The Wonderland

The Wonderland like most Folkwinds offerings is an olfactory transportation to American wilderness. In this case, it is an evocation of the perfumers travels to the beautiful Mount Rainier forests in the Pacific Northwest. The perfume opens with plum, peach and aldehydes. The heart has orris, ivy and narcissus. The perfume settles on a dense bed of oakmoss, sandalwood, oud and musk. Overall, this is another evocative rendering of the joys of the rugged outdoors, but has a unique fruity boozy edge to it. The unisex scent has moderate sillage and good longevity. Enjoy!

The opening is a fruity boom! It's a very boozy peach and plum with some musk, on me the musk fades and I'm left with this pleasant fizzy fruit cocktail for maybe 2 - 3 hrs! Once the fizziness fades on me the plum begins to calm down too and I start to get some earthiness, some times its like hay but at other times its mossy, and throughout this period the oud begins to show its face...but its playing peek-a-boo, its a real tease! Probably about 5 hrs in, I'm walking through the JLR Campus and I know these people walking by me smelled that peachy awesomeness! Though I can't confirm this I am sure one of my colleagues swiped my sample lol I got home and couldn't find it anywhere... if they did, I ain't mad at em...its fire! On my way back home (8 hrs in) I was on the train smelling sandalwood. I almost thought it was someone else because I hadn't picked up on any sandalwood all day but it was surrounding me. Then, back to peach 🍑! I got home (10.5 hrs in) I took my coat off and a WOOSH of peach smacked me lol. Longevity 🍌's! I smelled it all day no problems with the occasional heavy waft, and I was picking it up 2 days later on the shirt I was wearing. I got wafts alllll day. Jono says it wears like an attar, well in my experience attars dont kick ass like that! Fragrances it reminded me of: - A peach that rivals Kiste (as previously stated) - A sweet and sour earthiness at times that reminds me of carnal flower - When that hay and moss accord pops it reminds me of Hendleys Mown. Yet its still something else altogether...super up-lifting. I "wondered" why this is a fall release given the bright nature of it. If I had one wish (Ray J voice) it would be that the oud was present longer on me, it really is nice when it shows up. Nothing fecal, its the perfect compliment to the fruit and moss when its around. Aside from that I'm happy and can't wait to receive the full bottle!!!

This perfume is an absolute gem, one which I can't stop wearing. It opens for me with fuzzy warm peach skin and a hint of boozy plum, musky narcissus, and this deep, creamy, waxy smooth Orris that combines with, I think, black walnut and makes the whole thing so addictive. I can't stop myself from inhaling over and over because I can almost feel the richness, like warm marble that somehow yields and melts to your body heat and envelopes you in it's cloud. As it dries down the sandalwood and musk really kick into high gear and stay omnipresent for HOURS. Longevity on this is wild and the sillage is perfect for the type of perfume, it doesn't necessarily fill a room but if you let someone close, they're not going to want to pull away. This is a small batch and I think the fact that my urge to savor it has been overridden by my urge to wear and smell this ALL THE TIME is a testament to just how good this perfume is. ***I can't forget to mention just how much I enjoy the Folkwinds presentation. The bandanna, the bottles with nice heavy caps and quality atomizers and those wood cork patches.... Folkwinds does it all.

Another Folkwinds success. Wear upon wear I’m greeted by peaches and plums and booze and aldehydes. Quickly followed by a huge dose of orris, deer musk, woods and mosses. Loads of mosses. Beneath it all an ethereal sandalwood. After many hours the peaches and plums fade and the fragrance become orris and moss and oud dominant. Definitely camphorous minty oud.
