The Envy of FOMO

My father owned a bottle of Gucci Envy for Men (2003) (GEM, oh yes it certainly was) when I was a teenager. I remember wearing it to school or when I was going out with friends (2005 - 2010 era). As such, GEM presents a "door" to my childhood memories. Now fast forward a decade and a half, I was in the market for a fragrance and decided to pick up a bottle of good old GEM, only to find out it was discontinued a long time ago :( Recently I found out that FOMO made a fragrance that aims to closely resemble GEM. I am typically not a big fan of dupes, but given the relatively low price point (EUR 35), I thought the downside risk is limited and ordered a bottle. Obviously, this is not the original masterpiece itself, but FOMO aims to get you as close as possible to the original and I have to admit that it does a very good job. Think of GEM as a genuine leather jacket and FOMO as an imitation leather jacket (with good quality). Even though the jackets are not made from the same material, they still feel and look almost equal. Apparently, I am an old mad as this is an "old man's scent" (I am currently 32 y/o). I have to strongly disagree, and I'll tell you why. We are currently located in an era that is dominated by fragrances that tend to be more on the sweeter side, fragrances that have to be accepted by the "crowd" and fragrances that are afraid to stand out. I am talking purely about designer fragrances here because your average Joe is not going to tip his toes in the niche market very quickly. As such, the average Joe is least likely to wear a fragrance that is distinguishing itself from the crowd and hence Envy of FOMO will come across as an old man's perfume (rather than a differentiated one). I guess to each his own. To me, Envy of FOMO/GEM represent an era that was dominated by higher quality fragrances that had the guts to stand out. There was more scent differentiation going on in my opinion and you didn’t need to tap the niche market to get yourself a bottle of good perfume. With having said that, I do acknowledge that I "suffer" from nostalgia and I am attracted to this fragrance simply because it is “different”, which makes this an attractive scent profile for me. The bottle is still new and I only tested it in a colder climate. I might get a more refined experience once the juice has "macerated" a bit and I get the chance to wear it in different climates. So, for I am positively surprised by Envy of FOMO. The fragrance projects well for about 1-2 hours and then remains closer to the skin for about 4-5 hours before it disappears. Not bad performance given the price point.

Well what can I say. Cant afford old bottles of Gucci envy for men? this is helpful. Definitely missing the ginger & cardamom but I can live with that, as to be fair the green juice version didnt have the cardamom as strong in the formula whereas the orginal pale juice did. The green juice had ginger but almost too much compared to the pale juice of the 90s. The dry down of FOMO is very close to the green juice and will scratch the itch. i adore envy with all my heart my favourite fragrance of all time due to nostalgia & so many happy memories. I know for sure my son wouldnt wear it, as its just not what young people like these days, think boring LV imagination is more up their street. This is for a person over 40 who is sick of oud & heavy winter fragrance & wants to smell like they just came from a UK Afro Caribbean barbarshop with a fresh sharp skin fade in the 90s & are on their way to a rave. FOMO has great lasting power & as it warms up on the skin the more of a envy vibe will develop. Gucci are fools for releasing all the rubbish they do & forgetting their will always be a market for the 90s powerhouse frags as the older people all be smelling like the kids now with the bleu chanels & Salvage, imagination lv, ect ect. But YSL are smart enough to know some of us still want those 90s dna's. So thank you to Arabian perfumes FOMO we you took this DNA and did a excellent job for those of us who cant affort stupid resale prices.

DO NOT GIVE UP ON THE OPEN ! I have owned 2 bottles of the original Envy, still have half bottle left from 2010. This was one of my signature scents from High School and I hated using it cuz I know I’ll never find it again. Along came FOMO Envy. I was so hyped for this release , I would’ve camped outside FragBuy to snag it. The first few sprays totally deflated me. The citrus top comes off kinda funky (almost like it’s turned) and you get the DNA in the background. Then, about 15 minutes later that powerful barbershoppy DNA made its entrance. This is undoubtedly Gucci Envy. I give it a score of 95% close because the opening isn’t quite there. I did 3 test sprays on my hand the first day and it overpowered the Millesime Imperial I was wearing. I tried to scrub it off so it doesn’t clash with the frag I was wearing and multiple scrubs wouldn’t remove it. Three months later, I spray it again and the opening is a bit less rough, but just like the first time- Absolutely magical after 15 minutes. I’d say after 15 minutes this is 100% Envy. Do not judge it by the open, be patient and experience the magic of Gucci Envy in the mid & dry down. Monster projector that easily tops the 10hr mark with a great 4-5ft scent bubble in the first 3-4 hrs, then dropping down to a 1-2ft bubble. Never really becoming a skin scent unless you surpass the 10hr mark.

@mateuszolech072 and everybody else. So I just received it. Literary 15 minutes ago, and sprayed it on. This is the first time a fragrance gives me the same scent memory as the one from 1998-1999. I tried Eclat and some other random clone of Gucci envy, but those clones did not give me what this gives. I will let the sit and messarate for 2 weeks and see what is smells like then. I saw the review from Gentscent ,and he said it already smelled better after a little while. This really smells like it. Or at least, gives me the memory from the late90's that the others did not give. I have actually written to clone houses like Armaf , that they should try to make this, I received a nice mail back that they might look into this, but of course until now we have not seen anything. And now MOFO has taken it up in themselves to remake this classic masterpiece. I was so afraid it would not live up to my expectations. But it did! I am over the moon, and I am excited to smell this in a couple of weeks time again to see how it changed. If you know Gucci envy from the 90's, this is the closest I have smelled anything come to it .

OH... WHAT? WAIT A MINUTE ! STOP SCROLLING DOWN and READ THIS. THE ENVY OF FOMO by The house of FOMO 🪵 🌸🍋 Gucci Envy has been my favorite fragrance since 1998 and no release except (La Nuit DE L’ Homme and ALLURE by Chanel) has been able to close it. So, I found this little 💎 (THE ENVY OF FOMO) by the until now an unknown brand. The first whiff made me smile; literally, nostalgically, like when you say "thanks God" for bringing back my memories. I'm amazed how FOMO resembles to Gucci Envy: in fact, this one is much better than the GUCCI’s second batch, the (emerald green) juice. FOMO has this lovely vintage fougere/Mossy nuance; greenish but not grassy. Tendering FLORAL and an appealing SWEET twist. What strikes me most about this fragrance is this WOODY/SMOKY vibe, taken to another level; just fantastic. Just like Gucci, l get that Italian style: elegant and LORDLY. The performance is excellent (another plus). Recommended for formal occasions (weddings, religious, business) all year round. THANK YOU FOMO: THE CHASING FOR MY DEAR GUCCI ENVY IS OVER... Rate🏆

For context, I owned one of the first 100ml batches of Gucci Envy and I still have about 4 or 5 minis left to compare with this clone. Within the first few sprays of The Envy of FOMO I can tell it needs to sit for month to get some depth. It does resemble Gucci Envy, but it lacks the richness of the Sandalwood (I don't believe you can get that quality of sandalwood anymore) that was used in making the original. I can also tell it lacks the subtle backbone of leather and tobacco that Gucci Envy has. There is a smokiness that is missing to my nose. FOMO's comes off a bit cleaner. For $45 this is pretty great. Chances are that it won't smell the exactly same to anyone that has or had a bottle of Gucci Envy since the fragrance is fairly old now at this point, but I think it'll come extremely close. Still though, I think I need to revisit it in a month after spraying it a few more times. Update: this is already getting better. The Sandalwood is getting creamer with that smokiness I get from the OG Envy. I can tell this is gonna be great.

@Bboy555 You haven’t made it too big in your memory, I still have about 70ml of original formula and It’s just... perfect. I mean Daniela Andrier is a magician, she created such a unique scent profile. I have come across similar scents, but nothing was so beautiful. Eclat by its self is great, but side by side with Envy... miles away. Floris Santal seems similar, but it’s not very similar. The thing with FOMO is that what they did imo is a gas chromatography. In the air you may think that this is Gucci Envy, but on skin it has different development. I haven’t tried Covet by Dua. It’s a real tragedy that this unique scent is discontinued, but lately I have found some similarities between Envy and Le Parfum version of La Nuit de L’Homme. I would like to ha a perfect version of Envy, but the access to the secret of this beauty has only one person in the world.

This smells fantastic. However it took a looooong time of sitting to get any sort of longevity out of it. I bought this and 2 others from the hype and figured I'd never buy the OG's. Right out of the box all 3 smelled too good to be true. I did my normal routine with dupes... spray them and put them away for a couple of weeks. I wore this one to work and it disappeared almost immediately. So I put it away for a couple of more weeks and repeated the process. I tried it again for work and the same scenario happened. Did I go nose blind?? Nobody noticed it or said anything. I thought I got got by the influencers. So I figured I had and expensive room freshener (it still smelled great). So it sat and sat. About a year after purchasing it I tried it again for work. I could smell it all day at work. This truly gets better with time.

I cannot believe how good this is! It makes Gucci Envy completely redundant, as this is soooo close to the original it isn't even funny. It lasts all day on my skin with excellent performance, just like Gucci Envy does. Gone are the days of paying exorbitant prices on Ebay for a 20 year old bottle 😊 The presentation is also fantastic. The bottle is really nice with a pressurised atomiser and a heavy metal cap. And you get 100ml for around £30-£35! This is the best release of 2024 for me. Bravo Fomo, bravo 👏 Edit - I now have ordered another 2 bottles for safe keeping. The discontinuation of all my favourites has given me PTSD so I'm not taking chances anymore. Fomo Envy 10/10 💚

My teenage son sometimes gives me succinct reviews of my fragrances. While going through a few recent acquisitions, when he reached The Envy of FOMO he simply said “doctor’s office”. That sort of shook me. 😄 I didn’t draw that association until he said that, but once he did, I couldn’t really deny it. That said, I still consider EoF a very wearable, clean, masculine fragrance. It’s an all season, all reason easy reach. I just wish Fomo was a little more daring with the aromatics. It could have made what is an excellent fragrance a truly outstanding one. Still, I find The Envy of FOMO to be an outstanding value and one of the best doctor’s office fragrances currently available.

I still have 30ml left of my 100ml Gucci Envy bottle I purchased at Macy's for $65 back in 2004. I'm going to tell you all right now, I have the FOMO and Envy on the back of each hand and I can't tell the difference. FOMO has knocked their clone of Gucci Envy out of the park. Even my wife couldn't tell me the difference between the two.. If you are 50 years old and under, this fougere masculine fragrance most likely will not appeal to you as the age of sweet unisex fragrances rules this current time. I'm so glad I won't have a burn through my last 30ml of Gucci Envy. FOMO might be on to something with cloning popular discontinued fragrances.

I own a 2010 bottle of Envy and maybe about 5ml left of juice. The top notes have changed a bit due to age but I do remember it in all it's glory. Until recently DUAs Covet has been the only thing I could get close to Envy and that one is stellar. The Envy of Fomo though has nailed it in terms of smell, performance and price. £29.99 for 100ml while Dua cost me £38 for a 34ml. Don't spend 100's trying to grab the OG on Ebay or other online stores. Chances are the notes have changed and Envy of fomo has it so close you literally can't tell other than the bottle.

@mateuszolech072. I have also used the Eclat dupe from Envy. it does not really come that close in my opinion , but maybe I have made Gucci Envy to big in my memories. I have smelled the un-reformulated version, and that was already very different from the last edition of this masterpiece. The envy of Fomo is now on its way to me and I can not wait to see if it gets closer. I will keep everyone updated on this. I have been waiting years for this moment ( I hope) it will arrive wednesday the 23rd of Oct. I will write my findings here.

To reviewers that say that this is nothing like Gucci Envy: I agree, and if you want Gucci Envy, try calling Gucci customer service and propose the idea to re launch the fragrance. Having said that, I have been testing Envy of FOMO for over 6 months now and it will definitely remind you of Gucci Envy. Perhaps it will not be as sharp or as vivid as you remember your Gucci Envy to smell, but given the low price point, this fragrance is good enough to give you a glimpse into the old days of Gucci Envy. I enjoy for what it is.

Fomo of Envy is my favorite of the line even topping Gary's den. I have never put my nose on the OG nor am I willing to pay the discontinued inflated prices. This has a dark green throwback fuzier barbershop feel. I love it and find myself reaching for it quiet often even with having 100 or so bottles in my collection. I find it a SOLID 9/10. Glad to have it in my collection. If I were to guess, this fragrance targets 30's and up and leans masculine.

Until now I thought that Éclat has the best dupe for Gucci Envy, but Envy of FOMO is even better than that! Bottle is very heavy and the box is huuuge! Compering it closely to my bottle of Envy obviously there are differences, but the dry down is extremely close to Gucci's. They have done amazing job by recreating Envy and I couldn't help, but wonder why on earth Gucci won't release again this beauty to the world...

I am genuinely shocked at how good this clone of Gucci Envy is. I've tried a few and they've been meh to okay. Either they weren't that close or they had terrible performance. This has great performance and here's the thing. It smells more like the original release of Envy not the version that came before it was discontinued. Having the original I can say true that this is a great clone of Envy.

So just an update. I've had my bottle for about 4 months now and say what you want about "maceration" or whatever but mine had gotten way stronger and the similarity to envy even closer if that was possible. My Gucci dupe from Athena perfumes which is 7 months old is still shit. So take that as you will.

Smells super classy and high quality after some maceration, performance is on point as well. Probably best suited for 35 year old and up.

Same smell as the original Gucci Envy but not as strong, I recommend it, it just needs more spraying!
