Mocha Wood by Fragrance World – My Honest Review This review is based on my personal experience using Mocha Wood. Initial Impressions: Let me start by saying I’ve thoroughly enjoyed this fragrance and have received some really nice compliments while wearing it. That said, it was a bit different from what I initially expected, but that was due to my own misunderstanding. I had anticipated a deeper, stronger coffee scent, but Mocha Wood leans more towards a sweeter, mochaccino or hot chocolate vibe, which, in hindsight, aligns perfectly with its name. Disclaimer: I tend to over-spray (8–10 sprays per use), so your experience with projection and longevity might differ depending on how much you apply. I also have a weak sense of smell, which makes me self-conscious about how I smell to others. Projection: With my level of spraying, the fragrance projects strongly for the first two hours before tapering down. However, it doesn’t disappear after that, it just becomes less intense. Longevity: I apply the fragrance to both my skin and clothes. My workday typically runs from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM (or even later), and I can confidently say it lasts the entire day. On clothes, the scent lingers even longer, sometimes I can still smell it after washing them! On skin, it becomes more of a skin scent by the time I get home, but it’s still noticeable. Scent Profile: While I can’t pinpoint every note listed in the fragrance description, the overall scent is a sweet, coffee-inspired aroma, much like a mochaccino. As it dries down, it retains its sweetness, with a subtle woody undertone in the background. It’s a very sweet, long-lasting fragrance that I’ve come to appreciate. Packaging and Presentation: The packaging is impressive. The box has a velvety texture, which feels luxurious, but the real highlight is the bottle. It’s stunning, resembling an expensive whiskey decanter, with a substantial weight that feels premium. It’s definitely something I’d proudly display. Value for Money: For the price I paid, Mocha Wood is absolutely worth it. I’d recommend it to anyone looking for a sweet, coffee-inspired fragrance. As long as you’re not comparing it to high-end fragrances costing ten times as much, you won’t be disappointed. Final Thoughts: Overall, I’m very happy with my purchase. While the fragrance was slightly different from what I expected (entirely my fault), I’ve grown to love it and can see myself buying Mocha Wood again in the future.

I wanted a coffe&rose experience, but on a cheaper side, and I also saw many good reviews about this, so I decided to blind buy it. I have no regrets, even though understand the "hot garbage" reference, somebody mentioned here earlier... but don't worry, after only a day of maceration, that bit of wrong impression is gone, and the journey begins! Today it's a whole different experience!! But it's more floral, than coffee than the name suggests. It's starts quite fresh with the rose, cafe on the side, hazelnut is also recognisable, but that last note just come and goes. And there comes a beautiful ylang-ylang, and stays, with a non sweet/fresh rosy-bittery-sandalwoody goodness, on my skin. Also it's easy to see, why it's unisex. But have to like roses!! It's a beautiful complex scent, I probably not able to recognise many from the listed tones like patchouli or rubarb, as I'm a beginner at this. It's smells like a niche parfume, it's a hidden gem for those who likes experimenting like me. Longevity and silage is under testing, I came back when I'm sure. Anyway. I think I start to really love this! Edit: I use it for a few weeks now, meanwhile try to macerate it... I barely can keep my hands off of it, sorry. It became kind of a boozy scent, while the ylang-ylang took a more mature turn. The cofe is blending together with the rose notes nicely, it's like a cofe-rose conyac. I enjoy it very much. 1/4 from the bottle is gone, and where are the colder months. It's not a heavy scents, but for colder summer nights is already perfect.

This is a beautiful fragrance. At the purchase price, it is an absolute steal. You expect high quality ingredients from the more expensive fragrances. What business does a fragrance at this price point have smelling so good? This is boozy, jammy rose, gourmand-type fragrance that smells sweet without crossing that line into cloying, sickly sweetness. The notes are interesting but I smell neither tobacco nor oud. If there's coffee in there, it's the sweet kind with plenty of hazelnut syrup and condensed milk and an exotic rose liquor shot on the side for flavor. As it dries down, that opening sweetness lasts throughout the considerable lifespan of the fragrance (6-8hrs) with good projection for the 1 - 1.5hrs. Definitely a cold weather scent - good choice for nights and good for those who want to smell like a dessert during the day as well. I have this down as unisex. Great value and one of the better fragrances at this price point.

This is my favorite from this house and it's not close. It's my signature scent and have 2 backup bottles. Admittedly, this scent is fairly linear, but I don't mine at all. What my nose detects is a dark marriage between the coffee and oud. The oud compliments the coffee perfectly. I do get a dusting of chestnut and rose. The rose gives this some light. The chestnut smooths out that dark duo of coffee and oud, but very slightly. Definitely my favorite scent DNA out of the 120+ fragrances in my collection. Ratings 0-10 Projection: 10 (5 hours easily) Sillage: 10 (this is a shadow) Longevity: 10 (this is very noticeable after 10 hours) Scent: 20 Versatility: 7 (fall and winter, but I push it in the spring) Price: 10 (sub $20 seems like a prank) Overall: 10+ Every single time I've worn this, I've gotten crazy compliments...all unsolicited and mostly by strangers.

From looking at the recent comments, it seems this has been reformulated, which is such a shame. I have 3 bottles of this that's at least 1.5 years old. My bottles come off heavy on coffee, nice smoky tobacco, hazelnut, rose in the background, rhubarb, and even some booziness. The projection is unavoidable for the first 3 hours, still noticeable 12 hours later. I'm kinda surprised by the ladies that like this, because it's uber masculine off my skin...which again, could speak to a possible reformulation of this fragrance. For me, this was the best Fragrance World had to offer for a long time.

Have had it for about a month, the performance isn't anything crazy and it lasts about 6-7 hours. But the scent profile, oh my lord is it divine. Absolutely insane how something this cheap can smell this good. Sweet, almost juicy rose off the top with some saffron, combined with this ever-so-slightly nutty coffee in the back that's a little hard to detect, but it's there. As it dries the rose fades slightly, and that tobacco rolls in, overtaking that coffee a little, and it gets woodier. Can't detect that oud note, or the ylang-ylang and patchouli. Its mostly rose, with a coffee-woods base.

Boozy. Almost apple brandy opening. It performs very respectably, with the first hour or so being quite loud. I like it very much. I suppose the notes above make sense, but I can't pick out most of them. Coffee is in there, a big rose too. I have had a few months and it's more of a fall/winter fragrance for me. It is sweet. It is cheap. I think it's fantastic and I think I would buy again. I don't know the Killian's scents well, but I think this has some kind of Killian vibes.

I love this stuff just bought a second bottle. I use it on my bed sheets. Smells fancy LOL: warm and rich. I mostly get rose, caramel, and tobacco. I have never smelled any of the fragrances people claim this was inspired by, but I contacted Fragrance World's customer service for an official notes breakdown and here is what they sent me: Fragrance World Mocha Wood Eau De Parfum - Men: Top> Caramel, Spicy, Fruity Middle> Rose, White Flowers, Powdery Base> Vanilla, Amber, Musk

I am wearing it on skin for the first time today. When I initially did a blotter test, I sprayed it and then went to bed. When I woke up in the morning, the fragrance was still going strong. Today, I wore it over vanilla body lotion. I selected this layering combo because I find the tonka and benzoin to be very strong and forward in this fragrance. It is a warm scent with strong spicy undertones. I love it!

This fragrance opens with a very sweet rose dominant floral quality that mellows into a woody spicy creamy combination of tobacco and chocolate. The floral notes are still present but muted. I don't get much of what i would recognize as coffee of this but it may be wrapped up in the chocolate/tobacco note. I really have to stop myself from putting this on all the time.

Upscale gourmet fragrance despite the price. Smells like Montale intense cafe but with a more manly twist. Definitely a winter fall and nightly fragrance but one spray layering with a refreshing scent like Nautica voyage in the summer works wonders (making a niche out of 2 cheapies, try it out)

This didn’t need time to sit, out the gate it was very pleasant. I bought it for my partner but the rose made it a bit too feminine leaning for him so I kept it. I was expecting something sticky & tobacco dominant. This is a powdery floral with a hint of sweetness that’s beautifully blended.

Such a gorgeous scent! Coffee, hazelnut, saffron, tobacco, rose, sandalwood, oud, even the rhubarb - I can smell them all in this incredibly well blended fragrance. Granted, I had to wait 4 months for the full glory of this perfume to reveal itself, but it was well worth the wait!

This one is just perfect! Coffee, hazelnut, saffron, rose, a bit of tobacco, and the oud fusing this all together like a symphony. One of the few fragrances that's garnered compliments from strangers often when I decide to use it.

This is one of my favorite fragrances. It is very similar to intense cafe to my nose. It gets stronger and sweeter with time I love layering this with Nebras as a date night fragrance...Backup bottle worthy for sure!!

Really beautiful scent. Got big compliments on this one, and I never get compliments. The guy liked it so much I had to show him where to buy it, lol.

Damn near identical to Hero by Boadicea the Victorious. Think a less sweet Intense Cafe, with a woodier dry down and a slight tobacco note.

Does anyone know how maceration does with this fragrance? Does it help it quite a bit?

I have no experience with it and can only judge Mocha Wood on its own merits. It's a hybrid that combines floral, gourmand, and woody notes and performs some perfumery wizardry in simulating chocolate on the nose. It's basically an olfactory illusion and you really have to focus before you realize that there really isn't an actual cacao note like you find in a fragrance with an actual cacao note Lattafa's Nebras, for example. Really cool fragrance experience. Mocha Wood blends sweet, coffee, rose, vanilla, musk, woody, herbal and oud aromas. The fragrance name is somewhat misleading as there is nothing in the name or the presentation that would lead one to expect that there is a strong rose note in the fragrance. This fragrance lives or dies on that rose note, as it may lean too feminine for some male users. Still, it's not as overt as other rose fragrances and blends well with the other notes. This is unisex, good for all ages, works for both formal and festive occasions, and is great for gourmand lovers. Value is fantastic, giving designer quality for a discounter price. Those who love coffee and/or chocolate notes in their fragrances will really enjoy this. Performance is good, too. Highly recommended.

I walked past this fragrance many times. The bottle looks cheap and the name—Mocha Wood—seemed too mainstream. I wondered, would it just smell like a soft drink off the shelf? I didn't know until today. Why did I wait this long to get acquainted with Fragrance World’s Mocha Wood? It is truly a proper perfume. Just a few days ago, I read that Montale was the inspiration. I figured that since it's Montale-inspired, it must have that Arabic DNA and likely be a good one. Today, all was revealed. Yes, Mocha Wood is an oriental fragrance. In the air, people might perceive it as just another "Oriental Rose," but closer to the skin, the scent has a lot more going on, with other oriental-themed notes blending beautifully. For those wondering: I can confirm that Mocha Wood is not coffee-forward—which is a good thing. Like other perfumes in this price range, it lacks the texture and thickness found in higher-end fragrances, but it’s a winner nonetheless.

Am I the only one that gets a metallic vibe in the beginning? Anyways, for some reason this takes a few minutes before the scent starts to kick in. What I get is Rose, Chocolate Hazelnut / Coffee, Vanilla, and sweet Oud. This is creamy and semi sweet. The patchouli gives a chocolate vibe mixed with the Benzoin and sandalwood to give it a creamy vanilla base with the coffee hazelnut notes lingering in the background. It does last over 10 hours on my skin but the projection is moderate. I wore it last winter and it's nice when sprayed on clothes you smell it throughout the night. This is best enjoyed for casual or intimate situations or when you don't want to choke people out. It’s a comforting scent.

What a transformation! It starts out the way Delina does with the bright rose note. (Disclaimer: this smells nothing like Delina, there is only a similar rose note in the opening) The fully floral intro fades into a much less floral, sort of woody mid. While I’ve been wearing it, the dry down takes roughly 3 hours to take its place. When the base notes finally do settle in, I get a smooth, sweet, creamy coffee and wood pairing that I find vastly different from the opening notes. The longevity isn’t impressive at this point. I will revisit when it has had time to mature and find its stride. So far it’s about a 6/10

Cheapest scent in my collection that gets me shocking compliments. Worthy of praise, for the projection when sprayed generously, cutting through cold air. Such an easy wear. Very comforting, sweetness done right in this. For this price, it's an absolute banger. Haven't smelled Hero by BTV, but this does smell a bit like intense cafe/roses vanille not a 1-to-1 clone however. All in all, I have nothing but good things to say about this scent.

I can't detect any coffee in this scent. It's mostly a creamy rose scent, much more feminine than masculine, but very good and with a satisfactory duration. For the €16 I spent to buy it, I have no complaints, my choice is very good. It was a blind market based in the comments of those who bought it and of course I didn't regret it.

This is a really nice fall/winter fragrance. There is a dry dusty mocha note throughout with hints of vanilla, cardamom and sandalwood. Not over powering but in the same vein as Lattafa's Qaa'ed. Mocha Wood is calmer and a easier wear than Qaa'ed (which I think is Amazing!). For the price and quality it is a winner... Enjoy

It's a unisex gourmand fragrance. I accidentally let it macerate for 12+ months because when I first got it was a smokey, tobacco, heavy on the coffee and rhubarb as well, I think. But now it is gorgeous; it is a floral, spicy gourmand with a boozy feel to it and a lot warmer and yummy.

This is intoxicating and will sneak up on you. The 'Oud' could easily be too much but for me the blend is just right with a touch of sweetness. Every time I wear this I think to myself that I should wear it more often. One of the best fragrances I've ever got from Fragrance World.

Rose and Tobacco are dominant in the opening. During the dry down, the Tobacco fades while the Rose lingers. Also, a mix of Benzoin and Woods emerges late. Coffee was not distinct, perhaps overshadowed by the Tobacco. It was more of a "Rose Tobacco" than a "Mocha Wood" IMO.

I'm usually not a fan of rose scents, but this one is lovely! I mostly get rose and coffee from this, but the tobacco and woods add great depth to it.

Smoky, woody, rosy, boozy.. You can blind buy this for the price and the quality of scent. Really easy to wear even if you are not a gourmandy type

Smells very synthetic and outdated, and has some elegant grandma vibes to it. I didn’t get any coffee in it btw.

This used to have a cognac accord but that's gone with later batches. It's not as interesting a scent now.

This one smells expensive. Very gourmand. On my skin though I think it’s too overwhelming. The notes told me I was gonna love it. But I don’t. It smells like burnt rubber mixed with coffee and a bouquet of roses. In some sense it reminds me of Karus Secret Musk. Can’t put my finger on what it is that almost makes me feel nauseous. Synthetic tonka beans? Might evolve into something great after maceration, so I’ll let it sit for a while and try again. Fingers crossed.

No coffee what so ever. As mentioned below this smells like Roses vanille and it's also got intense cafe thing going on and that's okay but I was disappointed because I didn't need an extra bottle of those two. So it's nice if you don't have those but want that scent, but they should have called this vanilla rosey vanille lol or something like that.

To my taste, this leans way more to the feminine side of the scale, too much fruity sweet for my personal scent bubble to handle. Extremely strong sillage and long lasting performance that annoys me even more. Not bad on a chick tho IMHO.

Edit: Upon reading more reviews, I'm wondering if I got a bad/turned batch... Nope! Not for me. I have a collection of almost 100 bottles, and this is one of two that are instantly headache-inducing for me. I'm not just saying this because it's an Arabic brand; most of my perfumes are Arabic and I LOVE them. But this one is super synthetic to me and smells like rotting wood with some coffee and nutmeg thrown on top to try to cover the stench. Nope! It's not the worst thing I've ever smelled, but there are so many better fragrances out there. P.S.—Yall are crazy saying rose is the strongest note. I LOVE rose and to my nose it is nowhere to be found in this fragrance! Please, stay away from this one!

This is a Rose oud tabaccoy scent, not a coffee scent. Great looking bottle, heavy cap, good atomiser and performance is nuclear!! I hope I have just got a bad bottling or something but wow this is super synthetic and metallic to me. It's not a strong coffee but I get a sweet coffee smell so I get the Montale similarities. I cannot get past the sickly synthetic metallic smell!!

Don't buy it. I don't care how much it costs it smells so watered down it's stupid. It a shame because the smell is pretty good. I could spray this 30 times in the same spot and it would smell normal. Yes it's cheap, but just buy any lattafa at that point.

*October 2024 wearing it today and wow, it's matured so much since I first got it. It's so strong. The rose note has come out loads. I absolutely love it and think I'll get a back up bottle to let it age for next year. Stunning. For £15 it's such good quality. I bought this a while ago and it did just smell like Intense Café, Roses Vanille and the base of Gentle Fluidity Gold but after it's had months to macerate I can smell the other notes like rhubarb, ylang ylang, hazelnut saffron tobacco patchouli tonka sandalwood oud etc. They're not that noticeable but if I concentrate on them I can find them. Might be the power of suggestion but either way, it smells amazing. I've never smelled Hero but I imagine it's very much the same as this. It's a less sweet Intense Café. Definitely has a metallic feel. There's something in the dry down that reminds me of fruity sherbet aswell, I think it's the rhubarb. It's lovely and it's gotten way stronger since I first got it. Unisex leaning slightly more feminine.

I blind bought this a while back, not knowing it was a clone of Montale's Intense Cafe. So when I bought my girlfriend Intense Cafe and smelled it, I was immediately taken aback. "Where have I smelled this before?". Almost immediately I reached over for the Mocha Wood, and was quite surprised by how similar the two dry down. Intense Cafe's opening is a lot better, and Mocha Wood opens up very alcoholic - but it only lasts about 3 to 5 minutes. After that, the two scents are quite similar. There's more richness in the Montale, and more subtle detail. And there's more radiance and sillage from it. However, the overall scent is quite close.

A sweet sugary rose with a creamy, Woody drydown with touches of tobacco. I also get a beautiful velvety vanilla lingering from start to finish! The creaminess to me seems to come from a sweet coffee/Mocha. I love this, it's quite similar to Roses Vanille which just also love! After maceration, I feel this has a smidge more woodiness/Mocha in the drydown which I adore. I find this leans feminine and mysterious, like something Marilyn Monroe would wear!

It smells good, but Eau de Parfum? Cmon! One spray from A*men (even from the reformulated, new batch) and i can smell it 3 hours later... and thats only an EDT. But this? 5-6 sprays and i can barely sniff it an hour, plus it won't even projects. EDP my ...@55! It's a body mist at best, but it's OK for this price.

Very nice one for the price paid. Remembers me a lot to Rose Rouge from Van cleef but here the rose is not as sweet, is a darker one with a more unisex presence than Van cleef (more femenin). The coffee touch gives that feeling in my opinion. Nice sillage without being too invasive.

This is just bad, but i should have known. Is it worth 25$? No. Do you want to smell like the old guys who play euchre at the local VFW on tues and thurs nights? i cant make out any note in particular, it just smells like a hott mess

One of the best hidden cheapies : imagine coffee mixed with saffron, hazelnut and tobacco, and all of theses notes in a background of rose and a smooth touch of indian oud Projection / performance / quality / price : 10/10

if you have Musk Vanille by Maison Alhambra or Mocha Wood by Fragrance World. or Delilah by Maison Alhambra... you do not need this. They all smell similar...all beautiful, but all too, too much alike. You're welcome.

@Cole199_98 There's absolutely no improvement in performance. Even after letting it macerate for more than three years, it still has poor projection and longevity!
