Desert

A niche quality and affordable typical tobacco accord ! Very masculine and this DNA is not new at all, but it goes against current trends in men's fragrances, while remaining warm and distinguishing itself from rather old and dated men's perfumes. Overall great all-year arround scent if you want to smell good without venturing into the niche territory of certain scents. Ultimately, this perfume would be a high-quality mainstream fragrance for me. Regarding the notes, I don't really detect the oud (which is a bit of a shame in my opinion), but the warm tobacco is absolutely delicious, accompanied by honeyed notes and a certain freshness brought by the bergamot and neroli in the opening. The base is almost vanilla, but it's definitely this masculine tobacco that dominates throughout the fragrance's development. The longevity is decent, around 6 hours, with a sillage of one to two hours.

I'm a girl!! And I love this!! Mind you, I crave oriental juices in general: oudh, patchouli, cardamom (but also lush whites like gardenia, jasmine, tuberose). Désert starts out somewhat harsh, but soon settles into a warm, slightly sweet woody delight. To me, it's very cozy/cuddly. That must be the tobacco and tonka. Like someone said, sitting in front of a fire in a puffy chair and feeling right with the world and calm. This might be nice layered over some of the Arabian fragrance oils (Swiss Arabian, al Haramain, etc.) to accentuate the woodiness or bring out the sweet notes in this. Like all Fragonards (to which I am currently addicted), excellently crafted with top-drawer essential oils with something a bit unique in each one. Gorgeous!

This is very nice honey-based floral citrusy fragrance. I was afraid because of the oud note but Im not feeling it at all (which is good). Aura is moderate and longevity is bit low (up to 2 hours) but I dont expect every fragrance to be in the beast mode. This one is for spring/fall and non-offensive, pleasant.

A steal at that price. I love it and always have a bottle. Intoxicating, smells delicious, to me it's a bit more of a night scent but works all the time. Performance are average to low.

Let's say that Desert is inspired by a number of fragrances (I get whiffs from Lanvin Avant Garde, Burberry London for Man, Fendi Fan di Fendi PH amongst others). It opens with a rich, if a bit screechy, citrusy note that spearheads a layer of sweet and rich cold-weather notes (tonka, tobacco), with some spiciness coming from saffron, which is just barely perceptible. The mandarin/bergamot combo with sweeter notes makes it a bit more apt for autumn than winter, as the sweet tartness refreshes a bit the overall scent profile. I don't get oud at all, while beeswax brings the creaminess of the drydown rather than the smell of beeswax itself (if all, I get more honey than beeswax). It's not a groundbreaking fragrance, the scent profile is very common and it does things done already by countless other fragrances, despite being quite versatile itself in having a fresher citrusy opening than most scents it calls its daddies, making it suitable both at day and night. It projects well but the performance is rather weak, although all in all it smells nicely and it's quite affordable. Most fragheads would pass, but if you happen to be anywhere near Grasse and don't mind a deviation to tour the factory and the shop, it could be a nice, inexpensive present for family and friends. It's a like for me.

This is a very good fragrance when you compare it with its price. I got mine in Grasse, it was pretty cheap for a 100 ml bottle. There are like 250 ml and 500 ml options which are much cheaper per ml but of course it is huge to invest in that especially if you have many fragrances. Desert in my opinion is similar to Nikos Sculpture, but it doesn't have any of the nose-screeching synthetic vibe or sweetness of Nikos. It is a sweet tobacco fragrance but it is never cloying, real mature one. The citrus notes on top give a wet, fresh total fragrance experience. I don't see any connection with the name, so don't expect any oriental spicy notes. People around me like it and have been asked a couple of times about what it is. The sillage is adequate and gets weaker during the day but it is pretty enduring, i can still smell it on me in the afternoon when i have a few sprays in the morning. It may seem a simple fragrance whn you try it first, but give it some time, it is a real delight to wear this.

Tonka bean centered fragrance, supported by beeswax, as well as a hint of tobacco and citrus. No noticeable oud. Probably the most interesting frag for men of the whole house of Fragonard, and still, nothing mindblowing. The only one that will get a "like" from me. Performance is below average at best, if not poor, as for all the other frags of this house. Unfortunately, Fragonard is now part of these mass market cosmetics houses (Yves Rocher, L'Erbolario, L'Occitane, The Body Shop...), that, more often than not, have little to offer that is of real interest. Lush is one that put the bar a little higher, but still, the fragrances are hit-or-miss (with a lot of misses). Even if the price was good, I'm glad I haven't won a past auction for this one on ebay and got to smell it. Deleted from my to-buy list, and I will pass on this house. Fall days, 20+

Notes from the perfumer: Created for lovers of wide open spaces with no interest in the superfluous and a heart as gentle as a peaceful oasis... 🏝️🐫🌅 Désert is a beautiful offering from Fragonard. It's an office-appropriate, sweetened tobacco scent. The tonka bean here smells more vanilla-like than spicy, and together with the saffron, it dresses up the tobacco scent nicely. I like to wear this to the gym, the scent profile is dark and rich, but it doesn't seem to disturb anyone because it stays close to the skin. The longevity is moderate. This is my second favorite offering from Fragonard in their men's line. Unfortunately, my partner doesn't like the scent because of the tobacco note. It's a shame that tobacco can be polarizing, I think it's beautifully displayed here. An easy reach perfect for everyday wear 😊

Passe-partout original. Senteur 7/10 Le parfum a beau être original, voir les notes ci-dessus, je n'arrive pas à être convaincu par ce parfum. Non qu'il soit désagréable, mais il me laisse un petit peu sur ma faim : pas de quoi sauter au plafond. Le mélange me semble un peu artificiel et contrairement au premier commentateur, je n'arrive guère à dissocier les éléments. En usage quotidien, à l'automne ou en hiver, et au bureau, il est cependant très bien. Voilà, très bien, mais pas un chef d'oeuvre non plus. Longévité. 2/2. 6 heures à peu près. Sillage 2/2. Conforme à son usage : pas trop envahissant, mais présent. Masculinité 1.5/2. Il manque à ce parfum une réelle personnalité pour affirmer pleinement sa masculinité. Evolution 2/4. Relativement linéaire et un peu ennuyeuse. Total 14,5/20

Fragonard is always fantastic. Here we have Desert, an affordable, high-quality tobacco fragrance. It is marketed towards men, but having smelled so many niches in this genre that are labeled "unisex," Desert belongs in that category. This is an example of classic French perfumery with a distinct pyramid of notes. Top notes of citrus. The heart reveals a genuine note of tobacco, which slowly subsides to reveal a dark woody base that seems just a wee bit smoky. I am a tobacco freak and have never found a tobacco perfume of this quality at this price point. It's kind of unbeatable. Desert deserves a very enthusiastic, upturned thumb.

Cozy warm tobacco amber with slight sweetness. Like most Fragonards, natural, high quality, well blended. A soft pleasant natural easy to wear versatile tobacco. As a citrus aromatic and citrus woody fan, not sure this is for me, but it would be very pleasant to wear casually during spring and fall days. Very nice. Scent: 8 / Sillage: 7.5 / Longevity: 7.5

This is a fine fragrance. You notice from first sniff that this is one is different to the mainstream fragrances that cry out "buy me! buy me!". It needs some time to evolve and perfectly suits any modern and elegant appearance that does not rely on the right label, but on quality. ***

I recently picked up a bottle of this after visiting the perfumery in Grasse and think it's wonderful. I went a little "nose blind" smelling their amazing array of beautifully crafted scents. I went with this because it smells amazing. It was very reasonable - compared to others I own anyway - so I thought I'd get a bottle. Having read what another reviewer had mentioned, it also reminded me of Nikos Sculpture, not exactly but it was fairly similar. With a personality of its own, it is quite sexy and people have asked me what it is that I'm wearing, they are usually baffled by the reply since not everyone has heard of Fragonard.

Reminds me very much of Versace Dreamer - or what it's trying to do. Personally, on my skin, Dreamer comes out as very screechy (shouldn't use the word synthetic, but that is the association) and is an instant scrubber - but Désert on the other hand touches on the same floral powdery soapy thing in the beginning hours in a much more calm restrained way. I got this in a 5 count men's EDT discovery set from Fragonard... it's still not my favorite out of the bunch but for the price it's certainly not a bad fragrance. Longevity is on the on the lower half of average for me.

Clean, but not quite a "white dress shirt". Very safe. Sits squarely between masculine and feminine, decidedly not swaying towards either end. Easily wearable by either gender, in my opinion, but that naturally depends on what you want to portray with your choice of scent. I would just not feel like it was out of place on all but the femmmiest of women. Wonderful atomizer, very satisfying and delivers a consistent amount. The brushed metal bottle feels satisfying, although the cap is held on by friction alone and feels like you could shake it off.

I got a sample of this with my Fragonard purchase and gave it to my husband. He enjoyed it so much that I got him a full bottle. It starts sharp and aromatic and settles down to a nice soapy clean tobacco scent. It is very wearable pleasant cologne. He loved it, went through the full bottle so I ended up ordering another one for his birthday!

Peaceful.

Pleasantly surprised with this one. It reminds me very much of Minotaur by Paloma Picasso but much longer lasting. Masculine and very sexy!!

This is veeeeeeeeeeery similar to Sculpture Homme by Nikos.
