Barakkat Satin Oud

Got mine from JomaShop. Blind bought this as a guy wanting something in the rose family for cheap. Still too early to be definitive, but this seems like a successful blind buy for me: I don’t need to “trick” myself into enjoying this as at all, I find it nice in the first instant. This one shines to me in the air. The scent takes on a completely different character with my nose to my skin. When I first smelled it out of the box, I happened to be looking at other mail that came in: there was a magazine with candy heart clip art. The scent immediately associated itself with the candy hearts in my mind, specifically the pink, rosy ones. In the air, it’s a nice dry, powdery, addictive candied rose. I love drier, powdery versions of most brighter notes (like florals and citruses), so this landed perfectly for me. Up close, a whole different story. I’m not too experienced with identifying notes, but the rose becomes much more realistic: more dewy and leaning into some greenness, still wrapped in a fresh sweetness. The greenness feels like a gateway to the woody oud heart of the fragrance, which isn’t too prominent or overwhelming for me, it behaves nicely in the background. Can’t speak too much yet towards the intensity, but given the fragrance comes across different in the air vs. up close, I’d imagine this is better suited for colder weather and night time. I could wear this in many scenarios, but I think the most fitting would be during something cozy but still active, like date night holiday shopping errands at an outdoor strip mall. Very specific (the fragrance is more versatile than just that) but that helps convey the vibe I get.

I worked in a beauty store that sold Oud Satin Mood by MFK, I ended up being able to take home a small bottle of it and fell in love with the scent. The bottle lasted me all the way up until I left and without the discount I couldn’t justify buying the OG. I ended up buying this on a whim after seeing so many good reviews on it & I’m so happy I did! Straight out the bottle with no maceration; it’s 97% accurate to the original. I’d say the initial spray without maceration is similar to Rose water & Turkish delights, it lacks the same depth as MFK and is missing the oud note. However, as it develops it gets closer and closer to the original. If you don’t mind a strong rose water scent at first i’d 100% recommend getting this perfume, especially since the scent evolves the longer you leave it and eventually morphs into an even stronger, longer lasting version of the MFK. If you’re not okay with buying it and letting it sit for a long period of time, or you don’t like the scent of rose, i’d suggest you steer clear and find another fragrance. The OG MFK is very rose heavy too. It’s a completely safe blind buy if you know that you love Rose & Violet, especially at the beginning of the bottle. It is not safe if you don’t enjoy it. This fragrance smells luxurious, it smells like wealth, it smells effortlessly amazing. It’s a serious fragrance that smells incredible on man or woman!

I have both bottles, the Barakkat and the new B Satin Oud version, and I can confidently say that this is not the same juice 100 percent. In my opinion, the original is by far the better one. The Barakkat version is overall stronger than B Satin Oud. It opens with violet taking the spotlight early on, before softening and blending beautifully with the rose. It starts off floral-heavy but gradually evolves into a powdery floral with subtle sweetness and the woodiness of oud. B Satin Oud, on the other hand, opens directly with rose, with just a hint of violet within it. It is sweeter right from the start compared to Barakkat. Overall, it feels slightly tuned to be more immediately appealing to a wider audience. Keep in mind that I got my bottles relatively new, so I will update my comment once they have had more time to masserati. But based on my initial impressions, If you want a scent that evolves and feels a bit more niche, Barakkat is the version to go for. If you prefer something more linear and mass-pleasing, B Satin Oud is your pick.

Love this!!! Let it macerate for a week or two. The initial spray is nothing to write home about but after a minute it settles into the most jammy rose scent I have ever smelled. Jammy like Cooper and Thief Red Blend wine (IYKYK). It is not a sweet perfume. It does have a "powderyness", most likely from the violet, to it throughout the life of the perfume but it's very minor. It's very alluring and sexy but is also comforting. I imagine a rich, hot cougar in a bar with a young man burying his head against her, finding comfort and peace in her scent after a traumatic heartbreak. I also picture a dark fantasy queen that doesn't hesitate carrying out atrocities. The oud, rose, and vanilla are the stars of this show, remaining the most prevalent throughout the life of the perfume. One day I will get my hands on the original and I can't wait to try it. Synthetic jammy Violet nuke, Smells like a room freshener. It doesn't really smell like the og but maybe gives you an idea of what it smells like (I didn't like the og either), maybe it's cloning the extrait, gets very vanillic in the drydown Impressions are right out of the box, I'll let it sit longer and see, currently it's very synthetic and irritating, I sneeze a lot whenever I spray it. Edit: 2 weeks have passed, the fragrance mellowed out its edges very gracefully. It became such a beautiful and comforting scent to spray, it's Creamy and Powdery idk how to explain it, it's like "baby wipes" but in the most beautiful way. one of the few fragrances I have that I consider literal mood enhancers. I change my opinion this is a solid 8.5/10 especially for the price. Don't judge it harshly out of the box like I did.
