The New Rouge

Never did I ever think I'd smell a nice 'cotton candy' style fragrance but here we are. Walked around the store with it and ended up grabbing a mini for the rest of winter/the cold midwestern spring. Smells downright cozy. Sweet, woody, a little vague and synthetic for sure, but not in a cleaning products way, more in a "expensive, loud music bumping store at the mall" type of way. As far as the sweetness goes, I grew up with those Walgreens clones of Angel that could knock your @ss out cold, and this *is* reminiscent of those, but in a buttoned up, downright inoffensive way. 'Angel' and 'inoffensive' shouldn't compute to my nose, personally and historically, but this somehow does. Yeah, cotton candy can be tolerable, maybe even enjoyable for someone in their 30s. Who knew? Obligatory "never have I ever smelled BR540" stamp, but this still smells remarkably nice and lasts long, for the price.

I recommend for men! (The mist) Its smells like the EDP of BR 540 without all the girly florals in the opening. It’s goes right into the woody dry down smell and focuses more on being more sweet and woody than floral. Reminds me of armaf untold more than BR 540 but still not quite. For the price...there is no reason to sit here and knit-pick something i payed less than $15 for. Its does more than get the job done. Don’t wear it if you don’t like attention and you have no game lol People will notice you! Spray on clothes if you want it to stick around all day. It also layers notice with others. Its pretty much a steal for the price, and in air it does smell just like BR 540 dried down. Get the mist, no need for the perfume

Not exactly BCR, but close enough for anyone looking for an affordable dupe. I compared to a sample of the original, while this has that tiny bit of powder in it, it's still great. It dries down with a bit less sweetness on my skin. I smell if for hours and am very happy with the FB I blind bought. This is similar to Phur Amber Haze (which I also own and like), but New Rouge has less of the bandaid smell to me (although Phlur is still good, the bandaid is only there there deep down). I would say either are good if you don't have 300 bucks to spend on a FB of BCR. (I do not have 300 bucks for this, and only have the sample).

Yup, Baccarat 540 all the way. I went to Target and they happened to have a tester for this . I didn’t have any idea that Finer’y has a BR540 clone but when I saw that the notes included saffron - I was intrigued and the first spray (all the way home) made me think of Baccarat Rouge 540 in a really pleasing and inoffensive way. To be honest, I also own Ariana Grande’s Cloud perfume and it can be really cloying. Finer’y ’s fragrance is smooth and has amazing longevity - with the DNA not changing as hours passed by. I didn’t buy a bottle. I have a full Baccarat 540 at home but if I didn’t , I will purchase this VS Cloud.

For anyone wondering, the notes are: Golden Saffron, Amber Resin, and Sandalwood. I've never smelled Baccarat, but I can see where the Cloud comparison comes from. This is sort of like a dark Cloud with a resinous spice. In fact, the Cloud aspects are more in the background. Imagine being seated in front of a fire in a lodge late at night, a warm spiced sweet drink in hand. I really like this. I also like Cloud, and they're different enough to suit different feelings and occasions. Cloud is frothy and creamy. The New Rouge is dark and smoked. Both are sweet.

I love this fragrance. Love it. I put it on to go to bed even. But, the sillage is disappointingly not there. I decided to buy the fragrance wardrobe from Maison Francaise Kurkdjian to see if the authentic BR540 endured better. It didn’t and the sillage is also poor! I think musks aren’t ever good for projecting. The finery is really alike the kurkdjian - but MFK BR540 dries down sweeter- like cotton candy. The finery is slightly muskier- more unisex, which i prefer.

A good BR540 dupe *without* the bandaid/medicinal smell! Probably because Fine'ry isn't using as much saffron, but regardless I love this one. It's an easy 'dumb reach' when I want to smell nice and expensive without having to think hard. Not fruity, not floral, not gourmand, not fresh, not woody... just sweet and rich. The notes are listed on their site as: -golden saffron -amber resin -sandalwood I think that's spot on, and really lovely. Glad I impulse-bought it!

i couldn't stop thinking about this scent after i sprayed it on my hand at target and i had to go back and buy it. i've yet to smell br540, so i can't attest to it's similarity; however, this scent to me smells very clean and fresh and sweet. i smell the similarities it has with cloud, but to me it has a less feminine, more mature, and a more well rounded and complex note combination. extremely good for the price and great for saffron lovers.

I know that this is supposed to be a dupe for baccarat rouge, I’ve unfortunately never had the chance to sample that perfume. However, what I will say is that this perfume smells amazing!! It’s funny because I can’t quite put my finger on a specific note, I would say it’s a very unisex, enticing, sexy scent. Good for a night out.

This is good. In have a few BCR dupes but there is something about this one that stands out to me more than the others. I am fighting myself to not buy this but I loved the longevity on this one and the fact that I could smell it the whole time was very nice. Ugh! I may have to get this eventually! :(

It’s so effing good. It’s addicting and I get many compliments on it. I recently discovered that Dossier Ambery Saffron is also a delicious take on BR540 so I’ve been layering the two with success. 10/10 yum.

This is a really good dupe for BR540. Somewhere in the middle it smells very different but once dries down it’s a great scent. I’d definitely recommend.

I fucking love this scent and it's what I wear everyday next to burberry her . it doesn't last a long time so I do have to reapply as the day goes by but I love it so much I don't even care. I have never smelled BR540 so I can't give my opinion on that fragrance but I can with this one to my noise it is clean but not fresh, it has a slight sweet quality and that mixed with that wonderful saffron and woods is pure heaven. I don't get any amber though, this perfume has no warmth to it at all. that being said I have smelled cloud and that one is much sweeter in my opinion I do think burberry her is similar but different enough that they still aren't quite the same also the new rouge is unisex I can see anyone wearing this unlike would cloud and burberry her and with the price you really can't pass it up

This is another BR540 "scent for less" that can be found pretty easily at Target. Target may also have some test sprayers that you can use to test this out for yourself. I enjoy this scent profile so much! As a result, I've tried a lot of different perfumes in this genre, and I think The New Rouge does a good job with the scent, but I wish the longevity were longer and the sillage were stronger. I got this in a discovery set, and I don't plan to repurchase a full bottle since I already own a few other options with this scent profile. I think you want to try out the BR540 DNA without spending a ton a money, this is a good option!

I want to start by saying I actually dislike most ambergris/Ambroxan style fragrances but I like this. I didn’t like the original BR540 and I couldn’t handle Ariana Grande’s Cloud. But this is somehow composed differently with something more metallic in the drydown. I don’t know why, but I don’t mind smelling like sweet industrial metal work. It is like the texture of a fine grain sand paper to my nose. Not too strong for me. I didn’t go anosmic on this one and it mixed well with my chemistry.

I do like this fragrance, so please view what I'm about to say through that lens. This smells like freshly-cooked fast food french fries. I think it's the saffron. I think that's just what saffron smells like on me, because I've had the same experience with other fragrances that are saffron forward. French fries straight out of the deep fryer. I see that other people in the comments are picking up sweet notes, but I don't get any of that. Just french fries.

Light, sugary, slightly spicy cotton candy. Very easy to go anosmic on this one, there were a few months where I couldn't smell it at all. My first impression of it is very different from how I currently smell it and I'm not sure if that's because it had time to mature or what, but it smelled pretty masculine and almost shampoo like when I first got it 7ish months ago. It was also a lot stronger at first, but I like what it's become.

This is like every dupe of MFK’s Baccarat in that it has a kind of dusty opening that Baccarat doesn’t. It’s not nearly as loud as other dupes and sits closer to the skin. It’s nice and sweet and stays on clothing really well. For $15 this is an easy and affordable option that performs more like a skin scent. I prefer it to Cloud or Dossier’s Ambery Saffron because of the price and performance.

A grown up, unisex Cloud. Like if Vanilla Woods had a baby with By The Fireplace, emotionally neglected it for its entire life and then sent that baby to a prestigious Vermont liberal arts college where it studies Latin and drinks neat whiskey and engages in ambiguous bisexuality. I have never smelled Baccarat. 8/10. Date night scent.

This is a BR540 dupe, so if you like that scent and similar ones to it, then this will be a good inexpensive alternative for those who aren't BR540 purists.

I’ve never smelled BCR 540 so can’t comment on this as a dupe, but I can say it’s more interesting than your average $28 bottle. Dry wood, amber on the dry down. It’s perfectly unisex but it is not necessarily a crowd pleaser. I wish it had more saffron and something a touch sweeter. It works to layer it with a tiny bit of Sweet on the Outside, also from Target. I also have Sweven from Oakcha (another BCR dupe) and I think that’s a better fragrance for a slightly higher price. More saffron and almost a non-sweet honey accord. Wish I had FSed that one instead, but I’ll use up the New Rouge first.

I’ve never smelled Baccarat Rouge, but this does kind of smell like the B&BW BR dupe. It also reminds me of Snif’s Soda Snob and Fantasy by Britney Spears. Target says the notes are saffron, amber, and sandalwood but I’m getting cotton candy and cola, it just reminds me of sticky spilled soda and sugar. It’s not bad but I would love more saffron and woodiness to balance the sweetness.

while it smells nice — this scent profile has been done way too many times for me to appreciate it. faded on my skin in 5 minutes. could layer this with all the other fragrance in the “reminds me of” definitely cheap if you get the body mist but i wouldn’t go for the EDP as you can get more bang for your buck with other options.

It is BUT it isn’t a BR540 dupe. It is reminiscent, but much less complex, and less expensive smelling. For the price point, I think this is to be expected. I’m a fan of this scent for what it is; a good affordable dupe. I take this out with me for retouches when I use the real BR540 when I’m out and about.

I think Red Temptation from Zara is a much better BR540 dupe. To my nose at least, the evernyl in this is a little ham-fisted. I think Red Temptation is blended better.

I can definitely smell the baccarat rouge inspiration, but there is some sort of super odd smell that accompanies it...some people are saying fast food? I smell some sort of rancid oil smell, some astringency, or like some kind of skincare product that went bad. This has to be my least favorite perfume that I've ever skin tested, and I was really looking forward to trying it because of the hype. I came home and scrubbed it off with soap and water and can still smell it on my skin, but thankfully the rancid note has gone away and it smells like sweet vanilla now. So I suppose the lasting power is really good, since it won't wash off!

honeyed amber, aromatic with a slight alcohol tinge that makes this read a bit like rum or scotch. intensely sweet with a peppery spice and a strange hint of lactonicness. there's a slight floral note if i search for it. the wood in this is odd and synthetic i have no idea what baccarat rouge 540 smells like, which this is apparently meant to dupe, but i am not a fan of this scent at all. sweet amber smells so sickly to me, like rotting fruit

I loved this when I first applied it but a strong, sharp note quickly appeared and literally burned my nose. I have no clue what it was but let me tell you: this stuff has tenacity! I scrubbed and even showered and could still smell a bit of it. I'm really bummed because it was so nice at first. Ah well....

Amberwood bomb. If this is a dupe for BR540 then I would hate that as well. Smells cheap to me. Phony woody notes. Smells like a wood shop class in Barbie World.

I admit, I'm a shameless lover of BR540 and that particular type of sugared, sparkling air scent. I found In the Stars from Bath and Body Works first actually, then proceeded to try Baccarat Rouge 540 itself, then Ariana Grande's Cloud...etc. I like or love most of the BR540-cousin fragrances there are out there (not Burberry Her though, due to the syrupy fruit). But I truly don't enjoy this. I don't think it's a decent dupe whatsoever, and there's something grimey in the background. The ambery tone (or, maybe it's the component that is supposed to account for "saffron"?) is somehow warm, but stuffy and suffocating. I really struggle to describe it, but it's quite bothersome and throws off the rest of what might've been an enjoyable composition. And please, I adore a good cheapie (check my wardrobe if you require proof, I'm 180° away from snobbery), but this isn't *good*.

My local Target has had a tester of this for a few months, but never had it in stock when I was there. Last week I lucked out, and was able to buy one. The tester smells really nice, almost exactly like BR540 in my opinion, just without the ridiculous sillage that makes it frowned upon in work settings. The bottle I purchased isn't the same. It smells like straight rubbing alcohol, and its LOUD. I sprayed a single spray in my bathroom, and my whole house reeked. I had to close my bathroom door and leave a fan on with the windows open in order for the stench to go away. My eyes were watering, it was that bad. I'm not sure if my bottle is bad, or what, but I've never had a bottle of perfume perform this way. So be warned, some batches might be messed up.

my first impression of this perfume was walking into the break room at work and being struck with the sickly sweet smell of rotten food, only to realize it was a coworker's perfume. the scent filled the breakroom, lingering for a good hour and radiating off of said coworker, i spent the last hour of my shift holding my breath only to discover he had sprayed it on my jacket. i drove home with the windows down, and immediately washed my jacket. everytime i smell it my stomach turns, a visceral reaction to the smell of rot. it has a slight plasticity note, like food thats molded in a tupperware. the only "positive" thing i can say is it has incredible longevity on clothing and a headache inducing projection.

God Bless AMERICA this smells just like BR540, don't ask me WHY I bought it. Maybe I had Covid & my nose wasn't working. If you follow me, you know anything that remotely smells like that sickens me. With that being said, I LOVE me some realistic Cotton Candy scents, Even Body Fantasies! But this, UGHHH., it isn't even worth selling, so I'll be giving it away. It's a HATE.

Interestingly, I've never smelled the original Baccarat Rouge 540. That said, I HAVE smelled Cloud and other maltitol-rich releases of late, which do resemble this somewhat. And I DID receive a complement while wearing The New Rouge, meaning that I also smell good in saffron-maltitol-wood. :) This is a positive. On the negative side... I used three sprays on one arm and got very little projection. I would have to spray The New Rouge on fabric to get a nice little scent cloud. This is not the body spray, but the perfume, so I am not recommending this particular interpretation of the beloved scent profile. With the phenomenal performance of middle eastern dupe companies (oils or sprays) in general, those would be my value choice. I need more panache, thank you! If you love bold fragrance STYLE without wishing to smell at all bold, this is your jam. For me, a nice try, but no carrot.

This is a great dupe! I noticed the biggest difference in the opening and the sillage. BR540 is a touch floral and much smoother upon application. The New Rouge is rough and gives you a shot of alcohol that makes me dislike it for the first few minutes. If you wait it smooths out and is almost spot on to the real thing! To my nose BR540 has monster sillage - like 6-10 feet and it just hops and floats in the air behind the person with the sweetness of cotton candy. The New Rouge sillage is maybe an arms length with light application and the sweetness is thicker and heavier. I can detect this for 8-10 hours on clothes, but it doesn’t last on skin. If you go nose blind, put it away for a few weeks and the revisit it. Honestly, this is lovely for $30. You just have to endure a bit of harshness to get to the prize!

I have been using this sample lately, and I quite like it! To me, there's a smoky, incense-y quality there. The scent is still on the jewelry I wore 5 days ago. I've never had a scent stick to my jewelry like that. I noticed a creamy, musky note. I think I'm pretty picky about frags and although I like this, I'm not sure I love it enough for myself atp to purchase a bottle. Yet. It is also sweet and candy-like, and almost cinnamon-y? and does have a liiil bit of a masculine flare with it's mild spiciness. I was nervous to try this one after reading a comment about it smelling like rancid garbage. I think there is perhaps a bit of a funkiness to it, but not in a bad way. Maybe punchy is a better word. Like it adds depth, and isn't offensive to the nose

I would argue that this is a good BR540 dupe. It is not nearly as complex and leans sweeter than 540, but as someone who likes sweet perfumes this was a positive for me. I also think for the $30 price point, this difference is to be expected. I do not smell a similarity between this and Cloud. Cloud is significantly sweeter and more 2 dimensional. I find The New Rouge to be well-rounded and more complex than cloud. The sillage and lasting power of this perfume are INTENSE. Two sprays in the morning last well until the end of a 12 hour work day; a little truly goes a long way. If you want BR540 at an affordable price point, I would definitely encourage you to smell this at your local Target.

On Sunday I sprayed this perfume on my shirt and then decided not to wear that shirt. Today (Wednesday) I decided I was gonna wear that shirt and I could still smell the perfume pretty strongly! It lasts okay on skin but SO long on clothes. I work in a hospital with patients so I just do one spray on my shirt and I get so many compliments. Specifically patients will tell me I smell good but it’s not too overbearing. Every shift I get at least 1 person asking me what I’m wearing and I get so excited to tell them it’s literally a target perfume. I also think it’s a nearly identical baccarat dupe but I don’t have the most refined nose so take with that what you will.

Sprayed this on myself at target. At first I was like, "hmm this smells like cloud/good chemistry coffee cloud" then realized they're all dupes of the same fragrance. I have never smelled the OG, but safe to say, I'm not tempted. I've smelled this type of fragrance out in the wild quite a bit, and definitely do not want to smell like this. That being said, the sillage and longevity is pretty good, so if you're considering it, that's something. Bad for me cuz now I have a headache. I'll go look for the aspirin...*sigh*

I have never sampled Baccarat Rouge, but I tested this at Target, and have clearly smelled it a million times before on other people, whether it be dupes or the real deal. I like it though and bought it for myself. It lasted even after I showered. I think it smells very similar to Khamrah and Kismet Angel, which I both have. Each one differs by only a few notes. It’s heavy, spicy, sweet. People will smell you before they see you, it’s that strong. It says it’s for women, but it’s definitely unisex. Great price, too.

I didn’t find this sweet on me at all, compared to some reviews. I tried the perfume, not the body spray. I really love it, as it reminds me of both Cloud and Dream Moon by Pacifica, but less sweet than both. It reminds me of being by the ocean, and the mist and breeze. It’s really good for layering too. I think it’s a good skin scent/daily scent.

This is not sweet at all on me. Soooo woody and sooo saffrony. Will definitely be saving this for the winter where it doesn't feel so heavy. If you want the smell of BR540 I'd say this is pretty similar, but there are a lot more unique similarly priced fragrances out there that I reach for way more often.

I tried this on my wrist, and it just smells like rubbing alcohol to me. I kept smelling it over the course of a few hours, and I never picked up any other note. My boyfriend says it smells like a green plant though. Although it is inexpensive, make sure to test this before you buy it.

Exactly what the world did not need, another cloud (a wannabe BR540) dupe. It's signed, sealed, and delivered that, sadly, Baccarat rouge is a bygone deal for fragrance lovers. Cooked. Well done. Over & out. ✌🏻

Great dupe for BR and I have to agree with zekeshockley_fc that this is great for men. I almost think it leans more masculine...

I think this is the best BR540 dupe IMO— Although the longevity and sillage don't come anywhere close!
