Kopi Luwak

For those who do not know, Kopi Luwak is a famous Indonesian coffee made from partially digested coffee cherries that have been eaten, partially digested and defecated out by civets. Doesn't sound terribly appetizing but it's apparently the holy grail of coffees. I haven't sampled Kopi Luwak coffee so I can't tell you how close this is to the real thing. I can tell you that it's a high quality potent blend of coffee, rose, woody, oud, and patchouli musk aromas. The coffee and rose notes are very strong, while the others take more of a supporting role. They add a nice slightly sweet touch to the aroma, rounding it out. This is a really great gourmand lovers fragrance. The coffee note is strong and it's good for all occasions and weather for both sexes. You know, just like real coffee. :) Gourmand lovers should be aware of the rose and oud notes present, as they may not be used to them. Still, this is close enough to the aroma of the real thing that you might actually lose the aroma in an actual coffee shop, cafeteria or kitchen where the smell of real coffee abounds. I think this is best for older users who actually do drink coffee as opposed to younger users. Quality is designer level and this is a good performer. Highly recommended.

Boy is this animalic. Overloaded with coffee and oud. The rose is just in the background giving it a slight floral note. The opening is just very bitter and animalic with coffee, quite challenging. Once dry, the sweeter black coffee comes through, a hint of nuttiness and the oud subsides into a musky scent. Really strong black coffee, the type that gives you caffein overdose headache after downing a cup in five minutes. Good for cocktailing with some sweeter or citrusy scents. Not a safe blind buy.

Smells like a rose and coffee booze. I expected a little bit of civet (luwak) to be a true to its name, kopi luwak = civet coffee. However the coffee is there racing back and forth with classic rose-oud scent with an earthy patchouli in the background. Lasting just adequate time on my skin

A cup of good old simple black coffee... sitting on a leather hide with a heap of freshly cut Bulgarian roses right by its side. Unique and definitely not for everyone, but also not a shock fragrance. If you like animalic fragrances, this one wouldn't feel out of the ordinary for you. It's not straight up civet-y as the name might suggest, but the oud gives it that slight "barnyard" feel. And definitely don't get this if you're looking for a sweet coffee kind of scent - this is specifically bitter, sourish black coffee, and the roses are also greenish and sharp as opposed to soft and flowery.

Bought it blindly at a huge discount, almost for free. I can't say I really like it, but I don't dislike it either. It's just OK - a bit suffocating at the start and maybe not very realistic. Not just coffee to my nose, but more like coffee with brandy or rum. Two sprays produce enormous sillage, but it fades pretty quickly. I don’t regret buying it, but I wouldn’t recommend it as a blind buy, especially at full price.

Quite rose forward, i was expecting coffee forward fragrance with rose nuances but i got the other way around instead. I will finish my decant and look for something more along the lines of Theodoros Kalotinis - Coffee addict

This smells TERRIBLE! Perfect Christmas present for a sociopathic mother-in-law.

This is not a blind buy. Too bad you have to wear this one for 12hrs for it to be wearable. Such a gorgeous scent on dry down. Everything before is reminiscent of fresh tobacco and sour wood. It's a mature scent with whisps of dark coffee, that's been spilt on the pages of a vintage book store. I layer this one with geranium rose body oil and enjoy it with rose forward fragrances. I do not enjoy wearing it on its own. Irish coffee is a better wear alone option in this collection.

Luxury turkish delight. Rose and dark chocolate. The rose is fresh and vibrant, the only type of rose i like to wear as a man in his 30s. Coffee and oud are supporting notes. This is strong, upbeat and energetic with a smooth, bitter and deep contrast. The quality is all there. And for the price, this hits hard. Not an everyday scent. More of a statement scent.

Super strong, but right now it only smells like burning coffee. I got this as part of a hunt to find a decent rose/coffee mix and I had high hopes but alas! Haha, hoping the coffee calms down a bit as it ages!

It's like having an unsweetened coffee in a garden of roses while someone is digging a hole next to you.
