Lascia Ch'io Pianga

I've been a fan of Filippo Sorcinelli's fragrances for some time, particularly his UNUM line which began with what is probably the most churchy, mystical, exalted incense fragrance in existence today, LAVS (2014). Sorcinelli is a purveyor of exalted earthiness, or perhaps materially grounded ecstasy, a paradox stumbling to convey the sense that his incredibly potent, beamingly projecting essays in holy smoke often, if not always, manage to capture in heavy-hitting bursts of resins, balsams and aromatic woods an ethereal, even other-worldly spiritual quality, the sort of thing that only olfaction, the most chemical of all sense experiences can successfully produce: the notion that matter, earthy matter, can be transformed into something resembling what we like to think of as spirit. More concretely, the majority of the UNUM line is solidly based on incense, of all sorts. From the churchiness of LAVS to the incredible darkness and bewildering shadows of his masterpiece, the incredibly named Io non Ho Mani che mi Accarezino Il Volto, to the big-bosomed, operatic Quando Rapita in Estasi. That is, until this one came along. Now, for some reason the webpage devoted to Lascia Ch'Io Pianga on Sorcinelli's website is not working for me, so I can't read his usually profuse, sometimes overbearing explicatory marketing blurb in this instance, but I know that the title might come from a famous aria in Handel's opera Rinaldo, which is the sort of thing that Sorcinelli would take as an inspiration. I won't try to make anything more out of this, I'll just say that this is the most surprising UNUM edition to date. Why? Well, for starters, not a hint of incense. The notes pyramid mentions tolu balsam and if that's the case (I can't detect it among the most heavenly, light white musks that are the dominant forces in the dry down) it'd be the only reminder of the resinous depth that previous fragrances all had in common. This is, instead, an altogether different approach to the earthy spirituality conundrum. To my nose, this consists of a gradual, slow and always fascinating progression through the domain of florals. As it has become common in Sorcinelli's creations, we get the traditional hierarchy of top-heart-base notes almost in reverse. It's the heaviest florals that somehow capture the first moments: tuberose, jasmine, iris. Once the helping hands of white musk start to show, the whole landscape starts to smell of the impossibles, meaning those flowers that are often mentioned in notes lists but we all know (or should know) are completely impossible to reproduce by natural means: lilac, gardenia. It's not a secret, nor blameworthy, that Sorcinelli works with synthetics, a lot, and often in humongous doses. But what makes this perfume so unique and, to my mind and nostrils at least, so wonderful, is that despite the overall composition being unmistakably that of a huge 'abstract flower', in the manner perfected by too many masterpieces of yore to recall, this is far from an 'ideal flower', it is still a composite of real, be they natural or synthetic, floral instances, carried by that near-perfect white musk, both potent and subtle, a dream based on stems and petals and roots and leaves. A wonderful welcome surprise and another jewel on Sorcinelli's crown.

4/14/2025: Lascia Ch'io Pianga by Filippo Sorcinelli is one of my favorite niche fragrances. I applied it earlier this morning, noting that it almost has a salt-and-pepper plus indolic vibe to the floral notes. By midday, I can still smell LCP on my skin, although it's faded a bit. Often I'll get creative midday, to see if I can intuitively find another fragrance that layers over top the original in a pleasing way. Given how floral LCP is, I thought I'd lean into the theme by using a mono-themed floral fragrance. I chose the simple French Lilac by Pacifica. It worked much better than I expected... and even seemed to lean on to the aforementioned salt and pepper indolic vibe. Intrigued, I looked up the scent notes for LCP, and what did I find but Lilac! I re-sprayed some LCP on my partner, and now I detect Lilac in the LCP. It's unmistakable. I'm not sure why I didn't notice it earlier. But when I look at the votes for scent notes above on this page... I think maybe I'm not the only one who missed it. At this point, I think Lilac is the most distinctive amongst the floral notes here. For example, I don't detect the tuberose nearly as much as the Lilac. Very interesting. 12/19/25: Thought I'd pop in here with an update. By this time, I totally forgot what I'd written back in April 2025. LOL. Here's the thing. I think the scent note combination listed here just does not match with the way I actually experience this fragrance. I've organized my fragrances according to their major scent accords: I've stored LCP along with about six fragrances my partner and I own that I/we consider belonging in the "miscellaneous and weird" category. Other fragrances in this category smell predominantly of scents like dirt, permanent marker, sea water, pencil shavings, and such. You know what LCP reminds me of the most? The way old adhesive tape on band-aids used to smell until, say, the late 1990s. It smells like that to me. The smell you'd notice as soon as the paper covering of the band-aid was removed: it smelled weirdly rubbery. I don't know of anything else that smelled like it until I found LCP. So, yeah, it is a weird niche smell. I'm sure it is not for everyone. I bet if I chose to wear this loudly in public, people would wonder what that smell is. LOL. I don't want to make a fuss, so I just wear it at home where my partner and I appreciate it. 🦋🧡🦋

On the surface, Lascia Ch'io Pianga is a massive bouquet of assorted flowers, thick & jammy white florals, with a sprinkle of spices and a fizzy/hazy body. Initially it came off as very bare-bones and simple, but there was something so addicting that kept drawing me back in. I already used up most of my 2ml official sample in just a few days. What makes this fragrance so interesting and addictive is how Filippo balances these very feminine-leaning top and mid notes (quite literally every top and mid note listed by Filippo is a floral note, many of which can be considered dainty and soft especially lilac & gardenia) with what I assume to be the glue that holds it all together: Balsam. This pairing is blended in such a way that even such "pretty" flowers are made to resemble the intimidating look and feel of a lion's mane, bold and confident. Now, this balsam almost feels off screen, like I'm holding this bouquet of flowers but looking at it from a top-view so I can't actually see the base of the stems, but I'm visualizing the sappy balsam acting as a vase, holding the stems together, the spice-nuanced resins just barely peaking out from between the petals. About the opening: it's harsh and not too fun, and I would wait 3-5 minutes before walking close to anyone. I'm not sure if it's the white cap that looks like cracked and chipping paint, but the opening actually reminds me of paint thinner, very chemical, harsh, kinda colorless. But give it a few minutes and it's like witnessing flowers blooming from a gloomy, nameless grave. There's definitely a musk that adds depth and support but I'm not sure what kind it is, it's a bit hazy, which adds a subtle mystery to the rest of the perfume. The Fragrantica voted accords show "animalic". Honestly, I don't really think "animalic" or "funky" when experiencing Lascia Ch'io Pianga, but there is this fizzy texture to it all which might be my interpretation of what others are noticing as "animalic". I've actually been on a big kick of finding white-floral forward scents that are relatively unisex or even slightly male leaning, and this is easily among the best in this field. One of my favorite recent finds, and quite under the radar. Will certainly be purchasing a FB soon as soon as I can stop spending all my money on discovery kits.

Another fragrance by Filippo Sorcinelli that has joined my collection. Olfactively, it is a purely floral composition: gardenia, jasmine, tuberose, and carnation, all immersed in a soft, powdery sweetness of iris. In the base, musk and Tolu balsam provide depth and longevity. The first impression is almost tangible — as if you’re burying your nose into a cold, wet bouquet of flowers. Damp, white, slightly melancholic. The powdery texture smooths out the edges without diminishing the intensity of the floral heart. As it settles on the skin, a subtle, almost imperceptible animalic note emerges — mainly from the tuberose and the musk. This “dirty” nuance is, for me, what breaks the one-dimensional floral profile and makes it wearable for men as well, adding character and contrast. On an artistic level, the fragrance seems to revolve around the concept of freedom — not as something light and radiant, but as a state born through loss and realization. A kind of freedom that still carries the shadow of bondage. Sorcinelli appears to create through contradictions: beauty and decay, purity and flesh, light and dampness. And this is precisely where the strength of the fragrance lies. Because, just like freedom, darkness does not disappear — it simply ceases to define you. Within its floral beauty, there is always a cold, wet, almost tear-soaked hint of melancholy. Not strong enough to overshadow the flowers, but enough to give them meaning. Longevity is around 12-15 hours with a very good Sillage! Overall one of the best floral fragrances I have ever smelled. Bravo, Filippo!

Never had I smelled any other fragrance quite like this one :) I see that many have compared it to Narcotic V. from Nasomatto, but to me, they're not alike at all. The note pyramid is what makes it sort of similar. Although to me, by first spray, it smelled very salty, like tears or saltiness of freshwater lakes (not sea-like). It sort of closed up my throat, but after 30mins I noticed that it dried down less salty. The first thought that came into mind are halos, ... white veils, white marble statues, stained glass windows --but modernized. Nothing about this seems dated or vintage. Think: the Cathedral of Our Lady of The Angels (located in L.A.), gray clouds, quietness and stillness. I didn't think to associate this with the name of the fragrance (the music). And in more comparison to NV, LCP is more blended alongside the florals equally and not just tuberose, lily, and jasmine. Also, I'm not getting much spices in this compared to NV. Here, it's animalic from the tolu balsam, but a cleaner animalic. The flowers here are detached from it's stem, somewhat left to decay in the rain as @francesco_greico mentioned in their review. I feel like the fragrance would shine in the heat of the sun rather than the night. I'll try that out and see if there'll be changes to it. I tested it during a cloudy day and these were my thoughts. Lastly, it lasted me a good 10hrs with minimal projection. Edit: The florals exudes in the sunlight, so so beautiful. 9.5 rating jumped to 10/10 :)

This is a scent I would like to purchase someday. It smells like the most beautiful melancholy in the spring. A cinematic cry close to the window while it rains. There is even a funeral-like vibe to it, which is a big plus for me. Fresh, white flowery, and the most gorgeous jasmine/tuberose perfume that my nose has ever experienced. However, it is also musky and animalic at its core, making it more unisex than a feminine perfume. It's quite strong, I applied it to my skin, and I could smell it all day. Even at the studio, my coworker asked whether I could smell Jasmine all of sudden, so I had to explain that I was wearing perfume. They honestly believed there was a jasmine plant someplace in the studio. Maybe not a direct compliment, but I still think it’s a compliment.

After 3 wears this is feminine, I was hypnotized for the first 2 wears in the winter 😫 but review is based on initial 2 wears below..... How Filippo is able to capture the sensuality of white florals , blended with a smell of heavy rain and capture these notes down to the particles,(yes, down to the particles, have to smell this to understand, getting a bit of metallic like note ) which somewhat captures you in a slight hypnosis state of consciousness upon first daily wear, that is a Masterpiece, very few might capture the musk side and not enjoy it(possibly due to a light spray), but if someone captures the floral side and everything else it shoots at you, it creates this vision worth experiencing.

for now I struggle a little to find the words in front of this other marvel that Sorcinelli has created. Without doubt the best green tuberose ever created, based on gardenia and jasmine and above all on a carnal carnation. Less on the ylang ylang in fact it is less tropical and suitable for all seasons and absolutely unisex. The history of the genesis of this masterpiece can be found on the Sorcinelli website. Vote. 10/10 Performance 10/10 It is perhaps a bit similar to nishane tuberoze but for a lower price and a bottle that is a work of art ... I have not the slightest doubt. I'm going with Sorcinelli. MASTERPIECE.

I am completely overtaken by this scent. It is floral in such an intriguing way- I feel like a sexy robot when I wear it. So clean it's almost medical. I would wear this in any season, but I can certainly see most describing it as a spring scent. There is an initial sunscreen-y salty smell. Not sweet at all to me. A get-well-soon bouquet. So good.

This fragrance is truly captivating! The floral notes are so rich and luxurious, with the tuberose taking center stage. It's a bit powdery and sweet, but in a sophisticated way. Lascia Ch'io Pianga definitely leaves a lasting impression.

It is very melancholic art. I can feel the sadness somehow. Tuberose party with very honest and almost dirty feeling. The longevity is amazing. I can say the drydown is similar with initial spray. Not sweet at all. Defo a unisex.

It’s quite nice.. perfect for a bright sunny day.. jeans and tshirt or tropical shirt at an outdoor beach bar patio... floral.. fresh.. a bit soapy... not sure why the brainiacs who get on here slammed the rating

Realistic jasmine/tuberose scent, cool and green with some sunscreeny nuances. Wet and lush, almost tropical. Sweet in the way all white flowers are sweet, but not overly so. Unisex leaning femme.

What a beautiful white floral that suits men nicely. The jasmin, green tuberose and musc bomb is so addicting. Wearing this feels like being pure. My favorite fragrance to wear for jumu'a

Super realistic gardenia and jasmine, with just a hint of tuberose that makes the florals feel more layered and lush. Fresh and pretty, nothing powdery or old-ladyish about it.

Most realistic jasmine I've tried. A bit animalic to a point. Gorgeous fragrance and very well blended. Leans feminine ofc, but a must get if you love florals.

Well...damn @tyggrz. I thought I was done blind buying for the next year.

wow! if i was a bee i would ejaculate after smelling this. the opening is a potent floral bomb, almost blew my head off. incredibly intense, overwhelmingly strong jasmine and lilac. after 10 minutes go by, the tuberose marches forth in full glory. i can very much smell the resemblance to Narcotic V, but this is a bit more complex and nuanced.. it is more than just an ode to tuberose. it truly smells like walking through an exquisite garden, brimming with freshly bloomed flowers. the air is crisp and the sun is shining, the aroma is inescapable. so hyper-realistic. after a few hours of wear the florals remain, but smell more muted and musky.. like they’ve become slightly wilted. i certainly respect and appreciate the art of this perfume, but i would never buy a full bottle of it. i do not find this animalic or sexy at all, which others have noted. it’s really just a headache-inducing explosion of various flowers. yes, it’s impressive, but it’s just so pungent.. i’d feel sick after wearing it for too long.

Reviewing a sample from 2025.Lascia Ch'io Pianga was launched in 2022. This is an unexpected operatic ode to white florals by Sorcinelli. Opens a bit plasticky for a few seconds then sparkling florals - mostly jasmine and gardenia followed by green tuberose wrapped in soft balsamic/vanillic Tolu musk. It is a bit powdery and sweet but not overly so. This is not a tuberose soliflore . As such, it is both lighter and slightly more complex than Carnal Flower or Moon Bloom. It is also heavier and less natural smelling than Dusita's florals. The florals here are not indolic but perhaps should be to add more depth and drama. Quality- very good 4/5 Feminine Performance- very good 4/5 A melodious white floral ; beautiful but not unique. Perfect for those who like a clean bouquet of white flowers which stays fresh forever. 7.5/10

At weddings, one can find small bouqutes of lilies with jasmine. This one smells as if one has buried his/her nose in said bouquets. It's extremely pleasant to smell. Like all white florals this brings joy and refreshment. Also, the trail it leaves is quite awesome to smell in the air. I would never use this as a fragrance though since it lies on the far spectrum of feminine fragrances. To sniff it though, wow.. what a delight.

Not a lot of people mentioning the musk and balsam base. These are what elevate this fragrance. They go really well with the super super strong pollen floral scent. Feels like sitting in the middle of a flowery garden during hayfever season. I personally wouldn't buy it but I would have no qualms wearing it.

The scent is simply divine! But the white paint on the bottle needs attention. The bottle leaked a little in transit and all the lettering/strips came off. On me, at +12+15 it's cold, refreshing jasmine, carnation and tuberose. Absolutely wearable and unisex. Love it!

A well executed lush white floral. Clean jasmine, but mainly a tuberose scent. Tropical, heady, fresh. Reminds me of OroNardo by Xinu in it’s lushness and clean execution. Sorcinelli is know for his darker compositions but he can handle florals too apparently.

Clean vintage unisex tuberose white florals with musky woody base I find it kind of boring but much like other filippo sorcinelli’s i feel it growing on me more with each wear

This fragrance is almost entirely tuberose to me. It's tuberose on turbo, the maximum tuberose tuberose can smell like, in all its show-stealing bubblegum glory. I honestly have a hard time believing that this has tolu balsam and carnation in it. To me, it smells like a pretty linear big white floral scent, with a powdery dry down. It feels really pungent at first, just a strong scent with a strong projection. For all that, however, it doesn't have great longevity. I feel like it was gone within an hour, though I suppose I could have been going nose-blind. I don't think so, though, because I can smell it in the sample vial even after I find it's faded from my person. I do not agree that this is a unisex scent, in terms of perfumery descriptors, this is quite feminine. This feels like a dated but wearable fragrance. Something an older woman would feel at home wearing, perhaps thinking of her mother or grandmother. It's too bubblegum and powdery for me, a little too mature for my tastes at this point in my life. 6/10.

This is a blinding white floral bomb. Pure, soapy, and overwhelmingly clean. It opens like a bouquet of jasmine and tuberose pressed to your face, beautiful but suffocating, with aldehydes sparkling like soap bubbles in a sunlit cathedral. There’s a sharpness so piercing it gave me a migraine, yet the haunting, angelic quality keeps pulling me back. Painful, pristine, and strangely romantic.

Lascia ch'io pianga by Filippo Sorcinelli is a fragrance that showcases the best of tuberose when blended with gardenia and ylang-ylang. It exudes brightness, sensuality, and opulence. But this fragrance also evokes a sense of melancholy, reminiscent of a precious flower left to rot and be abandoned under the rain.

A nursing home... any support worker will be familiar with this smell when working with older ladies

Having sampled most of Sorcinelli's UNUM line and owning 5 bottles I regret to say this is his worst work so far, and unfortunately I had to come to this realization through a blind buy. A quick summary this smells like cheap air freshener in a decaying shopping mall, this is synthetic, simplistic, and coarse.

It is believed that in some cultures, crying, represents cleansing of the soul. This masterpiece made by Filippo Sorcinelli from my perspective has the power to portray this phenomenon. It's a strong urge for emotional release, vigorously, through weeping. A type of freedom which is born as a victory over sorrow, rather than succumbing to it. It's bitter but carries hope through liberation. Like the sun rays gently caressing thick flowers growing from the damp graveyard soil after a rainfall. Their scent lingering in the air, dancing with the smell of petrichor. Again, hope and liberation in moments of desperation. A Gothic funeral atmosphere with strong reminiscence and melancholia. Nostalgia, with lingering longing accompanied by a bitter sweet cascade of tears. The emerald colour of the bottle and white lacquered cap perfectly capture the cold, green and clean facet of tuberose, which together with jasmine and carnation plays the star in this operatic spectacle. Musky and animalic facets provide depth and a more unisex leaning character. A truly ethereal experience for admirers of true art portrayed through perfumery as well as lovers of realistic white florals. I highly recommend.

Feminine divine ode to Tuberose and Jasmine in the highest quality of the ingredients. Beautiful summer poetry, speaking of the divinity of beauty . Airy, aethereal, narcotic and hypnotic. Mega strong pure flowers, executed extremely masterfully. Reminds me of a night in a garden in summer, with ripple juicy flowers intensely on my path, on a walk to a greek white church, overlooking the sea. The stars and moon in the dark blue sky, giving me orientation. A cold wind gently caressing my shoulders and hair. Me,alone, feeling a part of the universe and God's creation, and in awe of every detail of life and existence. Feeling like a small cosmic dust particle in the firmament. Wears mature. Has a hint of animalic in the background. Reminds me of my aunties and my mom. But if a prayer to jasmine and tuberose is what you want, look no further. There is quite a hiding animalic pinch in there, be prepared.

As a true fan of Filippo sama (not only because he is an alive genius of the smells and it’s aesthetic, but also because he is such a sexy daddy omg), I had to fly to Rome to taste this fragrance. My expectations about the quality are reached, this is such a well-blended scent! I think what makes this roses wearable for both male and female is that it has some corky coldness as well as breathe Iris. However, this is probably first time I’m a bit disappointed in terms of the uniqueness since usually from Sorcinelli I would definitely expect something “really different”. And from the first sniff I immediately recognized one of my favorite beast mode fragrance Atlantide from Teziana Terenzi. But this one has more spices in there and much more nuclear. Anyway I love the new Filippo masterpiece, but probably won’t buy it.

I really like this but man is the first part animalic and in your face! I took Trader Joe's face pads w/alcohol in them and wiped some perfume away and then it was more tolerable. The dry down is very beautiful but it reminds me of Narcotic Venus so much that I don't need both. It's a gorgeous perfume but with this one remember, less is more! Edit on 8/30/23 This is so different on a sultry summer night! It really sings and comes alive in the heat, and is Sexy-yes, with a capital S!

I never thought I'll have fancy for a floral, forget tuberose. I'd have considered something like that purely for women & probably not even sample. And this one got me right up to a bottle. This is probably the greenest & cleanest interpretation of tuberose, it's stunning. And yes this stands beyond gender. More than written words, this is something purely to experience. Outstanding ! Musky balsamic carnations... Not really a white floral as it seems, i get slightly chili hot note within the balsamic carnations. It's like the very first moments of a crushed carnations as you can sense the juicy heated texture in your hands, then comes the gardenia, jasmines, but more of big doses of jasmines. The bottle color and looks is quite beautiful actually so is the scent. Nice.

I collect tuberose scents and had been looking forward to sampling Lascia ch’io pianga for a long time, but I cannot get past how much it smells like Fracas. The spicy notes are perhaps a little more pronounced here, but it feels too similar for me to justify having them both.

I'm not a floral girlie and my least fave florals are white but holy hell is this beautiful. Could almost convert me but I do not need anymore sorcinellis 🤣 If I did, I would for sure consider this one!

Hyper realistic, verdant, lush. And yet unmistakably modern. A disregard for prior conventions. Like the proposal for rebuilding Notre Dame that aimed to transform the entire building into a greenhouse.
