1993

This scent is just magic. Almost immediately became a staple for me. It smells like earth. Fresh, rich soil with a smoky, sweet air overhead. Soda spilled on the wet ground. A city park after rain. The freshness of the patchouli is given so much more depth and reality with the addition of the smoky "burnt match" note. It's moody but also invigorating. The Coca Cola note is what really makes this fragrance so addicting, however. It's subtle because of how well it marries with the other spicy, herbal elements. But that slight air of sweetness is what makes this so special. It's what separates it from other smoky patchouli scents. The cola somehow gives it an element of humanity. Human traces in a natural space. I love what the reviewer below me said about how this makes them feel like a younger version of their mother. That absolutely resonates with me as well. My mother gifted me this set of samples, which certainly contributes to that feeling. It smells like her in 1993, who I would have been in 1993, and also who I am now. I have worn this fragrance so frequently since receiving this sample. Such an easy reach that makes me feel good. Longevity is good on me. Probably ~6 hours. Stays close to the skin like most oils, but I like that for this type scent. I have had this sample for 2 months and even after wearing it multiple times a week, I still have some left. That makes me feel especially comfortable paying for the full bottle, knowing how long it will last me.

Right off the bat, I get a lot of the Cola and patchouli on here. It's very summerween vibes to me. The kind of scent I envision when watching a slasher movie set at an American summer camp. Or for something tamer than that, the summer camp prank scenes in the 90s Parent Trap movie with Lindsay Lohan in it. The longevity is also pretty good, at around 11hrs for me until it's pretty much gone. I bought a sample of this and may consider getting a bigger size since I do quite like it, but the only thing holding me back is that I also have a sample size of Black Salt by Heretic and while they do not smell the same, both to me have that herbal soft drink kinda vibe. I don't think I need both. Once I'm done with both samples, I will decide then which of the two I end up getting. Overall, I am wowed by both the scent and longevity.

amazingly accurate to the notes, coca cola spilt on hardwood mixing beautifully with the burnt match. i'm usually not a fan of amber or saffron but in this scent blend beautifully for the retro aspect. i'm additionally not one for overly warm or spiced scents, but this has a gorgeous sweetness to it without being sickening. like a cold soda on a cool evening. dries down in the way a sticky soda stain would, with the spiced warmth of the amber and saffron balanced by the fresh patchouli

I've been consistently wearing this perfume oil for around a month, and I was instantly obsessed. it reminds me of the x files, if that makes any sense. it's very warm and sweet, without being gourmand. the cola note amazes me, i never expected it to work so well. this is a perfume oil, so the bottle is quite small, but a little goes a long way. i wish they did have a perfume version though so it could also scent my clothes as well.

I was surprised by how much I liked my sample of 1993. On me it's got an almost plastic-y, naked scuffed-up Barbie doll left on your little sister's bedroom floor note that transitions in to the listed cola note as I wear it. The amber, teakwood/sandalwood and patchouli are there of course tho I agree with the other reviewer that the patchouli is in the background (which is in it's own way a little impressive, she's usually the life of the party!). Not as smokey as I was hoping for. IMO anyone can pull off any scent so long as it speaks to their own perfect balance of masculine and feminine. I'd say 1993 speaks much more to the feminine, but in a very androgynous way, like an older sister that shaved her head and has been sneaking out to go to live shows across town. Definitely skews younger, I think the few people born before 1993 who can wear this comfortably already know it without needing my review. Decadence & Debauchery is the more masculine/mature version of 1993 from FSW. This pulls VERY sweet/vanilla on me after a few hours of wear. That's a me problem, that happens with nearly every fragrance I put on even if it shouldn't have gourmand or vanilla notes. Unfortunate because I can't stand gourmands, but I think it's lovely in formulations like 1993 and probably much less aggressive on most other people. I still reach for it sometimes for going out. Late summer live music or a date at the cocktail lounge.

I was expecting to love this, but it didn’t live up to those expectations. It's okay, but nothing extraordinary. On my skin it’s mostly a generic woody note with some patchouli (but not an interesting kind of patchouli). I also get a hint of whiskey, but absolutely no Coca-Cola note, unfortunately. There’s no real evolution either, as the scent doesn’t develop and the drydown stays stuck in the same place. It comes across as a unisex-to-masculine cologne. It's nice enough, but overall disappointing, especially given how intriguing the description sounds.
