Gardenia

In building my perfume wardrobe I sought a soliflore of each flower that I love that most accurately smells like the living flower. As a hobby perfumer myself I know that attempts to make a gardenia absolute have resulted in little success yielding an absolute that exhibits the smell of the fresh flower. I do have a pomade that was made through enfleurage that is about as close as I had experienced but it was rather weak and even fixed with natural ambergris did not last long and had poor sillage. All the gardenias on the market either do not smell like actual gardenia at all or they really are tuberose that they tried to tinker with to confuse us into thinking it is gardenia because it's a white floral and not jasmine and not quite tuberose. Estee Lauder's Tuberose Gardenia is a great perfume, but it's a great example of this. It is a beautiful tuberose with something else...but that something else that is supposed to be gardenia when it comes right down to it doesn't seem to be when you compare it next to a live gardenia flower. Well, this is one of those very few times in life where you do not get what you pay for. I do not know if this is all synthetic or how it is created but it does not matter because the result is the same: a great perfume that really smells like a living gardenia flower. For those of you who do not think so do not know what the actual flower really smells like. I have actually compared this perfume on my skin side by side with a freshly picked gardenia flower and they are identical. So in my book this perfume is a far better gardenia than all the others that cost more than ten times as much. I find that it does last a good while but it's so inexpensive and it comes in sizes that are easy to slip in a pocket or purse so there is no problem to take it with you and freshen it up if you want to kick it up a notch again. I think that others smell it as long as they are reasonably close, but you are not going to fog out an auditorium. So if you are looking for a true gardenia soliflore, nothing less and nothing more at a very affordable price then this is perfect.

This is hands down the most natural and real smelling Gardenia out of all that I've tried to date. Smells like a gardenia in bloom, just like what they sell at my local nursery. I've only recently come to like this note, disliking it in both perfume and in plants. Elie Saab's Gardenia converted me and made me really like that flower. Well, I didn't think it was possible, but I like this even more. No, actually, I love this. A full-blown, luscious, creamy, sweet gardenia blossom. I'm absolutely blown away by the realism of the florals from this brand and can't believe they are selling them at practically give away prices. If they stuck a niche label on this it would be commanding high prices. Other scents from this brand are just as realistic too. I have the Pikake, not listed in the database here, and it smells just like real blooming jasmine sambac blossoms. Simply amazing! They are also great to use for layering, and they layer well within the brand too. I layered the gardenia and jasmine together and the scent was gorgeous. Now I'm off to seek out a rollerball of the Plumeria. If the gardenia and jasmine are any indication, I'm sure it is wonderful too. Edit - 7/22 - I want to come back to add to my review here because I have actually smelled gardenia shrubs growing in the tropics when I went on vacation this year. This is it. This is the scent of those blossoms in this bottle. Zero difference to me at all. I don't know how they did it, especially considering how cheap this is, but this is that scent 100%. Simply amazing!

I have gardenias in my backyard. I have also bought a lot of perfumes I thought smelled like gardenia as it is my favorite flower. In this category EL Tuberose Gardenia, Jo Malone Gardenia and Cardamon, and the original Michael Kors Michael come to mind. However, when compared side by side with a real gardenia you quickly realize they smell nothing like the real thing and actually contain a ton of tuberose. They are still lovely but not a real gardenia scent. In doing my side by side testing each day with a real gardenia picked fresh the Forever Florals Gardenia nailed it. In a distant second place was Goutal's Gardenia Passion. I have not tried Kai yet but it is on my list for next summer. Hands down the TRUEST Gardenia I scent I own. The only one that comes in a close second is Island Gardenia by Hawaiian Classics Perfumes by Edward Bell (not in the database but anyone who loves a true Hawaiian Floral should check it out) Typically when it comes to the Tropical Florals I like to blend but this one is best all on her own. Sometimes Gardenia in a perfume tends to get caught up in all the other sweets and swirls that are in there with her. I find all the Forever Florals to be spot on, and I would expect as much from these perfumes that are made in Hawaii. These are sold at the Gift Shops in Hawaii for a reason. I have all of their offerings in my collection and they will Forever be there. My favorite is Heavenly Leilani. It is limited edition so if you can get your hands on it stock up!

This simple soliflore gardenia fragrance does the trick and smells so realistic to the gardenia flower. It is so creamy and sweet in the right way just like the flower. Worth every penny and great for layering. I will repurchase again to remember my Gardenia bushes in Georgia. If you get the gardenia lotion and layer them together it smells even better. So happy it's still available, but better yet I can use this to layer anything I want to add that extra creaminess of true Gardenia to. What a pleasure to layer with Dior's Pure Poison Edp or Elixir.

Gardenia Solid reviewed. I saw TaleoftheRose recommendation for this gardenia scent, and trusted her advice. She was spot on. I have every gardenia scent known to man in the 20th century, and this is the most realistic interpretation of smelling an actual Gardenia flower. Thank you! Their plumeria and pineapple solids are wonderful as well.

For less than $10, this is probably the best price value gardenia soliflore in the market. The solid perfume version captures the creamy gardenia fragrance the best. I found its spray perfume too sharp. Dame Gardenia and Kai are close 2nd and 3rd. This is a great addition to my army of gardenia perfumes.

All the other reviewers have nailed it when they say: this smells like a REAL gardenia. As with any gardenia perfume, especially in hot weather you've got to apply with a bit of a light hand, unless you want to knock everyone over. also, make sure you give this a few minutes to "settle" once you've sprayed it before you judge it. The initial blast is harsh-harsh-harsh! In fact, upon first spritz you might think, "... I've made a horrible mistake." But wait! Within 5-10 minutes or so, it calms down from that first screech into a very realistic and pretty floral. Because of its verisimilitude, this escapes feeling fussy or dated. Imagine a fresh gardenia tucked behind the ear of someone who's dressed very simply, but nicely. If you crave gardenia, definitely try this one; the good news is it's not at all expensive, so even if you don't like it, you won't feel bad about giving or swapping it away.

Coming from a girl born and raised in Georgia, this gardenia is true-ish to the plant that grew all around my childhood home. Given that gardenia is such a tough note to replicate in perfumery, this one is fairly impressive, managing to avoid the "miscellaneous white floral" territory that so many other gardenia fragrances fall into. It does successfully capture the overall experience of the flower. That said, it's both sweeter and simpler than the real thing, and longevity on the cologne is virtually non-existent. It's beautiful, but it does not quite fill that gardenia craving I have. Back to Le Wild I go!

I've never smelled a real gardenia before, but I really like this fragrance. It is my favorite out of all the gardenia scents I've tried. Starts out rather sharp, dries down to a soft, warm scent that really makes me feel like I'm in a warmer place. Longevity and sillage are soft to moderate. I can't wait to experiment with layering this one with my other fragrances.

I found this perfume when I was on vacation in Hawaii. Very cheap but a very realistic interpretation of gardenia! When I was little my mom had a gardenia plant and when it bloomed she'd bring the plant inside the house and the whole house just smelled lovely. simple, but nostalgic scent

Oh wow. So I suppose this is what true gardenia smells like. Blind bought a full bottle because of the great reviews. I applied lightly to a blotter strip and my skin. I got an immediate headache with nausea. This one is going on eBay. Now I know...

I went on a gardenia kick for a while and purchased Pacifica's Tahitian Gardenia, Elizabeth Taylor's Gardenia, Jovan's Island Gardenia, Annick Goutal's Gardenia Passion and a few less memorable perfumes with strong gardenia components. Disappointingly, none of them smelled quite like I remembered the large gardenias of my youth. About midway through my gardenia fetish, I purchased the Forever Florals Gardenia. I tried it a few times, but thought it was loud, screechy, overbearing, and a too-high nosed chemical atrocity. Maybe a year later, I purchased several everblooming gardenia bushes. The smell on my patio from their blooms was divine. One evening I realized that one of my gardenia perfumes had smelled quite similar. After going through all of them and repeatedly shuffling this one to the back, I finally tried it. It was a perfect match. Hit every single note of the original composition and did not stray beyond it. I had to amend a less than flattering review I'd left elsewhere after initially trying it. My compliments to whoever came up with this perfume. It is a dead-on match for the real thing and it lasts without being pushy.

Review for roll on: This is IT. You want a fresh and devastating gardenia that doesn't smell strongly like a Michael Kors modern take on white florals? Look no further. Forever Florals Gardenia is similar to the gardenia found in my favorite, Island Gardenia, but without tuberose or the hints of coconut and ginger that beauty contains. This is merely gardenia... with possibly some jasmine? If so it's the freshest, dewiest jasmine, nothing at all indolic. Since sillage and longevity are both moderate, this would be fabulous for wearing all sorts of places, including work. Any time, in short, that you'd RATHER be in Hawaii! The only time I would not wear this? When you don't want to be feminine, because that's what this is. Simple, floral allurement. Please don't overlook the budget packaging and low cost. Buy a true Hawaiian fragrance that will bring you tropical paradise! Absolutely Five Stars

I bought the roll-on from eBay and it’s the best $12 I’ve spent on a fragrance! This has moderate longevity (as do most $100+ perfumes nowadays...) but I don’t mind throwing it in my purse to re-apply. Gardenias don’t grow naturally in my state, but I had the pleasure of sticking my face in a giant gardenia shrub while visiting a local botanical garden’s tropical greenhouse. Which I did over and over, to take in the beautiful exotic scent of these creamy white flowers while I can. Forever Florals’ Gardenia is an amazing rendition and I highly recommend it over anything else that I’ve smelled featuring gardenias. I don’t recommend wearing this when you’re in an introverted, avoidant mood, because you will receive more male attention than usual. Wear it with a bikini.

At first this will come out VERY HARSH and screechy . I tried to live with it for a while then gave it away. Later I tried the solid. It's pretty amazing! What fostermd said below! The solid has no screech! It sits close to your skin. (I cannot remember if the SPRAY sat close to your skin or not?) So yes- this is an accurate GARDENIA (hooray!) and again- I am praising the SOLID PERFUME which was only like $7.99 !! I will re-visit the spray soon!! Forever Florals are very affordable but S T R O N G ! Use caution.

If you like gardenia you'll love this its creamy dense aquatic gardenia. How DO NOT over spray i actually w this spray and walk through the mist because its strong! Im telling you this could choke someone out so do not over spray or wear on really hot hot weather. This is beautiful in cold,Cool, and warm breeze weather. It doesn't smell dated its just clean creamy aquatic gardenia thats it.

Top quality dupe for Diptique Do Son edt. Note: I’ve only tried the roller ball. The rollerball has great sillage of creamy white floral goodness. The recipes speak of a sharp note, but maybe that is only in the spray bc the rollerball is a creamy floral. Overall I’m very impressed by this and will buy more when I run out.

Just came to say that this is amazing and I can't believe it's so cheap. This one and Full by Al-Rehab will forever be in my collection. <3
