Barakkat Rouge 540 Extrait de Parfum

I did not have high hopes for this dupe, and I’m a bit embarrassed how much I actually like it (I have the EDP version which is not listed on Fragrantica). It has a certain elegance and sophistication that contrasts with the addictive nature of the scent, suggesting an underlying desire for intimacy, or at least this is how I read it. It sparks intrigue, leaves the person smelling it wanting more. And she lasts. In general, one of the great strengths of the BR540 DNA is the complete lack of resemblance to scents one might find in a Walmart. Many people complain that certain scents remind them of cleaning products or candles, or even old ladies, teenage boys, etcetera. This smells far more exotic. If I had to compare it to something, I would say it is like a smooth, high quality incense blend with a tinge of sweetness, but even this is not a great explanation. It is an exquisite blend of saffron, deep woods, jasmine, almond, musk, and a touch of cold metal that feels like it should contrast with the warmth of the scent profile, but rather sharpens its deeper notes. A perfect fragrance for the nighttime, although it can be worn in the day if you’re inclined. Smells great on any gender, but works best if you can embody the intrigue that the scent emanates. Also a wonderful fragrance for winding down for bed, and actually remains on my skin long enough to greet me when I wake up in the morning 🤤

I smell raspberry cotton candy with the burning metal machine. I think almond notes tend to smell like cherry, the blend here is really giving me a gorgeous deep resinous raspberry. It is so immersive in depicting a cotton candy machine at the fair and it is so sweet and dense yet airy at the same time, just like dense shards of charring sugar and the spun cloud at the same time, the wiry strands and the soft fluff. I only fear the metallic aspect to it might come across too synthetic and bother others in my vicinity but to me it is telling a story and I find it so enjoyable. The projection is not the best but okay for this price which is normally body mist range, this is far better than a body mist but probably not as good as a Lattafa. It is strong though you can definitely smell it, just not with very far sillage, but you can smell a good lasting scent bubble. Very enjoyable and so far the most full on cotton candy scent I have tried that truly meets my idea of what I am looking for. I know nothing of the original so cannot give any comparison but this is really good in its own right especially for being so dirt cheap.

probs one of my favourites in my collection. i like it because it’s not as popular as the EDP and it got me a compliment on the first day i wore it. i get about 8-10 hours on my skin and wayyy longer on clothes. it smells more grown up compared to the EDP (hope i’m making sense) & it seems to be getting better with time cause it was really harsh when i first got it. overall 8/10, no complaints so far.

This reminds me so much of my beloved Alien. I love amber and jasmine scents. It sits very close to the skin and I think it lasts maybe 3 hours on me at most, but it is an enjoyable 3 hours.

I have owned a lot of BR540 dupes. Too many. This one is my favorite. Sprays on without any alcohol smell at all. It feels rounder, warmer and a bit sweeter. I love this one very much.

I got this, and it immediately smells interesting. It is very nutty and slightly spicy, only slightly, and that would be the saffron. It's sweet but not sickly. I've seen many reviews saying it's more masculine, which I disagree with. It thoroughly depends on your body chemistry and preference - it works for both masculine and feminine scent profiles. I'm going to let it sit for a while so it can settle, but the one spray I applied is projecting like crazy, so be careful not to overdo the application. Otherwise, I like it, it's right up my alley. I do love sweet and fun fragrances, but I was looking for something mildly grown but not too powdery, floral or masculine, and this smells perfect. It smells very pretty but not too juvenile. I can tell I will love it when I revisit it. Update: You do have to let this one sit. The scent settled, and the harsh alcohol aspect is gone. It's sweet, nutty and metallic. I adore this scent profile.

Strong Play-Doh smell especially close to skin, that fades after 30 minutes. I assume that’s the bitter almond, but I’m hoping this mellows out after aging a little because the rest of it smells how I remember br450 smelling (strength and accuracy). Much preferred over Ana Abiyedh Rouge as that smells overly sweet.

Smells soft and sweet with a hint of spiciness from the saffron and light smokiness. It does somewhat have a cardboard smell to it.

Smells like rock candy on my skin, the og is much better and I wouldn't call this even a close clone. This smells like rock candy mixed with some cooling ambroxan feel and some stale cardboard feel idk from what ingredient they used. og smells like realistic animalic ambergris accord mixed with burned sugar and a flowery ethereal hedione. Og is much oilier and thicker too and actually lasts unlike this clone. Nope! nope! nope!!! Kept getting this suggested in my profile — I guess due to my preference for woody notes. Well, any woodiness rapidly depletes / dies away! You’ve been warned! At first , I thought this chemical weirdness could dry down/ dissipate, but the only thing that emerged in the end... was burned plastic chemicals that waft through the air— in excess and in every direction. Conjures up nasty images of a seedy bar lounge in a sad part of an inner city. Industrial, rubber, plastic, burnt, rancid. That’s all that’s left behind, and a Migraine!!! Absolutely Horrible.

Smells like hot glue after being heated, so basically melting plastic combined with glue. It doesn’t evolve or become smoother like the real br540 extrait If you’re looking for br540, look into instant crush or GoS Rouge, there’s literally no point in wasting even a dollar on sampling this

I got mine from Filled with Bakarah as a 3 part gift box, and they sent me perfume by Brandy Designs instead of Fragrance World. But BD isn’t on Fragrantica. This looks *exactly* like the FW packaging with “Brandy Designs” instead of “Fragrance World”. Is it a dupe of a dupe? Is it the actual FW perfume with a different label? There’s a BD website, but their london office is supposedly closed (according to British business license website). It’s a mystery. This one went on and .... disappeared. Smelled like nothing within seconds. So fast I couldn’t even decide if I liked the first spray. It smelled like something perfumed and then.... gone. Liike it never existed. Shouldn’t have bothered.

I unknowingly bought a fake of this off eBay LOL. As in a fake of a clone. It was from a suspicious seller so I half-expected it. The fake bottle is REALLY similar with minor differences in details, and the juice is *insanely* weak like an eau fraiche (1-3% concentration; probably more like 1%) for what is meant to be a beast mode scent - but the scent profile is accurate. I have most other Barakkat bottles to compare it to.

For some reason I got a tester of this with my latest purchase and even for a cheap Middle Eastern fragrance this smells absolutely rancid and shocking. Why anyone would wear this in a world in which there are thousands and thousands of high quality, pleasant and affordable fragrances is beyond me. I think I would literally feel sick if someone around me was wearing this, especially indoors. Jeez what a mess.

I have edp version of it that is not in the database here. It smells like br540 but without the nauseating dentist smell in there. It lasts for good 6 hours. I dare to say it's even better than br540. Not so loud, not having you in a choke hold for a whole day, not nauseating. Perfection.

This is a knockoff. See where it shows you other fragrances made by the same brand if you look it’s by Fragrance World. It’s a great looking knockoff, they do a darn good Tom Ford as well. There are not flankers of 540, it’s just a fake. I hope nobody paid big bucks for this
