Fischersund No. 101

#117 of My Fragrance Journey - Fischersund No. 101: A memory of somewhere you've never been. It starts with a sharp intake of breath. Cold air that isn't harsh - just there, suddenly, like stepping outside earlier than intended. You've never been to this place. But the ache of it arrives before you've even placed it. The opening is green and jagged. Citrus first, then something wilder takes over - pine, crushed grass, wet herbs, and this cold metallic note that isn't sterile. More like rainwater sitting in an old garden chair left outside too long. The bitterness is spiky, intensely green, like uprooted weeds still carrying soil on the roots. It doesn't ease you in. It just exists - defiant, alive, and slightly confrontational about it. And somehow that's exactly the thing that makes you keep smelling your wrist. Blackcurrant comes through as it opens up, but not the jam version. Unripe, tart, green-purple rather than dark red. Chervil and dried herbs folding in around it. The whole thing starts to feel less like a fragrance and more like a sequence of fragments - wet pavement, crushed stems on your fingers, early morning light stretching too long across grass and concrete. There's something Icelandic in it, genuinely. Not warmth - pale illumination. The kind of light that doesn't quite know when to stop. A soft lily appears somewhere in the middle, barely floral, just enough to take the sharpest edge off the green. Cumin adds a restrained warmth that never tips into anything uncomfortable. And eventually it settles - woody, herbal, faintly musky, a quieter version of what it started as. Still carrying traces of the original wildness, just further back now. This isn't for everyone. If you want clean woods or polished freshness, the opening alone might be too much. It's raw, and it knows it. But if it gets you - and it either does, or it doesn't - it becomes the kind of thing you keep returning to. Finding something new each time. Like walking the same unfamiliar street until it starts to feel like yours. It holds the quiet confidence of a place that doesn't need to be discovered to stay true. Vibe: Rusted iron, crushed green stems, pale light that refuses to fade. Performance: Moderate - the wild opening softens significantly, settles close and intimate by the dry hours. Fit: You wear this when you want to feel somewhere else entirely - somewhere colder, stranger, more alive than wherever you actually are. Absolutely adore this fragrance. I received a sample from Ministry of Scent when I was blind-buying a ton of small ones from them. I had no idea what to expect from this and thankfully it paid off. I was immediately transported to a place I've never been (the Iceland in summer lol) and felt so moved by the impressive assortment of notes. This scent gives off a smokey aura that was initially off-putting as I had never tried a tobacco or incense-style fragrance before; however, the more I smelled the more I fell in love. You can catch hints of green in the initial spray and it matures to an earthier version of that scent as the fragrance dries. I noticed some aquatic notes similar to Laromatica's Seafaring Man as well. The piney elements come through in No. 101 once it starts to dry and it combines in a lovely way with the smokey notes. Everything works in conjunction to present you with a really mature fragrance and it only gets better as it sits on one's skin. Love this scent for summer in places like Maine or Scandinavia; would work amazingly as a winter scent in coastal areas as well if it gets cold there :)

This is really something special. I first encountered Fischersund by listening to their podcast episode on Perfume Room with Emma Vernon, and subsequently checking out their stunning Faux Flora exhibit at the National Nordic Museum in Seattle. No. 101 is very fresh and authentically herbaceous. It smells lush and full of life. Longevity is really good (6+ hours), and the scent doesn’t shift dramatically throughout the day. There’s a lot of thought that went behind this scent. It is accompanied by a song, poem, and video, that make the entire experience incredibly immersive and multi-sensory. No. 101 is addictive, and it takes me to somewhere I’ve never been - somehow, I feel nostalgic for an upbringing in Iceland that I never had.

Another lovely green scent from Fischersund! Like No. 8, it opens with intense, almost bitter notes of vegetation, a thicket from which you emerge into pavement with dandelions growing through the cracks. These warm greens are cut with a fresh note of cold air, as though the sun is about to not-quite-set although it's past midnight. I had a hard time detecting any vanilla or musk scent, finding the greens and mineral notes to dominate. The woody note in particular reminds me of the scent of a large piece of petrified wood I have. The blend of dry rock and wet herbaceous plants makes this scent feel very narrative and compelling. I find it easy to wear to work, and reasonably long lasting.

i took this home as a souvenir, and every time i smell it i'm transported back to iceland (we wore it every day there under our scarves) so that probably makes me incredibly biased, BUT i honestly feel like it would transport anyone to iceland. it's the perfect herbal, wet, cold, lightly fruity scent. definitely green witch vibes, but not really heavy or anything. maybe green fairy?? i bought the solid perfume, which unfortunately really irritates my skin to the point that i choose not to wear it anymore. i would love to buy a bottle instead someday, or a discovery set, or just go back there myself in person 🫣 someday...

Absolutely blown away by this scent. Smells like the slow inhale on an icy mountain top surrounded by firs. It has the cool ashy smokiness of menthol cigarettes and car seats treated with pine scented leather oil, but less chemically harsh. It’s green and it’s cold, and it makes me feel like an Icelandic lumberjack. My boyfriend is sensitive to perfume and doesn’t like a lot of them, but really likes this on him and on me.

My favorite souvenir from Iceland. 101 is inspired by city life unlike their other scents, and that is what made it very special to me. If you read the poem it really takes you there to the gardens of Reykjavík after party and it describes the scent so perfectly. It is not an everyday scent for me, but it is such a vibe and super addictive, too. Perfect for cold rainy days or a bit witchy mood :)

Perfect souvenir from Iceland. Their store is a beautiful scent and art gallery. No 101 reminds me of the time I spent in Iceland which is exactly what I was looking for.

I was skeptical about the vanilla note, but it works great. This is the probably the best of their numbered fragrances.

No.101 is forward on the smoke note immediately, it initially has a bit of sharpness to it but this quickly fades, in the first minute or two. It still has the distinct smokey peet like Fischersund DNA but it smells like someone has taken all of those notes and muted them a bit. There are notes of green along with a wet salty sea like note as well that are distinctly different from the smokey peet note but at the same time are mixed into it. The green is a very mild pine & herbaceous note. The perfomace on No.101 is quite nice; while not being dominanting. For longevity it lasted just over 6 hours on my skin and the same on my clothing. A 6/10 for longevity. The projection was surprisingly low for the strength of the notes, rising about a foot off my skin at the strongest and staying here for around the first 4 hours before fading away over the last two. A 7/10 for projection. Overall I really like No.101; it feels a lot more approachable then some of the other fragrances from Fischersund & easier to wear. At the same time it sufferes from the issue some fragrance houses seem to have of all of their fragrances sharing the same DNA. It has the dark peet smokey note they seems to be Fischersunds signature. That said I think green note & wet sea salt note help to cut this signature note back in a very good way. It’s a 8/10 for me.

It’s insane how I don’t usually enjoy fruity or vanilla fragrances yet with this is how this is composed it doesn’t really strike me as a vanilla fruity fragrance- it’s not something I’ve ever experienced before this way tbh It’s more of a artistic expression of something green sweet and almost like a cold breath of fresh air Longevity is solid at 8 hours

A lighter and more fresh Fischersund. There is a distinct bitter opening note that I like. And then an evergreen base and finish. Feels very LIGHTLY forest and meadow and earthy. Great spring day fragrance. Good performance with moderate projection (lighter than most from Fischersund) and solid 8 hour wear.

cold cigarette butts in a rain soaked balcony railing flower pot. water smells the way rain water sometimes smells in big cities when it rains during peaks of air pollution. energetically it’s the same colour as dehydrated piss. develops into the scent of freshly moistened thick yellow-green hollow stems.

This starts out smelling like an old timy min chocolate we use to have here in Sweden. Then I get lots of different (slightly bitter) plant matter. Mellows down to soft, slightly sweet aquatic. Long lasting on the skin.

It was my least favourite from the set after Utilykt and 8. It smells straight burning tar or even rubber. But the perfume undergoes an amazing transformation: in the drydown it gives the most gorgeous, seductive and unique citrus.

31 July 2025 - a little high lol, skin smells a little bitter? - omg no alcohol sting?? - smoke smell, then some forest smell. Up close, the smell is much sweeter, but in flower way not gourmand. So so good! (Especially when I don't like the smell of my skin right now. Need to try on a different day). Could be the Angelica or the Violet Woodsorrel (Oxalis) or the Parsley (with a tiny vanilla?) or the Snow (or and since a little metallic anyway?). Idk but I like it. **I want to try more parsley scents, like parsley and strawberries** It is softening away from floral to woody? Maybe more snow here actually. (maybe my skin smells like snow? Like a little mineral and metallic snowstorm lightning like? Is metallic smell like thunderstorm?? Lol so many thoughts). Or maybe bergamot and smoke? (Omg bergamot doesn't have an N just before the T????) "captures our summers"??? Oh maybe like in a meadowy iceland/Norway/Forence Pugue horror film place Sweden? way?) Sprayed again just to get the sweetness again Also I think it's missing deepness - like almost literally. When top and middle fade, feels like an empty space, a pregrannt pause, the wait before the music drops (lol). But in a missing / empty vacuum way (oooo wonder if the space perfume smells like this? or at least a little metallic? Lol be yt and they gib.) Website has different notes: Top Notes - Black Currants, Chervil (parsley family) Middle Notes - Cumin, Cypriol, Lily Base Notes - Limbwood, Musk, Vanilla ooooo things make a lot more sense now. DEEEEFinitely the Chervil smell at first. As that dies down, then Cypriol and Lily (just a hint, like in a good way juuuust enough) Something almost a little mediciny? is that the Chervil? (oh definitely if like anise and fennel) And like a stick of cumin? Or actually cinnamon bark? (like uncooked) definitely that woody bark kind of smell but it is a little dusty/dry like dry stick of cinnamon? This scent is so interesting - it definitely feels like a place or memory idea (like that one from Diptique which I keep mentioning) I wonder how I'll feel about the scent later i.e. if it would wear out or not (if my skin smelled sweet instead, if not night time, if not tired and h, etc.) . I wanted to think of this more as an English country cottage thing (like the other cottage perfume I have) but it's not the same at all. It's definitely reminding me of another kind of place. (That scent definitely gave me visual cues - vision board picture kind of thing - I hope I wrote it down somewhere). Uggggg I looove this sweetish smell - it might actually be the wood sorrel (rounded out by Angelica)? I reeaaaallly really like this right now. but not in a way that I want to wear. Like it might be wearable art (like a dress) but it's the kind of artwork I'd rather hang up and look at in detail but otherwise keep safe and displayed.) Veeeeery interesting. I'd put this in the memory/feeling category of scents. I personally wouldn't wear it, but I feel like this is stereotypical "green witch" - on a green witch vision/inspo board lol, and I genuinely mean that in a super positive way So interesting and unique. Also in the library like the space scent. (reminds me of the photo show every year Definitely on the cooler side of things, but like a cold(more cool) but very very long sun day (because so far north) It does seem like these perfumes are less long lasting than most of the other perfumes I've had. Maybe that's fair because they're so unique, but there is something 'sticky' that isn't here (though maybe that's because it's missing a note that would do that but also change the smell of things? It looks like my review for No 8 was also saying that that one felt like a memory Yeah neither one of the Fischersund perfumes seem like they last very long. Fine from an art perspective. But from someone spending a large percentage of their disposable income on a bottle, it feels like rude and disappointing from an economic standpoint. Kind of feel like it's better to try the other Fischersund perfumes right now (SINCE they don't last) vs others, except for the fact that they will all probably have the same metalic / storm scent in them. (Though is that sooo bad? Especially since no one else does?? (Is that note just really expensive or short lasting or something?)

It's woody, cold, smoky, with a hint of chemical/rubbery scent. Sorta like being in some cool woodworker's tool shed in the early morning in the freezing mountains. It's dewy, there's a fireplace on, or something smaller, that's keeping the temperature tolerable but not warm by any means. Its quite addictive and attractive, but more mystery than payoff if that makes any sense. Wear this on a light hiking date on a cold day after rain in the PNW and you're pulling for sure.

Woody with floral tones, hint of pickle. Okay, not hugely loved, but an excellent blend if you like the Bois d’Balincourt type of woods.
