01 01 Iris Safran

I normally don't like anything deemed as "powdery", but this... this is quite beautiful! Sillage is quite soft, and what comes to my mind is crisp, white linen freshly-taken-in from hanging on a line- but not just any linen: this is fine, hand-embroidered with sparse gold threads. It is the poetry in the very air of the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque of Abu Dhabi. I am nearly speechless from the elegance.

My favorite from the fragrance republic line. Wow this is full bottle worthy to me! As the description says, it's a beautiful iris that smells fresh because of the pear and bergamont.

Gauzy, aqueous, translucent, yet terrifyingly chemical-smelling, this is a benzyl salicylate and saffraleine bomb accompanied by a scratchy-dry kind of ionone-iris/grapefruit accord that gets more shouty as the scent settles. To add to the abrasiveness, the main scent appears to be resting on a ghastly calone and white musk base. While I like the nod toward transparency, it’s far too synthetically taxing—bordering on painful. Imagine Clean Perfume trying to riff on Iris Ukiyoé or something. I’m going to assume that there was a very limited budget involved with producing this. Grim and stingy.

I loved this one. Iris is one my favorite notes and it smells so wonderfully done in this perfume. Not synthetic but quite natural smelling. Not a powder bomb either. I do smell some citrus in beginning which balances it very well. Ambrette adds mild sweetness to perfume. Musk which adds depth to ambrette makes it a bit powdery concoction.
