Palm Springs for Spencer Hart

I share what Jamiljames experienced. I had a small sample vial, and was quick to judge it, so it cast to the back of the pile. There is a bitter, rather angular brashness about the first whiff, and that had put me off. It aims to get noticed. However, when I came back round to sampling it again, I gave it more time. Sitting outside in garden during the long early summer days, allowed me a more patient approach to this perfume. I was rewarded. Bitter, strapping, Petitgrain with a zing of lime and the merest hint of mandarin, has become a bracing opening I much enjoy. Ylang is used excellently to give a creaminess to what would otherwise be on the 'soapy' side of clean. The perfume has a wonderful density that might be found in natural perfumes, lending it both a natural and old school vibe. Clove oil, at times slightly smokey, quickly becomes prominent and will remain in and around the rest of the proceedings, blending beautifully with reserved vintage amber. What wins it for me is that after an hour or so, and truly exceptional Neroli accord comes to the fore. I'm less than excited by the acclaimed Tom Ford and Acqua di Parma Neroli's, but this is a summer dream. Its deep, thick and just magnificent. The blend tentatively walks a line between bitter/sweet, floral/smokey and its a pleasure to behold. But there is more. In the dry down a sandalwood note expands and expands. It elevates this offering from a summers frolic, into something rather special. Its a fantastic finish I look forward to every time. Those sniffers who judge perfumes by their marketing might well pass this one by - this was an almighty marketing flop by anyone's standards. I almost did myself. Thankfully it worked out this time, and palm springs claims a place amongst my favourite perfumes of the year. All the better, since its my little secret.

i love this perfume. It took me about 3 weeks before I realised that I had to get a bottle. My experience of the Floris fragrances towards the higher pricing point have been good. The honey oud is an amazingly quality perfume. What strikes me about this creation is the smokiness that sits upon the notes. It's a very old time scent which reminds me of early Hollywood black and white films. It smells classic and formal but can also be worn in more informal situations. It suprised me that people do not like this scent more but I can understand that it is one that is not meant for mass universal appeal. I think this is a special creation.

Short hit of petit grain at the top followed by a just a pinch of clove with some orange to round it off, but on my skin quickly transitions to the heart which is a spicy carnation and creamy soapy ylang ylang. It’s really good, as progresses I do get some vanilla but this isn’t a particularly sweet fragrance. I’d describe it as warm, spicy and creamy. I don’t know that I agree that the base is lily as stated below but I sense what you’re picking up, but this isn’t Lys Mediteranee. It’s classy, mature, conservative, and maybe I should get a backup bottle. Any season, day or night, very versatile.

This sample came with my order....I was afraid it was going to be disapointing because of review below....but I realy like it. It is different compared with elite, JF or some other classic scent but refined in its own way and somewhat oriental.

This one took a while...at first, I used too much and was overwhelmed and couldn't discern any notes but clove. But as I learned to use it I really came to appreciate it. A spray behind each ear, and one to the breastplate is plenty. It is by no means a beast; in fact, it is as subtle and as discreet as nearly every other Floris I've tried (Elite is the exception for me. It's too big for me to enjoy.) But using 6 or more sprays isn't going to turn this into a 12 hour fragrance; what it is going to do is spoil your enjoyment of it while it does last. So once I got it dialed in I found myself reaching for it more frequently. It really is a terrific re-creation of a mid century fragrance. I don't know about the rat pack or Palm Springs; I'm a Boston Irishman, so I imagine this fragrance at Hyannisport or the Kennedy White House. A white shirt, shined shoes, a skinny tie (with a tie bar pin), and a high and tight haircut with a little Brylcreem to keep the front row of hair standing tall. Noxzema shaving cream. Like bay rum in a tuxedo. After the clove burns off it's a smooth, and I mean smooth amber musky wood that approaches a creamy soapiness. I think of it as a work or a daytime social fragrance for all but the hottest summer weather. Good luck trying to find it, sadly. I got a bottle a couple years ago and when a few bottles appeared on a discount site last year I laid in a spare. I've read several who've commented that the new 007 EdP is quite similar to Palm Springs, but I haven't encountered 007.

I'm surprised it's only been listed here now, Palm springs has been available for purchase for more than a year now in their Jermyn Street Boutique. Anyway - my recollection was deep disappointment with the scent. Something came across as clinical and sharp 'air-freshenery'. I couldn't pick out any distinct notes, but could say it in fact had a marine twist - certainly not what I'd have expected for 'Palm Springs'. Plenty better Florises to be had.

Opens with a pleasant, clove-scented barber shop, followed by icky lavender. Gets sweeter on dry down. No.

5 out of 5. This reminds me of No.89 by Floris but with more focus on the leather, sandalwood and vanila notes. An easy, laid back scent for all ocassions. Would easily buy another one as I could never get tired of this. Another job well done from the Floris team. Much of their perfumes can only be purchased online or from their 'headquarters' at Jermyn Street, London -making this an even more exclusive addition to one's collection.

i bought a sample of this a while back and had to hunt for it because it's discontinued anyways, it's a carnation & vanilla amber bomb - warm, spicy, & sweet medium to strong projection, lasts 5-6 hours

For me it is the dry down after five hours plus that is so stunning. It is absolutely pure Lily; no harsh chemical aroma, just pure, perfect, natural Lily. It has such projection that it fills a room.

I live in Palm Springs and don’t know if this gives off PS vibes.

Does any know if this is primarily for a men or women????

Old school gentleman scent with a bit of harsh carnation.
