Jungle Santal

I tried this body mist on a whim since it was sitting on the Target clearance shelf for $4.49. At first, nothing special and maybe a touch odd. Not good, not bad, just ok. But as the day went on, I kept smelling the back of my hand where I'd sprayed it. I was intrigued! First, I can't believe how long it lasted. After multiple hand washings, the scent was still strong. But the scent was also intoxicating. I went back later that day and bought both the bottles they had. I can see where people would get pickles from this. At first spray there is a definite sharp, almost turmeric smell that is a bit off-putting. But that only lasts for maybe the first 5 minutes. After that is a lovely green, mossy, woody, ever-so-slightly smokey/charred scent. Even though I get the "green" notes, my first thought was not "jungle" but Joshua Tree, which is arguably about as far from the jungle as one can get. But the wood smell just took me straight there. The cardamom is present and adds to the overall fragrance experience, but is not the dominant note (at least to me). This fragrance seems to be clean and sensual at the same time, which is unusual. I have never smelled Santal 33 by Le Labo (which Jungle Santal is reported to be a dupe of), so I can't speak to its accuracy there. However, I think it is a lovely scent in its own right, and for $4.49 it was an absolute steal!!! But I'd have paid full price--$14.99-- for it too. If I ever come across the EDP, I will pick that up too!

This begins as green, wet, slightly resinous woods but soon it adds the spicy cardamom. At the point of dry down, it is beautiful and balanced. I don't get a ton of tea, which is fine because I'm not a huge tea scent lover. But I love the contrast between dry wood and watery green notes, as well that of the spicy warmth of cardamom and fresher tea. I know oolong is smoky, but I don't get a ton of that either. I've tried the Le Labo scents mentioned by other reviewers, but I find this not to be similar to any of them. I'm not a huge fan of Santal 33. And while I understand that some were wanting a dupe, this is clearly a different take on papyrus and cardamom. Also, this has reasonable sillage and great lasting power on me, which is much more than I say for Santal 33. In all, if you love cardamom like I do, give this one a try. Personally, I like it on its own merits enough to be thrilled to own the bottle.

“I’m definitely getting pickle” This one adds to my collection of Santal 33 dupes lol ... I own B&BW “Lost in Santal” and it’s my favorite splash ever and I still mourn that it got discontinued. also I have declassified subtil 33 and it’s the worst one...there’s like a strong SWEET smell of anise??? It’s unbearable to me. Finally I got my hands onto this one at Marshall’s for around $17 ...not bad for and EDP For the first time I got the “pickle juice” everyone’s talking about but even comparing it to bbw lost in santal, it lacks of a sweet note. It lacks in longevity also but lays warm on skin and clothes I don’t think it’s a safe buy for everyone but I’m down for it My fave combo is declassified’s cedar bleu+lost in santal <3 I can’t believe I’m saying lost in santal it’s the best dupe aaand the funniest thing of this is that I haven’t smell the original santal 33 <3 kbye

I love this fragrance! It's addictive. It's stunning. It's a fairy floating around a sunrise morning in the forest there's greenery and tiny flowers covered in dew drops and the birds are chirping and it's just heavenly. Yes. It's sweet but not in a sweet cloying way but in Sweet ethereal way. I hated Santal 33. This? This is heavenly. I wish they made a lotion too, but I think I'm going to pick up the body spray as well... Winner for me! Somebody in the comments I think suggested pairing this with vanilla bourbon. I believe by mixbar I can't tolerate the vanilla bourbon. I thought it worked beautifully together but the vanilla one it got me but it smelled really good. Definitely a great suggestion. I didn't look to see the name I should look and then I'll edit this

I absolutely adore Jungle Santal. This is a fantastic impression of Le Labo Santal 33. In fact, Jungle Santal has a little bit more of a green “push” that I enjoy much more than Le Labo’s. I would say the biggest difference is that the base notes feel slightly different. This one doesn’t feel quite as heavy as Santal 33, nor is there a leather note detected. HOWEVER I enjoy that this scent feels a little fresher than Labo’s- and the longevity is not eternal, but still great! For a Target brand perfume, this is INCREDIBLY well blended. Complex, alluring, and refreshingly dry in all of its green beauty. The body mist is more vetiver heavy and doesn’t wear as long. The cardamom shines in this, and smells incredibly refined and addictive.

was not expecting to find this amazing dupe at target. it really is so similar to santal 33, but at a working man's price. i've only ever smelled santal 33 on others, so i don't know its full profile, but jungle santal starts with a herbal, spicy scent and dries down into sandalwood. i distinctly smell eucalyptus in the top notes. it smells like a sexy animal behaviorist, a studious and adventurous woman traveling to remote forests and jungles for her research. after a day in the field she sips tea and reads before disappearing into local bars for the night.

Side by side with Santal 33, I truly couldn't tell the difference. I asked my wife to pick which sample strip had $300 perfume and which had $30 perfume. She picked this target dupe as the expensive one. Really couldn't recommend this more. I see some people had issues with longevity, but this was not my experience. It lasted 8+ hours on me which far surpasses my expectations for the price.

I saw this one at target today. Tested it out along with not another Cherry. I ended up getting the Cherry one, but will go back to pick this one up! It is beautiful, clean and serene. It’s a trip to a spa somewhere in a rain forest near the beach. It smells similar to a shower gel by Harry’s called Shiso. Beautiful and relaxing everyday scent

I purchased this, Beauty Pie La Flaneuse, and Pacifica Beach Day separately not realizing how totally alike they all smell!! I guess I have a type. La Flaneuse is my favorite of the three, but this one I don't have to worry about using a lot of this because of the price and the supply, both of which are better than La Flaneuse.

I like this scent a lot, for me it scratches the Santal 33 itch. I've tried a few LL dupes and this is the one that does it for me. It's missing Santal 33s leather, but has the bright and sour scent I like, with a short visit into the world of cedar wood chips in the middle of fhe journey.

I picked this up about a year ago after smelling a friend who was wearing santal 33. While this isn't exactly the same, it gives me a great vibe and makes me feel fresh. My boyfriend hates this and says it smells like church incense.

Santal 33's cousin. This is super strong and I really enjoy this. I haven't reached for this since nearly two seasons ago but it is likely because I wore this one into the ground. Anything with cardamom in it drives me wild.

Love this one! It's green and lush, smells like a humid tropical jungle. I don't get any pickles, thankfully.

This is a unique dry green fragrance. If you love vetiver, this may appeal to you. It’s Not vetiver, but the papyrus has a bold grassy vibe that is stronger and dryer than a grass turf. The oolong tea brings in a different type of green note. Where green tea would be slightly astringent, the smokiness of oolong has an earthy incense quality. A mellower version of the smoky peat of Islay whisky. The cardamom elevates both with the mildly sweet aromatics of the seeds and dry green pods. This is more than I expect from a $25 scent from Target. It’s a beautiful serenade of green plants on a sunny day somewhere not too humid. It smells clean and both comforting and energizing.

I actually like this even though I never like grassy green scents lol. It just smells like a jungle to my nose, like how I imagine it would smell in a tropical jungle. Has anyone played Zelda Breath of the Wild? This is how I imagine the Faron region to smell when it's raining lol. It's a soothing, mystical green tropical rain forest earthy type of scent.

smells very similar to santal 33 but i do not see how people get moderate longevity on this thing, i washed my clothes and a week later i can still smell it on those clothes. it is unisex. smells good eternal longevity for me Edit: I finally bought this 6 months later. I can confirm it is definitely unisex and is the best santal 33 dupe money can buy.

I was worried about smelling like a pickle when wearing this, but I don't! Yay. Jungle Santal does open a little spicier, but dries down to a really pleasant and intimate green/woody scent. Almost smells a little bit like tea! I put this on over JHAG NAP, and it worked well--I might even try layering with another muskier scent for a bass boost.

The weird dill pickle note fades quickly; somehow it only makes me like Jungle Santal more. I gave the body mist as a gift, but might go back for a bottle to put in my own collection. Nothing mind blowing, but I kept sniffing my arm where I tested. Overall just a cool, soft-spicy and green scent that is pleasurable and affordable.

Jungle Santal starts off with a bust of fruit but quickly morphs into a dry sandalwood, ambroxin type perfume. Very long lasting in this 70F weather. Not a screamer but pleasantly lingering. Drydown reminds me of the drier aspect of This is Her (without the coconut and creamy tinge). Of course not a dupe but in the arena. Unisex.

I love wearing this on warm, rainy days. ginandrice mentioned mulch. Yes! It's standing in your spring garden after a hearty rain, the condensation lifting off mulched beds full of herbs and various seedlings. It's a little green, a little funky. I picked this up last year on a whim, and I'm not sorry I did so.

Very woody and fresh. It’s like your typical first thought when you think of a forest or pine scented candle ( minus the waxyness of a candle, and not as dense) I always get compliments when I wear this !!

Smells more expensive than it is. Haven't compared it side by side yet with the Le Labo. I have the body mist, not the EDP, so longevity is not the best, but decent for the price.

Green and a little pine-sol-ish, this is a moist sweet vegetal smell. I like it, don't love it. Its also unisex, I could easily see a masculine type wearing this.

This is an interesting one. I finally figured out what it smells like, which is old wooden furniture. It smells almost exactly like I stuck my head inside this antique wooden chest my grandparents used to have. I can practically hear the hinges of it creaking in my mind. This is the 'driest' fragrance I've ever smelled. There is nothing zesty, sweet, marine, or fruity here. Just pure, green, slightly piney wood + tea. There is a touch of spice but it's very soft to me. The tea note is more prominent than any spiciness imo. I feel another fragrance from this line, Before the Rainbow, is more overtly spicy somehow (though I LOVE that one!). I was also expecting this to be all around much stronger, but I find it pretty soft. I've seen a few people detect a mint note and I haven't personally picked up on that. I think this smells nice overall, I just feel a little weird wearing it. It's definitely not feminine, but it's not necessarily masculine leaning either; it's an odd fragrance for any person in some ways. It would be an absolutely lovely candle; very relaxing. I have no doubt some people can rock a fragrance like this. I don't think I'm one of them, so I will re-sell it, but not because it smells *bad* per se at all. P.S. It was the BotW review below that pushed me over the edge haha. I loved that description.

I don’t really like this on its own. Too....something earthy-green & masculine for me. On its own, it reminds me of a Lush Cosmetics shower jelly called “Jungle”, which I’m also not a huge fan of. lol But...in my sloppily spraying several different perfumes (from the fine’ry & the mix:bar collections from Target) onto scent strips to test them again after macerating, I over-sprayed a little, mixing some scents on my hand. I caught a whiff of my hand & discovered something magical had happened — something mixed to create a delicious scent! I went searching for what combo smelled so good, holding combinations of different scent strips up to my nose, and I found it! Jungle Santal layered with mix:bar’s Vanilla Bourbon gives an incredible unisex vanilla pipe tobacco vibe. A case of the sum being worth more than the parts, imo. (Vanilla Bourbon is kind of boring to me.) I was amazed & pleasantly surprised! For me, the key to being able to even use Jungle Santal is layering it with something else. I’ll have to try layering it with some different fragrances to see what else works. Macerating these cheaper frags makes a big difference too. I think they definitely need to macerate for a few months.

Another excursion to Targé. I love anything green, so I was hopeful for Jungle Santal. In the dry, air conditioned environment, it did not smell watery. Moreso woody and green, it reminded me of vegetation alongside sandalwood. Upon exiting the climate controlled store, I picked up on more of the smoky, musky nuances. The base is more "lit incense smoke" or perhaps a softer, less pungent "leather". Woody, earthy, dry, subtly resinous, but not sweet. I usually hate synthetic woody notes, but the woody notes here smell fine. I seem to be partial to "papyrus", I have enjoyed it in other releases. It doesn't come across as harsh, instead it smells pleasantly dry, papery, smoky, woody. Unfortunately Fine'ry Jungle Santal is reflective of the low price point, on the more minimalistic, one-dimensional side and it doesn't last very long (3-4 hrs on skin). As a personal perfume I don't think it works, but this scent would make a good candle or room spray.

My wife got this as a gift from her friend who got it at a Fine’ry event. She hates it. Gave it to me. Santal 33 is great and def unisex. I find Jungle Santal to be way more masculine leaning. Jungle Santal is way closer to Encre Noire than Santal 33. It’s also much weaker and Encre Noire is a much better deal and higher quality. Not sure why you’d buy this, other than it’s at Target and easy to acquire. If you want a Target bought Santal 33, buy Cremo’s Palo Santo. It’s cheaper and you get more of it. Do not buy this stuff.

Pickle. Bad santal dupe, and too weak to individuate and stand on its own merit. When you first apply this you may think you’re getting what you want, but once you notice how everything melts into pickle it’s hard to want to reach for it more than a few times. I’m just going to give my bottle away. I much prefer Maison Louis Marie’s Bois de Balincourt, a far more pleasant and complex green sandalwood fragrance.

I bought this last summer and loved it; it was so unique to anything I own or anything I’ve smelled before. I wore it a lot. When I pulled it out again for this season, now I’m smelling the dreaded dill pickle. I blame you guys for the comparison, honestly. Now I can’t unsmell it :(

I don’t usually get the pickle smell, but this one kinda gets there. It’s cool herbs, freshly washed dill, and pickle brine. That dang brine, I really liked the cool, almost medicinal dill smell so why does the brine interrupt?

It's not the Santal 33 fix but it's also not a bad scent. I did find the cardamom to be very upfront and a bit sharp for my liking. I didn't smell the pickles.

Definitely trying to be Santal 33, but too much undecavertol. To my nose, instead of soft sweet santal, smells like salad. I’ll stick with Le Labo.

To me, this smells like manly pickles, but I like it. I wear it to bed.

woody citrus, really fresh and similar to santal 33

smells like it's trying to be santal 33, but it reminds me more of orabella salted muse since this has a strange green salty note in it that reminds me of olives. maybe that's the papyrus, i don't know. in general this is a lighter and greener than other santal 33 lookalikes, even the cardamom reads greener to me. it's also a bit more one dimensional than santal 33, though i swear this has a barely sweet vanilla note in the base i dislike this, even though i like the scent profile of spiced sandalwood, mostly because of the olivey quality i get. i just have a thing about olives. that said, i can imagine someone who prefers a greener santal 33 clone liking this, especially for the price point

Smells like a high-end air freshener or candle but not to be worn. Screechy and pickle juice to me. I could see others liking it but not me. I had to scrub it off and it stayed on LONG on my sleeve lol.

I also got a pickle juice note in Jungle Santal -- not as much as in I'm A Musk, but still too pickle juicy for me to actually wear.

I started out thinking this one was ok, but the longer it sat on me, the more I started to hate it. :( All I smell is pickles that have been left inside a 100 year old piece of wooden furniture that has been forgotten in the back of an antique store. But if you are looking for something that lasts FOREVER, this is absolutely the one—I washed my arm 3 times in the shower and can STILL smell it on me. I can’t vouch for how long it actually would last if you wore it all day but it feels eternal to me. Of course it’s one of the few smells I can’t stand HA

I bought this because I heard it was a dupe for Santal 33 and I'd been on a quest for a sandalwood forward scent. I dont think I've ever disliked a fragrance more. It's like paddling through a swamp on a hot day. I get why some people say pickles but they're being kind. I still have it bc I like the bottle but I will cry if it ever breaks inside my house.

TS IS ACTUALLY SO BAD.. i own this because im ftm and wanted to smell masculine, but it doesnt even last 30 minutes, and smells like straight up pickles or some unfounded scent of nightmarish hells, my disney princess hairspray detangler from 12 years ago smells and last better than this..

Only tested this because it was on clearance and lemme tell you it’s on clearance for a reason! Smells like straight dill pickle, then the dill pickle's dipped in wet dirt. Couldn't wait to get home and scrub this off my hand. Not for me lol.

something about this perfume just smells like lake fish to me. it makes me sick to my stomach every time i get a whiff of it

Cardamon, green, woods - a bit medicinal. Very nice. You probably have to like weird green stuff in order for this one to appeal. Despite the spicy opening, there is a freshness. To my nose, the green notes dominate, and I can’t help but think of green wood. Trees stripped of young branches and those branches stripped of their bark reveal a young wood with pale tinges of green, and an almost bitter bite. There’s an edge of something piney and terpenic woven through, and just the slightest ribbon of creamy sandalwood that ties everything together. It’s cool, but not chilled. It’s green, but medicinal, like a tea or tincture, not vegetal. It’s matte, not sparkling. It’s doesn’t smell like a jungle, it’s more like a pine forest in winter. I suppose to some this is an incomplete fragrance. It’s definitely minimalist. It unfolds once or twice and only lasts a few hours. I really enjoy it.

I think I ruined myself on this particular DNA because I purchase the Santal fragrance oil for my diffuser at home. I associate this with a home fragrance now, and just cannot rewire my brain to appreciate it as a perfume. Regardless, the performance is great for a $30 target EDP. It is very earthy. This gives me Christmas candle vibes and unless you’re open to that you will not like this. I’ve found that it can get cloying after a bit of time. I almost avoid getting whiffs of my wrist because it gets on my nerves after a while. It’s like I get a whiff and think to myself, “great, I smell like my living room.” It’s so bazaar because I LOVE this for my house, just not for my skin I guess. I’ll use it as a room spray and keep it moving. If you’re a gourmand, or fruity/floral lover this is probably not going to be for you.

One reviewer said it perfectly. “You probably need to like green woody stuff for this to appeal to you.” Don’t bother-if you want to smell like a cupcake covered in caramel for sure. The hate for this fragrance seems unwarranted though. I have Santal 33 and to say it’s not close is silly because it absolutely is. To say it’s not as smooth is fair, but its very good and actually a little stronger on my skin. Yes, I said it. A $30 Target scent is stronger on my body than a $300 Frenchie Le Labo Masterpiece but such is life. If you just hate the scent, thinks it played out, smells like pickles well, I am unable to help you but I will continue to applaud a fragrance house that continues to surprise and uplift the scent harlot I have turned into.

Synthetic sandalwood turns to dill pickle on me, but I actually like that! Where I have an issue is the drydown, where it turns into a very synthetic-smelling dry wood that, while not unpleasant, kinda takes over EVERYTHING else. Jungle Santal isn't the worst offender in this regard, but this fragrance really isn't for me. It's a shame because I LOVE the opening. The cardamom and tea give a spicy earthiness and there is a definite humid jungle vibe. I have a 2 oz bottle in the original box, only a few sprays missing, for sale/trade; PM me!

This one is definitely a nice, fresh, unisex option IMO, from Fine'ry. Jungle Santal may not be a dupe of Le Labo's Santal 44, but I do feel like I smell the same green/wood note in this, that I get from Le Labo's Vanille 44 perfume. I think that Wwoman describes this perfectly in describing, "...the contrast between dry wood and watery green notes..." I definitely get the wood and the green on Jungle Santal. I also agree that this one from Fine'ry is has amazing longevity! All day into the next, depending on how your spray this one!

Woody, dry, matte, and mulchy. Like pencil shavings, scrub grass, and leather so dry and brittle it's crumbling. No moisture, no sweetness. I find this more dusty and earthen than green, though I do get a little hint of sourness like the bare suggestion of a pickle note. This is definitely similar to Santal 33 , IMO, but a little flatter, with less of a leather note, and with a slight edge of sourness that I don't get from Santal 33 . I do prefer Santal 33 , but for the price you could certainly do worse than Fine'ry's version.
