Lush perfumes or Jo Malone scents. It's a comparison based on the vibe, light, floral, natural, no synthetic harsh notes. I'm very happy with the experience, will try other fragrances from this brand.

Hot summer day in a bottle! It reminds me of a summer sunset in a field in Greece. I am usually not a huge fan of citrus based openings but this one is a bit different. What I love about this perfume in particular is that you get this wonderful warmth immediately after the citrus notes. A lot of times perfumers will equate summer perfumes with "fresh" or green notes but I really love how warm this one smells. We are currently going through a heatwave where I am and I and it somehow smells even better in the heat. Kudos for the marketing and packaging including a short film that helps form an emotional connection to the product. Unisex. Sillage and longevity not massive by any means.

When I first smelled Ffern Summer 25 back in June, I really didn’t like it. It was a nice scent for someone else, but didn’t seem like SUMMER. On me, none of the citrus came through — it was far more woody and spicy. Disappointing. But the longer the summer has gone on, the more I appreciate it. It isn’t summer on the beach. It’s summer in the mountains or summer in the fields. It isn’t roses and peaches for me, it’s goldenrods and marigolds. It’s August in a perfume, not June. On me, it will wear very nicely into autumn, and I can’t be displeased.

This one took me a bit by surprise. It starts off fairly sweet and flowery, but becomes a completely different fragrance after 10 min. The spice really comes through and it takes a sharp turn from being slightly feminine leaning to completely unisex. It is a bit of a shame that the spices dominate the rest of the notes. It might be a bit pungent for some, but worth a try if one can get their hands on it.

Came for the perfumery, stayed for the marketing. I do love how unique this scent is. I appreciate that it doesn’t just smell like it’s FOR summer but that it smells LIKE summer. It’s warm (marigold) and fresh (grapefruit) at the same time. A very sunny perfume.

The scent is so light, it wears off my skin after 2 hours, but it is beautiful. I have to spray a lot for it to project, but I do get compliments when I wear it.

after seeing their ads all over my instagram timeline i decided to give Ffern a try, and their lottery system was a fun concept and i was quite excited to be able to receive a box. i was sold on the grapefruit/stonefruit “peach water” angle, and the packaging is extremely delightful; in the box they give you a separate sampling kit to try before opening the full bottle, as well as an art print and a small hand stamped terracotta scent stone. i can tell a lot of care goes into these fragrances and the seasonal unboxing experience, but this scent on my skin reads almost entirely as warm spice, with very little citrus. i LOVE grapefruit fragrances and tend to prefer my citrus smells in “clean” or aldehydic contexts, and this is instead a rather rich, warm spice citrus. on my skin the combination of cardamom, nutmeg, and turmeric makes me think more of christmas, not summer (think like Hobby Lobby scented pine cones) and much like the other reviews, the longevity is short, i didn’t get very much of the top notes, and the fragrance really didn’t change that much for me as it dried down, just stayed as warm, grassy spices. i really appreciate that they give you the option to either return or exchange your bottle for a different one from their previous releases, as that is what i will be doing. it’s quite bittersweet to see a fragrance from a very well presented and eco-conscious perfumery fall a little flat, but if intimate and rich spicy scents are your thing, i would recommend it mainly for the presentation and customer service alone.

Frankly, my first impression of this fragrance was quite evocative: it smells like my family's old storeroom, filled with a blend of base oils and a pervasive, almost inescapable aroma of citrus essential oils. Rather than grapefruit, the initial notes I caught were distinctly neroli and bergamot. The presence of rock rose then deepened the entire composition, giving the scent a lower, more resonant tone. Personally, this fragrance immediately transports me to the humid, sweltering summers of my hometown – not the mild warmth of the UK, but that intense, sticky heat. It brings back memories of being cooped up in the family workshop, specifically the small, somewhat oily essential oil storage room, simply because it was too hot to be anywhere outside. Unfortunately, and as is often the case, the scent dissipated very quickly and stayed close to the skin. After just half an hour, there was little to no trace left on my skin. I like their merchants, but would question this season's card is not that consistent with the theme. 5/10.

This was my fifth bottle of Ffern and my first return. I was excited for the grapefruit and marigold notes as these are some of my favorite smells ! Unfortunately, it doesn't really hit the mark with either of these notes (the grapefruit is gone pretty quick and the marigold is very faint) or any other of its "key seasonal notes". Because I couldn't find a personal connection with this one as I had in previous orders, it went back. I also found the ad campaign this season surprisingly disingenuous... What are they doing to uplift their community or bring attention to folk traditions in this release, exactly ?

With all that peachiness in the marketing, it would have been nice to have an actual detectable peach note in this fragrance. Instead all I immediately get is citrus citrus citrus without much complexity. It's also very strong in spices on the drydown, which is a bit surprising for what's supposed to be a summer fragrance. That said, I don't dislike it, it's different enough from other perfumes in my collection that I don't mind keeping it, but if what I've read is true and ffern releases are very similar, I don't see myself staying on the ledger that long.

I wanted to like this sooooooo bad especially after what it takes to get a bottle but to me it just smells like an old fashioned/angostura bitters :( I love old fashions but I don't want to walk around smelling like it all day, and the scent doesn't really change over time on my skin. Maybe my nose is poor but all I get is orange peel and spices, was really hoping for more peach.

My first venture into Ffern! It’s a hit for me, personally. I love how aromatic and citrusy and fruity this is! I love that there’s a certain soapy aspect to it as well but in a most wonderful way 🫧 🫧 The Pink Grapefruit note is magical and that peachy note is there as well 🍑 I love it! My only gripe is that it only comes in a 1 oz. bottle 😔

Straight up citrus with no deapth, no longevity and generic zest (and of course the usual Ffern base). 13 reasons why I cut off my ledger with Ffern. Bye bye.

A spicy oriental floral, though quite soapy. Meh.

Incredibly overpowering citrus, almost no trace of the other notes it promises. Heavy on the bergamot especially, the note that has made me dislike most of the Ffern scents I've received. The notes listed make Ffern perfumes sound like they'd be complex, but it's really disappointing, especially for the price.

I really wanted to like Summer 25 by Ffern, on paper, it sounded right up my alley with all those citrus and aromatic notes. The opening is actually quite nice: bright, fresh, and a little spicy in a clean, herbal way. It feels uplifting at first, like a breezy summer morning. But unfortunately, it didn’t stay that way on my skin. As it dried down, it turned sour, almost flat and slightly bitter, losing that fresh sparkle it started with. The warmth and balsamic notes came through in a way that felt heavy rather than comforting, and the overall scent just became a bit dull and off for me. I can see how this might work beautifully on someone else, especially if their skin holds onto the brighter citrus elements longer. But on me, the dry down just didn’t sit right. Overall: a no for me.

I was waiting to receive my autumn 25 bottle to review this one, and today is finally the day. I was curious to see if they smell similar since I've heard most ffern fragrances smell very similar and honestly, yeah, I see why people say that. I think I'll keep both of them and then remove myself from the ledger because while I really like the fresh spicy notes ffern seems to make frequent use of, I also don't need 4 bottles of it a year! Especially at that price point. I really like summer 25 for the most part, I think it's a great fragrance despite being overpriced. Ffern has really good marketing and it's fun to unbox each new fragrance, so I will miss that. On my skin the citrus top notes fade very quickly, making this mostly a green scent. It lasts longer than I thought it would, especially on cooler days. A lot of people complain that you can't smell peach in this at all, but the base has a faint sweetness after the dry-down which could be from the peach water. My one complaint is that I think this fragrance performs horribly in the heat, which is very ironic for a summer fragrance! When I wore this on a hot day it took on a repulsive bile-like sweetness, I couldn't stand it. I plan to only wear my ffern fragrances indoors or on cold days from now on. Another nice thing about this company's scents is that they don't trigger headaches in me at all, even when I put my nose directly to my skin. This is pretty uncommon for me when it comes to fragrance and I really appreciate it. Anyway, being on the ffern ledger for a few seasons is quite a fun experience if you have the money to spare, but ultimately unless you can really appreciate the subtle nuances of each fragrance you'll probably get bored of them after a while.

Begins with bright and bitter grapefruit rind and pulp. Some sweetness as well. The olibanum softens the citruses and keeps them from being harsh. Soon it becomes a gentle aromatic creamy floral with sustained citrus notes. The marigold is quite nice as I’ve always enjoyed their rather spicy floral note. I usually stray away from white florals but this one feels more grounded in its balsamic and herbal base and given a certain edge from the myriad of citrus notes. The florals never become cloying and stay warm and almost a bit dry. I quite like this one. It seems like a natural follow up to Spring 25 where that one smelled of greens and early spring flowers. This one feels more like the blooms in a large field that have been heated by the hot sun.

I was very disappointed in this fragrance. Honestly I was looking forward to smelling the peach only to really smell all citrus. I am going to give this house one more chance to thrill me then i am done. I discontinued my membership then decided to give it another go when I heard about the peach only to be disappointed. They need to stick to the script and stick to the notes that the fragrance is being portrayed as. I will smell the sample that comes with the next fragrance Autumn 25 and if it is a dud I am returning and I will never go with this house again. They seem to be trying to hard to be different and they destroy the fragrance. Come on Ffern get it together. I can buy designer fragrances that smell 10x better

Very-very sharp, citrusy, harsh openning and this comes from a grapefruit perfume lover. Sadly, I had to return. I only enjoyed the base notes, approx. 3-hours into it, once Summer 25 rounds up a bit. The overal blend was out of balance, as the sharpness and acidity lingered way too long on my skin. I wish the cardamom and peach water notes would come forward faster to energetically tone things down. Points for the nice marketing: packaging/film/podcast/free tea. For grapefruit lovers I HIGHLY counter suggest FLORAIKU's 'Between Two Trees', worth every single penny and much more nuanced.

Close relative to Autumn '22 IMHO, could be the summer twin to that autumn. I am smelling them side by side just now and also agree that I too expected more "juicy" fruitiness, based off the advertising. However, I likely keep my bottle, because I love this scent profile. For fans of aromatic, herbal and spicy fragrances with citrus. Love how the fragrances I tested so far all have this aromatherapeutic quality to them. Classy but also grounding.

I so want to love this but it just disappears. The scent is wonderful after initial dry down, but even with very generous application it is gone with half an hour. It just about develops enough to make it from the gloriously spicy citrus into the marigold, but there is also a sharp soapy undertone and then it’s gone. Unfortunately returned- they have yet to recapture the heady heights of Autumn 24 for me!

Smells identical to Spring 23, which I own and then I bought Santa Maria Bizzarria to replace. No matter what combinations of herbs and flowers and citrus you use, it ends up being functionally identical as previous releases, with little to no variation.

A lot of reviews dislike this but its one of my favorite summer scents. It makes me feel like I a running through the park.

Where are all these notes coming from if Ffern says it's a peach fragrance? No peach at any stage if this fragrance?

I'm not as big on ffern's summer releases, weak, not tactile enough.

I wish this projects well. Becomes a skin scent within an hour.
