REVIEWER: Professional gentleman in his 60's with the mature, masculine, old-school tastes one would expect from a fellow my age. These are just one old guy's not so humble opinions. Your mileage may vary. ---IMPERIUM by Fragrance World--- FRAGRANCE: After a couple months of maturation Imperium has evolved from initially screechy and harsh with a timid, brief drydown to an exquisite olfactory experience with somewhat longer legs. The drydown is impressively complex. I've not experienced the OG, so I can only offer this academic comparison: Imperium has all the 22 notes listed for Roja Elysium. PERFORMANCE: First, the smell of a fragrance is my primary concern. Longevity and sillage are but distant, minor considerations. Being conservative in behavior, style and presentation, I have no need for beast-mode bangers. My clubbing, crazy music festival, and mosh-pit days are behind me. For those of you who DO value performance, consider this: Lack of endurance is easily overcome by decanting your frag into an inexpensive travel sprayer and reapplying as required. Projection is more frag-dependent, but most frags can be made more powerful by simply overspraying. The initial longevity of Imperium was REALLY short. If I were to apply it and then light up a robusto cigar, the cigar would outlast the frag, about 30 minutes. After maturation the legs got longer, but they're still stubby, about two hours, max. This makes Imperium a perfect choice for the gym, especially if I want to wear something else afterward. If I need it longer, I use the travel spray and reapply every couple of hours. I REALLY love that delightful, sharp citrusy opening and this gives me the opportunity to enjoy it several times a day. And at $22/100ml, I can respray forever without pecuniary procrastination. As for sillage, it is more than sufficient for my needs without overspraying. Again, performance can almost always be enhanced by the wearer. The smell, however, is not a variable that you can control, and Imperium is beautiful. VERSATILITY: I'd wear Imperium all year, night and day, casual or formal. It's got the brightness for summer day and complexity and warmth enough for winter nights... if you top it off. ALTERNATIVE: Sadly, I also purchased a bottle of A Fraghead's Asylum by FOMO. AFA has but eight notes compared to the 22 notes listed for both Elysium and Imperium. And some of AFAs notes are different. Even after maturation I only realized a longevity of about 60 anemic, boring minutes. Yeah, it's absolutely pitiful. See the comparison below. I have Roja Elysium and Imperium and I find the two extremely similar; to me, there is a bit more black pepper in the OG Elysium's opening notes which Imperium lacks, but quickly after that the scent profile is nearly identical to my nose. I must admit that its a very accessable and good smelling opening fruity citrus note. One of the problems with either scent is the longevity - Imperium especially seems to evaporate after 4 hours and is definitely a skin scent by 2-3 hrs. I really only get 1-2 hours on this scent with minimal projection, and that was after about 10 sprays. So overspray and reapply - at these prices you won't mind. I wonder if the imperium intense solves that problem, even by a bit. Just stretching it out to 4-6 hours would be ideal. I'm going to let this one macerate a bit and see if that solves the longevity issue.

I've had this one for a while. Really inexpensive (I got it for around $15 on Amazon), so good value for your money. Smells really nice (fresh and clean; citrus and a lot of other things going on on top of a woody base... but doesn't last very long (maybe two hours on skin; a bit longer on clothing) on the hottest of summer days. Also doesn't project very loudly. Go heavy on the sprays: it's inexpensive, smells nice, and you won't choke anyone out with this one. Totally inoffensive and office-appropriate. Good in all occasions. Masculine. Spring and summer scent... put this one away in the fall when the weather starts to cool down. If you're not disappointed with the lack of projection and longevity, and you'll like this. Not much not to like about the scent profile and price, so you won't regret picking this one up!

Fragrance Journal Entry #67 Okay so this is about as close to elysium and you can probably get (80%ish). With that said here are the differences...they both start out with that sort of metallic blue fruit punchy accord that we all love, but one key difference Roja is much earthier which provides a level of depth that Imperium does not have. There's an obvious quality difference side by side as well but for all intensive purposes this gets you close enough for the price. Roja performs a bit better which isn't saying much because they both perform poorly. I reserve Imperium for gym fragrance or before bed. Rating: 7.8/10 Blind Buy Safe? YES

that thing had so terrible performance i didn't wear it for an year. i mean it smells really good, but it was weak as explicit word. you have to douze yourself in it for at least an hour of arm-length projection. after an year it didn't improve that much, but it still a nice scent, kinda an upbeat take on terre d'hermes. it has that nice juicy citrus mixed with a vetiver with the fizzy juniper and a bublegum/cotton candy sweetness at the backend. if you treat it for what it is - a 7up/sprite of a perfume, cheap and easy going, it's pretty good.

Smell so nice and refreshing elegant and I like it. I saw many people mentioned it's poor longevity but 6 hours before I sprayed one spray on my arm and still I smell it. So idk I think it's impressive. I bought it for 7 pound on bidding. . Worth the money enjoyable nice fragrance. I don't try the OG but this smells so similar to Montblanc explorer the black bottle. So the Creed DNA. Just this sweeter and smell lighter so for me better.

Performance aside, this one smells awesome. I know I've smelt this before, in fact I know that I had something that smelled just like this one, just can't remember which one it was! I don't care if I have to re-apply in the middle of the day and carry a decant.

What can i say? 15€ for this is not even funny, brands like roja should shamed for the prices they are asking for perfume that last like 4 hours

This is nice and citrussy bright, aromatic, spicy and a bit soapy to my nose. Its a good smell. The sillage and longevity are not good.

bought a sample of this a couple of months ago, back when it was still winter in Greece. At first, I honestly couldn’t decide if I liked it or not. It had this slightly 80s vibe that felt a bit strange something familiar, but also modern at the same time. About a month later, I gave it another try, and that’s when it clicked. I really started to like it. That slightly “80s” feeling seemed to fade, and the thyme note which at first reminded me a lot of Greek food became softer and more balanced. That’s when I decided to go for the full bottle. To me, it smells like a sunny noon in Greece during late spring. Like sitting under a vineyard, feeling a light breeze, with summer just around the corner. It’s fresh, green, citrusy, with a slightly oily touch probably from the thyme. Very outdoorsy, very uplifting... it just puts you in a good mood. Performance-wise, it doesn’t last that long on skin, so I’d suggest spraying it on clothes if you want it to stick around more. As for the presentation, I like the color of the bottle it fits the scent well. Still, I can’t help but think it would look even better in a more oval-shaped bottle, like those designers used 20 years ago.

The biggest notes I get out of this are a mildly sweet grapefruit, cedar wood (think pencil shavings), a slight aquatic note, and soapy blue shower gel. There's no spice to it like Alexandria Fragrances' "Zion," which I had a few years ago; there's certainly no vetiver, as everyone has been voting for; I've smelled both Haitian Vetiver essential oil, and currently own a bottle of Molecule 03 Vetiveryl Acetate, I can't pick up either of those in this scent. If there is any sort of vetiver smell to this at all, it's very minimal. All that said, this is a quintessential blue dumb-reach fragrance. Definitely a work-safe and blind-buy-safe fragrance; the only drawback is the performance: I get about 5 or 6 hours on skin before it's completely gone, and projection is very low. The durability on clothing, however, is INSANE, so your mileage and results may vary. If you're looking for a beast-mode blue fragrance, this isn't it, but this is an okay fragrance for the price, provided you're not spending more than $25 to $30 on it.

Ready for some Roja Parfums Elysium on the cheap? I really let this one sit, but it had nothing to do with the scent profile and everything to do with performance. After testing in mid-April it was clear maturation was required to improve longevity as it was fading far too quickly. It's essentially a blue fragrance with a nice citrus open of grapefruit and lime that quickly develops into a green cypriol and vetiver dominant heart accented by black currant effervescent juniper. The cedar base is semi-sweet, a touch salty, with underlying creamy suede. Longevity is better coming up on 3 months after initial testing (and considerably better on clothes), but is still far too short to consider use outside of the gym, a post shower scent, or for quick errands. The scent profile is vastly superior to Hugo Reversed (it would be a high love rating if it had any ability to last), but that Hugo Reversed at 4 hours skin longevity is double what Imperium achieves at the moment so I can't put it above a like.

This is a decent fragrance. I have not smelled the original but I do like the overall profile. A very versatile, easy to wear fragrance. Some compare it to Aventus, which it does slighty resemble, but no pineapple or smoke. it also reminds me a bit of PDM Perseus. I smell the citrus and vetiver primarily. The smell did improve after about a month to where I enjoy the opening much more now. Even after waiting the performance is still a bit weak on skin, about 1.5 hours of med projection, than another 2.5 hours of faint projection, and a weak skin scent for the last hour, completely gone after about 5 hours. great price and a beautiful bottle. There are DNAs that I like more that also perform better to where I would probably not repurchase this bottle

The opening is spot on, about 90% similar to Elysium Cologne. As it dries down, you start to notice some differences, mainly the vetiver. In Elysium, the notes feel more natural and layered, with a dry, slightly smoky vetiver. In Imperium, the notes are flatter if that makes sense, and the vetiver is that basic green type you find in cheaper designer fragrances. Performance is similar to Elysium Cologne: 5–6 hours on skin (after 3 months of maturation). It projects loudly for 20–30 minutes, then moderately for about an hour, before finally becoming intimate for the rest of its life on skin. Still, for the price it’s worth a try— citrusy, fresh, aromatic, and a little spicy. A solid 7.8 / 10 in its price range (£18 to £23)

Simple citrus fragrance for everyday casual use. Easy reach, no brainer, compliment getter. 10 sprays will get you through the day. Its light and airy. May not project, but you can smell it all day. These are my types of fragrances. Fresh, citrus, a little sweet. Confident and clean is what you are depicting here. For the price, its hard to beat.

Finally we got a page for this its a good fragrance but smells a bit artificial i didnt smell the roja one so can only talk about this and doesnt last that long also which is something to know i paid around 15$ for it which is crazy cheap

It has been 2 years since I purchased it at a very cheap price like 10$ here in UAE, Its such a wonderful aromatic fresh and citrusy moderate scent, clones the OG beautifully, especially in the opening. Last only 3-4 hours indoors.

I live the smell, but it just doesn't last. Took it to Mexico with me and after about an hour it faded and there is just a hint close to your skin. Even after overs spraying on skin and clothes. Still... I love the smell of it.

A very nice smelling fragrance with minimal projection and longevity. Great for after gym or running around doing errands. Office safe because no one will smell it after 2 hours lol... Solid like for me... Enjoy!

Basically, Imperium smells of nothing. If you press your nose right up close to your skin you might get a bit of sweet citrus turning to a juniper/pine after 3 minutes. Then fades to nothing. I'm hoping this gets a bit of a boost with maturity 🙏 it has just arrived 🙏 as it does have a lovely albeit extremely faint whiff, but I'm not holding my breath!

It's a good fragrance. Light, citrusy, vetiver. Gives a fresh handsoap vibes. The only downside is performance and projection. But at this price, we can't really complain I guess.

Very easy review. Smells great , does not last.or proyect. Good for gym or a quick errand. Thats about it. If posible get it for less than 20 and you won't feel bad.

As a clone - terrible - not as good as OG with poor performance. Great bottle though.

It opens with pineapple that is half fruity and half citrusy. After 20 minutes, once it cools down, it smells almost like Aventus but without the smoky note, basically like Creed but missing the only good element in that ugly fragrance Very average. It works as a semi fresh, semicasual fragrance. Compared to perfumes in this category, its rating within the category is acceptable at 6.75/10, good but not distinctive. Compared to perfumes overall, I rate it 4/10. A boring fragrance, and it carries that Aventus smell which I personally find to be one of the ugliest scents.

I don’t want to yuck anyone’s yum, but this is a dog shit fragrance with dog shit performance. The top notes are overly synthetic, there’s literally no middle to this fragrance, and the base is atrocious as it smells completely off. I now own this pile of dog shit because I needed to add another $12 to qualify for “free” expedited shipping and thought, What the hell? I’ll add another bottle to the collection and save $3. The only redeeming quality is that the bottle looks nice from across the room. That’s it. If you’re looking for a similar smell, I’d recommend spilling flat 7UP on yourself while rubbing a rotten wood chip across your shirt. I’m almost pissed I didn’t just pay the extra $3 for shipping. Some poor bastard in a warehouse had to pull this fragrance off a shelf, carry it to a packing station, put it in a box, walk over to the printer, slap on a shipping label, and right before taping the box shut, think to himself: “Some poor dumb bastard fell for the ol’ ‘Only $12 More for Expedited Shipping’ trick again” Touché, monsieur... touché

Folks.....citrus is, by its nature, fleeting. It will fade quickly. This is why it's a TOP note. The good ol' days, when all kinds of sketchy goodies where added to your cologne, are long gone. Adding ambroxan is the only way to prolong the dissipation. One of the BEST citrus fragrances available is Elysium. Why? Not because of its longevity, but because of its composition. No ambroxan. A masterpiece scent. It does EXACTLY what a citrus-forward scent is supposed to do: dissipate. I personally don't buy them because I love tobacco and fougere, but please don't blame the perfumer for a citrus doing exactly what it is supposed to do.

Actually, it does 100% Smell like a flanker of Aventus Imperium Is a dupe of Elysium by Roja, and Elysium Is known to be divisive on whether it smells like Aventus or not, but it objectively does. Although Elysium does not list pineapple as a note, but on the carton box it does mention the use of two of the most known pineapple smelling molecules: - Manzanate (ethyl 2-methylpentanoate): a common pineapple/apple ester. - Allyl amyl glycolate: sweet, pineapple impression.

The first hour is great with opening what I wasn't expecting is the ambroxan deep dry down. The ambergris plays out like it should, but they sneaked in ambroxan in the end. This ruined the whole cologne for me... who cares what the cologne options are if they have ambroxan they all smell the same after that point.. Savauge ,Ysl, Creed, etc etc Highly disappointed another wasted purchase due to perfumers not disclosing their use of ambroxan.

I blind bought this and I'm disappointed because how close it smells to aventus. I love aventus but I already have several others with the DNA and definitely dont need another. I have aventus, aventus cologne, supernova, cdnim, mith, midnight hour, and hacivat. I do however like it better than midnight hour and cdnim. It lasts ok on skin and good on clothes so spray both.

First couple hours is great---blended perfectly---keep getting hits, of strong pencil shavings. Longevity wise , It turns into a skin scent after a few hours, but your co-workers will still smell it, even though you don't. It is a light office scent, for sure---nobody said this is a clubbing beast.

Soapy green grassy sharp up top. you do get a hint of the black current but, you have to be really searching for it. The dry drown is where you'll find more of the fruits comes out but all on all this is really good and really close to elysium the dryer it gets.

Identical to Elysium. For all 20 minutes that it lasts. After 2 years of macurnaturation. The original only lasts about an hour, so it isn't too bad if you like the DNA and don't mind spraying yourself liberally every five to ten minutes.

Basically a summer time daytime aventus DNA...light. Smells good, hope it lasts. However I think i got a fake from Amazon so be careful.
