Belle de Nuit

I truly adore this scent and like to wear it a lot. It is so fresh, green, pastel (melange of light) colour floral, dewy and feminine. This is the scent I wear a lot at work, because it is a very pleasant, innocent (not in a single way childish) perfume, BUT, it is unique enough to turn heads and be astonishing wearing this. It is pleasant to smell, and although it is not a powerhouse (moderate sillage), it isn't another flower bouquet slammed in your face. It does hold up to 6-9 hours on my skin (dryer skin type that is). The similarity to J'Adore would not be mine to make (J'Adore smells more like yellow/golden flowers), but if I had to appoint a cousin, I would say Dior Miss Dior, and maybe a flowery flanker even more. It is the same vibe they're on (fresh watery flowers). So I do get the relation to the House Dior, which has a approach on florals. Easy to wear, day and night. Especially at night, when it reminds me of early spring evenings. The air getting a little chilly when the sun is down after a sunny day and the air smells like the flowers that did bloom that day. Must be the scent bees fall in love with. So I do get the name (I like to believe). As it opens, it gently let's all the flowers have a say (can't really tell them apart) and throughout the hour, other notes softly emerge. What baffled me a little was that this perfume, has rose in it, but gives the rose a more.. backing role in this. Which is a little odd for a perfume made in Grasse France. It's so well blended in, and gives the rose a whole new role to play and it suits. So for people who are not that fond of roses, do not worry and take a whiff yourself. Another thing, Belle de Nuit is not sweet. Not sugary sweet. The only sweetness is has are from the ingredients itself, and precisely that makes her more of an adolescent then a teenager. With that said, it would fit any age still. And all this, is what makes an extraordinary scent. I will get another bottle.

A beautiful young at heart fragrance that brings the fun back in floral. Belle de Nuit starts off fresh, not quite citrusy but tangy. The main theme for me plays out in a harmony of ylang-ylang, jasmine/rose and musk. The overall impression is clean, almost soapy but very, very invigorating and soft simultaneously. Despite the name referencing a night blooming flower, I cannot help but feel the warmth of the sun whenever I wear this perfume. Another reviewer said it smells Disney princess like and that is correct, you can feel like a fairy tale character wearing it. An easy love for floral-curious people, it has it all - freshness, warmth and longevity. I think I've reached peak Fragonard obsession with a big golden bottle of the EDT, despite île d'amour still being my favourite from their line.

As I sit having a sniff of a few fragrances that I let sit in the back of my cabinet, I pulled this one out. It’s such a beautiful floral almost tropical without the coconut. Tropical floral. I love it and I really hope this doesn’t disappear so soon. I sniffing this on my arm and find it to work well with my chemistry. I am a gardenia lover so of course I love it. It’s a true gardenia, the ylang ylang rounds it out making it a bit more yellow floral in the dry down. Sillage is good and I love the way it smells on me when I move. I am glad I have this in my collection. Highly recommended 10/10 Just perfect for springtime.

So beautiful... very similar to J’adore but better! Has less of vintage feel than J’adore does, ie anyone of any age could wear this and it would be lovely. To me it smells a lot smoother and more wearable than J’adore, when can on occasion feel a bit harsh (although I still really like it!). It is clean and a touch soapy, floral and a touch musky. A bit laundry like but overall such a gentle smell. Very Disney princess like! This is why Princess Aurora would smell of for sure! So beautiful and definitely worth adding to your collection if you like feminine, soft, elegant, smooth fragrance.

It's name really suits it. A warm and seductive scent. I get equal amounts of rose, musk and plum. Not too sweet or heavy. The geranium adds just the right amount of kick to lift the scent. I get the violet after a short while. The dry down is about musk, a touch of ylang and violet. A very pretty scent for evening wear as a bit too much for daywear. It's an evening scent for a lady. That doesn't mean it has an old lady smell. There is a refinement. I guess it's that uniquely French Je nais c'est quoi. I get moderate longevity and sillage.

It smells nothing like J'adore to me. In fact, this perfume reminds a lot of a tissue brand that I loved. It's predominant violet on me, with poor to moderate longevity and silage. Like many people mentioned, it's fresh, floral, feminine. It's a very good safe choice when you don't know what to wear. I also noticed that it performs better in warmer days than in colder days, as it gets very soapy in cold weather.

On me it is J'adore with a soul. Don't get me wrong. I like J'adore and I used to recommend it for others when I worked seasonally in fragrances. But on me it had no depth. Something about the extra plum and spice in Belle is what my chemistry needs to find the magic that is J'adore on others. I love Belle de Nuit. It somehow reminds me I don't need youth to be beautiful.

This is a beautiful bouquet of dewy florals. I smell mostly gardenia, a touch of ylang ylang, and a juicy, ripe plum - a hint of muskiness. I don't really detect rose - but all the florals blend very nicely. I haven't smelled J'adore so I can't compare. I really like this on its own merit - beautifully done with good longevity and projection.

This is a gorgeous, big fragrance. It is ultra feminine and full of lush flowers but it wears close to the skin so its not cloying but enticing. I don't really smell any of the individual elements but I get a lot of night-blooming white flowers and maybe some rose. I have this in the parfum...love it! I definitely would like another bottle.

Belle de Nuit is my treasure from Paris. Every visit to Paris is also a visit to Fragonard, near to L'Opera Garnier. This fragrance is just amazing! Heavenly beautiful. I love it. I agree that it has a lot in common with Dior's J'Adore wich is also one of my favorites. I love the bottle and of course the box. Treasure it is ;-)

Thank you Kastehelmi for this beauty! It is indeed an upgrade on J'Adore. J'Adore has this note, really turning me off, but this one certainly is perfect! I would not type it an oriental floral though. More is it a floral to my nose, maybe with some fruits too, but mostly floral. LOVELY!

I LOVE this scent! It is now my absolute favourite. If only it was sold in my city. I don't know anywhere in Canada to get it so I have to order online or my last bottle was purchased in England for me. Nice warm scent, lovely!

This is extraordinary perfume. For special occasions. I love that after few hours after spraying it on the scent is still clean, unlike a lot of perfumes that turn to scent dirty after some time

Sweet charming lovely flower fragragrance with temper... Violet&rose have never been so well balanced in a seductive and not too sweet fresh spycy mix. Irresistible! Well done Fragonard!

Perfect evening perfume. I imagine the beautiful women from old black and white films smelled like that. And the price is really good too. I bought the 200 ml bottle for 44 €.

i found a set of ten mini fragonard fragrances and this is one of them. Ultra feminine and exquisite scent and it lasts almost all day! My fiance loves it.

I want to try this! The previous man's review right before me has me sold...as well as the notes and of course being FRAGONARD :-)

Perhaps it was J'Adore attempted which tried copy this gorgeous, classic Fragonard?

I like this scent very much, but it is not as love for me. It is a bit too sweet and fruity for my tastes, with a very strong note of plum permeating the whole development of this fragrance. I also don't smell any ylang ylang or gardenia, which is a shame since I love those notes. I also don't know what mirabilis smells like, but here on Fragrantica it says that it is very sweet so that is probably contributing to the sweetness as well. I do get a good dose of rose, violet and geranium in the heart notes, but the rose in this perfume is not a naturalistic rose and smells a bit like some sort of sweet rose syrup to me. It's nice, but again much too sweet. The violet note is lovely though and is fairly naturalistic smelling. In the dry down, I can then smell the musk and again the plum of course, but I'm not getting any of the wood, which I actually prefer. It is a pretty and feminine fragrance that I could imagine a young girl in her teens or a very young woman in her twenties would probably love, since fruity florals are so popular right now. They give me a bit of a migraine though. I could imagine this being worn in either spring or fall for night time wear and it could be worn at both casual and dressy occasions. The price is also fairly cheap too for a perfume, so it would make a great first "serious" fragrance for a teenage girl or a very young woman. Sillage was moderate on me and it wore for about 6 hours on my skin, so lasting power is quite good for this price. As I said before, I liked this, but nothing wowed me. I could have done without the mirabilis and plum and I would have liked more gardenia and ylang ylang. Still, this perfume was fairly nice and so I'd give it 71/100 percent altogether.

My best friend brought me a bottle of Belle de Nuit as a present from Eze. At first smell, I thought "This is a scent I know but which..." then an hour later I got it: J'Adore. It smells a lot like J'Adore but I like Belle de Nuit better -because J'Adore gives me headache, it's too cloying and it reminds some unwanted memories :). In Fragonard's site, headline for this fragrance says :"Belle de Nuit is an original, deep rich harmony of flowers and fruit on a warm velvety bottom note of musk. A precious fragrance, as magical as an Arabian night!" Well, they got it right because Belle de Nuit is a strong floral musk which reminds you of that hot, sand-coloured and sun-washed places and the oriental air of their women. %76 volume edp is -of course- quite durable, it basically lives with you. It feels very feminine; it's not like overly trying to be sexy but knowing yourself and your charm and appreciating it. Confident, warm and rich. In short, beautiful :)
