Cedrus

Tried this twice at a fancy hipster barbershop. It is a lovely, refreshing and linearly-designed cedar and orange fragrance, spiked with jasmine. I do not smell the pink pepper or the musk that is listed in the notes. This one has what it takes to stand up to my perfume vampire skin that sucks the life out of all fragrances, and it stays with me for several hours, which I find impressive for a perfume produced of natural ingredients. It also has a very good projection that I can smell wafting all the way up from my wrist as I walk and go about my afternoon and evening. I’m impressed that the “wild orange” stays present throughout the life of the perfume, instead of fading off the top notes, and the perfume is well blended in that none of the notes dominates over the others. I think this is a feat that must be difficult to accomplish, especially in a linear fashion, as each of these notes could easily rise to the top or sink to the bottom and squash each other. That being said, I do wish for something that would anchor this scent and keep it from being just a little bit too sweet and bright, to the point of being a tad cloying. A bit of woody vetiver or perhaps a light bit of oud or patchouli would do nicely just to nail this sucker down. Might be a nice layering scent, however. What I appreciate about this house is that it is made of naturally sourced ingredients, and that it is certified cruelty free. For what it’s worth.
