Persephone

If ever I considered a scent to tell a story, it would be this one. As someone who is familiar with the myth of Persephone, this fragrance is just as poetic and enticing as the original story. The first fifteen minutes on skin smell like a decadent, luxurious garden after the clouds part and sun dries the rain into a sort of sweet scent. It smells like jasmine with a slight hint of orangey citrus. Sweet, comforting, and effortlessly enchanting. The middle of the dry-down is my personal favorite. The flower smell transforms into that of bittersweet fruits, darker and moodier than the initial scent. It's slightly bitter but has a nectary sweetness to it without being overpowering. I also find there to be a slight hint of dirt, something I think is very difficult to do without overpowering the other notes. It smells like a dark banquet, or dead flowers left on a grave. This phase is more gothic, pondering, and mysterious, and I love the transformation from light to dark. The last stage is the most subtle, landing on a mix of black currant and fig. It smells slightly like dead leaves and the coming of winter. If the beginning phases are Persephone's journey to the underworld, this perfectly embodies her mother, Demeter's, grief at the loss of her daughter. It's melancholic but not depressing, and I love how tangy and almost decayed it smells. Overall, this is one of my favorite scents, and I urge anyone partial to Greek mythology and gothic witchyness to try this decadent fragrance :)

I smell like I took a bath in a delicious red sangria BIG fan very voluptuous sensual scent ??? wish it lasted longer bc oh my lord

The formula has changed, I have the current formulation (as of May 2025) This starts off very juicy, like overripe red fruits— think pomegranates. A very feminine, sensual level of juiciness to the fruit aspects of this perfume. After it dries down the tuberose and mimosa really come into play, the white florals are powdery and delicate— light and playful. I do not get the fig notes off of this at all, for me this truly wears and smells like a ripe, wet, dripping pomegranate/pomegranate juice and powdery white florals. This is definitely a spring scent, and invokes a really fertile and sensual feminine feeling. I feel like the goddess Persephone is the perfect namesake and inspiration. Bravo to For Strange Women for capturing that. The con is that this is not very long lasting at all. I find I have to reapply after about 3 hours. To me, this is still worth purchasing if you’re looking for a very ripe, juicy scent for spring that isn’t quite sweet— just sensual and full.

full bodied fall fruit. dark, sensual, almost spicy from the orris root note. like a red sangria with a cinnamon stick. not much development, fairly consistent throughout the scent though starts darker (perhaps the black currant) and as it develops the pomegranate and fruit become more evident. i don't get much strawberry, but the tuberose and mimosa are definitely present for a scent fit for a goddess. starts strong and enormous from the oil base, becomes more intimate but still present.

I personally did not like this on me at all, I could see how someone could love this but for me it was a miss, nevertheless im glad i tried it. this goes straight animalic on me and that's all you can smell. no fruit, no fresh floral, just straight animalic-y tuberose and it wasn't my vibe

as a hellenic pagan i wanted to like this soooooooo bad....... but it's just so bad it smells like an old lady's car that she's doused in perfumes and smoked hella cigarettes out of, maybe with a slightr hint of a burnt yankee's candle from the fall sale

I don’t know what happened to mine but I only got the smell of hay and green notes. No fruit at all I was heartbroken. 2/10
