Oud Vert Intense

I was comparing FDB Oud Vert Intense to Oud Bleu Intense and Roja Oligarch and Oceania. I ended up purchasing Oud Bleu Intense, because I thought it was the standout of the four. Roja Oligarch was like overpriced Terre de Hermes with less character, while Oceania was pleasant but had a dull balsa wood small that dominated throughout. The FDB Bleu was the standout because it reminded me of fountains in Rome and tiny French candies I used to get as a child on the S.S. France.....all this considered I did think that the Oud Vert Intense was VERY classy and distinguished. It had a haunting quality to it as the sharp ginger opening faded away that made the Roja seem cheap in comparison. I chose the Bleu because it resonated more with me and also because I noticed a similarity between the Vert and the first formulation of YSL L'Homme...exchange the tonka for Oud and your almost there. The similarities in the other notes are very close - both open with ginger and citrus and go through a spicy floral phase to a vetiver and wood dry down. The YSL is not as subtle and classy to be sure, but enough of a similarity (in the context of my collection) to make me go for the Bleu instead, which is more unique. Now, after 3 months during which I kept going back to my 2 mL sample of Oud Vert, used it up, bought another 2 mL decant and used that up, I decided I had to also get a bottle of this. It was too good to pass up. I needed a classy summer citrus and I was underwhelmed by Roja Oligarch and Nio. It has a beautiful almost otherworldly desert flower feel that is addictive. YSL L'Homme (original formulation) has many similarities but is just a faint shadow of this work of art. So now I have Bleu, Orange, Noir, Vert, Milano and Santal Complet and I am as happy as can be...I have a load of Kilians and a few Rojas and Nishanes and PDMs as well, but I think FDB is at the top (highest quality ingredients), followed closely by Kilian (more variety and attitude) and then PDM, Nishane and Roja. Better art direction with Kilian and FDB - more focus on what they want to achieve with each fragrance.

What a treat! This fragrance is absolute magic. The opening is pure, fresh ginger, rough but juicy and coupled with citrus sweetness. Retreating to a smooth spicy bed of cardamom very quickly. The woods aren't particularly oud-like, more of low lying cedar to me. Cardamom looms large and it's something I like to use in my blends, but to get it to sit as comfortably as it does in this fragrance is no mean feat let me tell you. The 'vert' part does make you think it would be more green (I mean the caradmom is green) but that is somehow evoked in the bergamot and overall freshness, so even the name works well. I love it . It's discrete but somehow exudes quality and like it's been carefully considered. So the obvious gripes from folk with this are: 'where's the oud?' The character of this scent being so good could be attributed to that, But if you're after a big, blatant oud then this ain't it. It's like £300 or something? Well like I've said, FdB were not a brand that were made for me and I actually really have a problem with the whole 'Luxury' focus. However, if the perfumes were bad, I'd love nothing more than to slate them (I'm petty like that) for some emperor's new clothes shit...but they are sublime across the board and this is no different. Oh...saying something on the 'oud' element The fragrances from this brand (maybe with the exception of Santal Complet?) which don't have 'Oud' in the title are pretty nice but not at the level of the oud ones, regardless of whether they overtly smell of oud or not. My conclusion the oud must play a factor in the overall 'aura' of the scent, otherwise what would be the point?

Have you ever smelled a fragrance and your eyes just lit up and you thought "This is it !! This is my scent !!" ? That's how I felt when I first sampled it and luckily was able to score a tester bottle months later for a great price ! This is simply the best fragrance I have ever smelled and I own hundreds of fragrances and I'm sure I've sampled over a thousand so far, niche, designer and indies! This is such a smooth and velvety fragrance! It's a little hard to tell the individual notes because it's so well blended. It starts soft and smooth but I feel like it gets gradually stronger. I don't smell any Oud in this, which is great for me because Oud is one of my least favorite notes in perfumery. I could still smell it after 8 hours as a skin scent. I've sampled many of the FDB line of niche fragrances but I think this is the only one that I consider worth their expensive price tags. I would definitely recommend you get your nose on it!

This composition has everything that I look for in a summer scent. If you guys ever want to experience a stunning rendition of citrus , I suggest you try this. Oud Vert has it all, naturalistic, herbal, silky smooth oud foundation, this beauty is effervescent, the citrus arrangement smells radiant and alive on skin, but buttery smooth, and the cardamon meets ginger chosen in the building of this composition really capture the aromatic essence of a great citrus perfume.

One of the best soft oud perfumes with citrus, floraly notes I have tried (do not usually like out that much) probably because it barely smells like oud. The oud in here is very weak but I love it because it is not overpowering at all and also very wearable for office, summer and spring. Such an interesting green, floral, citrusy perfume. Rather sharp citrusy bergamot opening but settles beautifully and melts together with the skin to a softer scent. Smelling it on a strip does not show this scent's true beautiful soul. It is not super ordinary and difficult to understand. I am not sure, if it is worth 450 CHF / Dollars for a FB of 50ml, although the oud is sustainably sourced and certified. Big plus for that. It's on my wishlist for sure but I am not sure, if I would splurge that money.

A gentleman's fresh fragrance on a whole another level! Oud Vert Intense by Fragrance Du Bois! With a spiced up fresh opening I am absolutely addicted to this scent! The sharp ginger with the sharpest citrus bergamot just pierces through your nose. After the opening it looses its freshness and gets spicier. Cardamom, nutmeg and coriander. The citrussy freshness is then replaced by vetiver. The combination with ginger still goes strong. I dont pick up on a heavy oud note, but others do. I always find the oud in Fragrance Du Bois to be very elegant, not overly done however present in such a way that it elevates the scent! Its elegant. Its classy. Its Intense. I finally have a larger bottle of this one, after having owned a 15mL. Excellent perfume!

I like this! It is a part of the 'oud' series, though there's not much oud in it. This is the freshest among the lot I tried. While the others are typical orientals with rose, amber, etc, this fragrance has a focus on bergamot-spices and geranium/vetiver. There might be a bit of oud showing up at the end, but minuscule on my skin. After a very pleasant bergamot/vetiver opening, this blends in with spices such as cardamom and coriander seeds. Quite masculine, I would think. It lasts rather a long time and the sillage is medium. Tried it in Bangkok in the Intercontinental arcade. They told me the oud is harvested sustainably in Thailand. Update: the scent is good, but the spraying mechanism is poor quality

Upon first spray, you will be immediately greeted with strong ginger with a bit of citrus then followed by large dose of cardamom. Slight rosy nuance to balance the spicy accords. The oud here supports and pushes the notes out and is noticable but not "there" if that makes sense. I cannot see this as a high-heat summer frag. Maybe at most at 85 degrees. Classy. Suitable for formal, semi formal maybe smart casual. Versatile night and day. Edit: Longevity 6 to 7 hrs Projects 2hrs. Skin scent the rest Performance wise is just okay Not worth the retail price. If you could get a tester worth $150 then go for it.

Very expensive for a fresh fragrance but smells sublime nonetheless. Beautiful citrus oils, photorealistic flowers and a few spicies and woods to ground it. It s not really unique but the blend and quality is perfect. It’s light, airy and substantial at the same time. Very similar vibe and uses to Xerjoff Nio and Guerlain Homme, this one being less bitter,green,lighter and easier to wear. Perfectly unisex too, on a woman’s skin the floral notes would stand out more. If price is not a problem this is up there with the best warm weather fragrances of all time.

Fresh , Soapy , and Masculine as hell. You can really smell the quality of raw ingredients used in this one. With a very strong green dominating note ; probably dirty vetiver lifted with citruses . My Most common compliment: “ Dayum , you smell clean as hell” , but that’s all there is to it. Longevity is impeccable , it never comes off my clothes. A 50 ml bottle is plenty for a life time if you have multiple bottles of fragrances in rotation.

Oud Vert Intense opens with a burst of refreshing citrus, complemented by a crisp, minty effervescence, almost soda-like. The oud is subtle here, much less intense than the name suggests. However, this is actually a positive, as it allows the fragrance to remain clean and light. The longevity is decent, though it stays close to the skin. This is my favorite fragrance from this house.

An aromatic beauty! One of my top “go to’s" for spring and summer. It’s fresh yet complex and seductive with the bergamot, coriander, and ginger wonderfully blended to perfection and lead as the protagonist notes! There is also an essence of musk, geraniums, smoky Oud, cedar and vetiver that complete this aromatic jewel! An exceptional fragrance for anyone and a compliment getter!

dirty green fragrance. probably what u wud smell like if u are wearing a freshly laundered office attire and roll urself on grass and u get grass and soil stains on the shirt... the oud really pushes this perfume on the verge of dirty but still very classy. if u get what i mean. this in my book is nothing short than a masterpiece. 10/10

This opens up very fresh,clean and spicy.And Drys down to a spicy and vetiver heavy scent. It's extremely well blended and that's what makes it worth it for me. Although it's labeled as "intense" It's most definitely subtle . But nevertheless it's worth it to me, as it got 14 hours of longevity

at first spray it smelled really synthetic(probably because of the ginger and bergamot) but after a while it became this fresh citrusy smell which i like for during the day and hot environment. Not bad for my first FDB fragrance

The best citrus in perfumery. Hands down!! And the geranium note in this is stunning. The mixture of the two blend perfectly. Note: Aedes des Venustas 'Pelargonium' is a less expensive option. They're 95% similar.

Good Stuff right here highly recommend this to anyone if you are looking for a nice citrus fresh fragrance but want to be unique at the same time this is one worth checking out.

Astonishingly great. Vibrant, crafted to perfection, oud just about in the background to give this fresh citrus some depth. Best fresh zingy citrus I've ever sniffed.

A perfectly blended fragrance. A superb citrus aromatic. The transitions from opening to dry down are among the best I’ve ever smelled. Incredible.

This is like a mix of Oud Noir and Oud Bleu

Im not usually a fan of aromatic, citrus scents, but the spices in this make it a combination of fresh yes warm and spicy, and it’s really rather lovely. One of the best from the shades range in my opinion, along with orange and jaune. Definitely unisex, and I’d enjoy wearing it inspring and summer.

Wdpnrds u must’ve smelled a fake , like where the hell you getting stinky oud , are you meaning animalic? This smells fresh to me nothing stinky about it in fact it’s really soapy and zingy from ginger , idk how I’d justify paying what they are asking but it smells nice ... No full bottle for me

Opens up similar-ish to Xerjoff Nio, but maybe not as sharp. Seems to have more a floral, slight warmth, and like almost soapy aspect to it. Pretty good.

The only thing intense about this is the price tag. It’s rather light on my skin and does not project very far but it smells nice at all stages.

Deceptively named. This is a subtle, airy, citric green fragrance. Not heavy or dense. Not intense. The oud is a distant memory. Low quality, cleaning product lemon note. Boring. Understated. Subtle to a fault. Not FdB’s finest moment, but does boil down to a pleasant, sharp green skin scent. Once there, the fragrance is objectively 🙂.

Not identical, but close to Basso by Sospiro. A bit soapy and slightly animalic, which is the main difference here. It's good, but Basso does this DNA a heck of a lot better in every aspect IMO. Not a hater, I own a few from Fragrance Du Bois that I adore, just being honest.

Oh dear - there is an antiseptic spray called "Pine O Clean" that I was immediately reminded of when I sprayed this. It is an unfortunate association, which I am trying to deprogram in order to appreciate the fragrance for itself. But sadly, I haven't been able to do that quite yet. Oud Vert Intense can be summed up as a fresh green fragrance. It seems like a simple fragrance. Opens sharp and is quick to round out into an aromatic citrus, which pairs well with the ginger. It dries down into a woody scent. The oud is soft, which I will only say because I am lead to believe there is oud here. If I was to be blind-tested, I know oud is not a note that I will say I detect. Otherwise, good longevity and projection. I've got quite a number of FDB perfumes, but this isn't one I will be purchasing. I think if I had used other brands of antiseptic sprays, I might have enjoyed this very much. I just can't get Pine O Clean out of my mind. I will revisit this later.

With 'Intense' in the name, I was expected a strong fragrance. This is anything but that - it has some citrusy and some woody notes, but so low key, right from the start. I can hardly smell it after 1 hour. There have been similar complaints on Youtube and other fragrance sites about Fragrance du Bois products being recently re-formulated and now weaker than the originals, and I agree with those opinions.

Ok, not a blind buy. A summer smell and i cant get any oud out of this one.

Oud Vert Intense is a fresh spicy woody fragrance, I don’t feel that it is a green fragrance as the fragrance name implies and I don’t detect any oud except a slight hints in the opening. It opens with a natural smelling bergamot sweetened by cardamom with slight zingy touch from ginger, a prominent linalool coming from the coriander and some green herbal note, almost like clary sage. After a few minutes, a warm sweet-spicy nutmeg note starts appearing along with the lemony rosy metallic geranium, the geranium starts to dominate after a few minutes extending the freshness of the citrus top notes, the far drydown consists of a simple woody base consisting of vetiver mainly with hints of a dry woody accord. To me, this fragrance is clearly inspired by Cartier Declaration, I see it as a reconstruction of Declaration, removing many notes such as caraway, birch wood, iris, pepper, and the large dose of Iso E Super, and emphasizing on the fresh spicy side of the fragrance. To sum up, the complexity of Declaration was removed and more focus was put on the quality of the ingredients. Even though I enjoy this fragrance, I believe that it is too overpriced for what it offers and it is not unique.

Rich joyful opening, juicy, mature, get the sweet ripe Citrus, solid, personally get a candy like accord that stays around 30 min in the early mid. Cozy slight sweet from the get go, not at all bitter on skin, get the bitter and spices bundle on paper though, with the earthy greenery and freshness, real considerable difference. Smooth yet dense, sophisticated, definitely higher concentration, so far, three days in don't get the base woody notes, Musk and Vetiver too strong, but rather a warm incredibly cozy accord built in the mid and long lasting drydown. Brings home so well, not entirely sure why, incredibly memorable, charming, all purpose but will turn it into a special occasion for sure.

Could be the most likeable and safe scent profile from the house. Just very clean and soapy. Opens up with a burst of ginger, geranium and cardamom. Geranium comes off as quite feminine, but once you get past the opening and the geranium starts to fade, that's when the scent starts to shine with Coriander, Nutmeg and vetiver. It gives off a soapy smell with a hint of florals from the geranium. And that's how it smells through the entire life of the fragrance. Very natural and clean smelling. Based on what i've tried so far, the soapy touch to this is quite unique compared to other soapy scents out there. If you're into soapy and clean scents, this is definitely a unique one.

A soapy, spicy green opening. Geranium and ginger pop out most, especially in the opening, with spices and woods more in the drydown. It's very soapy, very clean, very summery. I get a small sense of clean oud in this, nothing fecal at all, but I wouldn't call this an oud-forward scent, at all. Longevity is decent, around 6-7 hours on my skin with it noticeable at a distance for an hour or two. A 7.5/10 for me. Smells like a higher quality, soapy designer scent. If this were $150-200/100ml, sure, I'd say it fills the same space as Creed Vetiver as a nicer alternative to similar designer green soap scents. At 4-5x that price? It's a joke.

Has anyone found any difference between the original FDB bottles labelled ‘Eau De Parfum’ and the newer bottles labelled ‘Parfum’? I get such poor longevity and projection from this and I’m sure my samples were better. Have heard rumours of reformulation which FDB denied. I regrets buying this tbh. I like the smell but the performance is really bad for me. On a separate note I tried Declaration by Cartier and they smell very close.. Declaration smells like OVI but with the added cumin note which I don’t like.. it smells like someone with body odour is wearing OVI!

I'm usually turned off by obnoxious prices like this, but I have to say it's a really nice scent. To me, I get a very juicy grapefruit note in the beginning. Maybe that's the combo of ginger and bergamot that's giving me that illusion. Nonetheless, it's sparkling and fresh and realistic. I couldn't stop smelling it. The oud is very very light, barely detectable but there is an overall transparent woody vibe running through it all. I agree this is way lighter than "intense" conveys. All in all though, I enjoyed it.

Vetiver, soapy pine, cardamom, bergamot, lime and an aquatic vibe. Oud, if there is any of the real stuff in here, is barely present. There is a balsamic, aquatic vibe vaguely reminiscent of some Sri Lankan varities but that could be another note playing tricks. One of FdB's better scents, at least if it behaves on your skin like it does on paper. On my skin this becomes a rather generic green citrus aromatic. Pleasant and even elegant but spice and oud needs to be in the forefront for this to work IMO.

Opening is great. The citrus opening reminds me a lot to Terre d'Hermes Eau Tres Fraiche (even better) with added spiciness. First minute great, but suddenly came the Oud (or what I guess is Oud) Being Honest, I almost can't percieve it in the air, but when I get my hand close to my nose... I clearly smell some fecal odor and I hate it. Calms down 10 min later, but still there. So.. I don't know what to think about this fragrance. I wish they had not put Oud in this.

I have a 2ml sample. The freshness of the citrus's seem to compete with the spiciness of nutmeg and coriander, but it's working for me as a classy, summer fragrance. The bergamot and ginger work well and I don't get any oud from this, which isn't a bad thing for a summer fragrance. However, at the price point, i would expect to smell the oud and for it to be more dominant. Nice fragrance, wrong price point.

Declaration absolutely, hermes at times too, but does its own thing. I finished my bottle of declaration back in the day and never repurchased another bottle. A solid addition to the collection. Put on 4 sprays 2 minutes after showering. strong projection and silage for 3 1/2 hours died down. Then got active 3 hours after that and it kicked up strong. Very solid performer 8.3 out of 10.

I don't quite get this one. It smells like an old dusty lemon someone left in the corner of an abandoned house. Not entirely in a pejorative sense, I just personally would not like to smell like this. Not blind buy safe.

Sampled this recently and was instantly wowed ! This is a very classy fragrance. I have no idea why the words, “ oud “ and “intense” are on the title. This is Brunello Cuccinelli smooth. Quiet elegance.

Beautiful citrua floral herbal beauty for summers. Feels green and summery. Done to perfection with high quality ingredients. Lasts a very long time. Gets better with the dry down. Fantastic. 8.5/10.

I like this. I was pleasantly surprised that it actually did seem strong to me. Maybe because my sample has been sitting around for probably a year.

Dont let the hype get you! It is a mix of cartier declaration and voyage d'hermes! And for 400 dollars!!!!
